SSC CPO Reservation Policy

As per the notification, reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC)/ Scheduled Tribes (ST)/ Other Backward Classes (OBC)/ Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), etc are as determined and communicated by the Indenting Ministries/ Departments/ Offices, as per extant Government Orders.

  • The commission makes the selection of candidates in accordance with the vacancies reported by the concerned User Departments for various posts.
  • Candidates must note that the Commission does not have any role in deciding the number of vacancies of any User Department. 
  • User Departments are responsible for the implementation of reservation policy, maintaining reservation roster, and earmarking of vacancies for different categories.
  • Out of the quota meant for ex-servicemen, 50% of the quota will be reserved for ex-servicemen served in the Special Force/ NSG, having received QI “Qualified Instructors” grading in the commando course, and officers from the Navy/Air Force who has worked in the specialized commando-type units.
  • The unfilled vacancies will be filled from amongst other available ex-servicemen candidates, if a sufficient number of Ex-servicemen candidates served in the Special Force/ NSG or received QI “Qualified Instructors” grading in the commando course are not available.

A candidate must be a citizen of India, the subject of Nepal/Bhutan to apply for the CPO 2020 Exam.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from the recognized University or Institute. For the post of Sub Inspector in Delhi Police (only) – Male candidates must possess a valid Driving License for LMV (Motorcycle and Car) as on the date fixed for Physical Endurance and Standard Tests.


The age limit of the candidates should be from 20 to 25 years as on 01-01-2021 i.e. Candidates born not before 02-01-1996 and not later than 01-01-2001 are eligible to apply for the desired post.
