SSC CHSL Exam 2019 (Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam)

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) was established in the year 1975. Every year a number of aspirants appear for SSC CHSL exam. It is a secondary (10+2) level examination which is conducted in 2 phases.

SSC CHSL Notification 2019

SSC announced the initial release of the SSC CHSL Notification 2019 on January 2019. The notification was however delayed. It is expected that the official notification for SSC CHSL will be released on January 25, 2019. You can find the notification and online application link for SSC CHSL on the official website of SSC.

SSC CHSL Vacancy

SSC CHSL Vacancy will be soon released within the SSC Notification 2019. However, in 2017 a total of 3271 vacancies were announced. Earlier, it was 3259 but later on, the vacancies were revised and increased to 3271. The post wise breakup of SSC CHSL 2018 vacancies is as mentioned below:

SSC CHSL Exam Date

The SSC CHSL 2019 exam dates are not announced yet. We will update the details as soon as it is officially notified. Here are the tentative SSC CHSL Exam Dates:

SSC CHSL Application Form 2019

The application link is not active now. We have given the steps to apply below according to the method followed the previous time.

Steps To Apply For SSC CHSL

  • Go to the official site of SSC i.e "".
  • Click on the apply section shown at the top bar of the page.
  • click on the tab for CHSL to find the online link for SSC CHSL (at present the link is not available).
  • The registration link will open up in the new window.
  • Click on the new registration tab and then click on the register button.
  • To begin with the registration, you need to provide basic details like name, parents’ name, date of birth, email id, mobile number etc.
  • Click on the submit button. Do verify your details before submitting the online CHSL application form.
  • After submission, you will be issued a registration ID for SSC CHSL 2018 exam.
  • In the next step, you have to upload a photograph and a signature.


    The photograph must have a white colour or light coloured background and must be more than 4 kb in size and less than 12 kb. The photograph resolution must be 100*120 pixels in width and height.


    The signature must be in black or blue ink on a white sheet. The properly scanned copy of the candidate’s signature must be in jpg format and it should be more than 1 kb in size and less than 12 kb. The resolution should be 40*60 pixels in width and height.

  • Login with registered ID and a password to complete the Part-II of the SSC CHSL 2019 Application Form.
  • After filling the application form, you must preview the entire application form.
  • Click on the Final submit button after previewing the complete online SSC CHSL application form.

The required fee for various categories is as mentioned below:

SSC CHSL Selection Process

SSC will conduct CHSL 2019 recruitment in three phases:

  • Phase I: SSC CHSL Tier I Exam (Objective Paper)
  • Phase II: SSC CHSL Tier II Exam (Descriptive Paper)
  • Phase III: Skill Test/Typing Test

The final selection will depend on the merit list based on the performance of the candidates in Phase I and II i.e Objective + Descriptive paper. Also, there is no sectional cut off in SSC CHSL Tier I exam.

Tier 1 Exam Pattern

SSC CHSL Tier I timing has been reduced from 75 minutes to 60 minutes which has increased the difficulty level of examination.  There is no sectional cut off in CHSL Tier I exam but there will be an overall cut off marks. There is negative marking of 0.50 marks for every wrong answer.

Tier 2 Exam Pattern

The tier 2 paper is offline i.e in pen and paper mode. The SSC CHSL descriptive paper can be written either in Hindi or in English. One has to secure a minimum of 33% marks to qualify the exam. Marks from the test will be added for in preparing the final merit list.

Tier 3 Exam Pattern

  • The SSC CHSL Tier III will be a skill test/typing test which is of qualifying nature.
  • For SSC CHSL Skill Test, you should have a typing speed of 8000 key depressions per hour. You will be provided with a printed sheet and will be given 15 minutes. The total number of words in the sheet will be 2000 – 2200 approximately.
  • For SSC CHSL typing test, if you choose English, your typing speed should be 35 words per minute. If you choose Hindi, typing speed should be 30 words per minute. Total time is 10 minutes. You will be judge on the basis of accuracy as well as speed.
