As per the official notification, there are three stages in the Rajasthan Judicial services examination, i.e. the Prelims, Mains, and the Viva-voce (personal interview).

  • The exam pattern differs for every stage of the exam.
  • All three phases are qualifying in nature.

RJS Exam Pattern 2023 for Mains 

The RJS mains exam is expected to be conducted in March 2023. The main exam consists of four papers:

  • Paper I: Law
  • Paper-II: Law
  • Paper III: Hindi Essay
  • Paper IV: English Essay.

RJS Exam Pattern - Mains Marking Scheme & Qualifying Marks 

The total marks for the mains exam are 300. Paper 1 and 2 of Law is conducted for 200 marks and Language paper for 100.

  • In the language section, Hindi and English Essay carries 50 marks each.
  • If you belong to the general category, you must score a minimum of 35% marks in each law paper and 40% in aggregate.
  • For the SC/ST category, the minimum percentage of marks will be 30% for papers 1 and 2, and the aggregate must be 35%.

RJS Exam Pattern 2023 for Prelims 

In the Preliminary Examination, 70% weightage shall be given to Law Paper-I and Law Paper-ll, while 30% weightage to language proficiency.

  • In the prelims exam, your proficiency in Hindi and English is tested. 
  • The preliminary exam will consist of 100 objective-type MCQ questions.

RJS Prelims Exam Pattern: Marking Scheme & Qualifying Marks 2023

  • You will be awarded one mark for each correct answer in the prelim exam.
  • There is no negative marking in the RJS exam.
  • If you belong to the general category, you must score above 45% marks in the prelims exam to get shortlisted for the Mains exam.
  • For SC/ST category, the minimum qualifying percentage will be 40%

RJS Exam Pattern 2023 - Interview Process 

You will get shortlisted for the interview/viva-voce only if you score more than 35% marks in the prelims and mains examination.

  • The interview is conducted for a total of 35 marks. You are tested on your character, personality, and suitability for the job in the discussion.
  • Also, you will be tested on general knowledge, including the acquaintance of current affairs and issues.

  • Note that the questions asked will be general rather than direct law questions. 
  • If you belong to the general category, you must score 40% marks in the written exam and interview.
  • Suppose you belong to the SC/ST category. In that case, you must score at least 35% marks in the written exam and interview aggregate.
  • Rajasthan High Court will prepare the final merit listed based on the sum of marks obtained in the written exam and interview.
