The Ordnance Factory Board has its corporate headquarters in Kolkata, India. There are 41 other ordnance factory establishments all over India in various locations. Through OFB Trade Apprentice Recruitment candidates are eligible for various Non-ITI and ITI courses in Ordnance Factories of India. During this period the candidates will be given a stipend amount, that is under Section 11 of Apprenticeship Rules 1992.

  • There are a total of 6060 vacancies for Trade Apprentice position which includes both Non-ITI and ITI category.

  • In the 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year of the training period, trade apprentices will get 70%, 80% and 90% of the minimum wages of Semi-Skilled workers respectively.

OFB Trade Apprentice Stipend Salary/Wage

The minimum stipend per month to be paid to the trade apprentices is as per the

provision of sub-rule(1) of rule 11 of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992. According to the

Trade Apprentice Act 1961 & as per The Gazette notification of India, G.S.R. 680(E), Part ll-Section 37-Sub-section(i) Dtd. September 22, 2014, the year-wise stipend entitlement of present time has been provided below. (The amendments made from time to time via Gazette notification will also regulate the stipend amount).

In the entire period of apprenticeship training, no other allowances will be provided to the apprentice. However, in the case of ex ITI candidate, a period of training already undergone by them will be considered for determining the final stipend. This has been clearly mentioned in Section 11 in the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992.

Payment of stipend to apprentices (trade):

The minimum amount of stipend payable to trade apprentices shall be as follows:

(a) At the first year of training period INR 1090 per month

(b) At the second year of training period INR 1240 per month

(c) At the third year of training period INR 1440 per month

(d) At the fourth year of training period INR 1620 per month 

Given that in the instance of trade apprentices referred to in clause (a) of section 6 of the Act, the period of training alrea­dy dy undergone by them in a school or other institution recognised by the National Council, must be taken into account to decide the rate of stipend payable.

OFB Trade Apprentice Career Aspects 

The OFB Trade Apprentice is a three year course that provides a certified degree in both ITI and Non ITI courses. There are various skilled and semi-skilled trades like electrical, mechanical, electronics, chemical, leather technology, etc. During these three years, apprentices will be provided training in their relevant trade and a stipend will also be given. After completing this course the Ordinance Factory Board of India doesn’t promise a job to the candidates, though, if there are vacancies then they can get a job in OFB. Through this certified degree the candidates can also apply for ITI and Non -ITI based jobs in other industries. 

OFB Recruitment for Trade Apprentice Eligibility

The aspirants who are interested in submitting applications for OFB Trade Apprentice must check the eligibility criteria first before applying. Candidates must check the eligibility requirements mentioned in the official website; this is important because candidates found ineligible at any level of the selection procedure will be disqualified.

Age Criteria: 

  • The candidates must have a minimum age of 15 years and a maximum age of 24 years when applying for the position of trade apprentice.
  • The upper age limit relaxation will be permitted as per the category wise reservation rules.

Educational Qualification: 

Non-ITI Category: Candidates should have passed 10th standard or equivalent exam with at least 50% marks in the total aggregate and 40% marks in Maths and Science discipline.

ITI Category: Applicants must have passed the relevant trade examination from the institute recognised by NCVT or SCVT or any other authorities specified to the Gazette notification of the Ministry of Labour and Employment or the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. This should be the qualification possessed by the candidates while applying for ITI category of Trade Apprentice.
