How to Start CUET Preparation 2023?

The slots for the CUET UG phase 1 examination have started, and you must check the feedback for students who have given the CUET exam 2023 and then continue with your preparation.

How to Start CUET Preparation?

Since the exam is new in itself, you must be well aware of the exam pattern and syllabus. 

To our ease, NTA has released the exam pattern and syllabus to focus on to help with preparations. Use the following CUET preparation tips. 

1 - Know your Exam Pattern

Let’s take a quick look at the general exam pattern for the NTA CUET exam, although the pattern and syllabus change for every university. 

The MoE has concluded the Common University Entrance Test 2023 will include four sections:

  • Section I A: 13 Languages
  • Section I B: 19 Languages
  • Section 2: Domain-specific test
  • Section 3: General test

2 - What to study? 

Before you sit to prepare for the CUET exam, make sure you understand that the syllabus changes for every college and course offered. 

The content you see below is just the general syllabus you pick for your preparations. 

Sections 1A and 1B: 

This section is basically language, with Section 1A having - Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Odiya, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, English, Hindi, and Urdu

Section 1B - French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian, Chinese

How to prepare for the language section? 

This section does not need a lot of preparation. However, you can prepare for the topics below. 

Focus on common topics below: 

  • This section test one’s proficiency in the language based on reading comprehension (based on different types of passages–Factual, Literary, and Narrative [Literary Aptitude & Vocabulary].
  • In the comprehension, you will be assessed on your understanding of a passage and its central theme, meanings of words used, etc.
  • Prepare for detecting grammatically incorrect sentences, fill blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc.

Section 2: Domain-specific test

This section is subject-specific and must be given utmost priority for its preparations. 

How to prepare for domain-specific subjects? 

  • If you are an Arts student and already studying History, then you can allocate less time as you're already preparing for the boards. 
  • But if you are a student from different background, make sure you buy the NCERT textbook and pay extra attention while preparing for this section. 
  • Start your preparations months before the exam and allocate one hour daily for domain-specific subjects. 
  • Read through your NCERT textbooks, and the syllabus will be clearly explained for each topic so you can focus on important topics and chapters.

  • For Maths, choose class 8 NCERT textbooks. 
  • If your changing your stream, not that this section is important; therefore, you must give it two hours of preparations daily. 
  • Go through youtube videos of logical reasoning and data interpretation.

Study Goals for CUET Preparations

When you are changing your domain from arts to commerce, the General test becomes extremely important. 

1. Most important section !! Logical reasoning and data interpretation

  • Refer to the NCERT Textbooks and relevant youtube content to prepare for the General test section.
  • Give it two hours of your time. 

2. Domain-specific subjects

  • For domain-specific subjects, refer to NCERT and prepare one hour daily
  • Complete studying one chapter daily, set your target, and make sure you complete it at any cost.
  • Do not memorize the chapter; read and understand the concepts. 
  • To study maths solutions and formulas, refer to R.D Sharma.

Do I need Coaching Classes for CUET Exam? 

  • Go through the topics in domain-specific subjects if you think you can handle the syllabus and do not require help. You can avoid coaching classes. 
  • Go through the youtube content and free materials online and see if you can grasp the concepts.
  • If you think you can cover these concepts and spare time for revision, you do not need to attend coaching sessions.
  • There is no harm in taking free demo sessions; refer to NTA CUET Mock Tests 2023 for CUET preparations.

Improve your CUET preparations daily

  • Rate your preparations every day. Rate yourself out of 10. 
  • Calculate your composite scores
  • Try to improve preparations chronologically with your syllabus
  • Always prioritize general tests and domain-specific subjects
