Attention all Government Job aspirants!! Here is the latest news in regards to the Government exams conducting body. If you are willing to appear for any government exam like SSC, RRB, or bank jobs by IBPS, then here is all you need to know who is conducting the examination. Currently, each government examination is conducted by their own examination authority, but in the future, this will change. Go through the complete post to know in detail.

Latest: As per the recent news, the Cabinet has approved the setting up of National Recruitment Agency (NRA) which is a combined exam conducting authroity for all government exams. DoPT Secretary C. Chandramouli said,  Common registration, single fee, and common curriculum are some of the benefits for candidates.

  • Previously a proposal was made for a specialized agency which will conduct separate CETs for the Graduates, the Higher Secondary, and Matriculate for non-technical posts
  • As per the recent reports, a new examination conducting authority is established which will conduct a cumulative preliminary exam for govt jobs.
  • National Recruitment Agency (NRA) is the new govt exam conducting body that will be responsible for holding a Common Eligibility Test (CET) for all competitive exams.
  • India's Finance Minister and the Department of Expenditure had approved this proposal and now even the Union Cabinet has also agreed.
  • Candidates appearing for any examination in the current need not worry about this while the new exam trend launch will be informed well in advance.

Important Features of National Recruitment Agency(NRA)

  • There will be a common registration of candidates through an online portal.
  • The National Recruitment Agency will conduct the tier-1 examination for these three agencies online i.e., SSC, Railways, and Banking.
  • Separate CETs will be conducted for non-technical posts based on the educational qualification- the Graduate, the Higher Secondary (12t11 pass) and the Matriculate (10th pass)
  • The agency will conduct exams in 12 languages, and it will be expanded to include more regional languages.
  • After this test, the score will be passed on to the candidate as well as the Recruitment authority i.e., SSC, IBPS, or RRB.
  • This score will be valid for three years from the date of declaration of result
  • Every candidate will get an extra two chances to improve his/her score and the best of three will be chosen as the current score of the candidate.
  • The final selection for the post will be made through the separate examinations conducted by respective Recruitment Boards.

Where Can the CET Score be Used?

  • As per the reports, State Governments/UT Administrations may use the results of CET on a cost-sharing basis by entering into MoUs with the specialized agency for CET, for state government jobs.
  • Central Government Ministries/Departments can use this CET score for any recruitment made other than through the SSC.
  • The CET score can also be utilized by the private sector, for shortlisting eligible candidates, other than those selected by Government recruitment agencies

Why is the new Exam Conducting Authority or Agency being launched?

Well, this is a common question that is striking in each one of your minds. So, here is the reason for the proposal of compiled Exam Authority.

  • The main reason is to reduce the burden of SSC, RRB, and IBPS from conducting a separate preliminary exam which is a tough task.
  • Once NRA is functional, it will work as a single-window for conducting prelims exam and shortlisting candidates from the bulk.
  • The list of shortlisted candidates will then be passed on to the SSC, IBPS, or RRB for conducting Mains Exam.
  • As per the records, more than 2.5 crore candidates appear for the Prelims exam out of which most of them are for SSC.
  • There is also another announcement that the NRA will not be in charge of conducting Probationary Officer Prelims Exam by any banks.
  • Hence, to shortlist the qualifying candidates through a Common Eligibility Test before sending them for the mains exam is the ideal reason behind NRA.
