Anupam Kher appointed as Chairman, FTII Pune

Shri Anupam Kher, veteran cine star, has been appointed as Chairman of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune.
●   Shri Kher succeeds Shri Gajendra Chauhan.
●   Shri Kher who has appeared in over 500 films is a recipient of the Padma Shri in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016 for his contribution in the field of cinema and arts.
●   The veteran star has won many national and international awards including the ‘Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Comic Role’ five times.
●   He has appeared in acclaimed international films such as the 2002 Golden Globe nominated Bend It Like Beckham, 2007 Golden Lion award-winning Lust, Caution and 2013 Oscar-winning Silver Linings Playbook.
●   He has appeared in more than 100 plays and has also authored the book ‘The Best Thing about You Is You’.
●   Earlier he served as the Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and was the Director of National School of Drama from 2001 to 2004.
●   He is also an alumnus of National School of Drama (1978 batch).

Shri Dharmendra Pradhan launches IGL prepaid smart card (Retail and Fleet) for CNG consumers

Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has said that the prepaid smart card (Retail and Fleet) launched by IGL for CNG consumers will be easily available and benefit common man in saving time in transactions at the CNG stations.
●   Launching the cards here today he said this is an important step taken by GAIL and IGL for making life easy for residents of Delhi.
●   Shri Pradhan said the initiative is part of Digital India Campaign envisaged by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to take country forward with the help of technology.
●   He said his Ministry is making every effort to use technology and methods to provide time saving and easily accessible customer service to consumers.
●   Referring to the challenge of environmental pollution, Shri Pradhan said answer to Delhi’s pollution lies in migrating its power plants, industrial units besides domestic and transport usages to clean fuel.
●   He said the Government is firm in its commitment to provide clean CNG and PNG for cooking and transport at customer’s convenience to promote Gas Based Economy.

President of India to Preside over Two-Day Conference of Governors on October 12 & 13, 2017 at Rashtrapati Bhavan

The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, will preside over a two-day Conference of Governors on October 12 and 13, 2017, at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
●   This is the 48th such Conference to be held in Rashtrapati Bhavan and the first Conference to be presided over by President Kovind.
●   The two-day Conference will deliberate on important agenda items in different sessions.
●   The theme of the opening session will be ‘New India-2022’.
●   India will complete 75 years of independence in 2022.
●   ‘New India 2022’ requires a number of initiatives in infrastructure to cater to the needs of citizens of the country.
●   Similarly, to build ‘New India 2022’, emphasis has to be given on various services viz. access to quality education, training and skill development, healthcare, cleanliness, open-defecation free cities and villages, pollution free environment, safety and security of citizens, etc.
●   The Vice President and the Prime Minister will be attending the sessions and addressing the conference.

Ola raises $ 1.1 billion, continuing talks for an additional $ 1 billion

Ride-hailing company Ola on Wednesday said that it has raised $1.1 billion in a funding round led by Chinese internet giant Tencent Holdings Limited.
●   Ola’s existing investor SoftBank, in addition to other new US-based financial investors, have also participated in this round.
●   Ola said it is also in advanced talks with other investors to close an additional $1 billion as part of the current financing round, concluding a total raise of over $2 billion.
●   The investment is expected to help Ola build its war chest in the battle against Uber, a worldwide ride-hailing colossus, that is rapidly gaining share in the Indian market.
●   “Our ambition is to build a globally competitive and futuristic transportation system in India that will support and accelerate a nation on the move,” said Bhavish Aggarwal, co-founder and chief executive of Ola, in a statement.
●   With its latest round of funding, Ola said it will be making strategic investments in supply, technology, and cutting-edge innovations to build for the country’s unique transportation needs.

Vedanta to invest $6 billion

Mining mogul Anil Agarwal has said his company Vedanta Ltd will invest over $6 billion to double oil and gas production to 4,00,000 barrels per day in 3 -4 years, but wants the government to extend Rajasthan oil field licence without any condition.
●   He also wanted the government to allow export of crude oil produced from the Barmer fields in Rajasthan to discover the right price.
●   Right policies and unencumbered clearances, according to Agarwal, should be given without delays.
●   "I feel that except for environment clearance, there should be no other clearance required," he said.
●   Vedanta, which in 2011 bought Cairn India from its British promoters at an enterprise value of $14.5 billion, has "not recovered the money spent on the acquisition", he said.
●   "But we are investing more. We are determined to double the oil and oil equivalent of gas production to 4,00,000 barrels per day in 3-4 years," he said.

India-China Yoga College started registration in postgraduate courses

India-China Yoga College (ICYC), China's first dedicated yoga college, opened enrollment for its new master's program on Tuesday.
●   Students can now sign up for the three-year program, the first two years of which will be completed in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province, and the final year in India, according to Lu Fang, deputy dean on ICYC.
●   Students who complete the program will receive degree diplomas from both Yunnan Minzu University and India's Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana, Lu said.
●   Postgraduate courses will include asana (poses), pranayama (breathing), yoga therapy and physiology as well as Hindi and Sanskrit to eliminate language barriers.
●   In order to help students prepare to study in India, the college will also offer courses on Indian culture.

●   राष्ट्रपति भवन में आयोजित होने वाला यह ऐसा 48वां और राष्ट्रपति श्री कोविंद द्वारा अध्यक्षता किये जाने वाला पहला सम्मेलन है।
●   इस दो दिवसीय सम्मेलन के विभिन्न सत्रों में महत्वपूर्ण एजेंडा मदों पर विचार-विमर्श किया जाएगा।
●   उद्घाटन सत्र का विषय 'न्यू इंडिया-2022' होगा। भारत 2022 में अपनी आजादी के 75 वर्ष पूरे करेगा।
●   'न्यू इंडिया 2022' में देश के नागरिकों की जरूरतों को पूरा करने के लिए बुनियादी ढांचे में अनेक पहलों की जरूरत है।

ओला ने जुटाए 1.1 अरब डॉलर, अतिरिक्त एक अरब डॉलर के लिए बातचीत जारी

एप आधारित टैक्सी सेवा देने वाली कंपनी ओला ने टेंसेंट होल्डिंग्स के नेतृत्व वाले निवेशक समूह से 1.1 अरब डॉलर की राशि जुटायी है।
●   साथ ही एक अरब डॉलर की अतिरिक्त राशि जुटाने के लिए वह बातचीत कर रही है।
●   कंपनी का लक्ष्य कुल दो अरब डॉलर जुटाने का है।
●   ओला ने एक बयान में बताया कि इस राशि से उसे अपनी प्रतिद्वंदी कंपनी उबर से प्रतिस्पर्धा करने में मदद मिलेगी।
●   दोनों कंपनियां भारतीय बाजार में शीर्ष पर बने रहने के लिए प्रयास कर रही हैं।
●   इसके चलते दोनों ने ड्राइवरों को प्रोत्साहन देने और ग्राहकों को छूट इत्यादि देने के लिए कई लाख डॉलर का निवेश किया है।
●   कंपनी ने अपने बाजार मूल्यांकन का जिक्र नहीं किया है जिसके आधार पर कोष जुटाया गया है।
●   कोष जुटाने की इस नवीन प्रक्रिया में उसकी मौजूदा निवेशक सॉफ्टबैंक के साथ अन्य अमेरिकी विाीय निवेशकों ने भी हिस्सा लिया है।
●   कंपनी ने इस संबंध में भी कोई जानकारी नहीं दी है कि कोष कब जुटाया गया और दो अरब डॉलर का कुल निवेश वह कब तक जुटाएगी।

प्रॉडक्शन दोगुना करने के लिए 6 अरब डॉलर लगाएगी वेदांता

दुनिया के बड़े माइनिंग कारोबारियों में शामिल अनिल अग्रवाल ने कहा है कि उनकी कंपनी वेदांता लिमिटेड 3-4 वर्षों में ऑयल और गैस प्रॉडक्शन दोगुना करने के लिए 6 अरब डॉलर से अधिक का इनवेस्टमेंट करेगी।
●   हालांकि, वह चाहते हैं कि सरकार राजस्थान के बाड़मेर में कंपनी की ऑयल फील्ड के लाइसेंस की अवधि बिना किसी शर्त के बढ़ाए।
●   वह बाड़मेर की फील्ड से प्रोड्यूस होने वाले क्रूड ऑयल के एक्सपोर्ट की अनुमति भी चाहते हैं जिससे सही प्राइस हासिल किया जा सके।
●   अग्रवाल के मुताबिक, 'मुझे लगता है कि दुनिया नहीं चाहती कि भारत ऑयल का प्रॉडक्शन करे।
●   वे भारत को ऑयल की सप्लाई करते रहना चाहते हैं।' अग्रवाल सहित दुनिया और भारत की दिग्गज कंपनियों के दो दर्जन सीईओ ने सोमवार को प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी के साथ देश में प्रॉडक्शन बढ़ाने के तरीकों पर विचार-विमर्श किया था।
●   वेदांता ने 2011 में केयर्न इंडिया को उसके ब्रिटिश प्रमोटर्स से 14.5 अरब डॉलर की एंटरप्राइज वैल्यू पर खरीदा था।
●   अग्रवाल ने बताया कि कंपनी खरीदने पर खर्च की गई रकम अभी तक रिकवर नहीं हुई है।

भारत-चीन योग कॉलेज ने स्नातकोत्तर पाठ्यक्रमों में पंजीयन की शुरुआत की

भारत-चीन योग कॉलेज ने अपने स्नातकोत्तर पाठ्यक्रम के लिए पंजीयन शुरू कर दिया है।
●   यह चीन का पहला योग कॉलेज है। भारत-चीन योग कॉलेज (आईसीवाईसी) के उप डीन लु फांग ने बताया कि छात्र अब तीन वर्षीय कार्यक्रम के लिए पंजीयन करा सकते हैं।
●   पहले दो सालों की पढ़ाई छात्र दक्षिणपश्चिम चीन के युन्नान प्रांत की राजधानी कुनमिंग में पूरी कर सकेंगे और आखिरी साल में उन्हें भारत जाना होगा।
●   सरकारी संवाद समिति शिन्हुआ के मुताबिक लु ने कहा कि छात्रों को युन्नान मिंजू विश्वविद्यालय और बेंगलुरु के स्वामी विवेकानंद योग अनुसंधान संस्थान दोनों से डिग्री-डिप्लोमा मिलेगा।
●   स्नातकोत्तर पाठ्यक्रम में आसन, प्राणायाम, योग थेरपी और शरीर क्रिया विज्ञान शामिल होगा।
●   साथ ही भाषाई बाधा को दूर करने के लिए हिन्दी और संस्कृत की पढ़ाई भी कराई जाएगी।

President of India inaugurates India water Week-2017

The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated India Water Week-2017 today (October 10, 2017) in New Delhi.
●   Speaking on the occasion, the President said that water is essential to life.
●   It is fundamental to the economy and to ecology – and to human equity.
●   The issue of water is becoming still more critical in view of climate change and related environmental concerns.
●   Better and more efficient use of water is a challenge for Indian agriculture and industry alike.
●   It requires us to set new benchmarks in both our villages and in the cities we build.
●   The President said that currently, 80 per cent of water in India is used by agriculture and only 15 per cent by industry.
●   In the coming years, this ratio will change. The total demand for water will also rise.
●   Efficiency of water use and reuse, therefore, has to be built into the blueprint of industrial projects.
●   Business and industry need to be a part of the solution.

Historic wage agreement by Coal India Limited

The 10th Wage Agreement of Coal Workers was finalised on the 10th meeting on 10th day of 10th month of this year.
●   Wage Agreement of the employees has been due from 1 July 2016.
●   The negotiation for wage agreement that has been on the negotiation table for more than one year has been concluded today.
●   Trade Union representatives were insistent for 50% of wage increase.
●   Their demand was there should be 50% wage increase for the employees.
●   But considering the country’s position, CIL’s benefit and financial position, a new record has been created by agreeing 20% increase on wages.
●   The special accomplishment of this agreement is that every employee shall get one day’s rest in a week, as per rule, so that the employee shall have relaxation and shall get an opportunity to spend time with their family paving way for improvement in quality of life through Work-Life-Balance.
●   The representatives of Trade Union and CIL Management have taken a decision to work together in the spirit of team work and increase productivity to unprecedented level.

Health Ministry discontinues Paper Greetings, switches to eGreetings

With the aim to reduce use of paper and give a boost to digital initiatives of the Government and to promote a contemporary and eco-friendly method of sending greetings, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has decided to go forward with eGreetings instead of paper-based greetings starting this festive season.
●   In a circular issued today, the Health Ministry has advised its staff to send festival greetings in the form of eGreetings.
●   Further, the Ministry has also said that it will not entertain any request for printing of season’s greeting card.
●   The eGreetings can be sent through the eGreetings portal of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology developed as part of the “Digital India” initiative.
●   The eGreeting portal created by DeitY and NIC allows users to select and send greetings from multiple occasion-specific templates.
●   Government Departments can also customize the greetings by adding tag-lines and messages related to their programmes and schemes.
●   The portal includes greetings for various occasions, including days of national importance.

Union Home Minister inaugurates NIA Hqrs new Office Complex

The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has said the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has played a key role in making the country a safer place and shielded India from the onslaught of global terrorism.
●   Inaugurating the new Headquarters Office Complex of the NIA here today, Shri Rajnath Singh said the NIA is on course to check the threat posed by terrorism.
●   The Union Home Minister said the NIA recently launched a crackdown on terrorism funding in the Kashmir Valley sponsored from a hostile neighbouring country and their accomplices in third countries abroad.
●   He commended the NIA, other Security Agencies, the Army, CAPFs and ATS of State Police Forces for coordinated efforts resulting in the elimination of a good number of terrorists.
●   Shri Rajnath Singh said the Government initiated steps to grant full autonomy to the NIA in investigations.
●   Earlier the NIA sought the MHA’s nod to proceed for action, but I’ve directed that there is no need for MHA’s approval and NIA is free to act discreetly.

Indian Railways and German Railways sign Joint Declaration of intent

A Joint Declaration of Intent was signed between Ministry of Railways and Germany on 10th October,2017 in Rail Bhavan in the presence of Shri Ashwani Lohani, Chairman, Railway Board regarding carrying out of feasibility study on existing Chennai-Kazipet corridor of Indian Railways by German Railways for increasing the speed of passenger trains to 200 kmph on 50.50 percent cost sharing basis.
●   The current Joint Declaration of Intent is intended to deepen the cooperation, more specifically towards the achievement in the priority area of Semi High Speed Rail: the upgrading of current passenger services to SHS (Semi High Speed) upto 200 kmph on the Chennai-Kazipet corridor (643 km).
●   The Project is envisaged to consist of three phases to be carried out over a 22 month period with the objectives to provide .
●   Phase 1: Definition of three demand-based Upgrade scenarios for the corridor
●   Phase 2: Selection of the preferred Upgrade scenario for SHS on the corridor, based on analysis of respective operations and economic-financial impact.
●   Phase 3: For preferred scenario, Reference design and technical Tender document:
●   Development of Reference design for technical solution on preferred Upgrade scenario.
●   Procurement concept for Construction works and Railway Systems.
●   Concept and Requirements for construction Phasing under railway Operations.
●   Preparation of technical tender documents for preferred Scenario usable for Design & Build tendering.

Conference on NPS for Central Public Sector Enterprises organised in the national capital by PFRDA

Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) organised a conference on National Pension System (NPS) for Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) at the India Habitat Centre (IHC), New Delhi with the objective of informing CPSEs benefits and features of NPS and of addressing their queries on NPS.
●   Based on the recommendation of the 3rd Pay Revision Committee, the Department of PSE notified dispensing with the condition of minimum 15 years of service and superannuation from CPSEs to avail the pension benefit implemented by CPSEs.
●   Separately, the Government has also amended the Income Tax Act providing for tax free migration of superannuation funds to NPS.
●   This provision will facilitate the CPSEs to implement NPS for their employees.
●   The total employee strength in CPSEs stood at 12.91 lakh (excluding contract workers) in 2014-15.
●   The Conference saw an active participation of more than 55 CPSEs with around 150 participants.
●   In his Inaugural Address, Dr. Badri S. Bhandari, Whole Time Member, PFRDA welcomed the participants and expressed the endeavor of PFRDA to expand NPS across all the sectors in the country in affordable and sustainable manner.
●   He explained the benefits of NPS and communicated the returns generated by Pension Funds since inception, which has been over 10% since inception.

Reconstituting National Panel of Experts to resolve technical issues regarding use of new technology/ materials/equipment

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, has decided to implement a “Value Engineering Program” to promote the use of new technologies, materials, and equipment in highways projects executed either under PPP mode or public funding mode.
●   The objective of the programme is to use innovative technology, materials and equipment to reduce the cost of projects and make them more environment friendly, while simultaneously ensuring that the roads or bridges and other assets get constructed much faster, are structurally stronger and more durable.
●   The Ministry had constituted a National Panel of Experts (NPE) last year, for approving proposals pertaining to deployment of (a) new/innovative/alternative materials, (b) new/innovative/alternative technologies and (c) new/innovative/alternative equipment in the highway sector.
●   The NPE will examine all technical matters involving the new technologies, materials and equipment referred to it by the concerned Engineers or concessionaires/ contractors.
●   The NPE will also resolve the technical issues which arise as a result of difference in view between engineers and concessionaires/contractors regarding implementation of the new and innovative technologies, materials and equipment.

$11 billion deal to sell Indus Towers to Bharti Infratel

A consortium led by US buyout fund KKR and comprising Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and GIC Singapore is in discussions to acquire Indus Towers, the world’s largest wireless infrastructure company, and telecom tower company Bharti Infratel for $11billion, multiple people in the know told ET.
●   Once completed, this will arguably be the largest such transaction globally.
●   As the first step, Bharti Infratel will buy out either all or almost the entire 58% shareholding of other partners — Vodafone, Idea Cellular and Providence Equity Partners — in Indus Towers.
●   Bharti Infratel currently owns 42% in Indus Towers, which has a portfolio of 1,23,000 towers.
●   Vodafone is likely to retain 8-10% stake to enjoy any future upside. Infratel has the right of first refusal on Vodafone and Idea’s stakes in Indus Towers.
●   “Bharti Infratel is likely to buy 45-50% stake for $5.5-6.5 billion as a leveraged buyout that will largely be funded out of the reserves and cash flow of Indus Towers,” said one of the sources mentioned above.
●   Investment banking sources put the enterprise value of privately held Indus at around $11billion, inclusive of $1-billion debt.
●   Spokespersons for Bharti, Vodafone Plc, KKR, Aditya Birla Group, CPPIB and ADIA declined to comment. GIC had not responded to ET’s questionnaire till press time.

●   जल का बेहतर और अधिक प्रभावी इस्तेमाल भारतीय कृषि और उद्योग के लिए एक चुनौती है।
●   हमारे लिए यह आवश्यक कर देता है कि हम अपने गांवों और निर्मित होने वाले शहरों में नए मानदंड स्थापित करें।
●   राष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि वर्तमान में भारत में 80 प्रतिशत जल का इस्तेमाल कृषि के लिए और केवल 15 प्रतिशत उद्योग द्वारा किया जाता है।
●   आने वाले वर्षों में यह अनुपात बदलेगा। जल की कुल मांग बढ़ेगी।
●   जल के इस्तेमाल और उसके दोबारा इस्तेमाल की क्षमता को औद्योगिक परियोजनाओं का खाका तैयार करते समय उसमें शामिल किया जाना चाहिए।

कोल इंडिया लिमिटेड ने ऐतिहासिक वेतन समझौता किया

कोयला क्षेत्र के कर्मियों के 10वें वेतन समझौते को इस वर्ष के 10वें महीने के 10वें दिन आयोजित 10वीं बैठक में अंतिम रूप दिया गया।
●   कर्मचारियों का वेतन समझौता 1 जुलाई 2016 से अपेक्षित था।
●   वेतन समझौते के लिए बातचीत एक वर्ष से भी अधिक समय से जारी थी जो आज संपन्न हुई।
●   श्रमिक संगठन के प्रतिनिधि वेतन में 50 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि पर जोर दे रहे थे।
●   उनकी मांग थी कि कर्मचारियों के लिए वेतन वृद्धि 50 प्रतिशत होनी चाहिए।
●   हालांकि, देश के हालात, सीआईएल को हुए मुनाफे और उसकी वित्तीय स्थिति को ध्यान में रखते हुए वेतन में 20 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि करने पर सहमति हुई है, जो एक नया रिकॉर्ड है।
●   इस समझौते की विशेष उपलब्धि यह है कि नियम के अनुसार प्रत्येक कर्मचारी को हर हफ्ते एक दिन का आराम मिलेगा।
●   इससे कर्मचारी आराम कर सकेंगे और उन्हें अपने परिवार के साथ समय बिताने का ज्यादा मौका मिलेगा जिससे कार्य एवं जीवन में संतुलन के जरिए वे बेहतर ढंग से जीवनयापन सुनिश्चित कर सकेंगे।

स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय ने कागज के बधाई पत्रों के स्थान पर ई-ग्रीटिंग का उपयोग प्रारम्भ किया

कागज का उपयोग कम करने, सरकार के डिजीटल पहलों को बढ़ावा देने और पर्यावरण-अनुकूल बधाई संदेश भेजने के लिए स्वास्थ्य व परिवार कल्याण मंत्रालय ने इस वर्ष से ई-ग्रीटिंग भेजने का निर्णय लिया है।
●   आज जारी किए गए एक आदेश के अनुसार स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय ने अपने कर्मचारियों को इस त्यौहारी मौसम में ई-ग्रीटिंग भेजने की सलाह दी है।
●   मंत्रालय ने कहा है कि बधाई पत्र छापने संबंधी किसी अनुरोध को स्वीकार नहीं किया जाएगा।
●   ‘डिजीटल इंडिया’ पहल के तहत इलेक्ट्रोनिक्स और सूचना प्राद्योगिकी मंत्रालय द्वारा विकसित ई-ग्रीटिंग पोर्टल से ई-ग्रीटिंग भेजा जा सकता है।
●   ई-ग्रीटिंग को डीईआईटीवाई द्वारा विकसित किया गया है और एनआईसी उपयोग कर्ता को यह सुविधा देता है कि वह विभिन्न अवसरों के लिए बनाए गए बधाई संदेशों से अपना मनपसंद टैम्पलेट चुने।
●   सरकारी विभाग अपने कार्यक्रमों और योजनाओं के संदेश और टैगलाइन भी इन टैम्पलेट्स में जोड़ सकते है।
●   पोर्टल में राष्ट्रीय महत्व के दिनों समेत विभिन्न अवसरों के लिए बधाई संदेश उपलब्ध हैं।
●   सरकारी संगठनों की विशेष जरूरतों का भी ध्यान रखा गया है।

गृह मंत्री ने एनआईए मुख्यालय के नए कार्यालय परिसर का उद्घाटन किया

केन्द्रीय गृह मंत्री श्री राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा है कि राष्ट्रीय जांच एजेंसी (एनआईए) ने देश को सुरक्षित स्थान बनाने और वैश्विक आतंकवाद के हमलों से भारत की रक्षा करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई है।
●   आज यहां एनआईए के नए मुख्यालय कार्यालय परिसर का उद्घाटन करते हुए श्री राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा कि एनआईए आतंकवाद से उत्पन्न खतरे पर अंकुश लगाने के कार्य में लगा हुआ है।
●   केन्द्रीय गृह मंत्री ने कहा कि एनआईए ने हाल ही में पड़ोसी देश और विदेश में तीसरे देशों में मौजूद उनके साथियों द्वारा कश्मीर घाटी में आतंकवादियों को सहायता पहुंचाने के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई की।
●   गृह मंत्री ने आतंकवादियों का बड़ी संख्या में सफाया करने के लिए एनआईए, अन्य सुरक्षा एजेंसियों, सेना, सीएपीएफ तथा राज्य पुलिस बल के एटीएस के सम्मिलित प्रयासों की सराहना की।
●   श्री राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा सरकार ने जांच में एनआईए को पूर्ण स्वायत्ता देने के लिए कदम उठाए हैं।
●   इससे पहले एनआईए ने कार्रवाई के लिए आगे बढ़ने के लिए गृह मंत्रालय की अनुमति मांगी थी लेकिन मैंने निर्देश दिया कि गृह मंत्रालय की मंजूरी की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है और एनआईए स्वतंत्र होकर अलग से कार्रवाई कर सकता है।
●   उन्होंने कहा कि यहां तक की एनआईए के अगले महानिदेशक की नियुक्ति करीब दो महीने पहले कर दी गई है। इससे सरलता से कार्य हो सकेगा।

भारतीय रेलवे और जर्मन रेलवे ने प्रयोजन की संयुक्त घोषणा पर हस्ताक्षर किए

यात्री रेल गाड़ियों की गति 200 किमी प्रति घंटा तक बढ़ाने के लिए भारतीय रेलवे और जर्मन रेलवे ने मौजूदा चेन्नई - काजीपेट कॉरिडोर का व्यवहार्यता अध्ययन करने के संबंध में 10 अक्टूबर, 2017 को रेल भवन में रेल मंत्रालय के रेलवे बोर्ड के चेयरमैन श्री अश्विनी लोहानी की उपस्थिति में प्रयोजन की संयुक्त घोषणा पर हस्ताक्षर किए।
●   यह कार्य 50-50 प्रतिशत लागत भागीदारी के आधार पर किया जाएगा।
●   प्रयोजन की इस वर्तमान संयुक्त घोषणा का उद्देश्य विशेष रूप से अर्ध उच्च गति (एसएचएस) रेल के प्राथमिकता वाले क्षेत्र में उपलब्धि की दिशा में सहयोग मजबूत करना है, मौजूदा यात्री सेवाओं का चेन्नई-काज़िपेट कॉरिडोर (643 किमी) पर 200 किलोमीटर की अर्ध उच्च गति का उन्नयन करना है।
●   इस परियोजना में 22 महीने की अवधि में तीन चरणों में निम्नलिखित उद्देश्यों को उपलब्ध कराना शामिल है :
●   चरण 1 : कॉरीडोर के लिए तीन मांग आधारित उन्नयन परिदृश्यों की परिभाषा

पीएफआरडीए द्वारा केंद्रीय सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र उद्यमों के लिए एनपीएस पर सम्मेलन राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में आयोजित किया गया

पेंशन कोष नियामक एवं विकास प्राधिकरण (पीएफआरडीए) ने नई दिल्ली स्थित इंडिया हैबिटेट सेंटर (आईएचसी) में केंद्रीय सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र उद्यमों (सीपीएसई) के लिए राष्ट्रीय पेंशन प्रणाली (एनपीएस) पर एक सम्मेलन आयोजित किया।
●   इसका उद्देश्य सीपीएसई को एनपीएस के लाभों एवं विशेषताओं से अवगत कराना और एनपीएस से जुड़ी उनकी जिज्ञासा का समाधान पेश करना था।
●   तीसरी वेतन संशोधन समिति की सिफारिश के आधार पर पीएसई विभाग ने सीपीएसई द्वारा लागू पेंशन लाभ लेने के लिए न्यूनतम 15 साल की सेवा और सीपीएसई से सेवानिवृत्ति की शर्त समाप्त करने वाली अधिसूचना जारी कर दी।
●   इसके अलावा, सरकार ने आयकर अधिनियम में संशोधन करके एनपीएस में सेवानिवृत्ति कोष का कर मुक्त आगमन संभव कर दिया है।
●   इस प्रावधान से सीपीएसई को अपने कर्मचारियों के लिए एनपीएस को लागू करने में सुविधा होगी।
●   वर्ष 2014-15 में सीपीएसई में कुल मिलाकर 12.91 लाख (अनुबंध पर काम करने वाले कर्मचारियों को छोड़कर) कर्मी कार्यरत थे।
●   इस सम्मेलन में लगभग 150 प्रतिभागियों के साथ 55 से भी अधिक सीपीएसई की सक्रिय भागीदारी देखी गई।
●   अपने उद्घाटन संबोधन में पीएफआरडीए के पूर्णकालिक सदस्य डॉ. बद्री एस. भंडारी ने प्रतिभागियों का स्वागत किया और किफायती एवं टिकाऊ तरीके से देश के सभी क्षेत्रों में एनपीएस का विस्तार करने के लिए पीएफआरडीए द्वारा किए जा रहे प्रयासों को रेखांकित किया।

नई तकनीक / सामग्रियों / उपकरणों के उपयोग के संबंध में तकनीकी मुद्दों को हल करने के लिए विशेषज्ञों के राष्ट्रीय पैनल का पुनर्गठन

सड़क परिवहन एवं राजमार्ग मंत्रालय ने राजमार्ग संबंधित परियोजनाओं, चाहे वह पीपीपी तरीके से या फिर सार्वजनिक वित्तपोषण तरीके से निष्पादित की जा रही हों, में नई प्रौद्योगिकियों, सामग्रियों और उपकरणों के उपयोग को बढ़ावा देने के लिए “वैल्यू इंजीनियरिंग कार्यक्रम” को लागू करने का निर्णय लिया है।
●   इस कार्यक्रम का उद्देश्य परियोजनाओं की लागत कम करने और उन्हें अधिक पर्यावरण के अनुकूल बनाने के लिए नई प्रौद्योगिकी, सामग्री और उपकरण का उपयोग करना है, जबकि साथ ही यह भी सुनिश्चित करना है कि सड़कों या पुलों और अन्य परिसंपत्तियां भी जो बहुत तेजी से निर्मित की जा रही हैं वह संरचनात्मक रूप से मजबूत और अधिक टिकाऊ हों।
●   मंत्रालय ने पिछले वर्ष राजमार्ग क्षेत्र में (अ) नया / अभिनव / वैकल्पिक सामग्रियों, (ब) नया / अभिनव / वैकल्पिक प्रौद्योगिकियों और (स) नया / अभिनव / वैकल्पिक उपकरणों की तैनाती से संबंधित प्रस्तावों को स्वीकृति देने के लिए विशेषज्ञों के राष्ट्रीय पैनल का गठन किया था।
●   विशेषज्ञों के राष्ट्रीय पैनल (एनपीई) सभी तकनीकी मामलों जो संबंधित प्रौद्योगिकियों, सामग्री और उपकरणों से संबंधित हैं तथा जो संबंधित अभियंता या रियायतें / ठेकेदारों द्वारा निर्दिष्ट हैं, की जांच करेगी।
●   विशेषज्ञों के राष्ट्रीय पैनल (एनपीई) उन तकनीकी मुद्दों जो नए और अभिनव प्रौद्योगिकियों, सामग्रियों और उपकरणों के कार्यान्वयन के संबंध में इंजीनियरों और रियायतें/ ठेकेदारों के बीच अंतर के परिणामस्वरूप उत्पन्न होती हैं, को भी हल करेगी।

11 अरब डॉलर में इंडस टावर, भारती इंफ्राटेल को बेचने की डील

अमेरिकी बायआउट फंड केकेआर की अगुवाई और कनाडा पेंशन प्लान इनवेस्टमेंट बोर्ड, अबू धाबी इनवेस्टमेंट अथॉरिटी और जीआईसी सिंगापुर की सदस्यता वाला एक समूह दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी वायरलेस इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर कंपनी इंडस टावर और भारती इंफ्राटेल को 11 अरब डॉलर में खरीदने के लिए बातचीत कर रहा है।
●   डील की जानकारी रखने वाले कई लोगों ने ईटी को बताया कि बातचीत आगे बढ़ चुकी है। यह दुनिया में इस तरह की सबसे बड़ी डील हो सकती है।
●   जिस योजना पर काम हो रहा है, उसमें भारती इंफ्राटेल पहले कदम के तहत इंडस टावर में दूसरी पार्टनर्स वोडाफोन, आइडिया सेल्युलर और प्रॉविडेंस इक्विटी पार्टनर्स की लगभग पूरी 58 पर्सेंट हिस्सेदारी खरीदेगी। 123000 टावरों के इंडस पोर्टफोलियो का 42 पर्सेंट हिस्सा अभी भारती इंफ्राटेल के पास है।
●   वोडाफोन 8-10 पर्सेंट स्टेक अपने पास रख सकती है।
●   इंडस में वोडाफोन और आइडिया के हिस्से को खरीदने का पहला अधिकार इंफ्राटेल के पास है।
●   एक सूत्र ने बताया, 'लीवरेज बायआउट के रूप में भारती इंफ्राटेल 5.5 अरब डॉलर से 6.5 अरब डॉलर तक में 45-50 पर्सेंट स्टेक खरीद सकती है।
●   इसके लिए पैसे का इंतजाम मुख्य तौर पर रिजर्व और इंडस टावर के कैश फ्लो से होगा।'
●   इनवेस्टमेंट बैंकिंग जगत के सूत्रों ने नॉन-लिस्टेड इंडस की एंटरप्राइज वैल्यू इसके एक अरब डॉलर के कर्ज सहित लगभग 11 अरब डॉलर आंकी है।
●   भारती, वोडाफोन पीएलसी, केकेआर, एवी बिड़ला ग्रुप, सीपीपीआईबी, एडीआईए के प्रवक्ताओं ने कमेंट करने से मना कर दिया।

Vice President to inaugurate tomorrow the third International Conference on Yoga

Vice President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu will inaugurate the two-day ‘International Conference on Yoga for Wellness’ tomorrow at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.
●   The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik will preside over the inaugural function.
●   The conference is being organized by Ministry of AYUSH as a part of commemorating the celebration of 21st June as International Day of Yoga declared by the United Nations.
●   Secretary (AYUSH), Shri C.K. Mishra, Special Secretary, Shri Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha and Yoga Gurus of International repute will also be present.
●   About 500 delegates including 69 from 44 overseas countries are registered to attend the conference.
●   Yoga focused deliberations of the conference will be organized in six technical sessions followed by Panel Discussion among 16 interdisciplinary experts from prominent scientific institutions.
●   The thematic areas of deliberations include Yoga research in non-communicable diseases and scope of Yoga in Integrated Medicine, Control of Cancer, Depression, Gynecological disorders and Pain Management.

Union Home Minister to inaugurate First BIMSTEC Disaster Management Exercise tomorrow

The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the four-day First ‘BIMSTEC Disaster Management Exercise- 2017’ (BIMSTEC DMEx-2017) here tomorrow.
●   The Exercise will be conducted by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) as the lead agency from October 10-13, 2017 in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).
●   At the 17th BIMSTEC Senior Officials Meeting held in Kathmandu, Nepal on February 7, 2017, it was decided that India would organize the first annual Disaster Management Exercise for the region.
●   The BIMSTEC DMEx-2017 is being conducted in two phases in Delhi and NCR.
●   The main exercise will comprise of Table Top Exercise (TTX), Field Training Exercise (FTX) and After Action Review (AAR) which is scheduled for October 10-13, 2017.
●   Earlier, the first phase comprising a Preparatory Meeting and field visit of site selected for FTX during the main exercise, was held in Delhi NCR on August 8-9, 2017.

NMCG Approves Eight Projects worth over Rs 700 Crore Under Namami Gange Programme

National Mission for Clean Ganga has approved eight projects worth Rs. 700 crore, out of which four pertain to sewage management in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal, three are related to treatment of drains through bio-remediation and one of inventorization and surveillance of river Ganga.
●   On sewage management front, a project for pollution abatement in river Ganga at Bally in West Bengal has been approved at an estimated cost of Rs 200.07 crore that would include construction of a 40 MLD STP under Hybrid Annuity based PPP model among other works.
●   Similarly, construction of a 65 MLD STP under Hybrid Annuity model has been approved for Bhagalpur in Bihar at an estimated reject cost of Rs 268.49 crore.
●   In Uttar Pradesh, sewage treatment related works at an estimated cost of Rs 213.62 crore have also been approved that includes construction of two STPs (28 MLD + 05 MLD) in Farrukabad and one 2 MLD STP at Bargadiya drain in Fatehpur.
●   Pollution abatement works for river Ganga like interception, diversion and treatment of sewage in Bithoor have also been approved at an estimated cost of Rs 13.40 crore.

The first ever conference of Partner NGOs of WCD Ministry was held in New Delhi today.
●   The Minister of Women and Child Development, Smt Maneka Sanjay Gandhi inaugurated the conference titled “Implementation of Policies, Schemes and Programmes for Women and Children: Challenges and Way Forward”.
●   More than 130 participants from various NGOs across the country attended today’s conference aimed at sensitizing them about the various schemes of WCD Ministry and to give them an opportunity to share their experiences and insights.
●   Addressing the participants, Smt Maneka Sanjay Gandhi said that NGOs play a very vital role since a large numbers of schemes, programmes and policies of the government, which are being implemented at the ground level with the help of NGOs.
●   The Ministry of Women and Child Development has taken up several new initiatives like One Stop Centres, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Women Helpline, National Policy for Women, Bill against Trafficking, National Alliance against Child Abuse amongst many such others, the Minister explained.

India Inc is preparing plans for mega investments for the electric vehicle mission including charging infrastructure worth thousands of crores in cities, batteries and purchase of three-wheelers and cars.
●   Government officials said they have held extensive discussions with more than 50 companies, domestic and foreign, for setting up charging infrastructure – a vital requirement of the country’s ambitious e-vehicle plan.
●   Ola and several local taxi aggregators are also considering bulk purchases of electric three-wheelers and e-rickshaws and lease them, industry executives and officials said.
●   A top official involved in the government’s e-vehicle’s programme said Tata Power, ABB, Acme Industries, and few Dutch firms are actively considering setting up vehicle charging stations, while Exide Industries, Amaron Batteries and Microtek have held discussions with officials about supplying batteries and setting up bulk shops for motorists to swap drained out batteries with charged ones.

Union Home Minister attends Passing Out Parade at CISF Regional Training Centre Arakkonam in Tamil Nadu

The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has said the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) needs to upgrade and technologically advance itself to face and counter any incident of cyber terrorism.
●   Addressing the Passing Out Parade of Assistant Commandants (Executive), Sub Inspectors (Executive) and Assistant Sub Inspectors (Executive) at the CISF Regional Training Centre (RTC) Arakkonam, in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu today, Shri Rajnath Singh said a specialised Wing in the CISF should be created to conduct regular cyber security audits and build capacities to deal with cyber-terrorism.
●   Pointing out that cyber-terrorism has emerged as a major terror threat facing several countries in the world, the Union Home Minister said the cyber terrorists use digital tracks to attack important institutions, buildings and installation.
●   Shri Rajnath Singh also called upon the CISF to conduct regular security audits of all important buildings and installations.
●   The CISF should strengthen its security mechanism based on these audit reports and also by adopting new technological solutions, he added.
●   The Union Home Minister said the CISF needs to maintain its core competence against terrorism so that our strategic installations are not hit by any terrorist group.
●   Shri Rajnath Singh said India is one of the fastest emerging economies of the world.

Richard Thaler awarded with Nobel of economics

Richard Thaler has been awarded the Nobel prize in economics for his work on how psychology influences decision making.
●   The award – officially known as the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in memory of Alfred Nobel, which was first awarded in 1969 – was given to Mr Thaler for his work in “understanding the psychology of economics”, said the prize committee.
●   Richard Thaler is an American economist who is currently professor of behavioural science and economics at the University of Chicago.
●   He is the 79th recipient of the Nobel, which was announced by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm today. He will receive a prize of 9m Swedish krona ($1.1m).
●   The prize committee said that Mr Thaler’s work on incorporating insights from psychology into economics had inspired many other researchers and transformed behavioural economics from being “a fringe and controversial” field to a “mainstream area”.
●   The insights from this area of economics were summarised in Mr Thaler’s popular book “Nudge”, co-authored with Cass Sunstein, and have been increasingly influential in shaping economic policies.

●   आयुष राज्य मंत्री (स्वतंत्र प्रभार) श्री श्रीपद यसो नाइक कार्यक्रम की अध्यक्षता करेंगे।
●   संयुक्त राष्ट्र द्वारा 21 जून को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय योग दिवस घोषित करने के उपलक्ष्य में आयुष मंत्रालय इस सम्मेलन का आयोजन कर रहा है।
●   आयुष मंत्रालय के सचिव श्री सी.के. मिश्रा, विशेष सचिव श्री वैद्य राजेश कोटेचा और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ख्याति प्राप्त योग गुरू भी कार्यक्रम में उपस्थित रहेंगे।
●   44 देशों के 69 प्रतिनिधियों समेत लगभग 500 प्रतिनिधि इस सम्मेलन में हिस्सा लेंगे।
●   सम्मेलन के छह तकनीकी सत्रों में योग विषय पर विचार विमर्श किया जाएगा।

केन्द्रीय गृह मंत्री कल पहले बिम्सटेक आपदा प्रबंधन अभ्यास का उद्घाटन करेंगे

केन्द्रीय गृह मंत्री श्री राजनाथ सिंह कल यहां चार दिवसीय पहले बिम्सटेक आपदा प्रबंधन अभ्यास-2017 (बिम्सटेक डीएमईक्स-2017) का उद्घाटन करेंगे।
●   यह अभ्यास 10 से 13 अक्टूबर, 2017 तक दिल्ली और राष्ट्रीय राजधानी क्षेत्र (एनसीआर) में राष्ट्रीय आपदा मोचन बल (एनडीआरएफ) द्वारा आयोजित किया जाएगा।
●   7 फरवरी 2017 को नेपाल की राजधानी काठमांडू में संपन्न 17वें बिम्सटेक के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों की बैठक में यह निर्णय लिया गया कि भारत इस क्षेत्र में पहले वार्षिक आपदा प्रबंधन अभ्यास का आयोजन करेगा।
●   बिम्सटेक डीएमईक्स-2017 दिल्ली और एनसीआर में दो चरणों में आयोजित किया जा रहा है।
●   मुख्य अभ्यास के अंतर्गत टेबल टॉप अभ्यास (टीटीएक्स), फील्ड प्रशिक्षण अभ्यास (एफटीएक्स) और प्रक्रिया की समीक्षा (एएआर) शामिल है, जो 10 से 13 अक्टूबर 2017 के बीच निर्धारित है।
●   इससे पहले, प्रथम चरण में तैयारी के लिए बैठक और मुख्य अभ्यास के दौरान एफटीएक्स के लिए चयनित स्थान का दौरा, 8 और 9 अगस्त 2017 को दिल्ली-एनसीआर में आयोजित किया गया था।

राष्ट्रीय स्वच्छ गंगा मिशन (एनएमसीजी) ने नमामि गंगे कार्यक्रम के तहत 700 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक लागत की आठ परियोजनाओं को मंजूरी दी

राष्ट्रीय स्वच्छ गंगा मिशन ने 700 करोड़ रुपये लागत की आठ परियोजनाओं को मंजूरी दी है।
●   इनमें से चार परियोजनाएं - उत्तर प्रदेश, बिहार और पश्चिम बंगाल में सीवेज प्रबंधन से संबंधित हैं, जबकि तीन परियोजनाएं जैव-उपचार के माध्यम से नालों के उपचार तथा एक परियोजना गंगा नदी के अन्वेषण और निगरानी से संबंधित है।
●   सीवेज प्रबंधन के क्षेत्र में एक अनुमोदित परियोजना बेली, पश्चिम बंगाल में गंगा नदी में 200.07 करोड़ रूपये की अनुमानित लागत से प्रदूषण रोकने से संबंधित है।
●   इसमें हाइब्रिड वार्षिकी के तहत पीपीपी मॉडल से 40 एमएलडी एसटीपी तथा अन्य कार्यों का निर्माण भी शामिल है।
●   इसी तरह, भागलपुर, बिहार में हाइब्रिड वार्षिकी के तहत पीपीपी मॉडल से 65 एमएलडी एसटीपी के निर्माण की 268.49 करोड़ रुपये की लागत के अनुमानित लागत से मंजूरी दी गई है।
●   उत्तर प्रदेश में 213.62 करोड़ रुपये की अनुमानित लागत से सीवेज उपचार संबंधी कार्यों को मंजूरी दी गई है जिसमें फर्रुखाबाद में दो एसटीपी (28 एमएलडी + 05 एमएलडी) तथा फतेहपुर में बारगड़ीया नाले में 2 एमएलडी एसटीपी का निर्माण कार्य शामिल है।
●   गंगा नदी में प्रदूषण कम करने के लिए बिठूर में 13.40 करोड़ रुपये की अनुमानित लागत से सीवेज के अवरोधन, मार्ग बदलाव और उपचार जैसे कार्यों को मंजूरी दी गई है।

महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्रालय के भागीदार गैर-सरकारी संगठनों के पहले सम्मेलन का आज नई दिल्ली में आयोजन

महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्रालय के भागीदार गैर-सरकारी संगठनों के पहले सम्मेलन का आज नई दिल्ली में आयोजन किया गया।
●   महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्री श्रीमती मेनका संजय गांधी ने "महिलाओं और बच्चों के लिए नीतियों, योजनाओं और कार्यक्रमों का कार्यान्वयन : चुनौतियां और आगे की राह" नामक सम्मेलन का उद्घाटन किया।
●   पूरे देश के विभिन्न गैर-सरकारी संगठनों के 130 से अधिक प्रतिभागियों ने इस सम्मेलन में भाग लिया।
●   जिसका उद्देश्य महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्रालय की विभिन्न योजनाओं के बारे में संवेदनशील बनाना और अपने अनुभवों तथा विचारों को साझा करने का अवसर प्रदान करना था।
●   प्रतिभागियों को संबोधित करते हुए श्रीमती मेनका संजय गांधी ने कहा कि एनजीओ बहुत महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभा रहे हैं क्योंकि सरकार की अनेक योजनाएं, कार्यक्रम और नीतियां जमीनी स्तर पर एनजीओ की सहायता से लागू की जा रही हैं।
●   महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्रालय ने वन स्टॉप सेंटर, बेटी बचाओ, बेटी पढाओ, महिला हेल्पलाइन, महिलाओं के लिए राष्ट्रीय नीति, तस्करी के खिलाफ विधेयक, बाल दुर्व्यवहार के खिलाफ राष्ट्रीय गठबंधन और ऐसी अन्य अनेक पहलें शुरू की हैं।
●   उन्होंने एनजीओ से इन पहलों को लागू करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाने के साथ-साथ बेहतर आपूर्ति के लिए अपने सुझाव देने का अनुरोध किया।

प्रादेशिक सेना ने 68वां स्थापना दिवस मनाया

प्रादेशिक सेना (टीए) ने आज यहां अपना 68वां स्थापना दिवस मनाया।
●   टीए की परम्परा के अनुसार, एडीजी टीए मेजर जनरल डी.ए. चतुर्वेदी ने राष्ट्रपति श्री रामनाथ कोविंद से मुलाकात की और सशस्त्र सेनाओं के सर्वोच्च कमांडर के प्रति सम्मान व्यक्त किया।
●   स्थापना दिवस के अवसर पर देश भर में कई समारोहों का आयोजन किया गया।
●   दिल्ली में टीए ने 02 अक्टूबर, 2017 को नागरिक सेना की सच्ची भावना के अनुरूप अर्द्ध मैराथन का आयोजन किया तथा स्वस्थ जीवनशैली को बढ़ावा दिया।
●   इस समारोह में 5 किलोमीटर, 10 किलोमीटर एवं 21 किलोमीटर की स्पर्धाएं शामिल थीं तथा इसे डीजीएमओ लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल ए.के. भट्ट एवं लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल (मानद) कपिल देव द्वारा दिल्ली कैंट के आर्मी परेड ग्राउंड में झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया।

ई-वीइकल की खातिर चार्जिंग इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर में जुटा इंडिया इंक

देश में इलेक्ट्रिक वीइकल्स की संख्या बढ़ाने के सरकार के लक्ष्य में मदद के लिए इंडिया इंक ने योजनाएं बनानी शुरू कर दी हैं।
●   इनमें इलेक्ट्रिक वीइकल, बैटरियां खरीदना और चार्जिंग के लिए सुविधाएं बनाना शामिल हैं।
●   सरकारी अधिकारियों ने बताया कि उन्होंने देश की महत्वाकांक्षी ई-वीइकल योजना के महत्वपूर्ण हिस्से चार्जिंग इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर को तैयार करने के लिए 50 से अधिक भारतीय और विदेशी कंपनियों के साथ बातचीत की है।
●   इनमें टाटा पावर, एक्साइड, एमरॉन, पावर ग्रिड कॉर्प, एनटीपीसी और एबीबी शामिल हैं।
●   ऐप के जरिए कैब सर्विसेज देने वाली ओला और इस सेगमेंट की कुछ अन्य फर्में भी इलेक्ट्रिक थ्री-वीइलर और ई-रिक्शा खरीदकर उन्हें लीज पर देने पर विचार कर रही हैं।
●   टाटा पावर दिल्ली डिस्ट्रीब्यूशन लिमिटेड ने दिल्ली मेट्रो और दिल्ली नगर निगम के साथ पार्टनरशिप कर मेट्रो स्टेशनों और अन्य संभावित स्थानों पर चार्जिंग स्टेशन बनाने की जानकारी दी है।
●   कंपनी के मैनेजिंग डायरेक्टर प्रवीर सिन्हा ने बताया कि एक फास्ट चार्जिंग स्टेशन के लिए लगभग 25 लाख रुपये के इनवेस्टमेंट की जरूरत है, जबकि अधिक समय में चार्जिंग करने वाले आउटलेट की कॉस्ट करीब 1 लाख रुपये होगी।
●   उनका कहना था कि अगले पांच वर्षों में इलेक्ट्रिक वीइकल्स की सेल्स बढ़ने पर 3 किलोमीटर के क्षेत्र में करीब 300 चार्जिंग स्टेशन की जरूरत होगी।
●   इनमें से प्रत्येक स्टेशन में 4-5 चार्जिंग स्लॉट होंगे।
●   इस लिहाज से पूरी दिल्ली में चार्जिंग स्टेशंस शुरू करने पर पांच वर्षों में करीब 3,300 करोड़ रुपये खर्च करने होंगे।

केंद्रीय गृहमंत्री सीआईएसएफ क्षेत्रीय प्रशिक्षण केन्द्र, अराकोन्नम के पासिंग आउट परेड में शामिल हुए

केन्द्रीय गृहमंत्री श्री राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा है कि साइबर आंतकवाद की किसी भी घटना से निपटने के लिए केंद्रीय औद्योगिकी सुरक्षा बल (सीआईएसएफ) को उन्नत बनाना होगा और तकनीकी रूप से अग्रणी रहना होगा।
●   आज तमिलनाडु के वैल्लोर जिले के अराकोन्नम में सीआईएसएफ के क्षेत्रीय प्रशिक्षण केन्द्र (आरटीसी) में सहायक कमांडेंट, सब-इंस्पेक्टर (एसीक्यूटिव) तथा असिस्टेंट सब-इंस्पेक्टर (एग्सीक्यूटिव) के पासिंगआउट परेड को संबोधित कर रहे थे।
●   श्री राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा कि सीआईएसएफ में एक विशेषज्ञता संपन्न विंग होना चाहिए और सीआईएसएफ को वैसा बल बनना चाहिए जो नियमित रूप से साइबर सुरक्षा का आकलन करे और साइबर आतंकवाद से निपटने की क्षमता विकसित करे।
●   गृहमंत्री ने कहा कि विश्व के अनेक देश साइबर आतंकवाद का सामना कर रहे हैं।
●   साइबर आतंकी महत्वपूर्ण संस्थानों, भवनों तथा प्रतिष्ठानों पर हमला करने के लिए डिजिटल मार्गों का उपयोग करते हैं।
●   राजनाथ सिंह ने सीआईएसएफ से सभी महत्वपूर्ण भवनों तथा प्रतिष्ठानों की साइबर सुरक्षा आकलन करने को कहा।
●   उन्होंने कहा कि सीआईएसएफ को इन आकलन रिपोर्ट के आधार पर सुरक्षा व्यवस्था करनी चाहिए और नए प्रौद्योगिकी समाधानों को अपनाना चाहिए।

अमरीकी अर्थशास्त्री रिचर्ड थेलर को इस साल का अर्थशास्त्र का नोबेल पुरस्कार देने की घोषणा की गई है.
●   उनका नाम 'बिहेवियरल इकॉनॉमिक्स' यानी व्यवहार अर्थशास्त्र का विचार देनेवालों में शुमार होता है.
●   शिकागो बूथ बिज़नेस स्कूल के प्रोफ़ेसर थेलर की लिखी किताब 'नज' बताती है कि लोग किस तरह से ख़राब और बेतुके फ़ैसले करते हैं.
●   प्रोफ़ेसर थेलर ने ये किताब कैस आर स्नस्टीन के साथ मिलकर लिखी है.
●   किताब आदमी की सोच और खर्च करने के उसके तौर तरीके के बीच के रिश्ते की पड़ताल करती है.
●   नोबेल सम्मान का फ़ैसला करने वाले जजों ने प्रोफ़ेसर थेलर के बारे में बताया कि उनके दिए तरीके से लोग खुद पर बेहतर तरीके से नियंत्रण रख सकते हैं.
●   इनाम के तौर पर प्रोफ़ेसर थेलर को नौ मिलियन स्वीडिश क्रोना यानी भारतीय मुद्रा में क़रीब सात करोड़ 30 लाख रुपये मिलेंगे.
●   रिचर्ड थेलर अपने काम के सिलसिले में ब्रिटेन पहुंचे और वहां साल 2010 में पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री डेविड कैमरन के मातहत एक 'नज यूनिट' की शुरुआत हुई.

Prime Minister launches Intensified Mission Indradhanush

"Let no child suffer from any vaccine-preventable disease". This was stated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi as he launched the Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) at Vadnagar in Gujarat, today.
●   Through this programme, Government of India aims to reach each and every child under two years of age and all those pregnant women who have been left uncovered under the routine immunisation programme.
●   The special drive will focus on improving immunization coverage in select districts and cities to ensure full immunization to more than 90% by December 2018.
●   The achievement of full immunisation under Mission Indradhanush to at least 90% coverage was to be achieved by 2020 earlier.
●   With the launch of IMI, achievement of the target has now been advanced.
●   Shri Vijaybhai Rupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri J P Nadda, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Smt. Anandiben Patel, Ex-Chief Minister of Gujarat, Nitin Bhai Patel, Dy Chief Minister of Gujarat and Shankarbhai Chaudhary, Minister of State, Gujarat Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education, Environment and Urban Development were also present at the launch function along with other dignitaries.

Union Home Minister to inaugurate NIA Hqrs Office Complex on 10th October

The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the new Headquarters Office Complex of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) here on October 10, 2017.
●   The Ministers of State for Home Affairs, Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and Shri Kiren Rijiju will also be present at the inauguration ceremony.
●   The foundation stone of the NIA Headquarters was laid by Shri Rajnath Singh on September 10, 2015 and the work has been completed within the stipulated period of 24 months.
●   The NIA, which came into existence on December 31, 2008, initially began operations in Hotel Centaur, New Delhi and thereafter shifted its Headquarters to the NDCC-II Building, Jai Singh Road, New Delhi in June, 2013.
●   In addition to the Headquarters, the agency has expanded its geographical outreach through a network of branch offices located at Lucknow, Hyderabad, Kochi, Guwahati, Mumbai, Kolkata, Raipur & Jammu.
●   Apart from these, the NIA is having its camp offices at Chandigarh, Srinagar, Chennai, Bangalore, Vishakhapatnam, Ahmedabad, Bharuch, Jagdalpur, Patna, Siliguri, Malda, Ranchi, Vijaywada and Imphal.

Shri Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurates Saudi Aramco India Office

Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, today inaugurated Saudi Aramco’s ARAMCO ASIA INDIA office in Gurugram jointly with Mr Amin H Al-Nasser, President and CEO of Saudi Aramco.
●   The office is located at Two Horizon Tower, Gurugram.
●   Saudi Aramco through its subsidiary ARAMCO Asia India (AAI) established its formal business presence in India in 2016.
●   AAI would now formally engage in crude oil and LPG marketing, engineering & technical services, and other business development activities.
●   Speaking on the occasion Shri Pradhan mentioned that India is one of the biggest markets for Saudi oil and LPG.
●   He said that he was delighted to jointly inaugurate the Saudi Aramco's Office in India which will help in strengthening the existing buyer - supplier relationship between the two sides to a strategic partnership in the hydrocarbon sector.
●   ARAMCO India is planning to expand its operation by introducing hydrocarbon sector services functions, including engineering services, IT operations & security and also R&D centre in near future.

Haj Committee presents report on New Haj policy 2018-22 to Shri Mukhrar Abbas Naqvi

Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India had constituted a Committee to review the existing Haj Policy of the Government for 2013-17 and to suggest framework for new Haj policy 2018-22.
●   The Committee presented its Report to the Union Minister of Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi in the presence of Secretary (Minority Affairs), Shri Ameising Luikham, Chairman of Haj Committee of India, Shri Chaudhary Mehboob Ali Kaiser, Ambassador of India in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Shri Ahmed Javed, other Members of HCoI and senior officials of the Ministry of Minority Affairs in Mumbai today.
●   Haj is one of the most complex organizational tasks undertaken by Government of India outside its borders.
●   Although a five day religious congregation, it is virtually a year-long managerial exercise.
●   Indian Haj pilgrims who constitute one of the largest national group perform Haj through two streams - (i) the Haj Committee of India (HCOI), and (ii) registered Private Tour Operators (PTOs).
●   HCOI established under the Haj Committee Act 2002 is responsible for making the arrangements for pilgrims performing Haj through them.
●   All arrangements for the HCoI pilgrims in Saudi Arabia are coordinated by the Consulate General of India, Jeddah.
●   The Haj quota for India fixed by the Saudi Arabian Government was fixed at 1,36,020 after Haj 2013.

The “Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav (RSM)-2017” will be held from 7th to 9th October, 2017 in India’s 1st World Heritage City i.e Ahmadabad, Gujarat.
●   Ms. Sujata Prasad, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Culture addressing the media persons Ahmadabad, Gujarat today said that Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav was conceived by the Ministry of Culture in the year 2015 and after the grand success of the First Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav in November-2015, the Ministry of Culture decided to organize it with an intent to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Country in all its rich and varied dimensions, viz Handicrafts, Cuisine, Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Documentation and Performing Arts-Folk, Tribal, Classical and Contemporary- all in one place.
●   So far, this Ministry has organised 5 RSM’s i.e 2 in Delhi, 1 each in Varanasi, Bengaluru and RSM North East in all NE State capitals.
●   Additional Secretary informed that The Minister of State for Culture (I/C) and Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Dr. Mahesh Sharma will inaugurate the 6th edition of Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav on 7th October 2017 at 7.00 pm at Sabarmati Riverfront Event Centre, A Block in Ahmedabad.

MoU signed between V.V. Giri National Labour Institute (VVGNLI) and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Guwahati

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between V.V. Giri National Labour Institute (VVGNLI) and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Guwahati was signed today by Dr. H. Srinivas, Director General of VVGNLI and Dr. D.K. Srivastava, Deputy Director of TISS, Guwahati in the august presence of Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, the Union Minister of State (IC) for Labour & Employment in Guwahati.
●   Shri Pallav Lochan Das, Minister of State (IC) for Labour Welfare, Govt. of Assam and Smt. M. Sathiyavathy, Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt. of India were also present during the occasion.
●   Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar in his message advised that the good collaborative work proposed to be done in the North Eastern states could also be replicated in the entire country so that all get benefited.
●   Shri Pallav Lochan Das stated that labour laws applicable in other states may not be applicable in Assam due to different local conditions.
●   Hence, there is necessity to devise customized laws.
●   He welcomed the MoU initiated by the Union Ministry of Labour & Employment.
●   Smt. M. Sathiyavathy in her message outlined the activities of VVGNLI and the MoU’s it has with the International Training Center of International Labour Organisation, Turin; IIM Lucknow etc.

CRZ nod to ONGC's Rs 266 crore desalination plant in Maharashtra

State-run ONGC has received the coastal regulatory zone (CRZ) clearance for setting up a seawater desalination plant at its Uran unit in Raigad, Maharashtra at a cost of Rs 266.40 crore, according to an official letter issued to the company.
●   The proposal is to set up a seawater desalination plant with a capacity to process 20 million litres per day (MLD).
●   The proposed site is about 380 meters away from the high tide line (HTL) of Arabian Sea, along the western coast of India.
●   Desalination is a process to remove dissolved minerals from feed water sources such as seawater and brackish water.
●   Desalination of seawater is being increasingly adopted worldwide to cope with the deficit in availability of potable water.
●   In the letter, the environment ministry said it has given the CRZ clearance for establishing a desalination plant in Maharashtra after taking into account the recommendation of its expert panel.
●   The approval is subject to compliance of certain conditions such as obtaining of 'no objection certificate' from Maharashtra Pollution Control Board for discharge of brine water into the sea after necessary safeguards, it said.

प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने कहा है कि यदि टीके से किसी रोग का इलाज संभव है तो किसी भी बच्चे को टीके का अभाव नहीं होना चाहिए।
●   प्रधानमंत्री आज गुजरात के वडनगर में सघन मिशन इंद्रधनुष का शुभारंभ कर रहे थे।
●   उन्होंने कहा कि इस कार्यक्रम के जरिए भारत सरकार ने दो वर्ष की आयु के प्रत्येक बच्चे और उन गर्भवती माताओं तक पहुंचने का लक्ष्य रखा है जो टीकाकरण कार्यक्रम के अंतर्गत यह सुविधा नहीं पा सके हैं।
●   विशेष अभियान के तहत टीकाकरण पहुंच में सुधार के लिए चुने हुए जिलों और राज्यों में दिसंबर 2018 तक पूर्ण टीकाकरण से 90 प्रतिशत से अधिक का लक्ष्य रखा गया है।
●   मिशन इंद्रधनुष के अंतर्गत 2020 तक पूर्ण टीकाकरण का लक्ष्य रखा गया है। इसके तहत 90 प्रतिशत क्षेत्रों को शामिल किया जाना है।
●   प्रधानमंत्री ने लोगों से जोरदार अपील की कि वे मातृ एवं शिशु मृत्यु दर को रोकने के लिए चलाए जा रहे कार्यक्रम को अपनाए और इस दिशा में सरकार को सहयोग दें।
●   प्रधानमंत्री ने सरकार की अन्य उपलब्धियों के बारे में भी जानकारी दी।
●   उन्होंने कहा कि उनकी सरकार 15 वर्षों के बाद नई राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य नीति, 2017 लाई है जो जनकेंद्रित है।

गृहमंत्री श्री राजनाथ सिंह 10 अक्टूबर को एनआईए मुख्यालय का उद्घाटन करेंगे

केंद्रीय गृहमंत्री श्री राजनाथ सिंह 10 अक्टूबर,2017 को नई दिल्ली में राष्ट्रीय अन्वेषण अभिकरण(एनआईए) के नये मुख्यालय का उद्घाटन करेंगे।
●   उद्घाटन समारोह में केंद्रीय गृह राज्य मंत्री श्री हसंराज गंगाराम अहिर और श्री किरण रिजिजू भी मौजूद रहेंगे।
●   एनआईए मुख्यालय की आधारशिला 10 सितंबर,2015 को श्री राजनाथ सिंह ने रखी थी और इसका कार्य निर्धारित 24 महीनो के भीतर पूरा हुआ है।
●   31 दिसंबर,2008 को अस्तित्व में आए एनआईए ने शुरूआत में नई दिल्ली स्थित होटल सेंटूर से कार्य प्रारंभ किया और इसके बाद नई दिल्ली में जय सिंह रोड़ स्थित एनडीसीसी-II भवन से कार्य किया।
●   मुख्यालय के अतिरिक्त एजेंसी ने देश भर में लखनऊ, हैदराबाद, कोच्चि,गुवाहाटी,मुंबई,कोलकाता,रायपुर और जम्मू स्थित कार्यालयो से काम शुरू किया।

●   यह कार्यालय टू होरिज़न टॉवर, गुरूग्राम में स्थित है। सऊदी आर्मको ने अपनी सहायक आर्मको एशिया इंडिया के द्वारा वर्ष 2016 में भारत में अपने औपचारिक व्यापार की शुरूआत की थी।

भारतीय हज समिति ने हज नीति 2018-22 पर रिपोर्ट श्री मुख्तार अब्बास नकवी को प्रस्तुत की

अल्पसंख्यक कार्य मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार ने 2013-17 के लिए सरकार की हज नीति की समीक्षा करने तथा हज नीति 2018-22 के लिए रूपरेखा का सुझाव देने के लिए एक समिति गठित की थी।
●   समिति ने आज (7 अक्तूबर, 2017) मुंबई में केंद्रीय अल्पसंख्यक कार्य मंत्री श्री मुख्तार अब्बास नकवी को अपनी रिपोर्ट प्रस्तुत की।
●   इस अवसर पर सचिव (अल्पसंख्यक कार्य), श्री अमेयसिंग लुइखम, अध्यक्ष, भारतीय हज समिति, श्री चौधरी महबूब अली कैसर, सऊदी अरब में भारत के राजदूत श्री अहमद जावेद, भारतीय हज समिति के अन्य सदस्यों और अल्पसंख्यक कार्य मंत्रालय के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी उपस्थिति रहे।
●   हज भारत सरकार द्वारा इसकी सीमाओं से बाहर किए गए सर्वाधिक जटिल संगठनात्मक कार्यां में से एक है।
●   यद्यपि, यह एक पांच दिन का धार्मिक समागम है, वास्तव में यह वर्ष भर चलने वाली प्रबंधकीय कार्रवाई है।
●   भारतीय हज तीर्थयात्री, जो सबसे बड़े राष्ट्रीय समूह में से एक है, दो माध्यमों से हज करते हैं-(1) भारतीय हज समिति (एचसीओआई) और (2) पंजीकृत निजी टूर आपरेर्ट्स (पीटीओ)।

●   सऊदी अरब में एचसीओआई तीर्थयात्रियों के लिए सभी व्यवस्थाओं का समन्वय भारत के महाकौंसलावास, जेद्दा द्वारा किया जाता है।
●   हज-2013 के बाद सऊदी अरब सरकार द्वारा भारत के लिए निर्धारित हज कोटा 136020 निर्धारित किया गया था।

डॉ. महेश शर्मा 7 से 9 अक्टूबर, 2017 तक अहमदाबाद में आयोजित होने वाले ‘राष्ट्रीय संस्कृति महोत्सव-2017’ का उद्घाटन करेंगे

‘राष्ट्रीय संस्कृति महोत्सव-2017’ का आयोजन भारत के प्रथम विश्व धरोहर नगर अर्थात अहमदाबाद, गुजरात में 7 से 9 अक्टूबर, 2017 मे आयोजित किया जाएगा।
●   संस्कृति मंत्रालय की अपर सचिव सुश्री सुजाता प्रसाद ने आज अहमदाबाद, गुजरात में संवाददाताओं को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि राष्ट्रीय संस्कृति महोत्सव की संकल्पना संस्कृति मंत्रालय द्वारा 2015 में की गई थी और नवंबर 2015 में प्रथम राष्ट्रीय संस्कृति महोत्सव की महान सफलता के बाद संस्कृति मंत्रालय ने देश के सांस्कृतिक रूप से समृद्ध धरोहर को प्रदर्शित करने के उद्देश्य से इसके आयोजन का फैसला किया जहां एक ही स्थान पर इसके सभी समृद्ध और विविध आयामों जैसे हस्तशिल्प, पाक प्रणाली, चित्रकारी, मूर्तिकला, फोटोग्राफी, दस्तावेजीकरण एवं प्रदर्शनकलाओं- लोकगीत, जनजातीय, पारंपरिक एवं समसामयिक का प्रदर्शन किया जा सके।

ओएनजीसी के समुद्री पानी को पाने लायक बनाने का संयंत्र लगाने को पर्यावरण मंत्रालय की मंजूरी

सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र को ओएनजीसी को महाराष्ट्र के रायगढ़ जिले में उरण इकाई में 266.40 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से समुद्री पानी को पीने लायक बनाने का संयंत्र लगाने को लेकर तटवर्ती नियामकीय क्षेत्र सीआरजेड मंजूरी मिल गयी है।
●   प्रस्ताव के तहत कंपनी दो करोड़ लीटर प्रति दिन क्षमता वाले समुद्र के खारे पानी को मीठा बनाने का संयंत्र लगाएगी।
●   प्रस्तावित स्थल पश्चिमी तट के साथ अरब सागर के उच्च ज्वार वाले रेखा एचटीएल से करीब 380 मीटर दूर है।
●   पीने लायक पानी की उपलब्धता की कमी से निपटने के लिये समुद्री पानी से नमक हटाने की प्रक्रिया को दुनिया भर में अपनाया जा रहा है।
●   पत्र में पर्यावरण मंत्रालय ने कहा कि उसने विशेषग्य समिति की सिफारिश के आधार पर महाराष्ट्र में समुद्री पानी को पीने लायक बनाने का संयंत्र लगाने को सीआरजेड मंजूरी दे दी है।
●   यह मंजूरी कुछ शर्तों के अनुपालन पर निर्भर है।
●   इसमें जरूरी सुरक्षा उपाय के बाद प्रक्रिया के बाद निकले पानी को समुद्र में डालने को लेकर महाराष्ट्र प्रदूषण नियंत्रण बोर्ड से अनापाि प्रमाणपत्र लेना शामिल हैं।
●   प्रस्तावित संयंत्र ओएनजीसी की उरण स्थित गैस प्रसंस्करण इकाई के अंतर्गत लगाया जाएगा।
●   इसके लिये 8,750 वर्ग मीटर क्षेत्र निर्धारित किया गया है। इस पर 266.40 करोड़ रुपये की लागत अनुमानित है।

PM lays foundation stone for greenfield airport for Rajkot

●   He laid the Foundation Stones for a greenfield airport for Rajkot; six-laning of Ahmedabad-Rajkot National Highway; and four-laning of Rajkot-Morbi State Highway.
●   He also dedicated to the nation, a fully automatic milk processing and packaging plant; and a drinking water distribution pipeline for Joravarnagar and Ratanpur area of Surendranagar.
●   The Prime Minister said that it was hard to imagine an airport in Surendranagar district.
●   He said such development works empower citizens.
●   He said aviation cannot be about rich people.
●   We have made aviation affordable and within reach of the lesser privileged, he added.
●   The Prime Minister said that the definition of development has changed.

PM to address Digital Saksharata Abhinandan Samaroh tomorrow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 'Digital Saksharata Abhinanadan Samaroh' tomorrow at IIT Gandhinagar.
●   The event will highlight significance of e-literacy in addressing the issue of digital divide and promoting digital financial transactions to digitally empower the society, a statement said.
●   The government runs Pradhanmantri Grameen Digital Saksharata Abhiyan (PMGDISHA) aims to make six crore citizens digitally literate in rural India.
●   The programme also envisages equal opportunity to rural citizens, enabling them to actively participate in nation building and access livelihood through digital technology, devices and services, according to the release.
●   Minister for Electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad, Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar and Gujarat Chief Minister Vijaibhai Rupani will also be present at the event, among others.
●   So far, more than 55 lakh citizens have been registered on the PMGDISHA portal for digital literacy training, out of which more than 22 lakh citizens have been certified after successfully completing the assessment.
●   Around 7,000 training centre operators -- Common Service Centre Village Level Entrepreneurs (CSC-VLEs) from various states will also participate in the event.

Dr Jitendra Singh to inaugurate a Workshop on "Application of GIS technology in Governance" in Surat next week

The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India, in association with the Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA) is organizing a Workshop in Surat, Gujarat next week on the role of Application of GIS technology in Governance.
●   The day-long Workshop will be inaugurated by the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh on October 10, 2017.
●   The inaugural session will be followed by a presentation on the awarded initiative of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) regarding the use of GIS technology at SMC, for the purpose of replication by other urban bodies.
●   It will also deliberate upon Local Area Planning for cities to be implemented by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India as a pilot scheme and coordinated by Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT), Ahmedabad.

Union Home Secretary chairs special meeting of National Executive Committee (NEC) on PM’s 10 Point Agenda on Disaster Risk Reduction

The Union Home Secretary Shri Rajiv Gauba chaired a special meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) to sensitize all the stakeholders about the Prime Minister’s 10 Point Agenda on Disaster Risk Reduction and to discuss implementation of the same, here today.
●   The meeting was attended by Members of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Members of NEC, Relief Commissioners/Secretaries (Disaster Management) & representatives of the States and Union Territories.
●   The 10 point agenda on Disaster Risk Reduction was announced by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi during the Asian Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) held in November last year in New Delhi.
●   Addressing the participants, the Union Home Secretary, Shri Rajiv Gauba, said that 10 point Agenda announced by the Prime Minister is a vision document based on three important global frameworks on disaster and sustainable development, namely Sustainable Development Goal, Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
●   He emphasized that interconnectedness and cooperation among different stakeholders including Central Government, State/UT Governments and other stakeholders could help achieving the targets announced by the Prime Minister.
●   Shri Gauba said that India is one of the most disaster- prone countries. He further added that due to climatic and topographical divergence, different disasters affect different parts of the country.
●   The NDMA can play a role to set up a mechanism for regular monitoring, he added. He also stressed upon the time bound and specific deliverables for disaster risk reduction on implementation of 10 Point Agenda.

●   Briefing the media in New Delhi today, Secretary WCD, Shri Rakesh Srivastava said that the International Girl Child Day is celebrated every year to promote empowerment of girls and reinforce gender equality.
●   It also provides a platform to raise issues, concerns and challenges faced by girls.
●   In order to influence national and mainstream discourse in favour of girls and women and visibility to BBBP, which is one of the flagship programmes of Government of India, Ministry of WCD will be celebrating the BBBP Week, he explained.
●   BBBP Scheme (Celebrate Girl Child, Enable her Education) was launched by the Hon'ble Prime Minister on 22nd January, 2015 at Panipat, Haryana as a comprehensive programme to address the declining CSR and related issues of disempowerment of women over a life-cycle continuum.
●   The Scheme is being implemented in 161 districts of the Country and has completed two and half years of its implementation on ground.

Thousands protest across Australia against giant Adani coal mine

Large protests were held across Australia on Saturday against Indian mining giant Adani Enterprises' proposed Carmichael coal mine, which would be the country's largest coal mine but has been delayed for years over environmental and financing issues.
●   Environment groups say the mine in Queensland state would contribute to global warming and damage the Great Barrier Reef.
●   The "Stop Adani" movement organised 45 protests.
●   On the sands of Sydney's Bondi Beach more than 1,000 people formed a human sign saying '#STOP ADANI', said organiser Blair Palese from activist group 350.
●   The national rallies come as new polling shows more than half of Australians oppose the mine, reported local media.
●   Analysts have raised doubts about whether Adani can fund the mine, at an initial cost of $4 billion, given a global backlash to investment in fossil fuels.
●   Adani says the project would pay billions of dollars in royalties and taxes, create jobs and export coal to India help bring electricity to rural regions.

Rajan among probables for Nobel Prize for economics

Former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan features in the list of probables for this year’s Nobel Prize in Economics, The Wall Street Journal has reported.
●   He is one of the six economists on the list of probable winners compiled by Clarivate Analytics, a company that does academic and scientific research and maintains a list of dozens of possible Nobel Prize winners based on research citations.
●   The entry to the list does not guarantee that Rajan is a front-runner but he is a probable who stands a chance to win.
●   Rajan, whose three year term as Reserve Bank Governor ended on September 4, 2016, is considered a candidate for his “contributions illuminating the dimensions of decisions in corporate finance”, Clarivate said.
●   The Nobel Prize in Economics will be announced on Monday.
●   Rajan, who at 40 was the first non-western and the youngest to become the chief economist at the International Monetary Fund, shot to big fame three years after he predicted a financial crisis at an annual gathering of economists and bankers in the US in 2005.

●   It utilizes radio astronomy and has receiving stations at a minimum distance of 3,000 kilometers (1,900 mi) from a concentrated central core, enabling it to provide the highest resolution images compared to other sub-disciplines of astronomy.
●   It is being developed in the Southern Hemisphere with cores in South Africa and Australia, where there is least radio interference to observe the Milky Way Galaxy.

●   प्रधानमंत्री ग्रामीण डिजीटल साक्षरता अभियान (पीएमजीडीआईएसएचए) सरकार की डिजीटल इंडिया पहल का एक अभिन्न अंग है।
●   इस योजना से ग्रामीण भारत में 6 करोड़ नागरिक डिजीटली साक्षर हो सकेंगे।
●   इस समारोह में डिजीटल इस्तेमाल/डिजीटल वित्तीय कारोबार जैसे मुद्दों की ओर ध्यान दिलाकर डिजीटल साक्षरता के महत्व को उजागर किया जाएगा और लोगों को डिजीटली अधिकार सम्पन्न बनाकर सूचना, ज्ञान, और कौशल तक उनकी पहुंच प्रदान करने में सहायता दी जाएगी।

केन्द्रीय गृह सचिव श्री राजीव गाबा ने आपदा जोखिम कम करने के बारे में प्रधानमंत्री के 10 सूत्री एजेंडा के बारे में सभी साझेदारों को संवेदनशील बनाने के लिए और इसे लागू करने के बारे में चर्चा के लिए राष्ट्रीय कार्यकारिणी की विशेष बैठक की आज यहां अध्यक्षता की।
●   बैठक में राष्ट्रीय आपदा प्रबंधन प्राधिकरण (एनडीएमए), एनईसी के सदस्य, राहत आयुक्त/सचिव (आपदा प्रबंधन) और राज्य और संघ शासित प्रदेशों के प्रतिनिधि शामिल हुये।
●   प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने आपदा जोखिम कम करने के लिए पिछले वर्ष नवम्बर में नई दिल्ली में आयोजित एशियाई मंत्रिस्तरीय सम्मेलन के दौरान आपदा जोखिम कम करने के बारे में 10 सूत्री एजेंडा की घोषणा की थी।

महिला और बाल विकास मंत्रालय द्वारा 9 से 14 अक्टूबर तक बीबीबीपी सप्ताह का आयोजन

महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्रालय द्वारा 9 से 14 अक्टूबर, 2017 तक ‘बेटी बचाओ बेटी पढाओ (बीबीबीपी)’ सप्ताह मनाया जाएगा।
●   इस सप्ताह का आयोजन 11 अक्टूबर, 2017 को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बालिका दिवस के प्रतीक के रूप में किया जा रहा है।
●   कार्यक्रम का विषय "बेटी बचाओ बेटी पढ़ाओ सप्ताह – नए भारत की बेटियां" होगा।
●   आज नई दिल्ली में मीडिया को संबोधित करते हुए, महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्रालय के सचिव श्री राकेश श्रीवास्तव ने कहा कि लड़कियों के सशक्तीकरण को बढ़ावा देने और लैंगिक समानता को सुदृढ़ करने के लिए हर साल अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बालिका दिवस मनाया जाता है।

ऑस्ट्रेलिया में अडानी की कोयला खदान के खिलाफ प्रदर्शन

शनिवार को भारतीय कारोबारी अडानी की कंपनी अडानी एंटरप्राइजेज के खिलाफ ऑस्ट्रेलिया भर में प्रदर्शन हुए।
●   अडानी ग्रुप की प्रस्तावित कोयला खदान के खिलाफ हुए प्रदर्शनों में हजारों लोगों ने हिस्सा लिया।
●   यह परियोजना पूरी हुई तो ऑस्ट्रेलिया की सबसे बड़ी कोयला खदान होगी।
●   पर्यावरण और वित्त से जुड़े मुद्दों की वजह से परियोजना में सालों की देरी हो चुकी है।
●   पर्यावरण के लिए काम कर रहे संगठनों का आरोप है कि क्वींसलैंड स्टेट में बनने वाली यह खदान ग्लोबल वॉर्मिंग का कारण बनेगी।
●   साथ ही ग्रेट बैरियर रीफ को भी नुकसान पहुंचाएगी। 'स्टॉप अडानी' नाम के इस मूवमेंट के तत्वाधान में कुल 45 विरोध-प्रदर्शन हुए।
●   ऐक्टिविस्ट ग्रुप 350 की ऑर्गेनाइजरक ब्लेयर ने कहा कि सिडनी के बोंडी बीच पर 1000 से अधिक लोगों ने 'स्टॉप अडानी' का संकेत बनाया।
●   एक स्थानीय मीडिया के मुताबिक ऑस्ट्रेलिया के आधे से अधिक लोग इस खदान परियोजना का विरोध कर रहे हैं।
●   विश्लेषकों ने संदेह जताया है कि क्या अडानी इस खदान परियोजना की फंडिंग कर पाएंगे।
●   इस परियोजना की शुरुआती लागत 4 बिलियन डॉलर है।

●   क्लैरिवेट ऐनालिटिक्स ने नोबेल पुरस्कार के संभावित विजेताओं की एक लिस्ट तैयार की है। रघुराम राजन को भी इस लिस्ट में शामिल किया गया है।
●   क्लैरिवेट ऐनालिटिक्स अकैडमिक और साइंटिफिक रिसर्च की कंपनी है। वह अपने रिसर्च के आधार पर नोबेल पुरस्कार के संभावित विजेताओं की लिस्ट भी तैयार करती है।
●   वॉल स्ट्रीट जनरल की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक राजन उन 6 अर्थशास्त्रियों में से एक हैं जिन्हें क्लैरिवेट ऐनालिटिक्स ने इस साल अपनी लिस्ट में शामिल किया है।

भारत और दक्षिण अफ्रीका के बीच विज्ञान एवं तकनीकी सहयोग के 20 वर्ष

केन्द्रीय विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी, पृथ्वी विज्ञान और पर्यावरण, वन एवं जलवायु परिवर्तन मंत्री डॉ. हर्षवर्धन की अगुवाई में भारतीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल दक्षिण अफ्रीका के दौरे पर है।
●   भारत और दक्षिण अफ्रीका के बीच विज्ञान एवं तकनीकी सहयोग के 20 वर्ष पूरे होने के अवसर पर आयोजित समारोह में यह प्रतिनिधिमंडल भाग लेगा।
●   भारतीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल के दक्षिण अफ्रीका दौरे का उद्देश्य दोनों देशों के बीच विज्ञान संबंधी सहयोग को और सुदृढ़ करना तथा अंतरिक्ष शोध से लेकर जैव-प्रौद्योगिकी के क्षेत्रों में दोनों देशों के बीच सहयोग के अवसर तलाशना है।

●   बैठक के दौरान ये वैज्ञानिक भारतीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल के साथ विभिन्न विषयों पर अपने गहन अनुभवों एवं अंतर्दृष्टि को साझा करेंगे।
●   मंत्री महोदय ने स्क्वायर किलोमीटर एरे (एसकेए) का दौरा किया, जो एक विशाल मल्टी रेडियो टेलीस्कोप परियोजना है और जिसका विकास ऑस्ट्रेलिया, न्यूजीलैंड तथा दक्षिण अफ्रीका में हो रहा है।
●   इसमें रेडियो खगोल विज्ञान का उपयोग किया जा रहा है और इसके तहत न्यूनतम 3000 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर रिसीविंग स्टेशन स्थापित किये जा रहे हैं।

●   Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Shri Nitin Gadkari and MoS Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Chemicals & Fertilizer Shri Mansukh L Mandavia will accompany the Prime Minister.
●   PM will lay the foundation for construction of Cable Stayed Signature Bridge between Beyt Dwarka and Okha on NH-51.
●   The project cost of the bridge is Rs 962 crore.
●   The other projects for which foundation will be laid include 4 laning of 116.24 km of Porbandar-Dwarka section of NH-51 at a cost of Rs 1600 crore, 2/4 laning of 93.56 km of Gadu-Porbandar section of NH-51 at a cost of Rs 370 crore and 6 laning of 201.31 km Ahmedabad-Rajkot section of NH-47 and NH-27 at a cost of Rs 2893 crore.

First Meeting of India-Australia Joint Steering Committee held

The First Meeting of India-Australia Joint Steering Committee was held here today.
●   Shri TVSN Prasad, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs and Mr. Stephen Bouwhuis, First Assistant Secretary, International and Auscheck Division, Criminal Justice Group, Attorney-General's Department led the respective delegations.
●   Today’s meeting is a follow-up to the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in Combating International Terrorism and Transnational Organized Crime exchanged between the two sides during the visit of Australian Prime Minister Mr. Malcolm Turnbull to New Delhi in April this year and his talks with the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
●   During the Joint Steering Committee meeting the two sides discussed scope for cooperation in counter-terrorism and checking extremism and radicalization besides steps to check illegal financial transactions and counterfeiting and cybercrimes. Issues related to human trafficking and people smuggling, combating illegal drug trafficking and sharing information between law enforcement agencies were also discussed.

●   The aim of the daylong conference is to sensitize partner NGOs across the country for the implementation of various WCD schemes and to give them an opportunity to share their experiences and insights.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labour & Employment, Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar inaugurated the disabled friendly building of National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled (NCSC-DA) in Guwahati today.
●   The Union Minister expressed his desire to expand the Ministry’s footprints in the North East Region with the motive of Labour Welfare at various levels.
●   Shri Gangwar reiterated that the NCSC-DA building would be an inspiration for others to emulate the model apart from bringing positive changes in the lives of Persons with Disabilities.
●   He also applauded the contribution of the State Government not only for their support in the construction of building but also to have synergy in other areas too.
●   The Guwahati building has been constructed at cost of Rs. 10.40 Cr.
●   The land for the building was provided by Government of Assam.
●   The state-of-the-Art building is unique in nature of its kind in the State of Assam and is one among 8 buildings constructed so far for National Career Service Centres for Differently Abled (erstwhile VRCs).

Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labour & Employment, laid the foundation stone for renovation and ugradation of ESIC Model Hospital in Beltola, Guwahati today.
●   While addressing the gathering, Shri Gangwar said that, this hospital will prove a boon for the beneficiaries of ESI Scheme in North Eastern Region in general and beneficiaries of Guwahati in particular.
●   Shri Gangwar also stated that centre is giving special focus on labour welfare and development of North –Eastern States.
●   The Ministry of Labour & Employment is all geared up to for the betterment of the life of the working class of this region.

Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh and Minister for Shipping, Road Transport & Highways and Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurated an alternate sea route to Baratang Island and laid the foundation stone for extension of dry dock in Port Blair, extension of wharf in Hope Town and construction of an additional jetty along with extension of Berthing Jetty in Neil Island at an event in Port Blair in A&N Islands yesterday.
●   Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and Lt. Governor of A & N Islands Prof. Jagdish Mukhi were also present on the occasion.
●   In his address, the Home Minister said that it is his second visit to A & N Islands within six months.

भारत-ऑस्ट्रेलिया संयुक्त संचालन समिति की पहली बैठक का आयोजन

आज भारत-ऑस्ट्रेलिया संयुक्त संचालन समिति की पहली बैठक आयोजित की गई।
●   गृह मंत्रालय में अपर सचिव श्री टीवीएसएन प्रसाद और श्री स्टीफन बाउव्हीस, प्रथम सहायक सचिव, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय और ऑशचेक डिवीजन, आपराधिक न्याय समूह, एटर्नी जनरल डिपार्टमेंट ने संबंधित प्रतिनिधिमंडलों का नेतृत्व किया।
●   आज की बैठक, इस वर्ष अप्रैल में ऑस्ट्रेलियाई प्रधान मंत्री श्री मैल्कम टर्नबुल द्वारा भारत यात्रा के दौरान नई दिल्ली में प्रधान मंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी के साथ अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय आतंकवाद और संगठित अपराध का मुकाबला करने के लिए दोनों पक्षों के सहयोग पर किए गए समझौता ज्ञापन (एमओयू) का अनुपालन है।

राष्ट्रपति भारत जल सप्ताह 2017 का उद्घाटन करेंगे

राष्ट्रपति श्री रामनाथ कोविंद 10 अक्टूबर, 2017 को नई दिल्ली में केंद्रीय जल संसाधन, नदी विकास एवं गंगा संरक्षण मंत्री श्री नितिन गडकरी और केन्द्रीय जल संसाधन, नदी विकास एवं गंगा संरक्षण राज्य मंत्रियों श्री अर्जुन राम मेघवाल और डॉ. सत्यपाल सिंह की मौजूदगी में भारत जल सप्ताह-2017 का उद्घाटन करेंगे।

●   इस अवसर पर केंद्रीय गृह मामले मंत्री श्री हंसराज गंगाराम अहीर और अंडमान एवं निकोबार द्वीपसमूह के उपराज्यपाल प्रो.जगदीश मुखी भी उपस्थित थे।
●   अपने संबोधन में गृहमंत्री ने कहा कि 6 महीनों के अवधि के भीतर अंडमान एवं निकोबार द्वीपसमूह की यह उनकी दूसरी यात्रा है।
●   उन्होंने कहा कि अंडमान एवं निकोबार द्वीपसमूह पर गृह मंत्रालय की परामर्शदात्री समिति की हाल ही में बैठक हुई थी जिसमें द्वीपसमूह से संबंधित विभिन्न समस्याओं और मुद्दों पर चर्चा की गई थी एवं उनके समाधान के उपयों पर विचार-विमर्श किया गया था।

Cabinet approves the Extradition Treaty between India and Lithuania

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval for the signing and ratification of the Extradition Treaty between India and Lithuania.
●   The Treaty would provide a legal framework for seeking extradition of terrorists, economic offenders and other criminals from and to Lithuania.
●   The Treaty would help in extradition of fugitive criminals including terrorists for criminal prosecutions from Lithuania who may have committed crimes against India.
●   It will bring the criminals to justice, with a view to ensure peace and tranquility to public at large.

Cabinet apprised of the MoU between India and Switzerland on Technical Cooperation in Rail Sector

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been apprised of the Memorandum of Understanding between Ministry of Railways, Government of India and the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications of Swiss Confederation on Technical Cooperation in Rail Sector.
●   The MoU was signed on on 31st August, 2017.
●   The MoU will enable technical cooperation in the following areas:-
●   Traction Rolling stock
●   EMU and train sets
●   Traction Propulsion Equipments
●   Freight and Passenger Cars
●   Tilting Trains
●   Railway Electrification Equipments
●   Train scheduling and operation improvement
●   Railway Station modernization
●   Multimodal transport
●   Tunneling technology
●   Ministry of Railways have signed MoUs for technical cooperation in the Rail sector with various foreign Governments and National Railways.
●   The identified areas of cooperation include high-speed corridors, speed raising of existing routes, development of world-class stations, heavy haul operations and modernization of rail infrastructure, etc.

Cabinet approves renaming of Kandla Port as Deendayal Port

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its ex-post facto approval to the renaming of Kandla Port as Deendayal Port.
●   Ports in India are generally named after the city or town in which these are situated.
●   However, the Government, in special cases, after due consideration, have renamed the Ports after great leaders in the past.
●   By renaming Kandla Port as "Deendayal Port, Kandla", a grateful nation would be remembering the invaluable contributions made by one of the greatest sons of India, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.
●   This will inspire the People of Gujarat, particularly the Youth, who may not be fully aware of the contributions made by the great leader.
●   There have been public demands from various quarters in Gujarat, especially from Kachhh district, to rename 'Kandla Port' as 'Deendayal Port, Kandla'.
●   Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay (25.9.1916 - 1.2.1968) was a prominent leader, who pledged his life to the service of the nation.

Government constitutes a High Level Committee for proper management of water resources in North Eastern Region

The Government has constituted a high-level committee for proper management of the water resources in the North Eastern Region (NER) under the Chairmanship of Vice-Chairman, Niti Aayog.
●   This is a sequel to the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s visit to Guwahati in August this year to review the flood situation and relief work in the North Eastern States.
●   The Committee would facilitate optimising benefits of appropriate water management in the form of hydro-electric power, agriculture, bio-diversity conservation, reduced flood damage erosion, inland water transport, forestry, fishery and eco-tourism.
●   Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) will serve as the coordinating point.
●   The Committee will submit its report, including Plan of Action, by June, 2018.
●   During the review of the flood situation with the Chief Ministers of Assam, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, the Prime Minister had announced constitution of a High-Level Committee for holistic management of water resources in the NER.

DRDO Transfers Technology for Bullet Proof Jacket

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has transferred the technology of Bullet Proof Jacket (BPJ) to M/S MKU Limited, Kanpur for manufacturing these for the Indian Army and Para-Military Forces personnel.
●   Chairman DRDO and Secretary Department of Defence R&D Dr S Christopher handed over the technology at a function held in New Delhi, where documents and related licence agreement between DRDO and M/S MKU Limited, Kanpur were exchanged.
●   The Indian Army General Staff Qualitative Requirement (GSQR) No. - 1438 BPJ technology has been developed by Defence Materials & Stores Research & Development Establishment (DMSRDE), a Kanpur based premier laboratory of DRDO.
●   This technology is challenging and one of the most significant matured personal protection systems developed by DRDO among the various GSQRs of Indian Army meeting NIJ III+ Standard.

Turtle Sanctuary to be set up in Allahabad

In order to protect the rich aquatic biodiversity of river Ganga from escalating anthropogenic pressures, development of a Turtle sanctuary in Allahabad along with a River Biodiversity Park at Sangam have been approved under Namami Gange programme.
●   The project at an estimated cost of Rs 1.34 crore would include development of River Biodiversity Park at Sangam (confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Sarasvati), establishment of a Turtle Rearing Centre (Permanent nursery at Triveni Pushp and makeshift annual hatcheries) and awareness about the importance of river Ganga and imperativeness of its conservation has been approved.
●   This project will provide much needed platform to make the visitors aware of their place in the ecosystem, their roles and responsibilities, improve their understanding of the complexity of co-existence with the environment and help generate awareness for reducing the impact of human activities on critical natural resources.
●   The task of dissipating knowledge about river Ganga will be taken up ardently in this project, which is 100% centrally funded.
●   The sustenance of more than 2000 aquatic species including threatened gharials, dolphins and turtles in river Ganga exemplifies the rich biodiversity of this lifeline to over 40 per cent of the country’s population.
●   Rivers Ganga and Yamuna at Allahabad are home to some of the most endangered fauna like turtles (Batagur kachuga, Batagur dhongoka, Nilssonia gangetica, Chitra indica, Hardella thurjii etc.), the National Aquatic Animal - Gangetic dolphin (Platanista gangetica), the Gharial (Gavialis gangeticus) and numerous migratory and resident birds.

Union HRD Minister launches Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed)

A quality programme of National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) for in-service untrained teachers training Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) was launched by Union Human Resource Developement Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar in New Delhi today.
●   The Teacher Training Programme is designed for all Untrained Govt. /Govt. aided /Private unaided recognized in- service Untrained teachers of Elementary Schools & 15 lakh (approx) teachers have been enrolled so far.
●   It is an initiative in Online and Distance Learning (ODL) mode of National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) for upgrading the professional competence and Information and Communication based capacity building for teachers.
●   With an objective of enhancing quality, NIOS has been focusing its attention on the quality and excellence in the training aspects of the in service teachers of Govt. /Govt. aided /Private unaided recognized schools across the country.
●   It is important that trainings are put in place to help develop skills through their job & to retain knowledge, skills need to be refreshed on regular basis.

●   इस संधि में आतंकवादियों, आर्थिक अपराधियों और अन्य अपराधियों के लिथुआनिया से भारत और भारत से लिथुआनिया को प्रत्यर्पण किए जाने हेतु कानूनी फ्रेम वर्क उपलब्ध हो सकेगा।
●   इस संधि से लिथुआनिया से आतंकवादियों सहित भगोड़े अपराधियों के आपराधिक अभियोजन हेतु प्रत्यारोपण में मदद मिलेगी, जो भारत के खिलाफ आपराधिक गतिविधियां कर चुके हैं।
●   इससे बड़े पैमाने पर लोगों में शांति एवं सामंजस्य सुनिश्चित करने की दृष्टि से अपराधियों को न्याय दिलाया जा सकेगा।

रेल क्षेत्र में भारत और स्विट्जरलैंड के बीच तकनीकी सहायता के संबंध में समझौता ज्ञापन (एमओयू)

प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल की बैठक में रेल क्षेत्र में तकनीकी सहयोग के लिए भारत गणराज्य के रेल मंत्रालय और स्विस कंफेडरेशन के फेडरल डिपार्टमेंट ऑफ द इनवायरमेंट, ट्रांसपोर्ट, एनर्जी एण्ड कम्यूनिकेशन्स के बीच समझौता ज्ञापन (एमओयू) के बारे में अवगत कराया गया।
●   इस एमओयू पर 31 अगस्त, 2017 को हस्ताक्षर किए गए थे।
●   इस समझौता ज्ञापन से निम्नलिखित क्षेत्रों में तकनीकी सहयोग प्राप्त होगा :-

मंत्रिमंडल ने कांडला पोर्ट का नाम बदलकर दीनदयाल पोर्ट किए जाने को मंजूरी दी

प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने कांडला पोर्ट का नाम बदलकर दीन दयाल पोर्ट किए जाने को अपनी कार्येतर मंजूरी कर दी है।
●   भारत में बन्दरगाहों के नाम प्राय: उन शहरों अथवा कस्बों के नाम पर रखे जाते थे, जहां पर ये स्थिति हैं।
●   तथापि, सरकार ने विशेष मामलों में पर्याप्त रूप से विचार करने के उपरान्त अतीत में बन्दरगाहों के नाम बदलकर महान नेताओं के नाम पर रखा है।
●   कांडला पोर्ट का नाम ‘दीनदयाल पोर्ट कांडला’ किए जाने से राष्ट्र के इस महानतम सपूत पंडित दीनदयाल उपाध्याय द्वारा किए गए अमूल्य योगदान को याद करते हुए कृतज्ञता प्रकट करेगा।
●   इससे गुजरात के लोग, विशेषकर युवाजन को प्रेरणा हासिल होगी, जो महान नेताओं द्वारा किए गए योगदान से भली-भांति परिचित नहीं होते।
●   गुजरात, विशेषकर कच्छ जिले में विभिन्न संगठनों द्वारा जनता से यह मांग प्राप्त हो रही थी, कि ‘कांडला पोर्ट’ का नाम बदलकर दीनदयाल पोर्ट कांडला कर दिया जाए।

पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र में जल संसाधन के उचित प्रबंध के लिए सरकार ने उच्च स्तरीय समिति का गठन किया

सरकार ने नीति आयोग के उपाध्यक्ष की अध्यक्षता में पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र में जलसंसाधनों के उचित प्रबंध के लिए एक उच्च स्तरीय समिति का गठन किया है।
●   अगस्त महीने में पूर्वोत्तर राज्यों में बाढ़ क स्थिति और राहत कार्यों का जायजा लेने के लिए प्रधानमंत्री की गुवाहाटी यात्रा के बाद यह कदम उठाया गया है।
●   समिति पनबिजली, कृषि, जैवविविधता संरक्षण, अपक्षरण, अंतरदेशीय जल परिवहन, वानिकी मछलीपालन और पारिस्थितिकी पर्यटन के रूप में उचित जल प्रबंधन के लाभों को बढ़ाने में सहायता देगी।
●   पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र विकास मंत्रालय समन्वय कार्य करेगा। यह समिति कार्य योजना सहित अपनी रिपोर्ट जून 2018 तक देगी।
●   असम, मणिपुर, नगालैंड तथा अरुणाचल प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्रियों के साथ बाढ़ की स्थिति की समीक्षा के बाद प्रधानमंत्री ने पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र में जल संसाधनों के समग्र प्रबंधनों के लिए उच्च स्तरीय समिति बनाने की घोषणा की थी।
●   बैठक में कहा गया था कि जल संसाधनों का अधिकतम प्रबंधन बहुपक्षीय कार्य है और इसके लिए बहुक्षेत्रीय सक्रियता तथा ठोस रणनीति की आवश्यकता होगी।
●   इसमें उपरी भाग में जलग्रहण क्षेत्रों का प्रबंधन शामिल है।

रक्षा अनुसंधान एवं विकास संगठन ने बुलेट प्रूफ जैकेट के लिए प्रौद्योगिकी हस्तांतरण किया

रक्षा अनुसंधान एवं विकास संगठन(डीआरडीओ) ने भारतीय सेना और अर्द्धसैनिक बलो के प्रयोग के लिए कानपुर की एमकेयू लिमिटेड के साथ बुलेट प्रूफ जैकेट(बीपीजे) निर्माण के लिए प्रौद्योगिकी हस्तांतरण किया है।
●   डीआरडीओ के अध्यक्ष और रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास विभाग में सचिव श्री एस क्रिस्टोफर ने नई दिल्ली मे आयोजित एक समारोह में प्रौद्योगिकी हस्तांतरण किया।
●   इस दौरान डीआरडीओ और मैसर्स एमकेयू के बीच दस्तावेज और संबधित लाइसेंस समझौते का आदान-प्रदान किया गया।
●   इस प्रौद्योगिकी का विकास डीआरडीओ की कानपुर स्थित प्रयोगशाला रक्षा सामग्री और भंडार अनुसंधान और विकास संस्थान( डीएमएसआरडीआई) ने किया है।
●   कार्यक्रम के दौरान श्री क्रिस्टोफर ने मैसर्स एमकेयू लिमिटेड से भारतीय सेना और अर्द्धसैनिक बलो के लिए बुलेट प्रूफ जैकेट निर्माण के लिए गुणवत्ता की कड़ी निगरानी रखने और डीआरडीओ द्वारा विकसित प्रौद्योगिकी को अपनाने के लिए आपसी सहयोग का अनुरोध किया।

इलाहाबाद में कछुआ शरणस्थली स्थापित की जाएगी

गंगा नदी में समृद्ध जलीय जैव विविधता पर मानवजनित दबाव से रक्षा के लिए नमामि गंगे कार्यक्रम के अंतर्गत इलाहाबाद में कछुआ शरणस्थली विकसित करने और संगम पर नदी जैवविविधता पार्क विकसित करने को मंजूरी दी गई है।
●   1.34 करोड़ रुपये की अनुमानित लागत की इस परियोजना में गंगा-यमुना और सरस्वती के संगम पर नदी जैव विविधता पार्क विकसित किया जाएगा और कछुआ पालन केंद्र (त्रिवेणी पुष्प पर स्थायी नर्सरी तथा अस्थायी वार्षिक पालन) स्थापित किया जाएगा।
●   गंगा नदी के महत्व और इसके संरक्षण की आवश्यकता के प्रति जागरुकता लाने की भी स्वीकृति दी गई है।
●   यह परियोजना एक आवश्यक मंच प्रदान करेगी ताकि आगंतुक अपनी पारिस्थितिकीय प्रणाली, अपनी भूमिका और जिम्मेदारियों को जान सकें और पर्यावरण के साथ सह-अस्तित्व की जटिलता को समझ सकें।
●   इस परियोजना से लोग महत्वपूर्ण प्राकृतिक संसाधनों पर पड़ने वाले मानवीय गतिविधियों के प्रभावों के प्रति जागरुक हो सकेंगे।
●   परियोजना में गंगा नदी के बारे में ज्ञान में आ रही कमी को रोकने के कार्य को उत्साह से किया जाएगा। यह परियोजना 100 प्रतिशत केंद्र पोषित परियोजना है।
●   गंगा नदी में घडि़याल, डॉलफिन तथा कछुए सहित 2000 जलीय प्रजातियां हैं जो देश की आबादी की 40 प्रतिशत की जीवन रेखा की समृद्ध जैव विविधता को दिखाती हैं।

केंद्रीय मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्री ने प्रारंभिक शिक्षा में डिप्लोमा की शुरुआत की

केन्द्रीय मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्री श्री प्रकाश जावड़ेकर ने आज नई दिल्ली में सेवाकालीन अप्रशिक्षित शिक्षकों को प्रशिक्षण हेतु नेशनल इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ ओपन स्कूलिंग (एनआईओएस) के एक उत्कृष्ट कार्यक्रम प्रारंभिक शिक्षा में डिप्लोमा (डी.एल.एड) की शुरुआत की। यह शिक्षक प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम सभी सरकारी/सरकारी सहायता प्राप्त/निजी सहायता रहित मान्यता प्राप्त प्राथमिक स्कूलों के समस्त सेवाकालीन अप्रशिक्षित शिक्षकों के लिए तैयार किया गया है।
●   अब तक लगभग 15 लाख शिक्षकों को नामांकित किया गया है।
●   यह शिक्षकों की प्रोफेशनल दक्षता बेहतर करने और सूचना एवं संचार आधारित क्षमता निर्माण सुनिश्चित करने के लिए नेशनल इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ ओपन स्कूलिंग (एनआईओएस) के ऑनलाइन और दूरस्थ शिक्षा (ओडीएल) मोड में एक पहल है।
●   गुणवत्ता बढ़ाने के उद्देश्य से एनआईओएस देश भर में फैले सरकारी/सरकारी सहायता प्राप्त/निजी सहायता रहित मान्यता प्राप्त स्कूलों के सेवाकालीन शिक्षकों के प्रशिक्षण पहलुओं के तहत उनकी गुणवत्ता और उत्कृष्टता पर अपना ध्यान केंद्रित करता रहा है।
●   इस अवसर पर श्री प्रकाश जावड़ेकर ने कहा कि सभी अप्रशिक्षित शिक्षकों को मार्च, 2019 तक प्रशिक्षित किया जाएगा।
●   शिक्षक और गुणवत्तापूर्ण शिक्षा छात्रों के अधिकार हैं।
●   उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि सरकार शिक्षा प्रणाली में सुधार के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है और सरकार 31 मार्च 2019 तक लगभग 15 लाख अप्रशिक्षित शिक्षकों को प्रशिक्षण देगी और पाठ्यक्रम के सफल समापन के बाद शिक्षकों को डिप्लोमा मिलेगा।
●   उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि ‘स्वयं’ की शुरुआत के बाद पहले वर्ष में हमने ऑनलाइन प्रशिक्षण में विश्व रिकॉर्ड बनाया है।
●   उन्होंने स्पष्ट रूप से कहा है कि 31 मार्च, 2019 के बाद इस प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम की अवधि का कोई और विस्तार नहीं किया जाएगा।

प्रधानमंत्री ने हिमाचल प्रदेश का दौरा किया और बिलासपुर में एम्स की आधारशिला रखी

प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने हिमाचल प्रदेश में बिलासपुर का दौरा किया।
●   प्रधानमंत्री ने बिलासपुर में अखिल भारतीय आयुर्विज्ञान संस्थान (एम्स) की आधारशिला रखी।
●   इस 750 बिस्तर वाले अस्पताल के निर्माण में अनुमानत: 1350 करोड़ रुपये की लागत आएगी।
●   स्वास्थ्य सुविधा के अलावा, यहां नर्सिंग के साथ-साथ स्नातक से नीचे और स्नातकोत्तर स्तर की चिकित्सा शिक्षा भी उपलब्ध कराई जाएगी।
●   प्रधानमंत्री ने प्राथमिक स्वास्थ्य सुविधा के लिए डिजिटल नर्व सेंटरों के शुभारंभ के लिए पट्टिका का भी अनावरण किया।
●   प्रधानमंत्री ने ऊना में भारतीय सूचना एवं प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान (आईआईआईटी) की आधारशिला रखी।
●   प्रधानमंत्री ने कंडरोरी, कांगड़ा स्थित भारतीय इस्पात प्राधिकरण लिमिटेड की स्टील प्रसंस्करण इकाइ का भी उद्घाटन किया।

Admiral Sunil Lanba, Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of the Naval Staff visits Vietnam

Admiral Sunil Lanba, PVSM, AVSM, ADC, Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of the Naval Staff is visiting Vietnam on a bilateral visit from 04 to 07 October 2017.
●   The visit aims to consolidate cooperation between the Armed Forces of India and Vietnam and also to explore new avenues of defence cooperation.
●   During his visit, the Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of the Naval Staff will hold bilateral discussions with His Excellency, Mr Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Hon’ble Prime Minister of Vietnam, His Excellency, General Ngo Xuan Lich, Hon’ble Defence Minister of Vietnam, Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of General Staff and Vice Minister of National Defence, Vietnamese Armed Forces, and Rear Admiral Pham Hoai Nam, Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam People’s Navy.
●   In-addition to holding important bilateral discussions, the Admiral will also be visiting the National Defence Academy of Vietnam, where he will interact with student officers and faculty members and deliver a talk on the ‘Importance of Maritime Power’.
●   He will also visit Vietnam People’s Navy ‘Naval Region 4’, Vietnam Naval Academy and lay a wreath at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
●   India has historical linkages with Vietnam that dates back many centuries, though the countries established formal diplomatic relations in 1972.
●   Defence cooperation between India and Vietnam has been robust with the primary focus being Maritime Cooperation. India signed a Protocol on Defence Cooperation Agreement in 1994.
●   The partnership was thereafter elevated to Strategic Partnership in 2007 and a MoU on Defence Cooperation between the countries was signed on 05 November 2009.

Ministry of Health adjudged best for ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’, receives award

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has been adjudged as the best department for its contribution during Swachhta Pakhwada, an inter-Ministry initiative of Swachh Bharat Mission of Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
●   The Health Ministry observed the Swachhta Pakhwada from 1st February, 2017 to 15th February, 2017.
●   The award was presented to the Ministry on 2nd October, 2017, the third anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission.
●   Shri C K Mishra, Secretary (HFW) received the award on behalf of the Ministry.
●   Swachhta Pakhwada activities were organized and observed within the Ministry offices, in Central Government Hospitals and in public health facilities of the states across 36 States/UTs.
●   More pertinently, in addition to the envisaged activities, some of the key contributions include mass awareness generation initiatives through rallies, street plays, painting competitions etc., leveraging the participation and support of public representatives, NGOs, school children and the community.
●   These activities are considered critical for sustaining the swachhta movement.
●   During the Swacchta fortnight, all hospital/clinics were also directed to install waste bins for segregating waste and massive cleaning drives were undertaken in all the hospital wards and hospital premises.
●   Doctors, nurses and medical staff along with patients and visitors carried out sensitization drives on the importance of safe sanitation and hygiene.
●   The Swachhta Pakhwada culminated with inspection and special sanitation drive undertaken by the Minister for Health and Family Welfare Shri J P Nadda on 15th February 2017.

Rajnath Singh distributes scholarship cheques

The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh distributed eleven scholarship cheques at a function here today to the school going children of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles (AR) personnel who sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation.
●   Remaining 172 scholarship funds were digitally transferred to the beneficiaries by the sponsors, Sarojini Damodaran Foundation (SDF).
●   The SDF initiated the provision of scholarship to children of CAPFs personnel in the year 2016.
●   MHA carried out an exercise and identified 295 children from different CAPFs and AR families and decided about scholarship in consultation with SDF of Rs.6000/- per child.
●   This year 183 children have been identified from different CAPFs and MHA and SDF decided to provide scholarship to these children for subsequent years.
●   In his brief address, the Union Home Minister complimented Shri S.D. Shibulal, Managing Trustee, Sarojini Damodaran Foundation (SDF) for undertaking a noble task and his contribution to nation-building.
●   Shri Rajnath Singh said the SDF has been engaged in several philanthropic activities including care for the elderly and the weaker sections of society.

Chairman NHAI launches new website and PMIS Mobile App

The Chairman of National Highways Authority of India Shri Deepak Kumar launched a world class, new multilingual website of the organization today.
●   He said that within two months it will be possible for the general public to rate National Highways through this website.
●   He also launched a Project Monitoring Information System (PMIS) Moblie App that will facilitate close, in-house monitoring of NHAI projects on a mobile phone.
●   Shri Deepak Kumar said that the NHAI also plans to soon launch a public interface of the PMIS desktop and App versions, so that the general public will be able to view the real-time status of any project across the Highway network.
●   The NHAI website has been developed using state-of-art technologies and provides a centralized platform wherein NHAI’s different software and applications are stitched together and available for browsing in a user friendly manner.
●   Complete information about the organization, HR, projects, policies, videos and project photographs are available on the website.
●   To maintain transparency, the information is in the public domain.
●   Apart from this, as a single point repository of all relevant information, the enterprise applications are mapped to the website, which are for internal use of NHAI.

Vice President Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu launches development of Muktyala – Vijaywada stretch of National Waterways-4 along with Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari

Vice-President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated /laid the foundation stones for several National Highways projects and a project for development of Muktyala to Vijayawada stretch of Krishna River (National Waterways – 4), along with Shri Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport & Highways and Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation at a function in Vijaywada today.
●   Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu was also present on the occasion.
●   Seven NH projects were dedicated to the nation and foundation stones were laid for six NH projects in Andhra Pradesh, the total cost of all the projects being Rs. 4,193 crore.
●   Foundation stone for the Phase-I for development of Krishna River (National Waterway -4) was also laid.
●   In the first phase of the project, the stretch between Muktayala to Vijayawada will be developed for transportation.
●   The total project cost is Rs. 7,015 crore and the length of the waterway 315 km.
●   Speaking on the occasion Shri Gadkari said that the Union Government would spend more than Rs. 1 lakh crore on improving National Highways in Andhra Pradesh and it would give a tremendous boost to the development of the state.
●   He said a six lane access controlled greenfield Amaravathi Expressway will be built to connect the new capital city Amaravathi with Anantapur and also provide connectivity to Kurnool and Kadapa.

Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 to be Held in Hyderabad, November 28-30

A high-level delegation from the Government of India and the United States met today, at NITI Aayog to plan the 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Summit, which will be held November 28-30 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre in Hyderabad, India.
●   The Summit will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Advisor to the President, Ivanka Trump, who leads the U.S. delegation.
●   The GES is the preeminent annual gathering of emerging entrepreneurs, investors, and business leaders from around the world.
●   Through networking, mentoring, and workshops, the GES empowers entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas, build partnerships, secure funding, and create innovative goods and services that will transform societies.

CWC sign MoU with IIT Roorkee and MNNIT Allahabad to support capacity building in dam safety areas under dam rehabilitation and improvement project

Central Water Commission (CWC) has signed MoUs with IIT Roorkee and MNNIT Allahabad to support dam rehabilitation efforts of various implementing agencies and CWC.
●   Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation has taken on board selected premier academic and research institutes, for capacity building in the areas of dam safety through World Bank assisted Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP).
●   The scope includes strengthening the testing laboratories, enhancing analytical capabilities, exposure visits to best global institutions and on ground exposure to dam safety concerns to the faculty of these institutions.
●   CWC has already signed MoUs with IIT Madras, IISc Bangaluru, NIT Calicut and NIT Raurkela for supporting these institutes for the procurement of specified equipment and software for enhancing their testing and modeling capabilities.
●   Last month, CWC facilitated the signing of MoUs by Madhya Pradesh Water Resources Department (MPWRD) and UJVN Limited (UJVNL), Uttarakhand with the Earthquake Engineering Department of IIT Roorkee for assisting MPWRD and UJVNL in the activities related to establishment of seismic instruments, certification of these installations, generation of post seismic event report having an intensity greater than 4.0 on Richter Scale and sharing of these reports with State and Central Agencies, data collection, processing, monitoring, analysis, interpretation, integration of the State Dam Seismological Network (SDSN) with Indian Dam Seismological Network (IDSN) being maintained by National Agencies to exchange the information and help to strengthen the existing seismological network for a strong national perspective plan, and conducting training programmes for the dam owning personnel.
●   DRIP is assisting rehabilitation of 225 dams in seven States which are experiencing different levels of distress.

President Appoints Commission to Examine Sub Categorization of other Backward Classes under Article 340 of the Constitution

The President today i.e. on 02.10.2017, in exercise of the powers conferred by article 340 of the Constitution appointed a Commission to examine the sub-categorisation of Other Backward Classes.
●   This decision, taken on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, reinforces, in the spirit of his teachings, the Government's efforts to achieve greater social justice and inclusion for all, and specifically members of the Other Backward Classes.
●   Sub categorization of the OBCs will ensure that the more backward among the OBC communities can also access the benefits of reservation for educational institutions and government jobs.
●   The composition of the Commission is as follows:

स्वास्थ्य और परिवार कल्याण मंत्रालय को स्वच्छता पखवाड़े के दौरान बेहतरीन योगदान के लिए पुरस्कृत किया गया है।
●   भारत सरकार के पेय जल एवं स्वच्छता मंत्रालय ने स्वच्छ भारत मिशन के अंतर्गत अंतरमंत्रालय प्रदर्शन में इसे सर्वश्रेष्ठ घोषित किया।
●   स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय ने 1 फरवरी, 2017से 15 फरवरी, 2017 तक स्वच्छता पखवाड़े का आयोजन किया था।
●   स्व्च्छ भारत मिशन की तीसरी वर्षगांठ पर 2 अक्टूबर, 2017को यह पुरस्कार प्रदान किया गया।
●   स्वास्थ्य परिवार कल्याण मंत्रालय के सचिव श्री सी.के. मिश्रा ने यह पुरस्कार ग्रहण किया।
●   स्वच्छता पखवाड़ा के दौरान मंत्रालय के कार्यालयो, केंद्र सरकार के अस्पतालों, 36 राज्यों/ केंद्रशासित प्रदेशों के जनस्वास्थ्य सुविधा केंद्र में स्वच्छता से जुड़ी गतिविधियां चलाई गई।

गृहमंत्री ने केन्द्रीय सशस्त्र पुलिस बलों और असम राइफल्स के जवानों के बच्चों को छात्रवृत्ति चैक दिये

केन्द्रीय गृहमंत्री राजनाथ सिंह ने आज यहां एक समारोह में केन्द्रीय सशस्त्र पुलिस बलों (सीएपीएफ) और असम राइफल्स (एआर) के उन जवानों के स्कूली बच्चों को 11 छात्रवृत्ति चैक प्रदान किये, जिन्होंने देश सेवा में अपने प्राणों की आहूति दे दी।
●   शेष 172 छात्रवृत्तियों की राशि प्रायोजक, सरोजिनी दामोदरन फाउंडेशन (एसडीएफ) द्वारा लाभान्वितों को सीधे डिजीटली हस्तांतरित कर दी गई।
●   एसडीएफ ने केन्द्रीय सशस्त्र पुलिस बलों के जवानों के बच्चों के लिए वर्ष 2016 में छात्रवृत्ति का प्रावधान किया था।
●   गृह मंत्रालय ने विभिन्न सीएपीएफ और एआर परिवारों के 295 बच्चों की पहचान की और एसडीएफ के साथ सलाह मशविरा करके प्रत्येक बच्चे को 6,000 रूपये छात्रवृत्ति देने का फैसला किया।
●   इस वर्ष विभिन्न सीएपीएफ से 183 बच्चों की पहचान की गई और गृह मंत्रालय और एसडीएफ ने इन बच्चों को आगामी वर्षों में छात्रवृत्ति प्रदान करने का फैसला किया।
●   अपने संक्षिप्त संबोधन में केन्द्रीय गृहमंत्री ने सरोजिनी दामोदरन फाउंडेशन (एसडीएफ) के प्रबंधन ट्रस्टी श्री एस.डी शीबूलाल को यह उत्कृष्ट कार्य हाथ में लेने और राष्ट्र निर्माण में उनके योगदान के लिए बधाई दी।
●   श्री राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा कि एसडीएफ बुजुर्ग व्यक्तियों और समाज के कमजोर वर्गों के लोगों की देखभाल सहित अनेक लोकोपकारी कार्यों में लगा हुआ है।

एनएचएआई के अध्यक्ष ने नई वेबसाइट और पीएमआईएस मोबाइल एप लॉन्च किया

राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग प्राधिकरण के अध्यक्ष श्री दीपक कुमार ने आज संगठन की विश्वस्तरीय नई बहुभाषी वेबसाइट लॉन्च की।
●   उन्होंने कहा कि दो महीने के भीतर आम लोग इस वेबसाइट के माध्यम से राष्ट्रीय राजमार्गों की रेटिंग कर पाएंगे।
●   इस अवसर पर उन्होंने एक प्रोजेक्ट मॉनिटरिंग इन्फॉर्मेशन सिस्टम (पीएमआईएस) मोबाइल एप भी लॉन्च किया जो मोबाइल फोन पर राष्ट्रीय राजमार्गों से संबंधित परियोजनाओं की इन-हाउस मॉनिटरिंग की सुविधा प्रदान करेगा।
●   श्री दीपक कुमार ने कहा कि एनएचएआई जल्द ही पीएमआईएस डेस्कटॉप और एप संस्करणों का एक सार्वजनिक इंटरफेस लॉन्च करने की योजना बना रहा है, ताकि आम जनता राजमार्ग नेटवर्क के किसी भी परियोजना की वास्तविक समय स्थिति को देख सकें।
●   एनएचएआई की वेबसाइट को अत्याधुनिक प्रौद्योगिकियों का उपयोग कर तैयार किया गया है और यह एक केन्द्रियकृत मंच प्रदान करता है।
●   इसमें एनएचएआई के विभिन्न सॉफ्टवेयर और एप्लिकेशन एक दूसरे से जुड़े हुए हैं तथा उपयोगकर्ताओं के अनुकूल प्रयोग करने के लिए उपलब्ध हैं।

उपराष्ट्रपति एम.वेंकैया नायडू ने केंद्रीय मंत्री श्री नीतिन गडकरी के साथ राष्ट्रीय जलमार्ग-4 के मुक्तयाला-विजयवाड़ा खंड की विकास परियोजना को लांच किया

उपराष्ट्रपति श्री एम.वेकैया नायडू ने आज विजयवाड़ा में आयोजित समारोह में केंद्रीय शिपिंग, सड़क परिवहन व राजमार्ग तथा जल संसाधन, नदी विकास और गंगा संरक्षण मंत्री श्री नीतिन गडकरी के साथ अनेक राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग परियोजनाओं तथा कृष्णा नदी (राष्ट्रीय जलमार्ग-4) मुक्तयाला से विजयवाड़ा खंड के विकास परियोजना को लांच किया।
●   इस अवसर पर आंध्र प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री श्री एन.चंद्रबाबू नायडू भी मौजूद थे।
●   सात राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग परियोजनाएं राष्ट्र को समर्पित की गई और आंध्र प्रदेश में 6 राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग परियोजनाओं की आधार शिला रखी गई।
●   सभी परियोजनाओं की अनुमानित लागत 4,193 करोड़ रुपये है।
●   कृष्णा नदी (राष्ट्रीय जलमार्ग-4) के विकास के लिए पहले चरण के कामकी आधारशिला भी रखी गई।
●   परियोजना के पहले चरण में परिवहन के लिए मुक्तियाला से विजयवाड़ा खंड को विकसित किया जाएगा।
●   परियोजना की कुल अनुमानित लागत 7,015 करोड़ रुपये है और जल मार्ग की लम्बाई 315 किलोमीटर है।
●   इस अवसर पर श्री गडकरी ने कहा कि केंद्र सरकार आंध्र प्रदेश में राष्ट्रीय राजमार्गों को सुधारने पर एक लाख करोड़ रुपये से अधिक खर्च करेगी।
●   इससे राज्य के विकास को बहुत अधिक तेजी मिलेगी।
●   उन्होंने कहा कि 6 लेन की एक्सेस नियंत्रित ग्रिनफिल्ड अमरावती एक्सप्रेस-वे बनाया जाएगा ताकि राजधानी अमरावती को अनंतपुर से जोड़ा जा सके और कुरनुल और कडपा से संपर्क स्थापित हो सके।
●   कुल 557 किलो मीटर लम्बाई की परियोजना स्वीकृत की गई है और इस पर 25,000 करोड़ रुपये की लागत आएगी।

वैश्विक उद्यमशीलता सम्मेलन 2017 का आयोजन 28 से 30 नवंबर के बीच हैदराबाद में होगा

सीडब्ल्यूसी ने बांधों की सुरक्षा के क्षेत्र में क्षमता निर्माण में सहयोग देने के लिए आईआईटी रूड़की और एमएनएनआईटी इलाहाबाद के साथ समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किये

केन्द्रीय जल आयोग (सीडब्ल्यूसी) ने विभिन्न कार्यान्वयन एजेंसियों और सीडब्ल्यूसी के बांध पुनरूद्धार प्रयासों में सहयोग देने के लिए आईआईटी रूड़की और एमएनएनआईटी इलाहाबाद के साथ समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किये हैं।
●   जल संसाधन मंत्रालय, नदी विकास और गंगा संरक्षण ने विश्व बैंक की सहायता से बांधों के पुनरूद्धार और सुधार परियोजना (डीआरआईबी) के जरिये बांधों की सुरक्षा के क्षेत्र में क्षमता निर्माण के लिए कुछ चुने हुए प्रमुख शैक्षणिक और अनुसंधान संस्थानों को अपने साथ लिया है।
●   इसमें परीक्षण प्रयोगशालाओं को मजबूत बनाना, विश्लेषण की क्षमता बढ़ाना, दुनिया के सर्वश्रेष्ठ संस्थानों का दौरा और इन संस्थानों के प्राध्यापक को बांध की सुरक्षा से जुड़े मुद्दों से अवगत कराना शामिल है।
●   सीडब्ल्यूसी आईआईटी मद्रास, भारतीय विज्ञान संस्थान बेंगलूरू, एनआईटी कालीकट और एनआईटी राउरकेला के साथ समझौता ज्ञापनों पर पहले ही हस्ताक्षर कर चुका है, जिससे इन संस्थानों को विशेष उपकरण और सॉफ्टवेयर खरीदने के लिए सहायता दी जा सके, ताकि उनकी परीक्षण और मॉडलिंग क्षमताएं बढ़ सकें।
●   पिछले महीने सीडब्ल्यूसी ने मध्य प्रदेश जल संसाधन विभाग (एमपीडब्ल्यूआरडी) और यूजेवीएन लिमिटेड (यूजेवीएनएल), उत्तराखंड के साथ भूकंप संबंधी उपकरणों को स्थापित करने, इन प्रतिष्ठानों का प्रमाणीकरण, रिक्टर पैमाने पर 4.0 से अधिक तीव्रता वाले भूकंप के बाद उसकी रिपोर्ट और इन रिपोर्टो का राज्य और केन्द्रीय एजेंसियों के साथ आदान-प्रदान, आंकड़ों का संग्रहण, प्रोसेसिंग, निगरानी, विश्लेषण, विवेचना, सूचना के आदान-प्रदान के लिए राष्ट्रीय एजेंसियों द्वारा संभाल कर रखे गये भारतीय बांध भूकंप विज्ञान नेटवर्क के साथ राज्य बांध भूकंप विज्ञान नेटवर्क को जोड़ना और एक मजबूत राष्ट्रीय योजना के लिए वर्तमान भूकंप विज्ञान नेटवर्क को मजबूत बनाने के उद्देश्य से एमपीडब्ल्यूआरडी और यूजेवीएनएल को सहायता देने के लिए आईआईटी रूड़की के भूकंप इंजीनियरिंग विभाग के साथ समझौता ज्ञापनों को आगे बढ़ाया था।
●   डीआरआईपी सात राज्यों में ऐसे 225 बांधों के पुनरूद्धार के लिए सहायता दे रहा है, जो विभिन्न स्तरों पर संकट का सामना कर रहे हैं।
●   इन बांधों के मालिकों को बांध की स्थितियों की जांच और पुनरूद्धार प्रयासों में सहायता के लिए तकनीकी सहायता की आवश्यकता है।
●   सरकार ने बांध सुरक्षा के क्षेत्रों में कुछ चुने हुए शैक्षणिक संस्थानों की क्षमता बढ़ाने का फैसला किया है, ताकि वे क्षेत्र में जाकर जांच और सामग्री का परीक्षण कर सकें और बांध के पुनरूद्धार प्रयासों में बांध के मालिकों को प्रशिक्षण और परामर्श सेवाएं प्रदान कर सकें।

राष्ट्रपति ने संविधान के अनुच्छेद 340 के अंर्तगत अन्य पिछडे वर्गो के उप-वर्गीकरण के परीक्षण के लिए आयोग की नियुक्ति की

राष्ट्रपति श्री रामनाथ कोविंद ने आज संविधान के अनुच्छेद 340 के तहत प्रदत्त शक्तियों का प्रयोग करते हुए अन्य पिछड़े वर्गो के उप-वर्गीकरण के परीक्षण के एक आयोग की नियुक्ति की है।
●   महात्मा गांधी की जयंती के अवसर पर लिया गया यह निर्णय गांधी जी की शिक्षा के अनुरूप सरकार के सभी को सामाजिक न्याय दिलाने के लक्ष्य को प्राप्त करने और विशेष तौर पर अन्य पिछड़े वर्ग के सदस्यो सहित सभी को सम्मिलित करने के प्रयास को दर्शाता है।
●   अन्य पिछड़े वर्गो का उप-वर्गीकरण अन्य पिछड़े वर्ग समुदाय में अधिक पिछड़े लोगो को शैक्षणिक संस्थानो और सरकारी नौकरियो में आरक्षण का लाभ सुनिश्चित करेगा। आयोग के गठन निम्नानुसार होगा

Thaawarchand Gehlot Flags off “WALKATHON” for Older Persons at India Gate to mark ‘International Day of Older Persons’

To mark the ‘International day of Older Persons’ on 2nd October, more than 5000 participants gathered at India Gate for a noble cause to spread the message of caring and giving respect to older persons and senior citizens.
●   This year’s theme was “Stepping into the Future: Tapping the Talents, Contributions and Participation of Older Persons in Society
●   Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment along with the Minister of State Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, took the pledge with other dignitaries and 5000 participants.
●   Then the “Walkathon” was flagged off by Shri Thawarchand Gehlot & MOS Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar and they also took part in 1 km Walkathon with all the dignitaries.
●   In his address, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot said that the Government is committed to the welfare of Older Persons and the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment is running two important schemes namely “Vriddh Jan Grah Yojana and Day Care Centres” for Older Persons all over India and Non Government Organizations and Voluntary Organizations are also participating in these schemes.
●   He urged the people especially the young generation to accord due respect to older persons in their families.
●   On the International Day of Older Persons, every year since 2005 the mass awareness event “Walkathon” is being held at India Gate. National Institute of Social Defense (NISD) and Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.

Vice President to lay foundation stone for the development of Muktyala to Vijaywada stretch of Krishna River

The Vice President Shri Venkaiah Naidu will lay the foundation stone for the development of Muktyala to Vijayawada stretch of Krishna River (National Waterways – 4) tomorrow in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
●   He will also inaugurate approximately 415 km of National Highways projects worth Rs 1928.46 crores and lay the foundation stone for another 250 km NH projects worth Rs 2539.08 crores.
●   The Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation Shri Nitin Gadkari and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shri N Chandrababu Naidu will also be present on this occasion.
●   As per MoU signed with Govt. of Andhra Pradesh on 14th April,2016, NW-4 in Andhra Pradesh is proposed to be developed in three phases
●   Phase-I: -Muktyala to Vijayawada (Krishna River) (82 Km)
●   Phase-II: -Vijayawada to Kakinada (Eluru canal & Kakinada canal) and Rajahmundry to Polavaram stretch of Godavari (233 Km)

Vice-President Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu unveils the 1.80 metre bronze statue

Rajghat, the Samadhi of the Father of the Nation in the national capital , has for the first time acquired a new feature that could appeal to the large number of visitors.
●   Vice-President of India Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu today unveiled a 1.80 metre tall bronze statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of the 148 Birth Anniversary of the champion of country’s independence.
●   The statue, sculpted by the renowned Shri Ram Sutar is installed in the Parking Area of Rajghat Samadhi Complex at a cost of Rs.8.73 lakhs.
●   It is mounted on a two feet high pedestal clad with granite. The famous message of Gandhi ji “Be the Change You Wish to See” is inscribed on the front side of the pedestal.
●   Installation of the Statue is a part of a large number of improvement works at Rajghat undertaken during the last three years.
●   Over 10,000 people visiting Rajghat daily and foreign dignitaries pay homage to the Father of the Nation at the simple black stone platform marking the place where Gandhi ji was cremated.
●   The new statute would offer another spot for them to pay their respect to the great soul.

President announces Rural Gujarat ODF

The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, visited Kirti Mandir, Porbandar, the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi today (October 2, 2017), and paid his tributes to Bapu on Gandhi Jayanti.

Government will sell strategic stake in 5 companies before March

The government is pushing for strategic stake sale in five companies in this financial year.
●   For this, it has accelerated valuation of these companies and final approval process.
●   Some of these companies will be offered a package as a package for expansion in the future, to increase the interest of investors.
●   Advisors have been made to sell strategic stake in Scooters India, Bharat Earth Movers Limited and Pawan Hans Limited.
●   Apart from these, there is a plan to sell strategic stake in Central Electronics Limited, Bharat Pumps & Compressors Limited, Bridge and Roof Company.
●   At the same time, the government has started the process of strategic cell in Air India.

HPCL wins Rs 806 crore in arbitration award against M3nergy

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation has won an arbitration award of Rs 806 crore against Malaysia’s M3nergy Berhad.
●   The state-run oil marketing company had initiated arbitration proceeding against M3nergy in 2009 over termination of an exploration contract ONGC had awarded to a consortium of HPCL, M3nergy and Prize Petroleum for development of some offshore fields off Mumbai.
●   In an order passed last week, two of three arbitrators found the Malaysian oil field equipment maker’s delay in supplying to HPCL resulted in a loss of profit of $91.3 million, and awarded interest of 9 per cent per year on that amount since 2009.
●   The award fixed the exchange rate at Rs 48.68 to a dollar.
●   At the moment the rupee is at 65 to a dollar.
●   Hence, HPCL plans to file a request with arbitrators for conversion of the award value into current exchange rate, which would increase the amount to Rs 1,046 crore, a person familiar with the company’s plans said.

●   Mr. Trump spoke with Nevada's governor and the mayor and sheriff of Las Vegas, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said.
●   Mr. Trump held a moment of silence for the victims Monday afternoon and will travel Wednesday to Las Vegas.

Jagmeet Singh elected leader of Canada's NDP

Jagmeet Singh has been elected the new leader of Canada's New Democratic Party (NDP), a result the leftist party hopes will reinvigorate its support after a disappointing showing in the last federal election.
●   Singh was elected with 53.6 percent of the vote, the NDP announced on Sunday afternoon.
●   "I don't have the words to capture this journey and how this feels right now," Singh, surrounded by his family and campaign team, told a crowd of NDP members in downtown Toronto.
●   "It's an incredibly profound honour. Thank you," Singh said.
●   A total of 65,782 votes were cast in the leadership contest, as NDP members filed ranked ballots between September 18 and early afternoon on Sunday.
●   Singh, who is Sikh and wears a turban, beat three other NDP leadership hopefuls to become the first person of colour to lead a federal political party in Canadian history.
●   The second-place finisher, Ontario MP Charlie Angus, garnered 19.3 percent of the vote.

●   श्री नायडू 1928.46 करोड़ रूपए की लागत से 415 किलोमीटर की राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग परियोजनाओ का उद्घाटन करेंगे और 2539.08 करोड़ रूपए लागत की 250 किलोमीटर की राष्ट्रीय परियोजनाओ की नींव रखेंगे।
●   इस अवसर पर केंद्रीय सड़क परिवहन और राजमार्ग, शिपिंग और जल संसाधन,नदी विकास और गंगा संरक्षण मंत्री श्री नितिन गडकरी और आंध्रप्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री श्री एन चंद्रबाबू नायडू भी उपस्थित रहेंगे।

उपराष्ट्रपति एम. वैंकेया नायडू ने राजघाट में महात्मा गांधी की कांस्य प्रतिमा का अनावरण किया

राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में राष्ट्रपति की समाधि, राजघाट को पहली बार एक नयी विशेषता हासिल की है जो भारी संख्या में आगंतुकों को आकर्षित करती है।
●   भारत के उपराष्ट्रपति एम. वैंकेया नायडू ने आज स्वतंत्र भारत के शूरवीर की 148वीं जन्मशताब्दी पर महात्मा गांधी की 1.80 लम्बी कांस्य प्रतिमा अनावरण किया।
●   श्री राम सुतार द्वारा तराशी गई प्रतिमा को राजघाट समाधि परिसर के पार्किग क्षेत्र में 8.73 लाख रूपये की लागत से स्थापित किया गया है।
●   यह 2 फीट ऊँचे मूर्तितल पर ग्रेनाइट धातु में लिपटा हुआ है।
●   मूर्तितल के सामने की दिशा में गांधी जी का प्रसिद्ध संदेश “जो बदलाव आप देखना चाहते हैं, वही बनो” को उत्कीर्ण किया गया है।
●   प्रतिमा को स्थापित करना, गत तीन वर्षों में राजघाट में किए गए बहुसंख्य सुधार कार्यों का हिस्सा है।
●   प्रतिदिन 10 हजार लोग राजघाट आते है और विदेशी मान्यगण, सादे काले रंग के पत्थर के चबूतरे पर जहाँ गांधी जी का दाह संस्कार किया गया था, उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करते है।
●   यह नई प्रतिमा उस महान आत्मा को सम्मान देने के लिए एक अन्य स्थान प्रदान करेगी।
●   श्री वैंकेया नायडू ने परिसर के पार्किग क्षेत्र में व्याख्या केन्द्र का उद्धाटन भी किया।
●   5.9 लाख की यह सुविधा एलईडी स्क्रीन पर डिजिटल डिसप्ले द्वारा महात्मा के जीवन और कार्यो के बारे में संवादमूलक व्याख्या सीखने की सुविधा प्रदान करती हैं।

राष्ट्रपति श्री रामनाथ कोविंद ने ग्रामीण गुजरात को खुले में शौच से मुक्त घोषित किया

राष्ट्रपति श्री रामनाथ कोविंद ने आज महात्मा गांधी की जन्मस्थली कीर्ति मंदिर, पोरबंदर का दौरा किया और गांधी जयन्ती के अवसर पर उन्हें अपनी श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की।

मार्च से पहले 5 कंपनियों में रणनीतिक हिस्सेदारी बेचेगी सरकार

सरकार इस वित्त वर्ष में अपनी पांच कंपनियों में रणनीतिक हिस्सेदारी बेचने के लिए जोर लगा रही है।
●   उसने इसके लिए इन कंपनियों के वैल्यूएशन और फाइनल अप्रूवल प्रोसेस को तेज कर दिया है।
●   इनमें से कुछ कंपनियों में निवेशकों की दिलचस्पी जगाने के लिए भविष्य में एक्सपैंशन के लिए जमीन भी पैकेज के तौर पर ऑफर की जाएगी।
●   स्कूटर्स इंडिया, भारत अर्थ मूवर्स लिमिटेड और पवन हंस लिमिटेड में रणनीतिक हिस्सेदारी बेचने के लिए सलाहकार अप्वाइंट किए जा चुके हैं।
●   इनके अलावा, सेंट्रल इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स लिमिटेड, भारत पंप्स एंड कंप्रेसर्स लिमिटेड, ब्रिज एंड रूफ कंपनी में भी रणनीतिक हिस्सेदारी बेचने की योजना है।
●   वहीं, सरकार ने एयर इंडिया में भी स्ट्रैटेजिक सेल का प्रोसेस शुरू कर दिया है।
●   इस बारे में एक बड़े सरकारी अधिकारी ने बताया, 'विनिवेश तेज करने के लिए जो वैकल्पिक व्यवस्था की गई है, उसके तहत इन्हें मंजूरी के लिए जल्द ही पेश किया जाएगा।
एचपीसीएल ने मलेशियाई कंपनी से 806 करोड़ का आर्बिट्रेशन जीता

सरकारी ऑयल मार्केटिंग कंपनी हिंदुस्तान पेट्रोलियम कॉर्प ने मलेशिया की एम3नर्जी के खिलाफ 806 करोड़ रुपये के आर्बिट्रेशन मामले में जीत हासिल की है।

●   यह मामला 2009 से चल रहा था।
●   हाल के समय में किसी सरकारी कंपनी की विदेश में इस तरह के मामले में यह पहली जीत है।
●   इससे पहले कुछ सरकारी कंपनियों को इंटरनेशनल आर्बिट्रेशन के मामलों में हार का सामना करना पड़ा था।
●   एचपीसीएल अब मलेशिया जाकर इस रकम पर दावा कर सकती है।
●   अगर एम3नर्जी इस फैसले को भारतीय अदालत में चुनौती देना चाहेगी तो उसे पहले बॉम्बे हाई कोर्ट के पास यह रकम जमा करानी होगी।
●   एचपीसीएल अब आर्बिट्रेटर्स के पास एक निवेदन दाखिल कर इस रकम को रुपये के मुकाबले डॉलर के मौजूदा रेट में बदलने को कहने की योजना बना रही है।
●   आर्बिट्रेटर्स ने यह रकम 2009 के एक्सचेंज रेट पर तय की है।
●   अगर इसे वर्तमान एक्सचेंज रेट पर दिया जाता है तो यह बढ़कर 1,046 करोड़ रुपये हो जाएगी।
●   पिछले सप्ताह दिए गए ऑर्डर में तीन आर्बिट्रेटर्स में से दो ने मलेशिया की ऑयल फील्ड इक्विपमेंट मेकर एम3नर्जी को एचपीसीएल को सप्लाई करने में देरी करने का दोषी पाया, जिससे कंपनी को 9.13 करोड़ डॉलर के प्रॉफिट और उस रकम पर 2009 से सालाना 9 पर्सेंट के इंटरेस्ट का नुकसान हुआ था।

अमेरिका के लास वेगस के कसीनो में फायरिंग, 58 की मौत, 500 से ज्यादा घायल

अमेरिका के लास वेगस में सोमवार को हथियारबंद हमलावर ने एक कसीनो में चल रहे म्यूजिक कॉन्सर्ट को मातम में बदल दिया।
●   हमलावर ने अंधाधुंध फायरिंग कर 58 लोगों की हत्या कर दी।
●   इसमें 500 से ज्यादा लोग घायल हुए हैं।
●   बाद में हमलावर भी मारा गया।
●   लास वेगस मेट्रोपोलिटन पुलिस डिपार्टमेंट के शेरिफ जोसेफ लोम्बार्डो ने सीएनएन को बताया, 'हमें लगता है कि हमलावर ने खुद को मार लिया।'
●   पुलिस के मुताबिक, मारा गया हमलावर स्थानीय निवासी था।
●   उसकी पहचान 64 वर्षीय स्टीफन पैडॉक के रूप में हुई है।
●   राष्ट्रपति डॉनल्ड ट्रंप ने ट्वीट कर पीड़ितों के प्रति संवेदना जाहिर की है।

कनाडा के प्रधानमंत्री जस्टिन ट्रूडो को एक नया राजनीतिक प्रतिद्वंद्वी मिला है।
●   ट्रूडो को टक्कर देने वाला यह शख्स 38 साल का सिख और पेशे से क्रिमिनल लॉयर है।
●   जगमीत सिंह को सोमवार को कनाडा की न्यू डेमोक्रैटिक पार्टी का नेता चुन लिया गया है।
●   इसी के साथ जगमीत सिंह कनाडा के इतिहास में पहली बार देश की किसी बड़ी राजनीतिक पार्टी का नेतृत्व करने वाले पहले अश्वेत नेता बन गए हैं।
●   ऑन्टेरियो प्रांत के सांसद सिंह को वर्ष 2019 के चुनाव में प्रधानमंत्री जस्टिन ट्रूडो की लिबरल पार्टी के खिलाफ पार्टी का नेतृत्व करने के लिए प्रथम मतदान के आधार पार्टी का नेता चुना गया है।

●   फिलहाल उनके सामने उस न्यू डेमोक्रैटिक पार्टी को फिर से खड़ा करने की गंभीर चुनौती है, जो वर्ष 2015 के चुनाव में 59 सीटों पर हार गई थी।
●   यह पार्टी कनाडा की संसद में तीसरे स्थान पर है।
