West Bengal SET 2017– As per the latest announcement by West Bengal College Service Commission, the West Bengal State Eligibility Test (WB SET) 2017 examination is scheduled on 3rd December. WBCSC is conducting the state eligibility test to recruit candidates for appointment as Assistant Professor in institutions and universities of the state. The recruitment process is held as per the guidelines of UGC. The West Bengal SET online application process 2017 has started from 1st August 2017 and is open till 31st August 2017.

West Bengal SET 2017 Exam- An overview of exam pattern

West Bengal SET exam will be conducted for all total of 30 subjects and will be conducted at multiple centres in 20 cities. Among all 20 centres, the candidates can choose their preferences. Once the candidates have chosen the centres, they will not be allowed to change their preferences. Before 2 weeks of commencement of the exam, candidates will receive their WB SET admit cards.

The test will consist of 3 objective papers- Paper 1, Paper 2 and Paper 3. The Paper 1 will have 60 questions, out of which the candidates will have to answer only 50 questions. Paper 1 will be of general nature to test reasoning ability and general awareness of the candidate. Paper 2 and 3 will have 50 and 75 questions which will be based on the subject chosen by candidates. You can find the WB TET syllabus 2017 uploaded on the official web portal by the commission.

The three papers of West Bengal SET 2017 exam will all be conducted on a single day. Paper 1 will be conducted from 9.30 am to 10.45 am, Paper 2 from 11.15 am to 12.30 pm & Paper 3 will be conducted from 2 pm to 4.30 pm. Each question will carry 2 marks and there will be no negative marking in the test.

For the candidates of general category, the minimum qualifying marks is 40% and for the reserved category, it is 35%. As per the new guidelines of University Grants Commission (UGC), top 6% appearing applicants in all 3 papers will be declared qualified for the post of Assistant Professor.

The interested applicants are recommended to appear in their post graduation’s subject only. The applicants who want to appear for subjects other than the provided 30 subjects can appear in Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR-NET).

WB SET Application Form 2017

The applications for WB SET 2017 will be accepted by online mode only.

The WB SET application process commenced on 1st August and will close on 31st August. The application fee structure for different categories are as follows-

Reserved Category (SC, ST, OBC and PWD) 500 INR

The application fee can be paid via online mode or by e-challan generated during the submission of application form. In the case of e-challan, the applicants shall make payment at any branch office of the United Bank of India.

West Bengal SET 2017 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for WB SET 2017 is as follows-

The applicants from general category must have 55% score (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent degree in the appropriate subject from universities/ institutions recognized by UGC. 50 percent is the minimum percentage requirement for reserved category candidates. The applicants who are in final semester or year with their results still awaited can also apply. Furthermore, the Ph.D. degree applicants whom P.G. has been completed by 19th Sept 1991 will be given a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks for appearing in SET.
