UPSC IAS 2017 General Studies Paper 1 Preparation tips

UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) conducts preliminary examination for civil services. The exam is conducted on a single day but conducted in two different papers. Both the papers consist of multiple choice questions and should be answered on an OMR sheet.

UPSC IAS General Studies Paper I

It is general knowledge paper to be answered on the OMR sheet. The questions are objective type and a time of 2 hours is given to answer this paper. The paper is set for 200 marks and consists of current affairs, general knowledge, Indian History and politics along with General Science

UPSC IAS GS Paper 1 – Tips and Tricks

Revision: Current affairs, economics, geography, history, general science and the list go on. As an aspiring candidate, you should revise from the basic level. Check the syllabus for Paper 1 and revise all the subjects. You should not stick to one single book. It is the best practice to go through NCERT books and previous year question papers if you are running out of time. Mug up the areas which do not change like current affairs. For current affairs, preparation should be based on latest schemed and bills issued by the government.

Take Govt. Exams online tests

Mock Exams: In order to increase your chances of scoring well in the prelims, you should take a lot of mock tests. They are an important routine in your regular studies. This helps you identify the mistakes as well as improve your confidence level. Being confident is the key to success in the preliminary examination.

Buy the right material/books: You should know what books you should buy before investing on them. Check out what is recommended by previous year toppers and experts. A book should cover every topic from the basic level. NCERT books are a must for this. When you invest on a book it should be able to cover the entire syllabus of UPSC exam and not just paper 1
