UPSC Civil Services (IAS) Prelims 2017 Exam date and Shift timing

One of the most prestigious exams in India is the IAS exams also known as the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) Civil Services Examination(CSE). It is conducted in two stages namely the preliminary and main exam. A candidate who clears preliminary and main exams can attend the interview and based on the interview the candidate will be posted for training.

UPSC IAS Exam date and Shift Timing 2017:

The UPSC CSE (IAS) Prelims 2017 exam is scheduled to be held on 18th June 2017. There will be two papers to be answered. It is going to be for only one day. The morning session will be for the first paper and the afternoon session is for the second paper.

Paper I – It is general knowledge paper to be answered on the OMR sheet. The questions are objective type and a time of 2 hours is given to answer this paper. The paper is set for 200 marks and consists of current affairs, general knowledge, Indian History and politics along with General Science

Paper II – This is the aptitude test paper which is also to be answered on the OMR sheet. It is multiple choices type paper to be answered for 200 marks in 2 hours. The questions consist of interpersonal skills, logical reasoning, vocabulary and other areas to test the candidate’s personality and language. This is mainly for the purpose of testing the candidate’s communication skills.

Both the papers are objective type and should be cleared by the candidate in order to write the Mains exam. However, in paper II 33% is the minimum marks to be scored. A candidate should be aware of the schedule and should maintain the time given to answer properly and completely. It is mandatory for the aspiring candidate to write both the papers. Absenting themselves for any one paper will disqualify the candidate from the UPSC CSE.
