The Staff selection commission conducted the Combined higher secondary examination, 2016 from 7th January 2017 t 8th February 2017 in Computer based mode for recruitment of postal assistants/Sorting assistants, data entry operators, lower divisional clerks and court clerks at different centers across the country. More than 30 lakh candidates appeared for the SSC examinations over a period of 1 month.

A total of 53,201 candidates have been selected for Tier II examination. 10,607 OBC, 1,215 SC and 208 ST candidates are provisionally qualifying at cut-off fixed for UR candidates subject to fulfilling other criteria for UR category. The schedule for Descriptive Paper (Tier-II) of CHSLE 2016 will be soon available on the concerned Regional Office’s website shortly.

Importance of SSC CHSL 2017:

  1. SSC CHSL Tier I Results: It will display roll number of candidates who are qualified for Tier II examination
  2. SSC CHSL Tier II Results: Those who qualify in Tier II of the examination will be called for Skill Test.
  3. SSC CHSL Skill Test Results: Those who qualify in the SSC CHSL skill test will be recruited.


A total of 53,201 candidates have been selected for Tier II of the exam.

Things to Know SSC CHSL Tier II exam:

Tier-II Paper of CHSL will be a descriptive Paper of 100 Marks in ‘Pen and Paper Mode. The duration of the paper would be for one hour along with a compensatory time of 20 minutes. The purpose of the paper is to assess the writing skills of the candidate appearing for the exam. Government jobs often require good writing skills and the exam evaluates that.

This paper has been introduced to assess the writing skills of the candidates which is necessary in Government jobs. The Paper would comprise writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter / Application writing of approximately 150-200 words. The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-II would be 33 per cent. The performance in Tier II would be included for preparing merit. The paper will have to be written either in Hindi or in English. Part paper written in Hindi and Part in English will not be evaluated.
