SSC CHSL Syllabus 2018
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) had issued a notification for the Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) CHSL Exam.The application form for SSC CHSL was available from 8th November 2017. The last date for registration is 18th December 2017. Also, the Tier I exam is scheduled to be held from 4th March to 20th March 2018. The SSC CHSL exam will be held to recruit aspirants for various posts of Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant, LDC/ JSA, and DEO respectively. According to data, 30 lakh candidates appeared for SSC CHSL exam last year out of which only 53,201 candidates selected for Tier 2 (less than 2 percent). SSC CHSL Syllabus for Tier 2
The Tier 2 exam is of descriptive nature. Here, you have to write an essay and letter/application in pen and paper mode. The essay topics include National Interest, Finance & Economy, Ecological Issues, Politics, Social Issues, Schemes & Governance, Sports, Technology, Geopolitics, Environmental Concerns, etc. Whereas the letter/application type may be Application, Complaint, Suggestion, Official Appreciation, Follow up or Feedback, etc.
Also, you have to score a minimum of 33% marks to qualify Tier 2 exam.

SSC CHSL Syllabus for Tier 3
Tier 3 is a Skill/Typing test. Furthermore, this exam is meant only for the post of Data Entry Operator. Moreover, you should have the data entry speed of 8000 key depressions per hour. The speed of 8000 key depression per hour will be judged based on your correct entry of the words given in the passage.
SSC CHSL Exam Pattern

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern – Tier 1
You have to give the exam in online mode. And the exam is of objective nature.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern – Tier 2
You have to secure minimum 33% marks to qualify this exam. Marks from this test will be added for preparing the final merit list. So, you need to prepare for this exam very well.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern – Tier 3
This is a Skill/Typing test. For skill test, you should have a typing speed of 8000 key depressions per hour. They will provide you a printed sheet. And you have to type that in the computer within 15 minutes. The total number of words in the sheet will be around 2000 – 2200.
For typing test, if you choose English, your typing speed should be 35 words per minute. And for Hindi, typing speed should be 30 words per minute. Total time is 10 minutes. They will judge you on the basis of accuracy as well as speed.
Please note that there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong attempt. Also, there is no sectional cut off.
Important Note for the students
- Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, OBC, ExS and PH candidates would be called for the Skill Test by the Commission by applying relaxed standards if the Commission forms the opinion that sufficient number of candidates of these categories are not likely to be available for the skill test on the basis of qualifying criteria for general category candidates in order to fill up the vacancies reserved for these categories (i.e. SC, ST, PH, ExS and OBC).
- None of the candidates (including PH candidates) who qualify in the written part of the examination will be exempted from the Skill Test.
The skill test for all the aspirants will be held at the Commission’s Regional Offices or at any other centers as decided by the Commission.
