Eligibility Criteria: Selection procedure and criteria for IIM Ahmedabad

Candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognized university or educational institute recognized by UGC. Candidates belonging to SC/ST or PWD should have a minimum of 45% marks. Candidates who have appeared for final year of Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent can also apply. Candidates awaiting results can also apply . Candidates should note that mere fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria does not ensure consideration for a seat in the IIM’s.

If the candidate dreams of getting into top management institutes like the IIMs, remember, it is not an easy task. There are certain rigid processes they need to follow. IIM lays a lot of emphasis on the IIM CAT 2017 scores and can also use the previous academic performance of the candidates, work experience and other factors while considering a candidate during the selection process.

  1. Registration For CAT 2017: Candidates need to register for IIM during the given window for registration.

  2. Common Admission Test: CAT 2017, the Common Admission Test for admission into the Indian institute of management will be conducted by IIM Lucknow on the 26th November 2017 in two sessions in more than 140 cities across India.
  3. Declaring CAT Results: The results will be declared in the second week of January 2018. These shortlisted candidates would then be asked to take up a Written Ability Test [WAT] or Group Discussion and Personal Interview session. IIMs and B-schools would then put up the list of shortlisted aspirants on their websites respectively. The short listing process would differ from one IIM campus to another.
  4. Group Discussion & Written Ability Test: The group Discussion or Written ability Test are given to test the oratory skills and English writing skills of the candidates. It also tests how opinionated the candidate is in order to be eligible to get a seat in IIM Ahmadabad.
  5. Personal Interview: As the Group Discussion and Written Ability Tests are completed, the final round in the CAT Selection Procedures is the Personal Interview. The interview of the candidate is conducted by some ex-IIM alumni and other experts from the field of management. The Personal interview can also be conducted by professors and other influential people. Remember that getting into IIMs gives you a chance to hobnob with biggies if you match to their heights.

6.Regarding percentile: Candidates will be alloted seats in IIM institutes based on rank and merit and also on the basis of reservations. The minimum eligibility percentiles has been reduced by 10 percentile points ( both overall and sectional ).
