SBI PO Exam Pattern 2019:- State Bank of India, SBI conducts examination for the recruitment of Bank Probationary Officer (PO) posts.  Knowing Exam Pattern will make the preparation of SBI PO easier as it will mark a well-paved way for you.

  • SBI conducts the Probationary Officer (PO) exam in three stages; Preliminary, Mains, and Group Exercises & Interview.

SBI Probationary Officer (PO) exam will consist of 3 stages and one must know the examination pattern for each stage of SBI PO. To make things more clear for you, let’s start by looking at the various stages of SBI PO exam. Three stages for SBI PO are mentioned below;

Phase I (Preliminary exam)– SBI PO Exam Pattern 2019

Phase I or Preliminary examination is the very first stage of SBI Selection Process. This will be an objective type of test. Candidates who will clear preliminary exam will be eligible to write SBI PO mains examination.
Now, let’s look at the exam pattern for SBI PO Prelims to understand the pattern well;

  • The first stage of SBI PO will consist of 3 sections; English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability.
  • The preliminary exam for SBI PO will last for 1 Hr (60 Minutes).
  • There will be a total of 100 questions for 100 marks.
  • As per the latest pattern, there is no sectional Cut Off in SBI PO Prelims exam. That means you will not have to score minimum marks in each section to get selected for the SBI PO Mains/ Phase II exam.
  • Each correct answer will fetch you 1 mark and every wrong answer has negative marking scheme of 0.25 marks.

The candidates who clear sectional cutoff and overall cut off can take the SBI PO mains exam 2019. The main examination will consist of objective tests for 200 marks and descriptive tests for 50 marks for descriptive test. Candidates will have to take an online test and descriptive paper as a part of the SBI PO Recruitment process.

Objective Test

Candidates who clear the Preliminary exam will be eligible to write SBI PO Mains examination. The objective test is the first stage of the Mains examination process for SBI PO. To understand its pattern more clearly, let’s look at the Structure of the Objective test for SBI PO Mains.

Descriptive Section – SBI PO Exam Pattern 2019

As a part of the SBI PO Mains exam, candidates will also need to appear for Descriptive test. This stage of the selection process is to check the writing skills of the candidates. Now, let’s look at few of the important details about SBI PO Mains Descriptive Section;

  • There are an objective type questionnaire and a descriptive format.
  • The descriptive test pattern is for a duration of 30 minutes and for 50 marks.
  • The test will include letter writing an essay in the English language.
  • The test is to screen the writing skills of the candidates.

Phase III (Group Exercises and Personal Interview) – SBI PO Exam Pattern 2019

Candidates who clear the cutoff score for the mains exam will be called for the group Exercise and personal interview test where candidates will be interviewed by the interview board. The Group exercise will carry 30 marks, while the interview will carry 20 marks.
