Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is an organization under Government of India. The main aim of Railway Recruitment Board is to recruit candidates for various posts released by Indian Railways. Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts entrance exam under Non Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) for the recruitment of various posts like Commercial Apprentice (CA), Traffic Apprentice (TA), Goods Guard, Traffic Assistant, Line-Man, Gang-man, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist, Assistant Station Master, Senior Time Keeper etc.Senior Time Keeperis one of the most preferred and top positions in the Indian Railways. According to the RRB Notification 2017, this year there are only 4 vacancies for the post of Senior Time Keeper in the Indian Railways. Duty of a Senior Time Keeper is to control the entire network of railways like arrivals, departures, delays, speed etc.A Senior Time Keeper comes under the 7th pay commission and is henceforth entitled to all the benefits under the central government employment norms.

All candidates, who aspire to apply for the RRB NTPC Exam 2017, should have graduation from any recognized instituteand typing proficiency in English/Hindi. Candidates in the age group 18-32 are only eligible for RRB NTPC examination 2017. Age relaxations are also given to reserved categories and physically handicapped. There is a 45-day mandatory training period after the selection process which every selected candidate has to attend. Candidates can apply for the examination through RRB Online Application form and can become a part of Indian Railway’s workforce.

RRB NTPC Exam Pattern 2017

There are 3 rounds for the selection process- Online Examination, Typing Test and Document Verification. All the candidates who qualify for exam will need to appear for typing test. RRB NTPC Exam 2017 is an objective type exam consisting of a total of 100 objective questions, which need to be solved in duration of 90 minutes. There will be negative marking for wrong answers. 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. The exam pattern is given below

RRB NTPC 2017 Syllabus

The syllabus for RRB NTPC 2017exam will include the following subjects:

  • General Awareness
  • Arithmetic
  • General Science
  • Reasoning

General Awareness: This section includes the knowledge about current affairs(both National and International) and various events happening all across the world, Important Days and Dates, Who is Who, National and International Sports, Books and Authors, Science – Inventions and Discoveries, Budget and Plans for the upcoming 5 years, Awards and Honors, Abbreviations, Major Financial/Economic News., Indian Economy, Indian History, Indian Geography, Indian Railways (Facts & Figures, Background, History), Indian Politics, Indian Culture & Heritage.The applicants should go through newspaper everyday day and should be aware of the latest happenings across the world in the last few years.

Arithmetic Ability: This portion consists of mathematical and quantitative skills which covers the mathematical topics consisting of Number System, Data Interpretation (Bar Graphs, Pie Charts, Line Graphs, tables etc.),Decimal Fractions, Percentage, Ratio and Proportions, Profit and Loss, Simple and Compound Interest, Time and Work, Unitary Method, Time and Distance, Mensuration (2D and 3D), HCF, LCM, Algebra, Simplification, Average, Speed Calculation, Linear/ Quadratic Equations, Simplification, Averages, Problems on Age, Margins and Discounts, Area & Volume .The applicants are required to be thorough with the fundamentals of mathematics upto class 10th.

General Science: This section will cover topics like biology, physics, Chemistry and Environmental studies.

 

Reasoning Ability: This section can be further divided into different topics

  • Verbal Reasoning:Number Series, Test of Direction Sense, Number Ranking, Age Calculation Problems, Alphabet Series, Blood Relations, Coding-Decoding, Arithmetical Reasoning, Decision Making, Analogy
  • Non-Verbal Reasoning:Mirror Images, Non-Verbal Series, Embedded Figures, Grouping Identical Figures, Cubes and Dice

RRB NTPC CBT (Computer-based Test) 2017

Candidates who succeed in the RRB NTPC written examination will have to appear for the Computer-based Test (CBT) which will test, candidates’ proficiency in computer. Candidates applying for the posts of Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist (JAA), Senior Clerk cum Typist (SCT) and Time Keeper (TK) must have proficiency in Hindi and English Typing.
