  • Ministry of Railways has given additional relaxation in Upper Age Limit for all categories by 2 years. All categories have increased age limit by 2 years.
  • Online Applications are invited around 90,000 posts in Group C and Group D Posts.
  • Group C Level I (Erstwhile Group D) include posts like Track maintainer, Pointsman, Helper, Gateman, Porter. Now Group C Level II categories include posts like Assistant Loco Pilots (ALP), Technicians (Fitter, Crane Driver, Blacksmith, Carpenter).
  • Also, there is an option to take the exam in regional languages like Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Odiya among other languages will also be available to the candidates.

Job Profile of ALP: A Assistant Loco Pilot assists the Loco Pilot in Driving or piloting the train. It requires continuous attention and a high degree of responsiveness. ALP has to assist the Driver by calling out the signal as soon as one is sighted, fine-tuning Loco, attending minor repairs of the Loco, etc. It requires a lot of attentiveness.

RRB ALP Salary Structure:

Pay Scale – Rs. 19,900/- (Level 2 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix) plus allowances as per norms

Besides the basic pay, you will also be entitled to various allowances as under:

  • Dearness Allowance in the Total pay
  • Running allowance based on the kilometers traveled
  • Transport Allowance
  • House Rent Allowance or HRA if no quarters is provided.
  • Deduction of 10% of the salary for Pension

Examination Paper Pattern for RRB ALP Technician Recruitment 2018:

RRB ALP 2018 Exam Pattern:

There shall be negative marking for incorrect answers in First and Second Stage CBT. 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question shall be deducted for each wrong answer. There shall be no negative marking for Computer Based Aptitude Test.

CBT (Common for ALP/Technician):

The score of the first stage exam shall be used only for shortlisting of candidates for the second stage exam as per their merit. Candidates who are shortlisted for Second Stage CBT availing the reservation benefits of a community shall continue to be considered only against that community for all subsequent stages of the recruitment process.

Second Stage CBT (Part A)

The total number of candidates to be shortlisted for the second stage shall be 15 times the community wise total posts of ALP and Technician Posts notified against the RRB as per their merit in First Stage CBT. However, Railways reserve the right to increase/decrease this limit in total or for any specific trade(s) as required to ensure the availability of adequate candidates for all the notified posts.

Salary for RRB ALP :

Computer-Based Aptitude Test (Only for candidates who have opted for ALP):

The candidate needs to secure a minimum score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify which hold true for all candidates. Candidates will have to qualify in each of the test battery of Computer Based AT for considering them for the post of ALP.

The Computer Based Aptitude Test shall have questions and answer options only in English and Hindi. There shall be no negative marking in Computer Based AT. The ALP merit list will be drawn only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the Aptitude Test, with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in Part A of Second Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in Computer Based AT.

RRB ALP Technician – How to Apply
Age limit for RRB ALP Technician Recruitment 2018: Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age and a maximum of 25 years of age. The detailed syllabus for RRB ALP and Technician can be checked here.

The RRB ALP Technician Application Form 2018 will be mostly online and will not be processed offline. Candidates who want to apply for the post will be able to fill RRB ALP through online mode only and there is no offline mode. RRB ALP Technician Application Form 2018 will be released on 15th November. Candidates who want to apply for the post will be able to fill the RRB.
