Railway Exam Fee will be refunded – Railway Minister, Piyush Goyal

Indian Railway Minister, Mr. Piyush Goyal, has announced Railway Exam Fee Refund for every applicant that appears in the exam. Actually, if you see the bigger picture, the exam fee remains the same as previous years. We’ll explain it to you here. Previously, general category candidates had to pay Rs.100 as exam fee while the exempted students had to pay zero. This year, the fee was hiked to Rs.500 for general category candidates and Rs.250 for the reserved categories. All the reserved category candidates who appear for the exam will get a full fee refund of Rs.250. And all the general category candidates who appear for the exam will get a majority of the refund back – Rs.400, precisely. In essence, the fee remains the same.

Fee Hike…but why?

The steep increase in Railway exam fee had caused stress to many applicants. However, Piyush Goyal explained very clearly why this fee hike was done. He said that he wants only the serious candidates to appear in the exam. Also, he said that many candidates apply for the posts and do not appear in the exam. The money Government spends on the exam process gets wasted due to this. In an attempt to eliminate this problem, the fee was hiked. But, if you appear for the exam, you will get the refund, anyway.
