National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) organises Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)  annually to provide admission to aspirants in hospitality and hotel administration programmes. NCHMCT, established in 1984 is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

NCHMCT JEE 2018 scores are used for provide admission in 21 central institutes of hotel management, 19 state government institutes of hotel management and 14 private institutes of hotel management in India.  The entrance exam is expected to be conducted in April. Last year the exam was held on 29th April 2017.

An Overview of NCHMCT :

The council was initially set up as the National Board of Studies in Food Management, Catering & Nutrition under the administrative control of Ministry of Agriculture (Department of Food) and subsequently transferred to the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India in the year 1984. The name was changes as National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology. Currently, the office of the Council is situated at Noida (U.P.) with its own building, while the registered office is at Pusa, New Delhi.The Council regulates academics activities in the field of Hospitality Education & Training that is imparted through Twenty One (21) Central Govt. sponsored Institutes of Hotel Management, Twenty One (21) State Government sponsored institutes, fifteen (15) Pvt. institutes and Seven (7) Food Craft Institutes, that function in different parts of the country.Through the Council, these institutes offer Ten (10) different professional programs leading to award of Certificate, Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma, Bachelor and Master Degree. The BSc. And MSc. programmes are offered in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Open University – IGNOU.

NCHMCT JEE Selection Procedure 2018

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the NCHMCT JEE test. A merit list will be prepared based on the cut off scores and those who obtain marks above the cut off score will be considered for counselling round.

How to Apply – Steps for filling NCHMCT Application Form

  • Visit the official website of NCHMCT –
  • Login and click on Apply online.
  • Fill all the necessary details.
  • Pay the application fees.
  • Click on submit button once you have filled all details.
  • Auto generated application number will appear on the screen.
  • Note it down for future reference.
  • Take a print out of the application form.
  • Upload your latest passport sized photograph and scanned signature.

Exam Pattern of NCHMCT JEE 2018

  • NCHM JEE 2018 will be conducted for three hours or 180 minutes.
  • Question paper of NCHMCT JEE 2018 will be available in both Hindi and English.
  • The exam will be Objective Type.

Marking scheme

One mark will be rewarded for each correct response and 0.25 marks will be deducted for any wrong answer.

NCHMCT JEE  Syllabus for Numerical Ability/ Mathematics

All chapters across Arithmetic, Algebra and Modern Mathematics that includes profit and loss, geometry, ratio and proportion, partnerships, averages, time speed and distance, geometry, mensuration and trigonometry, logarithms, probability, time and work, pipes and cisterns, variation, clocks and calendar, simple and compound interest, number theory etc.

This is more like decision making where you have to choose the most appropriate answer among the given appropriate answers. There are different marks for different answer options marked. You get +1M for marking the most appropriate answer, +0.75M for marking the next appropriate, the next appropriate carries +0.5M and -0.25M for marking the one which is not appropriate.
