RBI or the Reserve Bank of India has invited applications for the post of “Assistant”. There are vacancies for 623 posts across offices of RBI across India. Here we discuss about the Language Proficiency test

Simple Selection Process:

The RBI Assistant exam has a relatively simple selection process that consists of a Preliminary exam, mains exam and Language proficiency test.

The mains exam will be conducted bilingually in both English and Hindi. Candidates have to pass in each objective tests of the online examination. Candidates who qualify in the preliminary exam will appear for the mains examination. There will be negative marking for wrong answers in the objective tests in both the preliminary and mains exam. Candidates will lose 0.25 or 1/4th marks for every wrong answer.

Phase III- Language Proficiency Test (LPT) – The candidates who qualify in the mains exam will to undergo language proficiency test (LPT). The language proficiency test will be conducted in the Official / Local Language of the concerned state. The Language Proficiency will be qualifying in nature and candidates should be well versed with the local language failing which they will not be selected as RBI assistant 2017. Candidate not proficient in the Official/Local Language would be disqualified.

Unlike other competitive exams, where candidate having studied local language in Calss 10 or 12 is exempted from Language proficiency test. Here all candidates will have to write the language Proficiency test that is subjective in nature.

However, you need not worry as the test will be simple and easy. It is only to test the proficiency of the candidate in the language and if they are able to speak, read and write the language and able to carry on day to day chores in local language. The bank may conduct both oral and written test. An oral test may test your ability to speak the local language and be able to form your own sentences. The written test may contain Reading comprehension, grammar, letter writing and essay writing.The purpose of the test is to ensure that you are able to converse with local people and help them with their tasks.

It is essential to have working knowledge of local language, without which candidate will not considered for selection even if they have cleared both preliminary and mains examination.
