Indian Institute of Technology, Madras to conduct Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) 2017


The Joint Engineering Examination (JEE) Advanced 2017 will be conducted by Indian Institute of Technology – Madras. The dates for the main examination will soon be released.The JEE board at IIT Madras is in the process of finalising the events required for conducting the examination. Previous Year IIT – JEE exam was conducted by IIT Guwahati.

The JEE serves as a gateway to reputed institutes like IITs, NITs, IIITs and ISM Dhanbad.The organising institute will prepare the question paper, answer keys, announcement of results and handling the JEE portal.

The IITs have 10,500 seats. Out of these, 7.5 per cent seats are reserved for STs, 15 per cent for SCs, 27 per cent for OBCs and the remaining 50.5 per cent for general category students.

Nearly 12 lakh students had appeared for the IIT JEE Main exam in 2016.

In April this year, the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD Ministry) has informed that Class 12 marks will not be a factor for determining rankings in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for admissions to engineering undergraduate courses from the coming year.

 Changes in the pattern of IIT :

The HRD Ministry took a significant decision regarding JEE exams and decided that class 12 marks of the students will not be taken into account while admitting them to undergraduate courses of engineering. This rule will be applicable to all engineering aspirants from next year.

Total attempts:

A candidate is allowed to appear for JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in consecutive years. Therefore, candidates who appeared in JEE (Advanced) 2016 for the first time are also eligible.

  1. Cover the syllabi for class 11th and 12th.
  2. Study Regularly.
  3. Make a proper time table.
  4. Solve numerical problems.
  5. Join a reputed coaching institute and clear doubts. Subscribe for regular mock test series.
  6. Prepare topic wise notes.
