IBPS Specialist Officer Selection Process

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) will be organizing the Recruitment Process for the recruitment of Specialist Officers in various cadres like IT, Agriculture, Law, Marketing, HR, and Rashtrabhasha Adhikari, etc. in various Public Sector Banks. The pattern of IBPS SO Exam has been changed from this year. We have explained the new selection process of IBPS SO in this post, to help you all understand the recruitment procedure of a Specialist Officer. IBPS recruits specialist officers for various profiles annually and proper knowledge of the different stages of the selection process of IBPS SO Exam will help students plan their study schedules and prepare for this exam in a much efficient manner.

Changes Introduced in IBPS SO Selection Process 2017

IBPS SO Exam will be conducted in 3 different stages from this year.
1. Preliminary Exam
2. Mains Exam
3. Interview
The online exam of IBPS SO will be conducted in 2 stages as mentioned above, unlike a single stage exam conducted previously.

1. Preliminary Exam

Candidates who want to qualify, need to score the minimum cut-off marks in each section, which would be decided by IBPS.

2. Mains Exam

3. Interview

  • The interview for IBPS Specialist Officer Selection Process will be conducted by the participating organisations of Institute of Banking Personnel Selection and will be coordinated by the nodal banks in each state or Union territory, with the assistance of IBPS
  • The shortlisted candidates will be notified of the date, time and venue of the Interview through call letters, which would be made available on the official website
  • Interview of IBPS SO is conducted for a total of 100 marks
  • The qualifying marks (minimum) which is set in the IBPS SO Interview procedure will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates)
  • For the final selection, the weightage of Mains Exam marks and Interview will be 80:20 respectively. The combined final score of candidates shall be arrived at on the basis of total respective marks obtained by the candidates in the Online Main Examination of CWE-SPL-VII and Interview

4. Provisional Allotment

  • Candidates will be provisionally allotted to one of the participating organisations of IBPS, based on the available vacancies and merit-cum-preference basis
  • In case 2 or more candidates obtain the same score in the exam, the merit would be decided based on the date of birth of the candidate, i.e. the candidate higher in age would be placed above the junior candidate.

The decision of IBPS in the provisional allotment for a candidate would be final and binding upon the selected candidates. However, IBPS reserves the right to cancel and re-allot organisation-wise allocation depending upon any urgency or otherwise. Appointment offer is solely the decision of the Participating Organisations and shall be final and binding for IBPS Specialist Officer Selection Process. IBPS has no role here.
