Institute of Banking Personnel Selection conducts the IBPS PO Exam to recruit for the position of Probationary Officer & Management Trainee. IBPS PO Selection Process has 3 stages. Candidate has to clear all 3 Phases of the exam in order to be appointed as PO/MT.

  • This Exam has 3 Stages – Prelims, Mains, Interview.
  • IBPS is about to release the official Recruitment Notification 2019 in the month of August.

IBPS PO Selection Process

Candidates have to go through the these Steps to be eligible for the Provisional Allotment.

  1. IBPS PO Preliminary Exam – This is a Qualifying Exam. The marks scored in the prelims exam is not considered in the final selection.
  2. IBPS Mains Exam – The Marks scored in Mains are considered in final selection.
  3. Face to Face Interview-  Interview is the final step in the IBPS Bank PO Selection Process.

IBPS PO Selection Process: Prelims Exam

Key points to remember for the preliminary exam-

  1. Preliminary Exam is conducted online.
  2. This is the 1st Stage in the IBPS Exam Selection Process & it is Qualifying in nature.
  3. The Prelims exam will be conducted on 12, 13, 19 & 20th October 2019. Know all important IBPS PO Exam Dates to be prepared for events in advance.
  4. Prelim tests candidates in English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Logical Reasoning.
  5. The exam is conducted in 1 Hour and has 100 questions.
  6. Maximum marks in the Preliminary exam is 100.
  7. Negative Marking is applicable in this stage. For each incorrect answer, there is a markdown of 0.25 marks.

IBPS PO Selection Process: Mains Exam

Important takeaway in the IBPS Bank PO Mains Exam-

  1. The Mains Exam is also conducted Online.
  2. Marks achieved in the Main exam is considered in the final calculation.
  3. The IBPS Main Exam will be conducted on 30th November 2019.
  4. Candidates are tested on English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge.
  5. IBPS has recently introduced the “Descriptive Test for English Language” which tests candidates on their Essay & Letter Writing skills.
  6. The Test is conducted for 3 Hours & 30 Minutes & the maximum number of marks is 225.
  7. Negative Marking is applicable in this stage. For each incorrect answer, there is a markdown of 0.25 marks.
  8. Candidates are also expected to clear sectional & overall cut off in the Main examination.

IBPS PO Interview

Candidates who clear the Mains Exam are called for a face to face interview session with Banking officials. IBPS conducts the interview to tese candidates on their presentation, knowledge about Banking, Current Affairs & more.

  1. The Interview session generally lasts for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Candidate is graded out of 100 marks.
  3. Qualifying marks for the IBPS Bank PO Interview is 40% ( General Candidate)
  4. Qualifying Marks  for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates is 35%.

IBPS PO: Final Selection 2019

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection shortlists candidates for Final Selection on the following basis-

  • Score achieved in Mains Exam + score achieved in the Interview round.
  • Weightage of both Mains & Interview in the final calculation is based on ratio of 80:20.
  • The Mains Exam has an 80% weightage whereas the Interview has 20% weightage.
  • After the completion of IBPS PO Selection Process eligible candidates are given Provisional allotment.

IBPS PO 2019 Provisional Allotment

The Provisional allotment is done on merit basis. Candidates failing to meet the Bank’s criteria can no longer be the part of selection procedure.

  • A reserve list is created to the extent of 10% vacancies under each category which depends on the availability of candidates.
  • The Reserve list expires on 31st March 2020 & post that student’s candidature will not be accepted.
  • The provisionally allotted candidates could be posted anywhere in India as per the requirements of the participating banks.
  • If two or more candidates obtain same score then the older candidate is selected.

IBPS PO Interview: Required Documents

Candidates need to carry the original & self attested photocopies of the following documents-

  1. The Interview Call Letter
  2. Certificate of Experience
  3. Birth Certificate
  4. Copy of the Application Form.
  5. Photo Identity Proof (Aadhaar Card, Driving License, passport, etc.)
  6. Mark Sheets &  Certificates of previous qualifications (Result must declared on or before August 13, 2019)
  7. Candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC or any other category eligible for Age relaxation as per the government of india need to produce the relevant proof document to the interview.
