  • The IBPS PO Mains Exam will be conducted in 2 parts – Objective Test and Descriptive Test.

  • The Objective test consists of following sections – Reasoning and Computer Knowledge, English Language, Data Analysis and Interpretation, General Economy and Banking Knowledge. In the Descriptive test, candidate will be judged on letter writing and essay.

  • There is a penalty of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer

  • Reasoning and Computer Aptitude are clubbed together as one section, so there will be no separate paper for Computer Aptitude

  • The composite time allotted for IBPS PO 2017 Mains Exam is 180 minutes.

Banking Awareness Section

General Awareness section of the IBPS PO Mains is one of the easiest sections in the exam. Candidate should cover current affairs, banking and static news of last 6 months preferably. This section is all fact based, so it can be scoring if one is prepared well. This section is less time consuming but requires both accuracy and precision to crack. This section deals with general awareness but with a special inclination towards the banking sector. In the mains exam, banking awareness consists of 40 questions and 40 marks.   • Regulatory Bodies like: Role, function and details of RBI, (History/ Roles/ Functions) PFRDA, FSDC, SEBI, IRDA, FMC etc.

  • Monetary & Credit Policies: Re-Repo/Bank Rate/CRR/ SLR/ Repo etc.

  • Capital Market & Money Market: Concept, Types of instruments they deal in like Call/Notice Money, certificate of deposit, commercial papers or Capital, Treasury Bills and Term Money.

  • Market Instruments: Equity Shares, preference shares, Debentures, Stock Exchanges in India and world.

  • Government Schemes: Bharat Nirman, Swabhiman,Swavlamban etc. All schemes discussed in budget, important facts, budgetary allocation etc.
