Committee and its motive:

  • HBSE formed a committee with Rohtak based Vedic Maths author Rakesh Bhatia and subject expert andRSS member Narenderjet Rawal of Bhiwani. The committee have framed the syllabus for class 9th and also been developing the plans to introduce the same in approximately 100 schools for upcoming academic sessions.
  • The step taken by the state government to bring back the Indian educational harmony in its system is really appreciable. In a time, where the whole world is running blindly to be modernised, the government of Haryana is keen to acknowledge the vitality of the Indian ancient Education.
  • The further decision on this will be taken after evaluation of the experiment and also keeping in mind the availability of subject teachers in the state. It was Banaras Hindu University (BHU) which started the subject though it took these over 50 years that it got wide acceptance world over.
  • An international conference on Vedic maths last week at Saint Stephen College, Delhi. Many research papers demonstrated values of the ancient discipline need be introduced at school and college level as it is of much advance value.
  • Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur (Rewari), introduced the subject recently in MSc third semester. Some other varsities including Chaudhary Bansi Lal University, Bhiwani; Bhagat Phool Singh University, Sonepat and YMCA University, Faridabad, are also contemplating to start certificate courses on the subject.

The methods are not merely mathematical tricks and that there is an underlying psychology because the aphorisms describe personal approaches to problem-solving. As pedagogic tools, the methods are useful because they invite students to deal with strategies.

The idea of Vedic education in today’s erra is not to prove any point rather to make people aware of proven ancient mathematics, which have already given the basis for all mathematical approaches in the form of Zero.

Today with the immense pace of modernisation, we shouldn’t forget the valuables our forefather have discovered for us. Well, the motivation is to preserve our ancestor’s wisdom with an ambition to nurture the best out of it. These little steps by the government to unify the Indian brilliance we had over the past thousands of year makes me believe that our system is definitely running on the right way.
