GATE 2018 started on February 3 & 4, for 8 papers while the remainig 15 papers are being held on February 10 and 11. Through the analysis, candidates will also get to know what marks/scores they need to secure for admissions.
GATE EE Paper Analysis 2018 – 10th Feb
The overall GATE EE question paper was easy compared to last year.
- Most of the 1 mark questions are easy and based on formula applications.
- Some of the 1 marks questions are tricky and conceptual.
- Few of the 2 marks questions are little tricky, if you know the concept you can directly answer the question.
- Some of the 2 marks questions are lengthy and time taking.
- Around 40 % questions are numerical type.
General Aptitude :
There are 10 questions in the section. 5 one mark questions and 5 two marks questions. This section is very easy and you can solve all the questions in very less time. One can easily score 10 – 12 marks. This section was scoring and deciding factor.
Usually 4 questions are asked from English and 6 from quant in GATE EE Exam. But this year, 8 questions came from aptitude. Also, 1 question from DI and 1 question from critical reasoning used to asked every year in GATE Exam, but this year they didn’t ask any from these topics.
Technical Section :
There are around 12 questions asked from Mathematics. This year maths questions asked are more as well easy as compared to last year. The overall GATE EE 2018 paper was easy compared to previous year.
