ESIC Exam Pattern & Selection Process 2018 – ESIC recruitment is released to fill 539 Vacancies for the post of Social Security Officer, Manager Gr-II & Superintendent.Earlier, the notification was released in 2014 and candidates who had applied for the recruitment advertise need to apply afresh. We hereby all interested candidates (even those who applied earlier in 2014), to take a look at the notice and apply for the recruitment. The last date to fill the online application is 5th October 2018.

ESIC Selection Procedure

Candidates will have to go through 3 stages before their selection in ESIC:

  • 1st Phase: Preliminary Examination (100 marks)
  • 2nd Phase: Mains Examination (200 marks)
  • 3rd Phase: Computer skills and Descriptive Test (50 marks)

ESIC Exam Pattern

Phase I – Preliminary Examination

  • Phase I is qualifying in nature and ESIC will not reckon marks for final merit.
  • For each wrong answer, there will be a negative marking of one fourth of the mark assigned to that question.
  • The candidates will be shortlisted for Phase-II in the ratio of 1:10 i.e. about 10 times the number of  vacancies in each category on the basis of their performance in Phase – I.
  • If the examination is held in more than one session, the scores across various sessions will be equated following standard practice to adjust for slight differences in difficulty level of different test batteries used across sessions

Phase II – Mains Examination

  • The marks obtained in Phase – II will be considered for final selection.
  • For each wrong answer, there will be a negative marking of one fourth of the mark assigned to that question.
  • Moreover, The candidates will be shortlisted for Phase-III in the ratio of 1:5 i.e. about 5 times the number of vacancies in each category on the basis of their performance in Phase – II.

Phase III – Computer Skills & Descriptive Test

(a) Computer Skills Test – 50 Marks (30 minutes duration) comprises of the following 3 parts:

  1. Preparation of 3 Power point Slides – 10 Marks.
  2. Typing Matter on MS Word with Formatting – 20 Marks.
  3. Preparing tables on MS Excel using formulas – 20 Marks.

(b) Descriptive Type Test – English Language Test (Letter & Essay Writing)

  1. No. of Questions – 2.
  2. Max. Marks – 50 Marks.
  3. Duration 30 Minutes.
  • The working knowledge of PWD Candidates who are unable to type shall be assessed by holding an Objective Type Computer Test of 50 Marks having 50 Questions with no negative marking.
  • Computer Skill Test and Descriptive paper will be qualifying in nature. Marks obtained will not be reckoned for merit ranking.

Qualifying Marks

Qualifying Marks in Phase-I (Preliminary Exam.), Phase – II (Main Exam.) and Phase – III Computer Skill Test/Objective Type Computer Test for PwDs & Descriptive Paper will be decided at the discretion of ESIC. Moreover, ESIC reserves all the rights to make any changes in the merit list as it sees fit.
