ECIL Exam Analysis 2018 – 21st January 2018

ECIL Exam Analysis 2018 is done after the examination was conducted on 21st January 2018. The time duration of the Examination was changed from 90 minutes to 120 minutes/2 Hrs. All the students were allowed to use the virtual calculator during the Examination eventhough it was not mentioned in the Admit Card. The ECIL Exam was conducted for Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Computer Science discipline. In this article, we will discuss in detail about the changes in the ECIL examination 2018 and the type of Questions asked for respective branches.

Changes in ECIL Exam:

Below are some of the changes that were seen during ECIL exam;

  • In the Official Exam Pattern, the Exam Duration was mentioned as 90 minutes, but during actual exam, the exam time provided was 120 minutes.
  • The students were allowed to use the virtual calculator during exams which was not mentioned in Admit Card.

ECIL Exam Analysis:

Electrical:

The ECIL Electrical exam was held from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Here is the ECIL EE Exam Analysis.

  • Examination was conductd from 12:30 to 2:30 PM.
  • The Duration for the examination was 2 hours.
  • There were a Total of 100 Questions.
  • Each question carries one mark and there is no negative marking.
  • Virtual calculator were provided
  • 80 to 85 percent of questions were numerical.
  • Questions were of easy and moderate level, but most of the questions were problematic and lengthy. Therefore, most of the students felt that the paper was lengthy & 2 hr of time duration was not enough to solve the paper.
  • The overall paper was difficult.
  • Some of the questions can match to GATE level.
  • But overall the questions were of just below the gate level from the Questions came from every subject.

Below is the subject wise weightage of Questions asked in Electrical stream:

  • Electrical Machines: 20-22 Qs
  • Power systems: 10-15 Qs
  • Network theory: 10-12 Qs
  • Power electronics: 3-5 Qs
  • Analog electronics: 3-5 Qs
  • Electronic devices: 4-6 Qs
  • Signals and systems: 4-6 Qs
  • Measurements and instruments: 3-5 Qs
  • Control systems: 4-6 Qs
  • Engineering Mathematics: 2-3 Qs
  • Digital Electronics: 6-8 Qs
  • Electromagnetic theory: 3-5 Qs

Mechanical:

The ECIL ME exam was held from 8:30 PM to 10:30 PM. Here is the ECIL ME Exam Analysis. 

  • Examination was conductd from 8:30 to 10:30 PM.
  • The Duration for the examination was 2 hours.
  • There were a Total of 100 Questions.
  • Each question carries one mark and there is no negative marking.
  • The ECIL Mechanical Paper was very difficult almost similar to GATE level.
  • Around 75-80 % of the paper was of numerical type questions, making the paper very difficult for 2 hours of duration.
  • Overall the weightage of the thermal and fluid mechanics was more.
  • The questions were asked on the topics are entropy, pressure measurement etc.

Electronics & Communications:

The ECIL EC exam was held from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Here is the ECIL EC Exam Analysis. 

  • Examination was conductd from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.
  • The Duration for the examination was 2 hours.
  • There were a Total of 100 Questions.
  • Each question carries one mark and there is no negative marking.
  • The ECIL Electronics & Communication Paper was very difficult almost similar to GATE level.

  • Network Theory: 9-10 Qs
  • Electronic Devices: 8-11 Qs
  • Analog Circuits: 8-10 Qs
  • Digital Electronics: 7-8 Qs
  • Microprocessors: 3-4 Qs
  • Em and Antenna Theory: 10-12 Qs
  • Microwave & Waveguide: 3-4 Qs
  • Communications: 5-6 Qs
  • Control Systems: 6-7 Qs
  • Signals & Systems: 4-5 Qs
