CLAT Application Form 2020 is going to be released on the official website on 1st January. The interested aspirants should be ready to fill up the application forms for intermediate graduates (LLB Course) or Graduates in LLB  (LLM Programs) as soon as the form releases on the official website. Also, the candidates will get to apply for admissions to 21 NLUs or other universities that are in participation.

CLAT Eligibility Criteria

For the UG Program, there’s no upper age limit and the lower age limit for SC, ST, OBC, SAP is 22 years and for NRI /NRI Sponsored Candidates it is 20 years and the candidate should be 12 pass or equivalent. For the PG Program, no upper age limit is given. The candidate should be a graduate

Pre-requisites to fill CLAT Application Form 2020

The students must check the following requirements which are mandatory for all the candidates who wish to fill the form. These things must be pre-ready at the time of filling the form. Nothing should be missed from the list as follows:

  • Academic Details (Percentage and marks in School/ Institute/ College)
  • Scanned copies of the Certificate of impairment for Specially Abled Persons (SAP) in JPEG/JPG/PDF format only, in case it is applicable
  • Adhaar Card/PAN Card/License/Passport (any other document which serves as an Identity Proof)
  • Domicile Certificate for those candidates who wish to be considered under State Quota
  • Personal Information (Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, Email ID, Parents’ Name, Parents’ Mobile Number, and Address, etc.)
  • Passport size Photograph (front-facing) and signature in the required dimensions
  • Scanned copies of caste certificate (for SC/ ST/ SAP candidates) only in PDF format
  • The course which an individual wishes to take (UG Course or PG Course) 
  • Address for Communication with PIN Code
  • Scanned copy of Domicile Category in PDF format only, in case it is applicable
  • Certificates who wish to have a claim for NRI/NRI sponsored candidate

General Instructions to fill CLAT Application Form

There are some important instructions that the candidates should follow regarding the CLAT Application filling

  • The applications have to be submitted online only from the official website-clatconsortiumofnlu.ac.in
  • The exam will be held in an offline mode
  • The students must fill their and their parents’ name accurately in the columns as they are mentioned in their mark sheets and identity proof documents
  • Anything different found can cause form-cancellation
  • Candidates must submit only one application form. If the authorities found more than 1 application form with similar phone number and e-mail, the form which is filled later will be considered
  • No alterations can be done after successfully submitting the form. The information regarding the candidates’ category, the preference for the NLUs, and Center for the Entrance Test submitted by the candidates cannot be altered after successful submission of the form
  • Candidates should read the
  •  general instructions carefully and provide correct and authentic information is a must
  • Candidates shall fill his/her preference order for all 21 NLUs at the time of online application itself. Any changes would not be allowed in the preference after form submission

How To Fill CLAT Online Form 2020?

The CLAT Application Form will be released in an online mode on January 1st, 2020. All the interested candidates should fill the application form within the allotted time and applications received after the deadline will not be accepted. there is a 4-5% of an enhancement in the number of CLAT Registrations for the LLB Program. On the other hand, there is observed a decrease of around 2% of the total number of registrations.

There are a number of steps that the candidates need to follow in order to fill the CLAT Application Form 2020.The steps are as follows-

Step 1: Online Registration

  • Visit the official website of CLAT -www.clatconsortiumofnlu.ac.in
  • Look for the link ‘Apply Online’ and click on it
  • A new page will be displayed on the screen
  • A tab option ‘New Registration’ on the top right comes up on the screen that you need to click on
  • You need to fill the details in the form eg. Name, Phone Number, E-mail ID, captcha code etc.
  •  Now you need to submit the details and a new registration number and password will be sent to your phone number and e-mail id

Step 2:Fill the details in the Application Form of CLAT

  • Log In to the Account with your Registered Mobile Number and Password
  • Fill all the details as asked in the form

The details that you will be asked are as follows-

1. Personal Details Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Mother’s Name, Nationality, All India Category, If NRI sponsored Category, If person with a disability(PWD), Scribe Requirement, If Below Poverty Line(BPL)
2. Communication Address for Correspondence, Permanent Address Nativity, State of Residence, State of Domicile PIN Code Mobile Number/Contact Number of the Applicant, Email Address of applicant
3. Educational Qualifications Exam Qualified, Board/University’s name, Month and Year of Passing, Percentage, Exam Status(appearing/Appeared/Passed)
 4.  If CLAT Question papers of Previous years required  Yes/No
 5.  Reservation Category  General/OBC/PWD/NRI/SC/ST/PIO/BPL/OCI
 6.  Exam Center Preference  Select any 3 cities from the list
 7.  NLU Preference  Mark NLU in order of your preference from most to least preferred

Step 3:Upload Documents

The candidates will have to upload the Photo and Signature, Domicile Certificate. Caste Certificate should be only submitted by the reserved category candidates

Instructions for Photo and Signature-

The guidelines to upload the photo and signature are mentioned below:

  • The photo and signature should have a white/light-colored background
  • The face of the individual must be clear and visible in the photo
  • The photo of the candidate must be recent
  • The image should be professional-looking
  • The signature must not be in several different designs or styles. If the signature is not in a similar pattern on all the official papers, then the officials will reject the application form right away
  • The signature of the individual should be in a flow of running hand and it must not be in block letters
  • Most importantly, the individuals should make sure that their scanned images are in JPEG Format

Now, after uploading the photo and signature successfully, proceed to fill other details which are required

Step 4: Fee Payment

Candidates can pay their CLAT Application Form Fee via Online or Offline mode. The Online mode includes Credit/Debit/Net Banking) whereas the offline mode is an e-challan mode. The Application Form fee varies from category to category. Access to previous years’ CLAT question paper in e-format – Aspirants will be given an option to download Previous year question papers. They are supposed to pay a fee of INR 500 in order to download them

Online-Mode Payment Details

Candidates can pay the application fee with the use of Debit/ Credit Card/Net Banking. Bank Transaction Charges shall differ depending on the payment option the candidate has chosen

  • Card mode: Select the card type-Debit or Credit Card. Then enter the Debit/Credit Card details which will include card number, expiry date, and CVV number
  • Net Banking Mode: Select the preferred bank from which you want to make the payment, enter the Net Banking User ID & Password and make the transaction online

Details of Offline Payment Mode (E-Challan)

  • First, generate the online challan and go for the Offline payment
  • Candidates have to take the print out of the generated e-challans to the bank concerned, fill the challan and make the payment over the counter in the bank itself
  • The Cheques, DDs or other instruments/modes of payment will not be accepted
  • E-challan must only be generated in the format of PDF format
  • Offline payments must be made only in cash

Overhead charges for online or offline payment

Aspirants who are filling in the CLAT Application Form are meant to bear extra charges at the time of making the payment through online or offline mode. The information for the same can be checked in the table below:

CLAT Reservations & Quotas

The candidates belonging to the General/Unreserved category will be automatically selected for all the NLUs if they do not check the relevant box. The reservation category should be selected cautiously as the provided options which have been registered in the application will be the foundation for any future claims in CLAT 2020

  • For NLUJA Assam, the university stretches the State reservation based on the permanent residence and in order to claim reservation under this very quota, select Assam as the State of Residence
  • NLUs like NLIU Bhopal, WBNUJS Kolkata, HNLU Raipur, and MNLU Mumbai stretch the State Reservation especially based on the domicile. In order to claim the reservation rights, the students shall select the respective State as their State of Domicile
  • For NUALS Kochi, the University extends the State reservation which is based on the nativity. In order to claim the reservation for this quota, select Kerala as the State of Nativity
  • It is necessary for the PWD/SAP/Divyang Candidates to fulfill all the terms and conditions for the same in order to utilize advantages by NLUs that provide these reservations

Note:

  • Candidates are supposed to convert grade /CGPA (if any) into a percentage
  • NLUs Preference – The list of all the National Law Universities will be listed according to the year in which it has been established. Select the NLUs according to the preference. The similar preferential selections will be taken into consideration at the time of CLAT Counseling 
  • Disability Percentage- Only those aspirants who are having 40% or more disability can avail of the advantages. The certificate from competent authority should visibly display the disability percentage
  •  Scribe- Those who are visually impaired or cerebral palsy or with locomotor impairment, and whose speed of writing/keyboard/mouse use is influenced, can take the assistance of a scribe at the time of the offline paper. There is an option to bring in your own scribe or opt for CLAT authority that provides a scribe.
