CLAT 2018 Online Application Process

CLAT 2018 Online Application Process: Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an All India Entrance Examination India for admission into undergraduate and postgraduate Law courses and is conducted by the NLUs or National Law University on a rotational basis. NUALS Kochi (The National University of Advanced Legal Studies Kochi) will conduct CLAT 2018 in the month of May 2018.

The CLAT 2018 conducting NLU, NUALS Kochi is expected to publish an official notification on admission test in the month of December and will announce CLAT 2018 application process in the month of January 2018. Exam dates for CLAT 2018 have not been declared yet. However, in 2017 the exam was conducted on May 14, 2017 and the online application process started on January 1, 2017.

All the aspirants are advised to check the eligibility criteria first before applying for CLAT 2018 application. CLAT 2018 eligibility criteria for undergraduate and postgraduate law courses are given below:

Eligibility Criteria for UG Courses as part of CLAT 2018 Online Application Process for UG Courses:

  • Age Criteria: Earlier, Bar Council of India had introduced age limit criteria for CLAT exam. However, now Supreme Court has directed Bar Council of India to remove the age limit criteria. The Official notification is yet to release for CLAT 2018. We will update here when the official notification is out. 

  • Qualification Eligibility: The candidate will be considered eligible for CLAT if he/she has passed the 12th examination with minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates).

  • Candidates appearing the 12th examination in March/April will also be eligible for CLAT 2018. Such candidates have to produce the proof of passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission.

Eligibility Criteria for UG Courses as part of CLAT 2018 Online Application Process for PG Courses:

  • Qualifying Examination: The prescribed qualification for LL.M. is LL.B./Five-Year Integrated LL.B. (Hons.)/ any other equivalent exam.

  • Minimum Marks: Minimum percentage of marks in qualifying examination should be 55% for unreserved /OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP). In case of SC/ST, the minimum marks would be 50%.

  • Final semester/final year examination appearing candidates may also apply.

  • Age Limit: No prescribed maximum age limit for PG courses.

Step by Step CLAT 2018 Online Application Process: CLAT 2018 Online Application Process explained in 5 steps

CLAT Registration 2018 can be filled in online mode only. No hard copy of CLAT Application Form and Information Brochure will be sold to any candidate. The application form will be available on the official website of CLAT in the first week of January 2018. Candidates can follow these steps for online application.

Step 1: Registration

  • The candidate has to visit the Official website of CLAT. Click on link ‘New Registration’ and fill in all the required dates. Candidates have to register themselves by creating a login account with a valid e-mail ID. On the successful creation of account, ID and Password will be sent to candidate’s registered ID/mobile number.

Step 2: Login & fill the form

  • Login through provisional ID and Password and upload scanned photograph and signature as per the specifications.

Step 3: Filling the details

  • The candidate should enter basic information such as category with category code, nationality, Exam Center choice, name, academic details.

Step 4: Fee Payment

  • After filling the CLAT Application form, candidate must pay the application fee payment. Candidate can pay the application fee through online (Debit/Credit or Net Banking) or offline (Bank Challan). The application fee of CLAT 2018 is different for different categories which is as follows:

Step 5: Print Confirmation Page

    • On the successful submission of application fee, candidate can take the print out of confirmation page.

CLAT Admit Card 2018

Candidates who have successfully filled their CLAT Application Form 2018 will be issued their Admit Card in the month of April 2018. Candidates can download the admit card from the official website of CLAT as well as from the website of NUALS Kochi. Eligible candidates should carry the Hall Ticket to the examination hall. Along with the admit card , candidates should carry an identity proof- Aadhar Card / Passport / Voter ID / Driving license on the examination day. The CLAT admit card mentions examination details including name and roll number of the candidate and timing and venue of the examination. CLAT applicants should also keep CLAT admit card 2018 in soft as well as hard copy format for future correspondence.

The CLAT Result 2018 will be declared in the month of May 2018 tentatively. The exam result will be available on the official website of CLAT (www.clat.ac.in). After the declaration of result, the CLAT 2018 merit list will be released most probably in the first week of June 2018. Admission will be done via centralized counseling and the allocation of seats will be done on the basis of the merit – cum – preference.
