CAT vs MAT : Differences and Which one is worth the effort? : CAT and MAT are both management entrance exams. The main difference is the that while CAT is to get admission into top of the line B-schools, MAT on the other hand is used by the next tier of B-Schools. CAT is abbreviated as Common Admission Test, while MAT is abbreviated as Management Aptitude Test.

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a national-level management entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) for admission to 20 IIMs and over 100 B-schools across India.
It is necessary to take CAT or the Common Aptitude Test if you have MBA dreams and want to get into IIM’s or any of the top 100 B-Schools. Getting into IIM’s takes both brains and brawns – which means its a combination of both hardwork and intelligence and certainly not for everyone. Students need more 99 to 100 percentile to get into any of the IIM’s spread across the country.
Over 2 lakh students compete in CAT Exam every year, so the examination is both tough and competitive.

In comparison to CAT, MAT is a much easier exam and is taken by lesser number of people but a lot of institutes and colleges accept MAT.

Candidates will be awarded 1 mark for each question and will lost 0.25 marks.
MAT or Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a national-level management entrance examination. The test scores are used for admission to various MBA, PGDM and allied management programmes. The exam is conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA). More than 600 B-Schools accept MAT exam scores. MAT is held four times a year. Graduates of any discipline can apply take the exam and final year graduation students can also apply. MAT has not age limit. Candidates can take online MAT test in more than 100 cities across India.

CAT vs MAT : Differences and Which one is worth the effort?
CAT is definitely worth the effort. CAT remains the king of management exams and if you want to get into the IIM’s or any of the top business schools. It is always recommended to give CAT. You can give MAT as well. However, some institutes might not accept CAT scores and may be accepting only certain exams. Find out and accrodingly take the exam.
