CAT is one of the toughest MBA entrance exams and it remains the king of all management exams. The scheme of the CAT Examination is divided into three- Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation and Verbal Ability. The syllabus for CAT 2017 is divided into these three subjects. Over the years, the IIM’s have kept the level of difficulty of the CAT Exam quite high, which is why it remains tough to get a high percentile in the CAT exam. In order to get into IIM’s or any of the top 100 B-Schools, you have to score more 99 percentile or more to get into any of the top 100 B-Schools.
The only thing about CAT exam is that you will have to equally display your skills both in English language, mathematics and reasoning. Sometimes, it so happens that people good at mathematics are not always good at English and not everyone good at English is good in mathematics. However, in CAT exam you will have to display your skills in Quantitative aptitude, Verbal Ability and Reasoning. QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE
The Quantitative aptitude section is taken from the fundamentals of high school mathematics and one must have covered this from 8th grade to 12th Grade. In order to score well in this section, you should have good idea of this level of mathematics that was thought in school and uptil Class 12. The bad part about the Quantitative aptitude section is that the questions are very tricky as compared to reasoning or English language. In order to crack this section, you must have a good calculation speed and be good at numbers.

DATA INTERPRETATION & LOGICAL REASONING (CAT Syllabus 2017-18 PDF)
Data Interpretation section deals with questions based on information provided from bar graphs, charts, tables and other data. The data needs to be interpreted based on the questions asked and answer the questions asked for the data provided. The questions are aimed to test the ability of the student to solve them with accuracy. Logical Reasoning questions check the ability of the candidate to evaluate the problem statements and derive at solutions for the same.

The Verbal Ability section in the CAT exams is to test how good the candidate is in English language. The candidate is thoroughly tests as to how well they are able to form sentences, create paragraphs and usage of correct English. CAT applicants must be well versed with Grammar, idioms and phrases. Candidates must be well versed with usage of both British and American English.
