The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a national-level management entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) for admission to 20 IIMs and over 100 B-schools across India. CAT 2017 exam will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2017, in 2 sessions of 3 hours duration each. More than two lakh candidates are expected to appear in the examination this year. The test is conducted every year by one of the IIMs based on a policy of rotation. This year CAT will be conducted by Indian Institute of Management Lucknow. Professor Neeraj Dwivedi of IIM Lucknow is the CAT 2017 convener. The registration for CAT 2017 was started on August 9 and will close on September 20.

IIM Lucknow has announced the list of CAT 2017 exam centers. CAT Exam Centers are the venues where CAT exam will be conducted. In last 4 years, a number of CAT exam cities has gone up substantially and is continuously rising year after year. In 2013, the number of test cities was 45. In the year 2016, CAT was conducted in 136 cities. This year, there are 142 CAT 2017 exam cities across the nation.

Many test centres are replaced with new ones this year. For example, Bhatinda in Punjab, Purnea in Bihar, Waknaghat in Himachal Pradesh, Samba in J&K, Dharwad and Gulbarga in Karnataka, Ernakulam in Kerala, Ulhasnagar in Maharashtra, Dhenkanal in Odisha, Bankura have been added to the list of CAT 2017 test centers in West Bengal. According to Prof Dwivedi, CAT 2017 convener, there is a need to increase the number of CAT exam centers to accommodate expected an increase in a number of candidates. IIM Lucknow brings about the changes, additions and replacement of many CAT test centers in order to facilitate easy accessibility for CAT aspirants and also to help them reduce their commuting time to arrive at the CAT test centre.

While filling the CAT 2017 registration and application form, candidates will be given choice to select four exam cities in order of preference from the list of state-wise exam cities provided in the CAT 2017 application form. According to the candidate’s preference, a CAT exam city will be allotted to them. If the exam officials are unable to allow any of the preferred cities, then a nearby city will be allotted to the candidate. Details about the test centers in these cities will be available on the website iimcat.ac.in from 18th October 2017 and the name of the test center along with the complete address of the CAT examination center will be indicated in the Admit Card. Candidates are advised to carry the admit card and valid photo ID proof to the CAT exam center. Also, the candidates are required to reach the examination center 1 hour 30 minutes before the commencement of the test. The last entry to the exam hall will be allowed 15 minutes before the commencement of the CAT exam.
