हैती के राष्ट्रपति जोवेनेल मोइज़ की उनके घर पर हत्या कर दी गई

• हैती के राष्ट्रपति, जोवेनेल मोइस की उनके घर में घुसकर हत्या कर दी गई और उनकी पत्नी को भी घायल कर दिया गया, अंतरिम प्रधान मंत्री ने एक ऐसे अधिनियम की घोषणा की जो सामूहिक हिंसा और राजनीतिक अस्थिरता से घिरे कैरेबियाई राष्ट्र को और अधिक अस्थिर करने का जोखिम रखता है। राष्ट्रपति को आबादी के भारी विरोध का सामना करना पड़ा, जो उनके जनादेश को नाजायज मानते थे, और उन्होंने चार वर्षों में सात प्रधानमंत्रियों की एक श्रृंखला के माध्यम से मंथन किया। हाल ही में, जोसेफ को केवल तीन महीने के बाद इस सप्ताह पद पर प्रतिस्थापित किया जाना था।

न्यू गिनीज वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड: डेनमार्क में बनाया गया सबसे ऊंचा रेत महल

• डेनमार्क में एक रेत के महल ने विश्‍व का सबसे ऊंचा रेत महल होने का नया गिनीज वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड दर्ज किया है। त्रिकोणीय आकार का रेत महल डेनमार्क के ब्लोखस शहर में बनाया गया है। इसकी ऊंचाई 21.16 मीटर (69.4 फीट) है। यह नई संरचना 2019 में जर्मनी में 17.66 मीटर मापने वाले सैंडकास्टल द्वारा रखे गए पिछले रिकॉर्ड की तुलना में 3.5 मीटर लंबा है। डच निर्माता, विल्फ्रेड स्टिजर को विश्‍व के 30 सर्वश्रेष्ठ रेत मूर्तिकारों द्वारा सहायता प्रदान की गई थी।
• कई अन्य संरचनाओं की तरह ढहने से बचने के लिए संरचना को त्रिभुज के आकार में बनाया गया है। कलाकार के रेत में अविश्वसनीय आकृतियों को तराशने के लिए इसके चारों ओर एक लकड़ी का ढांचा बनाया गया था। समुद्र किनारे बसे छोटे से गांव ब्लोखस में एक पिरामिड जैसा दिखने वाला यह बेहद अलंकृत स्मारक 4,860 टन रेत से बना है। यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कि रेत चिपकती है, इसमें लगभग 10% मिट्टी मिलाई गई थी।

रक्षा मंत्रालय ने लागू की स्पर्श प्रणाली

• रक्षा मंत्रालय ने स्पर्श (SPARSH) (पेंशन प्रशासन रक्षा के लिए प्रणाली/System for Pension Administration Raksha), रक्षा पेंशन की मंजूरी और संवितरण के स्वचालन के लिए एक एकीकृत प्रणाली लागू की है। यह वेब-आधारित प्रणाली पेंशन दावों को संसाधित करती है और किसी बाहरी मध्यस्थ पर भरोसा किए बिना पेंशन को सीधे रक्षा पेंशनभोगियों के बैंक खातों में जमा करती है। पेंशनभोगियों को उनकी पेंशन संबंधी जानकारी देखने, सेवाओं तक पहुंचने और उनके पेंशन मामलों से संबंधित शिकायतों, यदि कोई हो, के निवारण के लिए शिकायत दर्ज करने के लिए एक पेंशनर पोर्टल उपलब्ध है।
• स्पर्श उन पेंशनभोगियों को अंतिम छोर तक कनेक्टिविटी प्रदान करने के लिए सेवा केंद्रों की स्थापना की परिकल्पना करता है, जो किसी भी कारण से सीधे स्पर्श पोर्टल तक पहुंचने में असमर्थ हो सकते हैं। रक्षा लेखा विभाग के कई कार्यालयों के अलावा, जो पहले से ही पेंशनभोगियों के लिए सेवा केंद्र के रूप में काम कर रहे हैं, रक्षा पेंशनभोगियों से डील करने वाले दो सबसे बड़े बैंक - भारतीय स्टेट बैंक (SBI) और पंजाब नेशनल बैंक (PNB) को सेवा केंद्रों के रूप में सहयोजित किया गया है।

भारत का पहला चल मीठे पानी की सुरंग एक्वेरियम बेंगलुरु स्टेशन पर स्थापित

• क्रान्तिवीरा संगोल्लि रायाण्ण रेलवे स्टेशन, जिसे बेंगलुरु सिटी रेलवे स्टेशन के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, भारत का पहला रेलवे स्टेशन बन गया है, जिसमें मीठे पानी की चल सुरंग एक्वेरियम है। अत्याधुनिक एक्वेरियम को भारतीय रेलवे स्टेशनों के विकास सहयोग लिमिटेड (IRSDC) द्वारा HNi एक्वाटिक किंगडम के सहयोग से संयुक्त रूप से खोला गया है।
• एक्वाटिक किंगडम एक्वेरियम अमेज़न नदी की अवधारणा पर आधारित है और 12 फीट लंबा है। स्टेशन का प्रवेश द्वार अब समुद्री जीवन की एक झलक देता है, जिसमें एक सुंदर डॉल्फ़िन नम्रता से आगंतुकों का एक मामूली धनुष और एक मुस्कान के साथ अभिवादन करती है। एक 3डी सेल्फी क्षेत्र, 20 फीट कांच की परिधि भी नई सुविधा की कुछ आकर्षक विशेषताएं हैं।

सार्वजनिक उद्यम विभाग को वित्त मंत्रालय के अधीन लाया गया

• भारत सरकार ने सार्वजनिक उद्यम विभाग (DPE) को वित्त मंत्रालय के अधीन लाने का फैसला किया है। DPE पहले भारी उद्योग और सार्वजनिक उद्यम मंत्रालय के अधीन था।
• भविष्य की विनिवेश योजनाओं के संबंध में समन्वय को आसान बनाने के लिए इसे वित्त मंत्री के अधीन लाया गया है। DPE को शामिल करने के बाद अब वित्त मंत्रालय में छह विभाग शामिल हैं।

Amazon ने गुजरात में लॉन्च किया अपना पहला डिजिटल केंद्र

• Amazon ने भारत में गुजरात के सूरत में अपना पहला डिजिटल केंद्र लॉन्च किया है। अमेज़न डिजिटल केंद्र का उद्घाटन गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री विजय रूपानी ने किया। अमेज़ॅन के डिजिटल केंद्र ऐसे केंद्र हैं जो सूक्ष्म, लघु और मध्यम उद्यमों (MSME) को ई-कॉमर्स के लाभों के बारे में जानने का अवसर प्रदान करेंगे।
• MSME अमेज़ॅन डिजिटल केंद्र पर जा सकते हैं और ईकामर्स, GST और कराधान समर्थन, शिपिंग और रसद समर्थन, कैटलॉगिंग सहायता और डिजिटल मार्केटिंग सेवाओं के लाभों पर प्रशिक्षण सहित तीसरे पक्ष की सेवाओं का लाभ उठा सकते हैं।
• कंपनी ने विक्रेताओं को पूरे भारत और वैश्विक स्तर पर ग्राहकों तक पहुंचने में सक्षम बनाने पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया है, और प्रौद्योगिकी, रसद, वितरण बुनियादी ढांचे और डिजिटल भुगतान में महत्वपूर्ण निवेश किया है, जिससे सामूहिक रूप से अधिक ग्राहकों और व्यवसायों को ऑनलाइन आने में मदद मिली है।

मुंबई, पुणे होंगे 2022 महिला एशियाई कप की मेजबानी

• भारतीय सेना ने कश्मीर में अपनी एक फायरिंग रेंज का नाम बॉलीवुड अभिनेत्री विद्या बालन के नाम पर रखा है। विद्या बालन फायरिंग रेंज जम्मू-कश्मीर के बारामूला जिले के गुलमर्ग में स्थित है।
• यह फैसला भारतीय सिनेमा में उनके योगदान को देखते हुए लिया गया है। वर्ष की शुरुआत में, अभिनेत्री और उनके पति सिद्धार्थ रॉय कपूर भारतीय सेना द्वारा आयोजित गुलमर्ग विंटर फेस्टिवल में शामिल हुए थे।

कौशिक बसु को अर्थशास्त्र के लिए हम्बोल्ट रिसर्च अवार्ड से सम्मानित किया गया

• भारतीय अर्थशास्त्री कौशिक बसु को अर्थशास्त्र के लिए हम्बोल्ट रिसर्च अवार्ड से सम्मानित किया गया है। उन्हें यह पुरस्कार जर्मनी के हैम्बर्ग में बुसेरियस लॉ स्कूल के प्रोफेसर डॉ हंस-बर्न्ड शेफ़र द्वारा प्रदान किया गया था। विश्व बैंक के पूर्व मुख्य अर्थशास्त्री, बसु वर्तमान में कॉर्नेल विश्वविद्यालय में अर्थशास्त्र के प्रोफेसर हैं। उन्होंने 2009 से 2012 तक भारत सरकार के मुख्य आर्थिक सलाहकार के रूप में भी कार्य किया। बसु भारत में तीसरे सर्वोच्च नागरिक पुरस्कार पद्म भूषण के प्राप्तकर्ता भी हैं।
• प्रतिष्ठित पुरस्कार अलेक्जेंडर वॉन हम्बोल्ट फाउंडेशन द्वारा प्रायोजित है और प्रत्येक वर्ष 100 प्राप्तकर्ताओं को प्रदान किया जाता है।
• हम्बोल्ट रिसर्च अवार्ड विश्‍व भर के वैज्ञानिकों और अर्थशास्त्रियों को उनके काम के लिए सम्मानित करता है। इस पुरस्कार में 60,000 यूरो की पुरस्कार राशि और जर्मनी में एक वैज्ञानिक संस्थान में 12 महीने तक अनुसंधान परियोजनाओं को पूरा करने की पेशकश शामिल है।

डीएमआरसी ने भारत की पहली यूपीआई-आधारित कैशलेस पार्किंग शुरू की

• दिल्ली मेट्रो रेल कॉर्पोरेशन (DMRC) ने प्रवेश और भुगतान के समय को कम करने के लिए भारत की पहली FASTag या एकीकृत भुगतान इंटरफ़ेस (UPI) आधारित पार्किंग सुविधा शुरू की है। यह सुविधा कश्मीरी गेट मेट्रो स्टेशन पर शुरू की गई थी। मल्टी-मॉडल इंटीग्रेशन (MMI) पहल के हिस्से के रूप में, स्टेशन पर ऑटो, टैक्सियों और आर-रिक्शा के लिए समर्पित इंटरमीडिएट पब्लिक ट्रांसपोर्ट (IPT) लेन का भी उद्घाटन किया गया।
• सुविधा 55 चार पहिया और 174 दोपहिया वाहनों को समायोजित कर सकती है। FASTag के माध्यम से 4-पहिया वाहनों का प्रवेश और निकास एवं भुगतान किया जा सकता है।
• पार्किंग शुल्क FASTag के माध्यम से काटा जाएगा, जिससे प्रवेश और भुगतान के लिए समय कम हो जाएगा। इस सुविधा में केवल FASTag वाले वाहनों को पार्क करने की अनुमति होगी।

फेसबुक ने न्यूज़लेटर प्लेटफॉर्म "बुलेटिन" लॉन्च किया

• फेसबुक ने बुलेटिन नामक प्रकाशन और सदस्यता टूल के एक सेट की घोषणा की है, जिसका उद्देश्य अमेरिका में स्वतंत्र लेखकों को बढ़ावा देना है। बुलेटिन में सामग्री के निर्माण, मुद्रीकरण और दर्शकों की वृद्धि पर केंद्रित समर्थन शामिल होगा। इसका उद्देश्य लेखन और ऑडियो सामग्री - पॉडकास्ट से लेकर लाइव ऑडियो रूम तक - का एक ही स्थान पर समर्थन करने के लिए अपने मौजूदा टूल को एकीकृत करना है।

Jovenel Moise President of Haiti assassinated at his home

• Haiti President, Jovenel Moise was assassinated and his wife wounded in an attack at their home, the interim prime minister announced an act that risks further destabilizing the Caribbean nation beset by gang violence and political volatility. The president faced steep opposition from swathes of the population that deemed his mandate illegitimate, and he churned through a series of seven prime ministers in four years. Most recently, Joseph was supposed to be replaced this week after only three months in the post.
• Moise, a former entrepreneur who set up a string of businesses in the north of the country, where he hails from, burst onto the political stage in 2017 with a message of re-building the impoverished nation. He campaigned on populist pledges, as all candidates in Haiti do, but he kept up the rhetoric even after he was elected in February 2017.

New Guinness World Record: tallest sandcastle constructed in Denmark

• A sandcastle in Denmark has entered into new Guinness World Record for being the tallest sandcastle in the world. The triangular-shaped sandcastle has been built in the town of Blokhus in Denmark. It stands at a height of 21.16 metres (69.4 feet). This new structure is 3.5m taller than the previous record held by sandcastle measuring 17.66 m in Germany in 2019. Dutch creator, Wilfred Stijger, was assisted by 30 of the world’s best sand sculptors.
• The structure is built in the shape of a triangle to avoid collapsing like many others have. A wooden structure was built around it to allow the artist to carve the incredible figures in the sand. This highly decorated monument in the small seaside village of Blokhus, which is reminiscent of a pyramid, is made up of 4,860 tonnes of sand. To ensure the sand sticks on, it was mixed with around 10% clay.

Ministry of Defence implemented SPARSH System

• Ministry of Defence has implemented SPARSH (System for Pension Administration Raksha), an integrated system for automation of sanction and disbursement of defence pension. This web-based system processes pension claims and credits pension directly into the bank accounts of defence pensioners without relying on any external intermediary. A Pensioner Portal is available for pensioners to view their pension-related information, access services and register complaints for redressal of grievances, if any, relating to their pension matters.
• SPARSH envisages the establishment of Service Centres to provide last-mile connectivity to pensioners who may be unable to directly access the SPARSH portal for any reason. In addition to several offices of the Defence Accounts Department, which are already functioning as Service Centres for pensioners, the two largest banks dealing with defence pensioners – State Bank of India (SBI) and Punjab National Bank (PNB) – have been co-opted as Service Centres.

India’s first movable freshwater tunnel aquarium installed at Bengaluru Station

• Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station also known as Bengaluru City Railway Station has become the first railway station in India with a movable freshwater tunnel aquarium. The state-of-the-art aquarium has been jointly opened by the Indian Railway Stations Development Cooperation Limited (IRSDC) in collaboration with the HNi Aquatic Kingdom.
• The Aquatic Kingdom aquarium is based on the concept of the Amazon River and is 12-feet long. The entrance of the station now gives a glimpse into marine life, with a beautiful dolphin humbly greeting visitors with a slight bow and a smile. A 3D selfie area, 20 feet of glass periphery are also some attractive features of the new facility.

 Dept of Public Enterprises brought under Finance Ministry

• The Government of India has decided to bring Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) under the finance ministry. DPE was earlier under the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. It has been brought under the finance minister in a bid to ease coordination regarding future disinvestment plans. The Finance ministry now comprises six departments, after the inclusion of DPE.

Amazon launches its first Digital Kendra in Gujarat

• Amazon has launched its first Digital Kendra in India in Surat, Gujarat. Amazon Digital Kendra was inaugurated by Vijay Rupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat. Digital Kendras of Amazon are centres that will provide micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) the opportunity to learn about the benefits of e-commerce.
• MSMEs can visit the Amazon Digital Kendra and avail of third party services including training on the benefits of eCommerce, GST and taxation support, shipping and logistics support, cataloguing assistance and digital marketing services.
• The company has focused on enabling sellers to reach customers across India and globally, and has made significant investments in technology, logistics, delivery infrastructure and digitising payments that collectively helped more customers and businesses to come online.

SPORTS

Mumbai, Pune will be host 2022 women’s Asian Cup

• Women’s Asian Cup in India will be held in Mumbai and Pune after the Asian Football Confederation dropped Bhubaneswar and Ahemdabad as venues to minimise the travelling time for participants and ensure an “optimum environment” for a bio-secure bubble. The Mumbai Football Arena at the Andheri Sports Complex and the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune have been chosen as the new venues.
• The decision was taken after considering the existing challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and as part of efforts to minimise the travelling time for teams and officials between the venues, whilst ensuring the optimum environment to implement the biomedical bubble for the benefit of all stakeholders.

Indian Army names firing range after Bollywood actress Vidya Balan

• The Indian Army has named one of its firing ranges in Kashmir after Bollywood actress Vidya Balan. The Vidya Balan firing range is situated at Gulmarg in the Baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir.
• The decision was taken in recognition of her contribution to Indian cinema. Earlier in the year, the actress and her husband Siddharth Roy Kapoor had attended the Gulmarg Winter Festival organised by the Indian Army.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITION

Kaushik Basu has been awarded the Humboldt Research Award for Economics

• Indian economist Kaushik Basu has been awarded the Humboldt Research Award for Economics. The award was conferred on him by Professor Dr Hans-Bernd Schäfer of Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, Germany. A former chief economist of the World Bank, Basu is currently a professor of Economics at Cornell University. He also served as the Government of India’s chief economic advisor from 2009 to 2012. Basu is also a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in India.
• The prestigious award is sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and awarded to as many as 100 recipients each year.
• The Humboldt Research Award honours scientists and economists from across the world for their work. The award entails prize money of 60,000 euros and an offer to carry out research projects at a scientific institution in Germany for up to 12 months.

BANKING AND ECONOMY

DMRC launched India’s first UPI-based cashless parking

• Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched India’s first FASTag or Unified Payments Interface (UPI)-based parking facility to reduce the time for entry and payment. The facility was launched at the Kashmere Gate metro station. As part of the Multi-Model Integration (MMI) initiative, dedicated Intermediate Public Transport (IPT) lanes for autos, taxis and r-Rickshaws were also inaugurated at the station.
• The facility can accommodate 55 four-wheelers and 174 two-wheelers. The entry and exit and payment of 4-wheelers can be done through the FASTag.
• The parking fee will be deducted through FASTag, which will reduce the time for entry and payment. Only the vehicles with FASTag will be allowed to park in this facility.

Facebook Launched newsletter platform “Bulletin”

• Facebook has announced a set of publishing and subscription tools named Bulletin, aimed to promote independent writers in the US. The bulletin will include support focused on the creation of content, monetisation and audience growth. It also aims to integrate its existing tools to support writing and audio content — from podcasts to Live Audio Rooms in one place.
• Facebook is pushing to compete in the fast-growing email newsletter trend, as high-profile journalists and writers have left media companies over the past year to strike out on their own.
