अल्फाबेट ने नया एआई ड्रग डिस्कवरी स्टार्टअप, आइसोमोर्फिक लैब्स लॉन्च किया

• गूगल की मूल कंपनी अल्फाबेट इंक ने लंदन में एक नई कंपनी आइसोमॉर्फिक लैब्स लॉन्च की है। कंपनी का उद्देश्य मानवता की कुछ सबसे विनाशकारी बीमारियों के इलाज के लिए दवा की खोज और दवा के लिए एआई (कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता) का उपयोग करना है। डेमिस हासाबिस आइसोमॉर्फिक लैब्स के सीईओ होंगे। हासाबिस डीपमाइंड के सीईओ और सह-संस्थापक हैं, जो एक अन्य अल्फाबेट सहायक कंपनी है, जिसने एआई का उपयोग अपने अमीनो एसिड अनुक्रम से सीधे प्रोटीन की 3 डी संरचना की भविष्यवाणी करने के लिए किया था।
• लंदन स्थित आइसोमॉर्फिक लैब्स जैविक और चिकित्सा अनुसंधान के क्षेत्र में एआई के सबसे महत्वपूर्ण अनुप्रयोगों पर काम करेगी। कंपनी का लक्ष्य दवा की खोज में तेजी लाने के लिए AI का उपयोग करना है, और अंततः मानवता की कुछ सबसे विनाशकारी बीमारियों का इलाज खोजना है। नया उद्यम नई औषधीय प्रगति की खोज के लिए कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता का उपयोग करते हुए बायोमेडिकल और फार्मास्यूटिकल कंपनियों के साथ साझेदारी करने की भी योजना बना रहा है।

केंद्रीय मंत्री आर के सिंह ने वस्तुतः मरुसुदर नदी के डायवर्जन का उद्घाटन किया

• केंद्रीय ऊर्जा मंत्री आर के सिंह ने जम्मू-कश्मीर के किश्तवाड़ में पाकल दुल हाइड्रो इलेक्ट्रिक प्रोजेक्ट के मारुसुदर नदी के मोड़ का वस्तुतः उद्घाटन किया। पाकल दुल जलविद्युत परियोजना (1,000 मेगावाट) का निर्माण चिनाब वैली पावर प्रोजेक्ट्स प्राइवेट लिमिटेड (CVPPPL) और जम्मू और कश्मीर राज्य विद्युत विकास निगम द्वारा किया जा रहा है। मारुसुदर नदी चिनाब नदी की एक प्रमुख सहायक नदी है।
• पाकल दुल जलविद्युत परियोजना 1000 मेगावाट की परियोजना है। इसका निर्माण चिनाब वैली पावर प्रोजेक्ट्स [पी] लिमिटेड द्वारा किया जा रहा है। यह JKSPDC (जम्मू-कश्मीर सरकार) और NHPC लिमिटेड (भारत सरकार उद्यम) की एक संयुक्त उद्यम कंपनी है।
• पाकल दुल एच.ई. परियोजना से 2030 तक 450 गीगावाट अक्षय ऊर्जा के लक्ष्य को पूरा करने में मदद मिलेगी।

प्रेसिडेंट्स कप: मनु भाकर, जवाद फोरोफी ने एयर पिस्टल मिक्स्ड टीम गोल्ड जीता

• भारत की महिला पिस्टल स्टार मनु भाकर और ईरानी ओलंपिक चैंपियन जवाद फोरोफी ने पोलैंड के व्रोकला में चल रहे ISSF प्रेसिडेंट्स कप के उद्घाटन संस्करण में 10 मीटर एयर पिस्टल मिश्रित टीम शूटिंग स्पर्धा में स्वर्ण पदक जीता है। भारत-ईरानी जोड़ी ने मैथिल्डे लामोले और आर्टेम चेर्नौसोव की फ्रांसीसी-रूसी जोड़ी को 16-8 से हराकर स्वर्ण पदक जीता। ISSF प्रेसिडेंट्स कप में सात सदस्यीय भारतीय दल हिस्सा ले रहा है।

• बंधन बैंक ने असम में लोकप्रिय असमिया और बॉलीवुड गायक जुबीन गर्ग को बैंक का ब्रांड एंबेसडर घोषित किया है। यह जुड़ाव बंधन बैंक के लिए एक मील का पत्थर है क्योंकि यह पहली बार है जब बैंक ने छह वर्ष पहले अपनी स्थापना के बाद से किसी ब्रांड एंबेसडर के साथ जुड़ाव किया है।

• विश्व शहरीकरण दिवस, जिसे "विश्व नगर नियोजन दिवस" के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, 8 नवंबर को विश्व स्तर पर मनाया जाता है, जो कि जीवंत समुदायों को बनाने में योजना की भूमिका को पहचानने और बढ़ावा देने के लिए है। विश्व शहरीकरण दिवस शहरों और क्षेत्रों के विकास के परिणामस्वरूप पर्यावरणीय प्रभाव पर ध्यान आकर्षित करने के लिए वैश्विक परिप्रेक्ष्य से योजना को देखने का अवसर प्रदान करता है।
• WUD का आयोजन इंटरनेशनल सोसाइटी ऑफ सिटी एंड रीजनल प्लानर्स (ISOCARP) द्वारा किया जाता है। इस दिन की स्थापना 1949 में ब्यूनस आयर्स विश्वविद्यालय के दिवंगत प्रोफेसर कार्लोस मारिया डेला पाओलेरा ने योजना बनाने में सार्वजनिक और व्यावसायिक रुचि को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए की थी।

• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय रेडियोलॉजी दिवस प्रतिवर्ष 8 नवंबर को विश्व स्तर पर मनाया जाता है। यह दिन रेडियोलॉजी के उस मूल्य के बारे में जागरूकता को बढ़ावा देने के लिए मनाया जाता है, जो सुरक्षित रोगी देखभाल में योगदान देता है, और स्वास्थ्य देखभाल की निरंतरता में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका रेडियोलॉजिस्ट और रेडियोग्राफर की सार्वजनिक समझ में निरंतर सुधार करता है। 2021 के लिए थीम 'इंटरवेंशनल रेडियोलॉजी - रोगी के लिए सक्रिय देखभाल' है।
• रेडियोलॉजी चिकित्सा अनुशासन है जो जानवरों और मनुष्यों के शरीर के भीतर रोगों के निदान और उपचार के लिए चिकित्सा इमेजिंग का उपयोग करता है। एक्स-रे रेडियोग्राफी, अल्ट्रासाउंड, कंप्यूटेड टोमोग्राफी (CT), पॉज़िट्रॉन एमिशन टोमोग्राफी (PET), फ्लोरोस्कोपी , और चुंबकीय अनुनाद इमेजिंग (MRI) सहित विभिन्न प्रकार की इमेजिंग तकनीकों का उपयोग रोगों के निदान या उपचार के लिए किया जाता है। इंटरवेंशनल रेडियोलॉजी आमतौर पर ऊपर वर्णित इमेजिंग तकनीकों के मार्गदर्शन के साथ न्यूनतम इनवेसिव चिकित्सा प्रक्रियाओं का प्रदर्शन है।

कन्नड़ अभिनेता पुनीत राजकुमार को मरणोपरांत बसवश्री पुरस्कार 2021 से सम्मानित किया जाएगा

• कन्नड़ अभिनेता पुनीत राजकुमार को मरणोपरांत ब्रुहनमुट्ट द्वारा बसवश्री पुरस्कार 2021 से सम्मानित किया जाएगा। प्यार से अप्पू कहे जाने वाले पुनीत, जिनका जन्म 17 मार्च, 1975 को चेन्नई में हुआ था, एक अभिनेता, पार्श्व गायक, टेलीविजन प्रस्तोता और निर्माता थे। मैटिनी आइडल राजकुमार के बेटे पुनीत 29 फिल्मों में मुख्य अभिनेता थे और एक बच्चे के रूप में और कई फिल्मों में दिखाई दिए।
• यह पुरस्कार भगवान बसवेश्वर के सिद्धांतों का पालन करके लोगों को उनके संबंधित क्षेत्रों में समाज की सेवाओं के लिए सम्मानित करता है। यह चित्रदुर्गा ब्रुहनमुट्ट द्वारा 1997 से प्रस्तुत किया जा रहा है। पुरस्कार में 5 लाख रुपये नकद और एक स्मृति चिन्ह शामिल है। पीटी उषा (2009), मलाला युसुफ़ज़ई (2014), पी साईनाथ (2016), डॉ के कस्तूरीरंगन (2020) ने हाल के दिनों में यह पुरस्कार जीता है।

बैंकिंग और आर्थिक

अक्टूबर में जीएसटी संग्रह 1.30 लाख करोड़ रुपये के पार

• अक्टूबर महीने के लिए सकल माल और सेवा कर संग्रह 1,30,127 करोड़ रुपये रहा, जो जुलाई 2017 में जीएसटी लागू होने के बाद से दूसरा सबसे बड़ा संग्रह है। अप्रैल 2021 में अब तक का सर्वाधिक 1.41 लाख करोड़ रुपये का जीएसटी संग्रह दर्ज किया गया था। महीने के लिए राजस्व वर्ष-दर-वर्ष 24% अधिक है।
• अक्टूबर में एकत्र किए गए सकल जीएसटी राजस्व में से 23,861 करोड़ रुपये सीजीएसटी की ओर, 30,421 करोड़ रुपये एसजीएसटी की ओर और 67,361 करोड़ रुपये आईजीएसटी की ओर था, और उपकर की राशि 8,484 करोड़ रुपये थी। जीएसटी परिषद द्वारा लिए गए निर्णय के अनुसार चालू वित्त वर्ष के दौरान जीएसटी मुआवजा जारी करने में कमी के एवज में 1.59 लाख करोड़ रुपये का एक के बाद एक ऋण अग्रिम में जारी किया गया है।

Alphabet launches new AI drug discovery startup, Isomorphic Labs

• Google parent company Alphabet Inc. has launched a new company in London called Isomorphic Labs. The company aims to use AI (artificial intelligence) for drug discovery and medicine to find cures for some of humanity’s most devastating diseases. Demis Hassabis will be the CEO of Isomorphic Labs. Hassabis is the CEO and co-founder of DeepMind, another Alphabet subsidiary that used AI to predict the 3D structure of a protein directly from its amino acid sequence.
• The London-based Isomorphic Labs will work on the most important applications of AI — in the field of biological and medical research. The company aims to use AI to accelerate drug discovery, and ultimately, find cures for some of humanity’s most devastating diseases. The new venture also plans to partner with biomedical and pharmaceutical companies, using artificial intelligence to discover new medicinal advancements.

Union Minister R K Singh virtually inaugurated the diversion of the Marusudar River

• Union Power Minister R K Singh virtually inaugurated the diversion of the Marusudar River of Pakal Dul Hydro Electric Project in Kishtwar, J&K. Pakal Dul HE Project (1,000 MW) is being constructed by Chenab Valley Power Projects Pvt Limited (CVPPPL) and Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation. Marusudar River is a major tributary of the Chenab River.
• Pakal Dul HE Project is a 1000 MW project. It is being constructed by Chenab Valley Power Projects [P] Ltd. It is a joint venture company of JKSPDC (Govt of J&K) and NHPC Ltd (Govt of India Enterprise).
• Pakal Dul H.E. Project will help in fulfilling the target of 450 GW Renewable energy by 2030.

President's Cup: Manu Bhaker, Javad Foroughi Win Air Pistol Mixed Team Gold

• India’s woman pistol star Manu Bhaker and Iranian Olympic champion Javad Foroughi has won the 10m air pistol mixed team gold at the inaugural ISSF President’s Cup at the Wroclaw in Poland. The Indo-Iranian pair beat the French-Russian duo of Mathilde Lamolle and Artem Chernousov 16-8 to clinch the gold medal. A seven-member Indian contingent is participating in the ISSF President’s Cup.

Zubeen Garg Appointed as the brand ambassador of Bandhan Bank for Assam

• Bandhan Bank has announced Popular Assamese & Bollywood singer Zubeen Garg as the brand ambassador for the Bank in Assam. This association is a landmark one for Bandhan Bank as this is the first time ever that the Bank has associated with a brand ambassador since its inception six years back.
• To mark the commencement of this association, Zubeen has released his new music video which showcases diverse elements of Assamese culture and heritage. The song and video have been produced courtesy of Bandhan Bank. Titled ‘Axom Amaar Mone Praane,” the song is a melodious blend of the different kinds of folk music native to Assam.

Tarak Sinha, the father-figure coach, passes away

• Eminent Cricket Coach and Dronacharya Awardee, Tarak Sinha has passed away after a prolonged illness. He is known for training some of India’s finest cricketers like Manoj Prabhakar, Raman Lamba, Ajay Sharma, Atul Wassan, Surinder Khanna, Sanjiv Sharma, Aakash Chopra, Anjum Chopra, Rumeli Dhar, Ashish Nehra, Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant.

World Urbanism Day 2021: 08th  November

• World Urbanism Day, also known as “World Town Planning Day”, is celebrated on 8 November globally, to recognise and promote the role of planning in creating livable communities. World Urbanism Day provides an opportunity to look at planning from a global perspective, in order to draw attention to the environmental impact resulting from the development of cities and territories.
• WUD is organised by the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP). The day was founded in 1949 by the late Professor Carlos Maria della Paolera of the University of Buenos Aires, to advance public and professional interest in planning.

International Day of Radiology 2021: 08th November

• International Day of Radiology is observed globally on 8th November every year. The day is celebrated to promote the awareness of the value that radiology contributes to safe patient care, and improve public understanding of the vital role radiologists and radiographers play in the healthcare continuum. The theme for 2021 is ‘Interventional Radiology – Active care for the patient’.
• Radiology is the medical discipline that uses medical imaging to diagnose and treat diseases within the bodies of animals and humans. A variety of imaging techniques such as X-ray radiography, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), nuclear medicine including positron emission tomography (PET), fluoroscopy, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are used to diagnose or treat diseases. Interventional radiology is the performance of usually minimally invasive medical procedures with the guidance of imaging technologies such as those mentioned above.

Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar will be posthumously conferred the Basavashree award 2021

• Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar will be posthumously conferred the Basavashree award 2021 by the Bruhanmutt. Fondly called Appu, Puneeth, who was born in Chennai on March 17, 1975, was an actor, playback singer, television presenter, and producer. Puneeth, son of Matinee Idol Rajkumar, was a lead actor in 29 films and as a child and appeared in many films.
• The award honours people for services to society in their respective fields by following the principles of Lord Basaveshwar. It is presented by Chitradurga Bruhanmutt since 1997. The award includes Rs 5 lakh cash and a memento. PT Usha (2009), Malala Yousufzai (2014), P Sainath (2016), Dr K Kasturirangan (2020) are some to win the award in recent times.

GST Collections Touch Rs 1.30 Lakh Crore In October

• Gross Goods and service tax (GST) collection for the month of October came in at Rs 1,30,127 crore, the second-highest collection since GST was implemented in July 2017. The highest-ever GST collection of Rs. 1.41 lakh crore was recorded in April 2021. Revenues for the month are 24% higher year-on-year.
• Of the gross GST revenue collected in October, Rs 23,861 crore was towards CGST, Rs 30,421 crore was towards SGST and Rs 67,361 crore was towards IGST, and Cess amounted to Rs 8,484 crore. According to the decision taken by the GST Council, back to back the loan of Rs 1.59 lakh crore has been released in advance in lieu of a shortfall in the release of GST compensation during the current fiscal.
