भूटान की मंगदेछु जलविद्युत परियोजना को ब्रुनेल पदक से सम्मानित किया गया

• भूटान की भारत-सहायता प्राप्त मंगदेछु जलविद्युत परियोजना को लंदन स्थित सिविल इंजीनियर्स संस्थान (ICE) द्वारा सम्मानित ब्रुनेल मेडल से सम्मानित किया गया। यह पुरस्कार उद्योग के भीतर सिविल इंजीनियरिंग में उत्कृष्टता के प्रतीक के रूप में दिया गया था और भूटान को भारतीय दूत रुचिरा कंबोज ने मंगदेछु जलविद्युत परियोजना प्राधिकरण के अध्यक्ष ल्योंपो लोकनाथ शर्मा को सौंप दिया था। मंगदेछु परियोजना को सम्मानित किए जाने के कारणों में से एक इसकी सामाजिक और पर्यावरणीय साख के कारण था।
• इस परियोजना से प्रतिवर्ष 2.4 मिलियन टन ग्रीनहाउस गैस उत्सर्जन में कमी आएगी।
• अतीत में भूटान और भारत ने सामूहिक रूप से भूटान की जलविद्युत ऊर्जा क्षमता को बढ़ाकर 12000 मेगावाट करने का संकल्प लिया है।

भारत का पहला स्वदेशी विमानवाहक पोत, विक्रांत

• भारत का पहला स्वदेशी विमानवाहक पोत, विक्रांत अपना पहला समुद्री परीक्षण शुरू करने के लिए रवाना हुआ। आईएनएस विक्रांत को भारतीय नौसेना के नौसेना डिजाइन निदेशालय (DND) द्वारा डिजाइन किया गया था और कोचीन शिपयार्ड लिमिटेड (CSL) में बनाया गया था।
• यह उन्नत युद्धपोत जमीन से ऊपर तक एक विमानवाहक पोत बनाने के लिए दो संस्थाओं द्वारा पहला प्रयास है। आईएनएस विक्रांत में 75 प्रतिशत स्वदेशी सामग्री है और इसे पूर्वी नौसेना कमान में शामिल किया जाएगा। इसे अगस्त 2022 तक भारतीय नौसेना में शामिल किया जाएगा।

 बिजली मंत्री आर के सिंह ने ई-प्रमाणन कार्यक्रम का शुभारंभ किया

• बिजली मंत्री आर के सिंह ने नियामक प्रशिक्षण प्रदान करने के लिए एक ई-प्रमाणन कार्यक्रम, 'बिजली क्षेत्र के लिए सुधार और नियामक ज्ञान आधार' शुरू किया है। केंद्रीय बिजली और नवीन और नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा मंत्री आर के सिंह ने वर्चुअल मोड के माध्यम से विविध पृष्ठभूमि के पेशेवर को नियामक प्रशिक्षण प्रदान करने के लिए एक ई-प्रमाणन कार्यक्रम 'बिजली क्षेत्र के लिए सुधार और नियामक ज्ञान आधार' लॉन्च किया।
• आर के सिंह ने एक नियामक डेटा डैशबोर्ड भी लॉन्च किया, जो आईआईटी कानपुर द्वारा विकसित टैरिफ और बिजली डिस्कॉम (वितरण कंपनियों) के प्रदर्शन के राज्य-वार विवरण वाले डेटा का एक ई-संग्रह है। डैशबोर्ड समय के साथ और बिजली क्षेत्र की उपयोगिताओं में क्षेत्र के प्रदर्शन को बेंचमार्क करने में सहायता करेगा।

 DRDO द्वारा रेंज प्रौद्योगिकी पर दूसरा IEEE अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन वस्तुतः आयोजित किया गया

• दूसरा इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ इलेक्ट्रिकल एंड इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स इंजीनियर्स (IEEE) इंटरनेशनल कॉन्फ्रेंस ऑन रेंज टेक्नोलॉजी (ICORT-2021) वस्तुतः आयोजित किया जा रहा है। सम्मेलन का आयोजन रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन की प्रयोगशाला, एकीकृत परीक्षण रेंज (ITR) चांदीपुर द्वारा किया गया है। इसका उद्घाटन रक्षा अनुसंधान एवं विकास विभाग के सचिव और डीआरडीओ के अध्यक्ष डॉ जी सतीश रेड्डी ने किया। यह आयोजन विश्‍व भर के वक्ताओं की मेजबानी करेगा, जो टेस्ट और रक्षा प्रणालियों के मूल्यांकन से संबंधित कई विषयों में अपनी तकनीकी उपलब्धियों को प्रस्तुत करेंगे।
• सम्मेलन सभी रेंज प्रौद्योगिकी उत्साही लोगों के लिए एक दूसरे के साथ बातचीत करने और प्रासंगिक क्षेत्रों में हाल के विकास के साथ अद्यतन रहने के लिए एक बहुत ही प्रभावी मंच होगा।
• संबंधित विषयों पर विशेषज्ञों द्वारा 250 से अधिक तकनीकी लेख प्रस्तुत किए गए, जिनमें से 122 लेखों का चयन एक विशेष तकनीकी समिति द्वारा किया गया है।

 भारत का पहला हार्ट फेल्योर बायोबैंक केरल में शुरू हुआ

• देश में पहला हार्ट फैल्यर बायोबैंक केरल के श्री चित्रा तिरुनल इंस्टीट्यूट फॉर मेडिकल साइंसेज एंड टेक्नोलॉजी (SCTIMST) में नेशनल सेंटर फॉर एडवांस्ड रिसर्च एंड एक्सीलेंस इन एचएफ (CARE-HF) में आया है। बायोबैंक हृदय की विफलता के रोगियों में स्वास्थ्य परिणामों के आनुवंशिक, चयापचय और प्रोटिओमिक्स मार्करों का अध्ययन करने के लिए खुला है।
• बायोबैंक उच्च गुणवत्ता वाले जैविक मानव नमूनों के संग्रह का एक महत्वपूर्ण संसाधन है जिसका उपयोग आणविक मार्गो को समझने और दिल की विफलता के निदान, निदान और उपचार में सुधार के लिए किया जा सकता है।

राष्ट्रीय हथकरघा दिवस 2021: 7 अगस्त

• भारत ने भारतीय हथकरघा उद्योग की विरासत को प्रदर्शित करने के लिए 7वें राष्ट्रीय हथकरघा दिवस को चिह्नित किया है। यह दिन स्वदेशी आंदोलन को मनाने और हमारे देश के समृद्ध कपड़े और रंगीन बुनाई का जश्न मनाने का दिन है। भारतीय हथकरघा उद्योग की विरासत को प्रदर्शित करने और देश भर के बुनकरों को सम्मानित करने के लिए पूरा देश इस दिन को चिह्नित करेगा। यह पहली बार 2015 में भारत सरकार द्वारा मनाया गया था।
• राष्ट्रीय हथकरघा दिवस देश के सामाजिक-आर्थिक विकास में हथकरघा के योगदान पर ध्यान केंद्रित करने और बुनकरों की आय बढ़ाने पर केंद्रित है।

SSFB ने लॉन्च किया 'हेल्थ एंड वेलनेस सेविंग्स अकाउंट'

• सूर्योदय स्मॉल फाइनेंस (SSFB) ने C-19 महामारी के बीच ग्राहकों को अपनी संपत्ति बढ़ाने और अपने परिवार के स्वास्थ्य की देखभाल करने में मदद करने के लिए एक 'सूर्योदय स्वास्थ्य और कल्याण बचत खाता' लॉन्च किया है। यह खाता आकर्षक ब्याज दर प्रदान करता है और चार सदस्यों के परिवार के लिए तीन प्रमुख लाभों के साथ आता है - रु 25 लाख का टॉप-अप स्वास्थ्य बीमा, वार्षिक स्वास्थ्य देखभाल पैकेज और ऑन-कॉल आपातकालीन एम्बुलेंस चिकित्सा देखभाल सेवाएं।
• खाता खोलने के बाद एक वर्ष के लिए टॉप-अप स्वास्थ्य बीमा और स्वास्थ्य देखभाल पैकेज निःशुल्क है। मार्च-अंत 2022 तक देश भर में 102 स्थानों पर 20 किमी की दूरी तक मुफ्त एम्बुलेंस सेवा उपलब्ध होगी। बचत खाता खोलने के लिए, ग्राहकों को रु 3 लाख का औसत मासिक बैलेंस बनाए रखना होगा और इसके लिए पात्र होना होगा प्रमुख स्वास्थ्य घोषणा पत्र के अनुसार।

Bhutan’s Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Project conferred Brunel Medal

• Bhutan’s India-assisted Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Project was conferred with the Brunel Medal awarded by the London-based Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). The award was given as a mark of excellence in civil engineering within the industry and was handed over by the Indian envoy to Bhutan Ruchira Kamboj to the Chairman of Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Project Authority, Lyonpo Loknath Sharma. One of the reasons the Mangdechhu project was awarded was because of its social and environmental credentials.
• The project will reduce 2.4 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions each year.
• Bhutan and India in the past have collectively resolved to increase the hydropower energy capacity of Bhutan to 12000 MW.

India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, Vikrant

• India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, Vikrant set sail to begin its first sea trial. INS Vikrant was designed by the Indian Navy’s Directorate of Naval Design (DND) and built at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL).
• This advanced warship is the first attempt by the two entities to build an aircraft carrier from the ground up. INS Vikrant has 75 per cent indigenous content and will be commissioned into the Eastern Naval Command. It will be commissioned into the Indian Navy by August 2022.

 Power Minister R K Singh launched e-certification programme

• Power Minister R K Singh has launched an e-certification programme, ‘reform and regulatory knowledge base for power sector’, to provide regulatory training. The Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy R K Singh launched ‘reform and regulatory knowledge base for power sector’, an e-certification programme to provide regulatory training to the practitioners from diverse backgrounds through virtual mode.
• R K Singh also launched a Regulatory Data Dashboard which is an e-compendium of data containing state-wise details of tariff and power discoms (distribution companies) performance, developed by IIT Kanpur. The Dashboard would assist in benchmarking the sector performance, over time and across the power sector utilities.

 Second IEEE International Conference on Range Technology by DRDO held virtually

• The 2nd Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) International Conference on Range Technology (ICORT-2021) is being held virtually. The conference has been organised by Integrated Test Range (ITR) Chandipur, a laboratory of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). It was inaugurated by Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO Dr G Satheesh Reddy. The event will host speakers from across the globe, who will present their technological achievements in multiple subjects related to Tests and Evaluation of defence systems.
• The conference will be a very effective platform for all the Range Technology enthusiasts to interact with each other and stay updated with recent developments in relevant fields.
• More than 250 technical articles were submitted by experts on the relevant subjects, out of which 122 articles have been selected by a specialised technical committee.

 India’s first Heart Failure Biobank starts in Kerala

• The first Heart Failure Biobank in the country has come up at the National Centre for Advanced Research and Excellence in HF (CARE-HF) at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Kerala. The Biobank is open to study genetic, metabolomics and proteomic markers of health outcomes in heart-failure patients.
• Biobanks are an important resource of collections of high-quality biological human samples that can be used to understand molecular pathways and to improve the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of heart failure.
• The biospecimens include blood, serum and tissue samples obtained during open-heart surgery and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and genomic DNA collected from heart-failure patients.

National Handloom Day 2021 : 7th August

• India has marked the 7th National Handloom Day to showcase the legacy of the Indian handloom industry. The day is to commemorate the Swadeshi Movement and to celebrate our country’s rich fabrics and colourful weaves. The whole nation will mark the day to showcase the legacy of the Indian handloom industry and to honour the weavers across the country. It was first observed in 2015 by the Govt of India.
• National Handloom Day seeks to focus on the contribution of handloom to the socio-economic development of the country and also increase the income of weavers.

SSFB launched ‘Health and Wellness Savings account

• Suryoday Small Finance Bank (SSFB) has launched a ‘Suryoday Health and Wellness Savings Account’ to help customers grow their wealth and also take care of their family’s health amid the C-19 pandemic. The account offers an attractive interest rate and comes with three major benefits for a family of four — top-up health insurance of ₹25 lakh, annual healthcare package and on-call emergency ambulance medical care services.
• Top-up health insurance and healthcare package are free of charge for one year after opening the account. Free ambulance service up to a distance of 20 km will be available at 102 locations across the country till March-end 2022. For opening the savings account, customers will need to maintain an average monthly balance of ₹3 lakh and have to be eligible as per the key health declaration form.
