अमेरिकी प्रौद्योगिकी कंपनी Yahoo Inc. ने चीन में अपनी सेवाएं बंद की

• याहू इंक (Yahoo Inc.) ने घोषणा की है कि कंपनी ने देश में तेजी से चुनौतीपूर्ण व्यापार और कानूनी माहौल के कारण 01 नवंबर, 2021 से मुख्य भूमि चीन में सेवा प्रदान करना बंद कर दिया है। इसके साथ याहू ने चीनी बाजार में अपनी 22 वर्ष की उपस्थिति समाप्त कर दी है।
• इसका मतलब यह है कि Yahoo Weather, Yahoo Finance और Yahoo द्वारा चलाई जाने वाली अन्य वेबसाइट जैसे AOL.com, TechCrunch और Engadget जैसी सेवाएं चीन के भीतर से उपलब्ध नहीं होंगी। इससे पहले, यूएस टेक प्लेटफॉर्म लिंक्डइन ने भी 14 अक्टूबर को चीन में अपने स्थानीय सोशल मीडिया नेटवर्क को बंद करने की घोषणा की थी।

वित्त वर्ष 2022 में भारत की जीडीपी 10-10.5% बढ़ने की संभावना: ब्रिकवर्क रेटिंग

• घरेलू क्रेडिट रेटिंग एजेंसी ब्रिकवर्क रेटिंग्स ने चालू वित्त वर्ष यानी 2021-22 (वित्त वर्ष 22) में भारत का सकल घरेलू उत्पाद (जीडीपी) 10-10.5 प्रतिशत रहने का अनुमान लगाया है। पहले यह 9 फीसदी रहने का अनुमान था।
• ब्रिकवर्क रेटिंग एक सेबी पंजीकृत क्रेडिट रेटिंग एजेंसी है जिसका मुख्यालय बेंगलुरु में है। यह Q2FY21 में 7.4 प्रतिशत संकुचन के पीछे Q2 FY22 के लिए जीडीपी वृद्धि 8.3 प्रतिशत (वर्ष-दर-वर्ष) होने की उम्मीद की है। वित्त वर्ष 2022 की पहली तिमाही में देश की जीडीपी 20.1 फीसदी की दर से बढ़ी।

400 टी20 विकेट लेने वाले सबसे कम उम्र के गेंदबाज बने राशिद खान, एलीट लिस्ट में ड्वेन ब्रावो, सुनील नारायण के साथ शामिल

• अफगानिस्तान के लेग स्पिनर राशिद खान दुबई में न्यूजीलैंड के खिलाफ अपनी टीम के महत्वपूर्ण सुपर 12 मुकाबले के दौरान 400 टी 20 विकेट लेने वाले सबसे कम उम्र के गेंदबाज बन गए। मार्टिन गप्टिल टी20 क्रिकेट में राशिद के 400वें शिकार बने। राशिद क्रिकेटरों की एक विशिष्ट सूची में शामिल हो गए क्योंकि उन्होंने न्यूजीलैंड बनाम अफगानिस्तान टी 20 विश्व कप खेल में अपना 400 वां विकेट लिया। वह ड्वेन ब्रावो (553), सुनील नरेन (425) और इमरान ताहिर (420) के बाद 400 क्लब में प्रवेश करने वाले चौथे गेंदबाज हैं।

• टेबल टेनिस में, भारतीय जोड़ी मनिका बत्रा और अर्चना गिरीश कामथ ने स्लोवेनिया के लास्को में WTT कंटेंडर टूर्नामेंट में महिला युगल खिताब जीता। भारतीय जोड़ी ने मेलानी डियाज़ और एड्रियाना डियाज़ की प्यूर्टो रिकान टीम को 11-3, 11-8, 12-10 से हराकर खिताब अपने नाम किया। इस बीच, चीन की वांग यिडी ने मनिका बत्रा को 2-4 (11-7, 7-11, 13-11, 10-12, 11-7, 11-5) से हराया जिसके चलते उन्हें महिला एकल खिताब में कांस्य पदक से संतोष करना पड़ा।

रेड बुल रेसिंग के मैक्स वेरस्टैपेन ने 2021 फॉर्मूला वन वर्ल्ड चैंपियनशिप में अपनी बढ़त बढ़ाई

• मैक्स वर्स्टापेन (रेड बुल - नीदरलैंड) ने मेक्सिको सिटी के ऑटोड्रोमो हरमनोस रोड्रिग्ज में आयोजित 2021 मेक्सिको सिटी ग्रांड प्रिक्स जीता है। सात बार के विश्व चैंपियन लुईस हैमिल्टन (मर्सिडीज-ग्रेट ब्रिटेन) दूसरे स्थान पर रहे जबकि सर्जियो पेरेज़ (मेक्सिको- रेड बुल) तीसरे स्थान पर रहे। पेरेज़ एक जुबिलेंट ऑटोड्रोमो हरमनोस रोड्रिगेज में अपने घरेलू पोडियम पर खड़े होने वाले पहले मैक्सिकन बन गए।

QS वर्ल्ड यूनिवर्सिटी रैंकिंग 2022

• QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) ने 2022 QS वर्ल्ड यूनिवर्सिटी रैंकिंग जारी की है। रैंकिंग में नेशनल यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ़ सिंगापुर (NUS) ने लगातार चौथे वर्ष शीर्ष स्थान हासिल किया है। इसके बाद चीन की पेकिंग यूनिवर्सिटी दूसरे स्थान पर और सिंगापुर में नानयांग प्रौद्योगिकी यूनिवर्सिटी और हांगकांग में हांगकांग विश्वविद्यालय तीसरे स्थान पर है।
• भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान बॉम्बे (IITB) (क्षेत्रीय रूप से 42वां) और IIT दिल्ली (क्षेत्रीय रूप से 45वां) शीर्ष-50 में केवल दो भारतीय संस्थान हैं। IIT मद्रास, जो पिछले वर्ष 50वें स्थान पर था, चार स्थान खोकर अब 54वें स्थान पर है। भारत में 126 विश्वविद्यालयों के साथ चीन के बाद 118 भारतीय विश्वविद्यालय हैं।

एसबीआई ने पेंशनभोगियों के लिए 'वीडियो लाइफ सर्टिफिकेट' सुविधा शुरू की

• भारतीय स्टेट बैंक ने पेंशनभोगियों के लिए वीडियो जीवन प्रमाणपत्र सेवा शुरू की है। यह नई सुविधा पेंशनभोगियों को अपने घरों से वीडियो के माध्यम से अपना जीवन प्रमाण पत्र जमा करने की अनुमति देगी। यह सुविधा पेंशनभोगियों (पारिवारिक पेंशनभोगियों के अलावा) के लिए उपलब्ध है। इस प्रकार, सरकार से पेंशन प्राप्त करने वाले पेंशनभोगी की पत्नी इस सुविधा का उपयोग नहीं कर पाएगी।
• एसबीआई के अनुसार, वीडियो लाइफ सर्टिफिकेट की प्रक्रिया पेपरलेस और मुफ्त है।
• पेंशनभोगियों और पारिवारिक पेंशनभोगियों के लिए यह जरूरी है कि वे अपनी पेंशन निलंबित होने से बचाने के लिए प्रतिवर्ष 30 नवंबर से पहले अपना जीवन प्रमाण पत्र जमा करें।

American technology company Yahoo Inc. stops its services in China

• Yahoo Inc. has announced that the company has stopped providing service in mainland China with effect from November 01, 2021, due to the increasingly challenging business and legal environment in the country. With this Yahoo has ended its 22-year presence in the Chinese market.
• This means that services like Yahoo Weather, Yahoo Finance, and other websites run by Yahoo such as AOL.com, TechCrunch and Engadget will not be accessible from within China. Earlier, US tech platform LinkedIn also announced the closure of its localized social media network in China on October 14.

India's GDP likely to grow at 10-10.5% in FY2022: Brickwork Ratings

• Domestic credit rating agency Brickwork Ratings has estimated the gross domestic product (GDP) of India at 10-10.5 per cent in the current financial year, i.e. in 2021-22 (FY22). Earlier this was estimated at 9 per cent.
• Brickwork Ratings is a SEBI registered Credit Rating Agency with headquarter in Bengaluru. It expects the GDP growth for Q2 FY22 to be at 8.3 per cent (year-on-year), on the back of a 7.4 per cent contraction in Q2FY21. The country’s GDP grew at 20.1 per cent in the first quarter of fiscal 2022.

Rashid Khan Becomes Youngest Bowler to Take 400 T20 Wickets, Joins Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine in Elite List

• Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan became the youngest bowler to take 400 T20 wickets during his team’s crucial Super 12 encounter against New Zealand in Dubai. Martin Guptill became Rashid’s 400th victim in T20 cricket. Rashid joined an elite list of cricketers as he picked up his 400th wicket in ongoing New Zealand vs Afghanistan T20 World Cup game. He is the 4th bowler to enter the 400 club after Dwayne Bravo (553), Sunil Narine (425) and Imran Tahir (420).
• Earlier, Rashid had become the fastest bowler to register 100 dismissals in Twenty20 Internationals during a T20 World Cup 2021 match against Pakistan. Rashid has 103 wickets for Afghanistan and 93 scalps for Sunrisers Hyderabad while the rest have come for the teams he plays for in different T20 tournaments around the world.

WTT Contender Lasko: Manika Batra, Archana Kamath Clinch Doubles Title

• In Table Tennis, Indian duo Manika Batra and Archana Girish Kamath clinched the women’s doubles title in the WTT Contender tournament in Lasko, Slovenia. The Indian pair defeated the Puerto Rican team of Melanie Diaz and Adriana Diaz, 11-3, 11-8, 12-10 to win the title. Meanwhile, Manika Batra also claimed a bronze medal in the women’s singles title after Wang Yidi of China defeated her by 2-4 (11-7, 7-11, 13-11, 10-12, 11-7, 11-5).

Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen extended his lead in the 2021 Formula One World Championship

• Max Verstappen (Red Bull – Netherlands) has won the 2021 Mexico City Grand Prix held at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City. Seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes-Great Britain) stood second while Sergio Perez (Mexico- Red Bull) came third. Perez became the first Mexican to stand on his home podium at a jubilant Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

2022 QS World University Rankings

• QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) has released the 2022 QS World University Rankings. The ranking has been topped by the National University of Singapore (NUS) for the 4th year in a row. It is followed by China’s Peking University at 2nd position and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and the University of Hong Kong in Hong Kong at 3rd.
• Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) (42nd regionally) and IIT Delhi (45th regionally) are the only two Indian institutions among the Top-50. IIT Madras, which was in 50th place last year, has lost four places and now ranks 54th. India features 118 Indian Universities following China with 126 universities.

SBI launches ‘Video Life Certificate’ facility for pensioners

• The State Bank of India has launched a video life certificate service for pensioners. This new facility will allow pensioners to submit their life certificates via video from their homes. This facility is available for pensioners (other than family pensioners). Thus, the spouse of the pensioner receiving a pension from the government will not be able to use this facility.
• As per SBI, the process of video life certificate is paperless and free of cost.
• It is important for pensioners and family pensioners to submit their life certificates before November 30 every year to avoid their pensions getting suspended.
