Pixxel इसरो के रॉकेट से लॉन्च करेगा रिमोट सेंसिंग उपग्रह

• बेंगलुरु स्थित स्पेस-टेक्नोलॉजी स्टार्ट-अप "Pixxel" ने भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (ISRO) के साथ एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं, जिसके तहत "Pixxel" वर्ष 2021 की शुरुआत में इसरो के वर्कहॉर्स पोलर सैटेलाइट लॉन्च व्हीकल (PSLV) रॉकेट से अपना पहला रिमोट-सेंसिंग सैटेलाइट लॉन्च करेगा। इससे पहले, स्टार्टअप ने इस उपग्रह को 2020 के अंत में और एक रूसी सोयुज रॉकेट पर लॉन्च करने की योजना बनाई थी।
• Pixxel का लक्ष्य 2023 के मध्य तक 30 पृथ्वी अवलोकन सूक्ष्म उपग्रहों के एक तारामंडल को सूर्य-तुल्यकालिक कक्षा में स्थापित करना है। इन उपग्रहों के जरिए मिलने वाला डेटा विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में मदद करेगा, जिसमें कृषि से लेकर शहरी निगरानी जैसे वायु और जल प्रदूषण स्तर, वन जैव विविधता और स्वास्थ्य, तटीय और समुद्री स्वास्थ्य, और शहरी परिदृश्य में परिवर्तन जैसे क्षेत्र शामिल हैं।
• यह समझौता अंतरिक्ष विभाग के तहत भारत सरकार की कंपनी न्यूस्पेस इंडिया लिमिटेड (NSIL) और Pixxel के बीच हुआ है।
• NSIL के साथ यह समझौता पहला निजी पृथ्वी-अवलोकन मिशन है और IN-SPACe की स्थापना के बाद से पहला, अंतरिक्ष विभाग (DoS) के तहत प्राधिकरण और नियामक निकाय है जो निजी हितधारकों को भारत में अंतरिक्ष गतिविधियाँ में संलग्न करेगा।

न्यूजीलैंड के ऑलराउंडर कोरी एंडरसन ने की रिटायरमेंट की घोषणा

• न्यूजीलैंड के आलराउंडर खिलाड़ी कोरी एंडरसन (Corey Anderson) ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट से संन्यास की घोषणा कर दी है। एंडरसन ने न्यूजीलैंड के लिए 13 टेस्ट, 49 वनडे और 31 T20I खेले हैं, जिसमें दो शतक, 10 अर्धशतक और 90 विकेट के साथ कुल 2277 रन बनाए हैं।
• एंडरसन ने अमेरिका की मेजर लीग क्रिकेट (MLC) के साथ 3 साल के अनुबंध पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं, जहां वह मेजर और माइनर लीग क्रिकेट में काम करेंगे और MLC के तहत आने वाली क्रिकेट अकादमियों में कोचिंग देंगे।
• एंडरसन जनवरी 2014 में वेस्टइंडीज के खिलाफ एकदिवसीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट (ODI) के इतिहास में 36 गेंदों में सबसे तेज 100 रन बनाने के बाद लोकप्रिय हुए थे। हालांकि, जनवरी 2015 में इस रिकॉर्ड को एबी डिविलियर्स ने वेस्टइंडीज के खिलाफ जोहान्सबर्ग में 31 गेंदों में शतक लगाके तोड़ दिया था।

दिग्गज मराठी अभिनेता रवि पटवर्धन का निधन

• मराठी फिल्म उद्योग का लोकप्रिय चेहरा रवि पटवर्धन का निधन हो गया। दिग्गज अभिनेता मराठी टीवी श्रृंखला अगाबाई ससुबाई में अपनी भूमिका के लिए मराठी फिल्म जगत में बहुत बड़ा नाम बन गया।
• इसके अलावा, पटवर्धन ने कई हिंदी फ़िल्मों जैसे कि तेज़ाब, झांझर, बंधन और यशवंत में भी अभिनय किया था।

 दिग्गज बंगाली अभिनेता मनु मुखर्जी का निधन

• जाने-माने बंगाली अभिनेता मनु मुखर्जी का निधन। उन्होंने अपने फ़िल्मी करियर की शुरुआत मृणाल सेन की निल आकाशेर नीचे (1958) से की थी।
• अभिनेता को सत्यजीत रे की जॉय बाबा फेलुनाथ और गणशत्रु में उनकी भूमिकाओं के लिए याद किया जाता है। वह बच्चों की काल्पनिक फिल्म पातालघर का भी हिस्सा रहे थे।

सशस्त्र सेना झंडा दिवस: 7 दिसंबर

• भारत में वर्ष 1949 से प्रति वर्ष 7 दिसंबर को देश को सुरक्षित रखने के लिए सीमाओं पर लड़ने वाले देश के सैनिकों, नाविकों और वायु सैनिकों के सम्मान में सशस्त्र सेना झंडा दिवस (जिसे भारतीय झंडा दिवस के रूप में भी जाना जाता है) के रूप में मनाया जाता है।
• भारत की सशस्त्र सेना की तीनों शाखाएँ, अर्थात्, भारतीय सेना, भारतीय वायु सेना और भारतीय नौसेना को इस दिन याद किया जाता है। भूतपूर्व सैनिकों (Ex-Servicemen) के कल्याण और पुनर्वास के लिए भारत सरकार द्वारा सशस्त्र सेना झंडा दिवस कोष (Armed forces Flag Day Fund) का बनाया गया है।

 इंटरनेशनल सिविल एविएशन डे: 07 दिसंबर

• International Civil Aviation Day: प्रति वर्ष 7 दिसंबर को दुनिया भर में सामाजिक और आर्थिक विकास के लिए विमानन के महत्व को चिन्हित करने के लिए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय नागरिक विमानन दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय नागरिक उड्डयन दिवस का उद्देश्य देशों के सामाजिक और आर्थिक विकास के लिए अंतरराष्ट्रीय नागरिक उड्डयन के महत्व के बारे में दुनिया भर में जागरूकता पैदा करने और सुदृढ़ करने में मदद करना है, और वास्तव में वैश्विक तेजी से पारगमन में सभी मानव जाति की सेवा में नेटवर्क सहयोग करने और महसूस करने में राज्यों की मदद करने में आईसीएओ की अनूठी भूमिका को चिन्हित करना है।
• परिषद ने फैसला किया है कि अब से 2023 तक का विषय रहेगा:“Advancing Innovation for Global Aviation Development”.
• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय नागरिक उड्डयन संगठन (ICAO) की स्थापना की 50 वीं वर्षगांठ को चिन्हित करने के लिए 1994 में इस दिन मनाने की शुरुआत की गई थी। संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने 1996 में इस दिन की घोषणा की थी।

 सम्‍मेलन एवं समझौते

बांग्लादेश ने पहले व्यापार सहयोग समझौते (PTA) पर किए हस्ताक्षर

• बांग्लादेश ने भूटान के साथ अपने पहले व्यापार सहयोग समझौते (PTA) पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं, जो दोनों देशों के बीच एक सीमा तक माल की ड्यूटी-फ्री पहुंच को सक्षम बनाएगा और इस तरह दोनों देशों के बीच द्विपक्षीय व्यापार को बढ़ावा मिलेगा। PTA के तहत, 100 बांग्लादेशी उत्पादों को भूटान में ड्यूटी फ्री एक्सेस मिलेगा, जबकि भूटान की 34 वस्तुओं को बांग्लादेश में ड्यूटी फ्री एक्सेस मिलेगा। इस सूची में आगे चलकर ओर अधिक वस्तुओं को बाद में दोनों देशों के बीच चर्चा के आधार पर जोड़ा जा सकता है।
• वर्ष 1971 में स्वतंत्रता के बाद से दुनिया के किसी भी देश के साथ बांग्लादेश द्वारा हस्ताक्षरित यह पहला पीटीए है। बांग्लादेश और भूटान के बीच राजनयिक संबंधों की 50 वीं वर्षगांठ के अवसर पर 6 दिसंबर 2020 को पीटीए पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए थे। 1971 में, बांग्लादेश को स्वतंत्र देश के रूप में मान्यता देने वाला भूटान दुनिया का पहला देश था।

Pixxel to launch remote-sensing satellite on ISRO rocket

• The Bengaluru-based space-technology start-up “Pixxel”, has signed a pact with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to launch its first remote-sensing satellite on Isro’s workhorse Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rocket in early 2021. Earlier, the startup had planned to launch this satellite towards the end of 2020 and on a Russian Soyuz rocket.
• Pixxel aims to put a constellation of 30 earth observation micro-satellites into a sun-synchronous orbit by mid-2023. The data through these satellites will help in various sectors, ranging from agriculture to urban monitoring, such as track on air and water pollution levels, forest biodiversity and health, coastal and marine health, and changes in the urban landscape.
• The agreement was signed between Pixxel with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), a Government of India company under the Department of Space.
• This agreement with NSIL is the first-of-a-kind private earth-observation mission and one of the first since the setting up of IN-SPACe, the authorisation and regulatory body under the Department of Space (DoS) to enable private players undertaking space activities in India.

New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson retires from all forms of Cricket

• New Zealand all-rounder, Corey Anderson has announced his retirement from international cricket. Anderson has played 13 Tests, 49 ODIs and 31 T20Is for New Zealand, scoring 2277 runs with two hundred and 10 half-centuries and 90 wickets.
• Anderson has signed a 3-year contract with Major League Cricket (MLC) in the USA, where he will serve in the Major and Minor League Cricket and coaching ventures at the cricket academies that come under the MLC.
• Anderson rose to fame after scoring fastest 100 in the history of One Day International cricket (ODI), in 36-ball against West Indies in January 2014. However, this record was broken by AB de Villiers, in January 2015 who scored the fastest ODI century against the West Indies in Johannesburg in 31 balls.

Veteran Marathi actor Ravi Patwardhan passes away

• Ravi Patwardhan, a popular face in Marathi entertainment industry, has passed away. The veteran actor became a household name for his role in Marathi TV series Agabai Sasubai.
• Apart from this, Patwardhan has also starred in a few Hindi movies namely Tezab, Jhanjaar, Bond and Yeshwant.

 Veteran Bengali actor Manu Mukherjee passes away

• Veteran Bengali actor Manu Mukherjee passed away. He started his film career with Mrinal Sen’s Nil Akasher Niche (1958).
• The actor is best remembered for his roles in Satyajit Ray’s Joy Baba Felunath and Ganashatru. He had also been part of children’s fantasy film Patalghar’.

Armed Forces Flag Day: 7 December

• In India, the Armed Forces Flag Day (also known as the Flag Day of India) is observed annually on December 7 since 1949 as an honour to the soldiers, sailors and airmen of India who fought on the borders to keep the country safe.
• The three branches of the Armed Forces of India, namely, the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy are remembered on this day. The ‘Armed forces Flag Day Fund’ (AFFDF) has been constituted by the Government of India for the welfare and rehabilitation of the Ex-Servicemen (ESM) community.

 International Civil Aviation Day: 07 December

• The International Civil Aviation Day is celebrated every year on December 7 to recognize the importance of aviation to the social and economic development of the world. The purpose of International Civil Aviation Day is to help generate and reinforce worldwide awareness of the importance of international civil aviation to the social and economic development of States, and of the unique role of ICAO in helping States to cooperate and realize a truly global rapid transit network at the service of all mankind.
• The Council has decided that from now until 2023, the theme will be: “Advancing Innovation for Global Aviation Development”.
• The Day was established in 1994 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the day in 1996.

Bangladesh signs maiden Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA)

• Bangladesh has signed its first Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) with Bhutan, which will allow duty-free access to a range of goods between the two countries and hence boost bilateral trade between them. Under the PTA, 100 Bangladeshi products will get duty free access to Bhutan, while 34 items from Bhutan will get duty free access into Bangladesh. Further items can be added in the list later on the basis of discussion between the two countries.
• This is the first PTA signed by Bangladesh with any country in the world since its independence in 1971. The PTA was signed on 6th December 2020, to mark 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Bhutan. In 1971, Bhutan was the first country in the world to recognise Bangladesh as an independent country.
