Google ने $500 मिलियन में इज़राइली सुरक्षा स्टार्टअप सिएम्प्लीफाई को खरीदा

• अल्फाबेट इंक के स्वामित्व वाली, गूगल ने $ 500 मिलियन के सौदे में इजरायली साइबर सुरक्षा स्टार्टअप सिम्प्लीफाई का अधिग्रहण किया है। बढ़ते साइबर हमलों के बीच यह अधिग्रहण देश में अमेरिकी टेक दिग्गज की सुरक्षा पेशकशों का विस्तार करेगा। सिम्प्लीफाई को गूगल क्लाउड के क्रॉनिकल ऑपरेशन में एकीकृत किया जाएगा। गूगल क्लाउड की सुरक्षा टीम के एक हिस्से के रूप में, सिम्प्लीफाई कंपनियों को उनके खतरे की प्रतिक्रिया को बेहतर ढंग से प्रबंधित करने में मदद करेगा।
• यह खरीदारी गूगल द्वारा एक इज़राइली कंपनी के चौथे अधिग्रहण को चिह्नित करती है और अमेरिका के बाहर साइबर सुरक्षा उद्योग में इसका पहला अधिग्रहण है।
• सिम्प्लीफाई की स्थापना 2015 में अमोस स्टर्न (सीईओ), एलोन कोहेन (सीटीओ) और गैरी फताखोव (सीओओ) द्वारा की गई थी। इसके तेल अवीव में कार्यालय और न्यूयॉर्क में मुख्यालय हैं।
• सिम्प्लीफाई उद्यमों के लिए एंड-टू-एंड सुरक्षा सेवाओं में माहिर हैं, जिन्हें आमतौर पर सुरक्षा ऑर्केस्ट्रेशन, ऑटोमेशन और प्रतिक्रिया (SOAR) सेवाओं के रूप में संदर्भित किया जाता है।

गंजम बाल-विवाह मुक्त घोषित, यह सम्मान अर्जित करने वाला ओडिशा का पहला जिला बना

• ओडिशा के गंजम ने खुद को बाल विवाह मुक्त जिला घोषित किया है, जो राज्य में पहला है। जिला प्रशासन दो वर्ष - 2020 और 2021 में 450 बाल विवाह और वीडियो-रिकॉर्ड 48,383 विवाहों को रोकने में सक्षम है। सत्यापन के बाद गंजम प्रशासन ने इसे बाल विवाह मुक्त जिला घोषित कर दिया। सरपंचों और टास्क फोर्स कमेटी के सदस्यों ने सिफारिशें भेजी थीं कि उनके अपने क्षेत्रों में कोई बाल विवाह नहीं हुआ है।
• गंजम ने एक कार्यक्रम निर्भया कढ़ी (निर्भय कली) शुरू किया था। सभी शैक्षणिक संस्थानों के प्रमुखों को निर्देश दिया गया है कि अगर 12 से 18 वर्ष की उम्र की कोई लड़की पांच दिनों तक स्कूल से अनुपस्थित रहती है तो प्रशासन को इसकी सूचना दें। पिछले दो वर्षों में कम से कम एक लाख किशोरों की काउंसलिंग हुई है। प्रशासन ने किसी भी विवाह के लिए आधार कार्ड को अनिवार्य रूप से प्रस्तुत करना भी अनिवार्य कर दिया है।

आयुष मंत्री सर्बानंद सोनोवाल ने हार्टफुलनेस इंटरनेशनल योग अकादमी की आधारशिला रखी

• केंद्रीय आयुष मंत्री, सर्बानंद सोनोवाल ने हैदराबाद, तेलंगाना में हार्टफुलनेस इंटरनेशनल योग अकादमी की आधारशिला रखी है। उन्होंने आजादी का अमृत महोत्सव के हिस्से के रूप में 75 करोड़ सूर्यनमस्कार पहल भी शुरू की। अकादमी प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रमों के माध्यम से समाज के सभी स्तरों तक पहुंचने का प्रयास करती है और इनकी देखरेख एक अंतर्राष्ट्रीय टीम द्वारा की जाएगी।
• इस अकादमी में परामर्श के लिए चिकित्सीय योग कक्ष हैं, एक से एक प्रशिक्षण स्थान या छोटे समूह वर्ग; प्रसव पूर्व योग कक्ष; 200 बैठक क्षमता वाला एक व्याख्यान कक्ष; पूर्व-रिकॉर्ड किए गए कल्याण कार्यक्रमों के लिए संपादन सूट के साथ एक पूर्ण रिकॉर्डिंग स्टूडियो; लाइव ऑनलाइन योग कक्षाओं के लिए पूरी तरह से सुसज्जित एक रिकॉर्डिंग योग हॉल; प्रत्येक योग संस्थानों की पुस्तकों के साथ एक योग पुस्तकालय और योग अनुसंधान लेखों तक पहुंच।

 हिमाचल बना देश का पहला धूम्रपान मुक्त राज्य

• हिमाचल प्रदेश पहला एलपीजी सक्षम राज्य बन गया, साथ ही, धूम्रपान मुक्त राज्य भी। यह मील का पत्थर उज्ज्वला योजना और केंद्र द्वारा गृहिणी सुविधा योजना के कारण हासिल किया गया था। सरकार ने धुंए से निजात पाने के लिए उज्ज्वला योजना शुरू की थी। ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों की महिलाओं की सहायता के लिए गृहिणी सुविधा योजना शुरू की गई थी।
• देश की महिलाओं को घर के अंदर होने वाले प्रदूषण से मुक्त करने के उद्देश्य से केंद्र सरकार द्वारा उज्ज्वला योजना शुरू की गई थी। इसके साथ ही हिमाचल सरकार ने योजना के तहत अधिक से अधिक महिलाओं को लाभान्वित करने के लिए गृहिणी सुविधा योजना भी शुरू की।
• उज्जवला योजना के तहत रु. हिमाचल में 21.81 करोड़ 1.36 लाख मुफ्त घरेलू कनेक्शन दिए गए, जबकि हिमाचल सरकार की गृहिणी सुविधा योजना के तहत 3.23 लाख गृहिणियों को 120 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से मुफ्त गैस सिलेंडर प्रदान किए गए।

पूर्व अमेरिकी राजनयिक अतुल केशप बने यूएस-इंडिया बिजनेस काउंसिल के प्रमुख

• भारतीय मूल के अमेरिकी राजनयिक अतुल केशप को यूएस चैंबर्स ऑफ कॉमर्स द्वारा यूएस-इंडिया बिजनेस काउंसिल (USIBC) का अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया गया है। उनका कार्यकाल 05 जनवरी, 2022 से प्रभावी है। यूएस चैंबर्स ऑफ कॉमर्स यूएसआईबीसी का मूल निकाय है। अतुल केशप निशा देसाई बिस्वाल की जगह लेंगे।
• इससे पहले, केशप ने दिल्ली में भारत में संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के चार्जेड अफेयर्स के रूप में सेवा की, अमेरिकी दूतावास टीम का नेतृत्व किया। USIBC संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका, भारत और इंडो-पैसिफिक में सक्रिय शीर्ष वैश्विक कंपनियों का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है।

आरबीआई ने अजय कुमार चौधरी और दीपक कुमार को नए कार्यकारी निदेशक के रूप में नियुक्त किया

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) ने 03 जनवरी से दीपक कुमार और अजय कुमार चौधरी को नए कार्यकारी निदेशक (ED) के रूप में नियुक्त किया है। ईडी के रूप में पदोन्नत होने से पहले, दीपक कुमार आरबीआई के सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी विभाग का नेतृत्व कर रहे थे, जबकि अजय चौधरी पर्यवेक्षण विभाग के प्रभारी मुख्य महाप्रबंधक थे।
• कुमार ने सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी, साइबर सुरक्षा, भुगतान प्रणाली, मुद्रा प्रबंधन, मानव संसाधन प्रबंधन, बैंकिंग पर्यवेक्षण, विदेशी मुद्रा प्रबंधन के क्षेत्रों में नीति निर्माण और परियोजना प्रबंधन कार्यों को कवर करते हुए आरबीआई के केंद्रीय कार्यालय विभागों में तीन दशकों से अधिक समय तक काम किया है।
• इस बीच, चौधरी ने तीन दशकों की अवधि में, पर्यवेक्षण, विनियमन, मुद्रा प्रबंधन, भुगतान और निपटान, और रिज़र्व बैंक के अन्य क्षेत्रों में, इसके केंद्रीय कार्यालय के साथ-साथ क्षेत्रीय कार्यालयों में भी कार्य किया है। वह फिनटेक विभाग, जोखिम निगरानी विभाग और निरीक्षण विभाग देखेंगे।

पद्मश्री सिंधुताई सपकाल का 73 वर्ष की आयु में निधन

• सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता सिंधुताई सपकाल, जिन्हें 'अनाथों की माँ' कहा जाता था, का 73 वर्ष की आयु में निधन हो गया। उन्हें केवल 'सिंधुताई' या 'माई' के रूप में भी जाना जाता था। उन्हें 2021 में सामाजिक कार्य श्रेणी में पद्म श्री से सम्मानित किया गया था। इसके अलावा उन्हें अपने जीवनकाल में 750 से अधिक पुरस्कार और सम्मान मिले थे। उन्‍होने करीब 2,000 अनाथों को गोद लिया और इससे भी ज्यादा की वह दादी हैं। वह महाराष्ट्र की रहने वाली थीं। उनके जीवन पर एक बायोपिक "मी सिंधुताई सपकाल" वर्ष 2010 में रिलीज़ हुई थी।

 वयोवृद्ध वाइस एडमिरल एसएच सरमा का 100 वर्ष की आयु में निधन

• भारतीय नौसेना के 1971 के भारत-पाक युद्ध के वयोवृद्ध वाइस एडमिरल एस.एच. सरमा का 100 वर्ष की उम्र में निधन हो गया है। वह 1971 के युद्ध के दौरान पूर्वी बेड़े के फ्लैग ऑफिसर कमांडिंग थे। 1971 के युद्ध में भारत ने पाकिस्तान को हरा दिया था, जिससे बांग्लादेश का निर्माण हुआ था। वाइस एडमिरल सरमा ने पिछले वर्ष 1 दिसंबर को अपना 100वां जन्मदिन मनाया था। उन्होंने हाल ही में दिल्ली में आजादी का अमृत महोत्सव समारोह में भी भाग लिया।
• सरमा 1971 के युद्ध के दौरान पूर्वी बेड़े के फ्लैग ऑफिसर कमांडिंग थे। 1971 के युद्ध में भारत ने पाकिस्तान को हरा दिया था, जिससे बांग्लादेश का निर्माण हुआ था।

विश्व युद्ध अनाथ दिवस 2022: 6 जनवरी

• संघर्ष के कारण अपने माता-पिता को खो चुके बच्चों की दुर्दशा के बारे में जागरूकता पैदा करने के लिए 6 जनवरी को विश्व युद्ध अनाथ दिवस मनाया जाता है। किसी भी संघर्ष में, बच्चे मौजूद सबसे वंचित और कमजोर समूहों में से एक होते हैं। जो बच्चे गोलीबारी में घायल हो गए हैं या अपने परिवारों से अलग हो गए हैं, उन्हें युद्ध के मानसिक घावों को ठीक करने, स्कूल शुरू करने और सामान्य जीवन को फिर से शुरू करने के लिए विशेष देखभाल की आवश्यकता होती है।
• विश्व युद्ध अनाथ दिवस की शुरुआत फ्रांसीसी संगठन SOS Enfants en Detresses द्वारा की गई थी, जिसका उद्देश्य संघर्ष से प्रभावित बच्चों की मदद करना था। संयुक्त राष्ट्र बाल कोष (यूनिसेफ) के अनुसार, एक अनाथ को "18 वर्ष से कम उम्र के बच्चे के रूप में परिभाषित किया गया है, जिसने मृत्यु के किसी भी कारण से एक या दोनों माता-पिता को खो दिया है"।

एयरटेल पेमेंट्स बैंक को आरबीआई से अनुसूचित बैंक के रूप में कार्य करने की अनुमति मिली

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक अधिनियम, 1934 की दूसरी अनुसूची में भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) द्वारा एयरटेल पेमेंट्स बैंक को एक अनुसूचित बैंक के रूप में वर्गीकृत किया गया है। इसके साथ ही एयरटेल पेमेंट्स बैंक अब सरकार की पैरवी कर सकता है। एयरटेल पेमेंट्स बैंक 115 मिलियन उपयोगकर्ताओं के आधार के साथ देश में सबसे तेजी से बढ़ते डिजिटल बैंकों में से एक है। यह एयरटेल थैंक्स ऐप और 500,000 से अधिक पड़ोस बैंकिंग बिंदुओं के खुदरा नेटवर्क के माध्यम से डिजिटल समाधानों का एक सूट प्रदान करता है। सितंबर 2021 को समाप्त तिमाही में बैंक मुनाफे में आया।

Google buys Israeli security startup Siemplify for $500 million

• Alphabet Inc-owned, Google has acquired Israeli cybersecurity startup Siemplify, in a deal worth $500 million. This acquisition will expand the U.S. tech giant’s security offerings in the country amid rising cyber-attacks. Siemplify will be integrated into Google Cloud’s Chronicle operation. As a part of Google Cloud’s security team, Siemplify will help companies better manage their threat response.
• This purchase marks the fourth acquisition of an Israeli company by Google and its first in the cybersecurity industry outside the US.
• Siemplify was founded in 2015 by Amos Stern (CEO), Alon Cohen (CTO) and Garry Fatakhov (COO). It has offices in Tel Aviv and headquarters in New York.
• Siemplify specializes in end-to-end security services for enterprises, typically referred to as security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR) services.

Ganjam declared child-marriage-free, becomes Odisha’s first district to earn the distinction

• Odisha’s Ganjam has declared itself a child marriage free district, the first in the State. The district administration has been able to stop as many as 450 child marriages and video-record 48,383 marriages in two years — 2020 and 2021. After verification, the Ganjam administration declared it a child marriage free district. Sarpanchs and task force committee members had sent recommendations that no child marriage had taken place in their respective areas.
• Ganjam had started a programme Nirbhaya Kadhi (Fearless bud). All heads of educational institutes were directed to inform the administration if any girl aged between 12 and 18 remained absent from school for five days. As many as one lakh teenagers have undergone counselling in the past two years. The administration also made the production of Aadhaar cards mandatory for any marriages to take place.

Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal lays foundation stone for Heartfulness International Yoga academy

• Union Ayush Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal has laid the foundation stone of the Heartfulness International Yoga Academy in Hyderabad, Telangana. He also launched 75 crores suryanamaskar initiative as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”. The academy tries to reach all levels of society through training programmes and these will be overseen by an international team.
• This the academy has therapeutic Yoga rooms for consultation, one to one training spaces or small group classes; pre-natal Yoga rooms; a lecture hall with 200 sitting capacity; a full-fledged recording studio with editing suites for pre-recorded wellness programs; a recording Yoga hall fully equipped for Live online Yoga Classes; a Yoga library with books from every Yoga Institutions and access to Yoga research articles.

Himachal becomes, first smoke-free state of the country

• Himachal Pradesh became the first LPG enables, also, smoke-free state. This milestone was achieved due to the Ujjwala Scheme and Grahini Suvidha Yojana by Centre. The Ujjwala scheme was introduced by the government to get rid of the smoke. The Grahini Suvidha Scheme was introduced to assist the women of rural areas.
• Ujjwalla Yojna was started by the Centre government with the view to free the women of the country from indoor pollution. Along with this, the Himachal government also started the Grihini Suvidha Yojana to benefit as many women as possible, under the scheme.
• Under the Ujjwala yojana with an expenditure of Rs. 21.81 crore 1.36 lakh free domestic connections were given in Himachal, while under the Grihini Suvidha Yojana of the Himachal government, 3.23 lakh housewives were provided free gas cylinders at a cost of Rs. 120 crore.

Former US diplomat Atul Keshap appointed head of US-India Business Council

• Indian-origin American diplomat Atul Keshap has been appointed as the President of the U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) by the US Chambers of Commerce. His term is effective from January 05, 2022. The US Chambers of Commerce is the parent body of USIBC. Atul Keshap replaces Nisha Desai Biswal.
• Prior to this, Keshap served in Delhi as United States Chargé d’Affaires to India, leading the US Embassy team. The USIBC represents top global companies operating across the United States, India, and the Indo-Pacific.

RBI appoints Ajay Kumar Choudhary and Deepak Kumar as new Executive Directors

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Deepak Kumar and Ajay Kumar Choudhary as new executive directors (ED) with effect from 03 January. Prior to being promoted as ED, Deepak Kumar was heading the department of information technology of RBI, while Ajay Choudhary was Chief General Manager-in-Charge, Department of Supervision.
• Kumar has over a span of three decades working in RBI’s central office departments covering policy making and project management functions in the areas of information technology, cyber security, payment systems, currency management, human resource management, banking supervision, foreign exchange management.
• Meanwhile, Choudhary has, over a span of three decades, served in supervision, regulation, currency management, payments and settlements, and other areas in the Reserve Bank, in its Central Office as well as Regional Offices. He will look after the fintech department, risk monitoring department and inspection department.

Padmashri Sindhutai Sapkal passed away at the age of 73

• Social worker Sindhutai Sapkal, who was called as ‘Mother of Orphans’ passed away at the age of 73 years. She was also referred to just as ‘Sindhutai’ or ‘Mai’. She was awarded the Padma Shri in 2021 in the Social Work category. Apart from this, she had received more than 750 awards and honours in her lifetime. She adopted close to 2,000 orphans and is grandmother to even more. She was from Maharashtra. A biopic on her life titled “Mee Sindhutai Sapkal“ was released in the year 2010.

 Veteran Vice Admiral S H Sarma passed away at the age of 100

• The Indian Navy’s 1971 Indo-Pak war veteran Vice Admiral S.H. Sarma has passed away, at the age of 100. He was the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet during the 1971 war. India had defeated Pakistan in the 1971 war leading to the creation of Bangladesh. Vice Admiral Sarma had celebrated his 100th birthday on December 1 last year. He also took part in the Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav celebration in Delhi recently.
• Sarma was the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet during the 1971 war. India had defeated Pakistan in the 1971 war leading to the creation of Bangladesh.

World Day of War Orphans 2022: 6 January

• World Day of War Orphans is marked on 6 January to create awareness about the plight of children who have lost their parents due to conflict. In any conflict, children are one of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable groups present. Children who have been injured in a gunfight or separated from their families require particular care in order to heal the mental wounds of war, begin school, and restart normal life.
• World Day of War Orphans was started by the French organisation SOS Enfants en Detresses, which aimed to help children affected by conflict. According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), an orphan is defined as a “child under 18 years of age who has lost one or both parents to any cause of death”.

Airtel Payments Bank gets permission to function as scheduled bank from RBI

• Airtel Payments Bank has been categorised as a scheduled bank by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in the second schedule of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. With this, Airtel Payments Bank can now pitch for the government. Airtel Payments Bank is among the fastest-growing digital banks in the country, with a base of 115 million users. It offers a suite of digital solutions through the Airtel Thanks app and a retail network of over 500,000 neighbourhood banking points. The bank turned profitable in the quarter ended September 2021.
