जम्मू-कश्मीर एलजी मनोज सिन्हा ने महिलाओं के लिए एक पहल का उद्घाटन किया

• जम्मू और कश्मीर में, उपराज्यपाल मनोज सिन्हा ने स्वयं सहायता समूह (SHG) महिलाओं के लिए (Saath) नामक एक ग्रामीण उद्यम त्वरण कार्यक्रम शुरू किया है। कार्यक्रम का उद्देश्य एसएचजी से जुड़ी महिलाओं को सलाह देकर और इन महिलाओं द्वारा बनाए गए उत्पादों के बाजार संबंध बनाकर महिलाओं के जीवन को बदलना और उन्हें सामाजिक और वित्तीय पहलुओं में स्वतंत्र और मजबूत बनाना है।
• जम्मू और कश्मीर में पहले से ही 48000 एसएचजी हैं, इन एसएचजी से करीब चार लाख महिलाएं जुड़ी हैं। जम्मू-कश्मीर प्रशासन का लक्ष्य आने वाले वर्ष में 11000 और एसएचजी बनाना है। यह इन महिलाओं के जीवन को बदल देगा और उन्हें सामाजिक और वित्तीय पहलुओं में स्वतंत्र और मजबूत बनाएगा।
• (Saath) का उद्देश्य ग्रामीण महिलाओं की आजीविका में तेजी लाना है, जो एसएचजी से जुड़ी हैं और जो छोटे-छोटे काम कर रही हैं। उनके काम में ज्यादा मुनाफा नहीं होता है और मार्केटिंग, पैकेजिंग और ब्रांडिंग के बारे में जानकारी की कमी होती है। इस पहल का उद्देश्य महिलाओं को ऐसे कौशल सिखाना और उनके व्यवसायों को उच्च क्रम के उद्यमों में बदलना है।

 लद्दाख ने हिम तेंदुए को राज्य पशु, काली गर्दन वाली क्रेन को राज्य पक्षी घोषित किया

• केंद्र शासित प्रदेश लद्दाख ने हिम तेंदुए (पैंथर यूनिका) को नया राज्य पशु और काली गर्दन वाली क्रेन (ग्रस निक्रिकोलिस) को नया राज्य पक्षी घोषित किया है। इस संबंध में अधिसूचना 31 अगस्त, 2021 को केंद्र शासित प्रदेश लद्दाख के उपराज्यपाल श्री राधा कृष्ण माथुर द्वारा जारी की गई थी।
• 2019 में जम्मू-कश्मीर और लद्दाख के अलग-अलग प्रशासनिक प्रभागों में विभाजन को ध्यान में रखते हुए यह निर्णय लिया गया। तत्कालीन जम्मू और कश्मीर राज्य में, काली गर्दन वाली क्रेन और कश्मीरी हिरण (हंगुल) क्रमशः राज्य पक्षी और पशु थे।

 प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने 125 रुपये के सिक्के का अनावरण किया

• प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने इस्कॉन के संस्थापक श्रील भक्तिवेदांत स्वामी प्रभुपाद की 125 वीं जयंती को चिह्नित करने के लिए 125 रुपये के एक विशेष स्मारक सिक्के का वस्तुतः अनावरण किया। जुलाई 1966 में, प्रभुपाद ने इंटरनेशनल सोसाइटी फॉर कृष्णा कॉन्शियसनेस (ISKCON) की स्थापना की, जिसे आमतौर पर 'हरे कृष्ण आंदोलन' के रूप में जाना जाता है।
• आध्यात्मिक नेता का जन्म 1 सितंबर, 1896 को कलकत्ता में अभय चरण डे के रूप में हुआ था और बाद में उन्हें सम्मानित ए.सी. भक्तिवेदांत स्वामी प्रभुपाद द्वारा जाना जाने लगा।

टोक्यो पैरालिंपिक: अवनि लेखरा ने जीते दो पदक

• अवनि लेखरा ने महिलाओं की 50 मीटर राइफल थ्री पोजीशन एसएच1 स्पर्धा में 445.9 के स्कोर के साथ कांस्य पदक जीता और पैरालंपिक में दो पदक जीतने वाली पहली भारतीय महिला बनीं। लेखरा ने 10 मीटर एयर राइफल स्टैंडिंग एसएच1 इवेंट में भी स्वर्ण पदक जीता था।
• इन पैरालंपिक में भारत की पदक तालिका अब 12 हो गई है। भारत ने अब तक दो स्वर्ण, छह रजत और चार कांस्य पदक जीते हैं। यह पैरा खेलों के एकल संस्करण में भारत का सर्वश्रेष्ठ टैली है। इसने रियो 2016 में चार पदक और 1984 पैरालंपिक में चार पदक जीते थे।

 टोक्यो पैरालिंपिक: प्रवीण कुमार ने जीता रजत पदक

• प्रवीण कुमार ने पुरुषों की ऊंची कूद में भारत के चौथे पदक विजेता और टोक्यो पैरालंपिक 2020 में कुल मिलाकर 11वें पदक विजेता बन गए, उन्होंने 2.07 मीटर की एशियाई रिकॉर्ड छलांग के साथ रजत पदक जीता। प्रवीण ने 2.07 मीटर की छलांग के साथ एशियाई रिकॉर्ड को मंजूरी दे दी, ग्रेट ब्रिटेन के जोनाथन ब्रूम-एडवर्ड्स से पीछे रह गए, जिन्होंने ओलंपिक स्टेडियम में बारिश से लथपथ ट्रैक पर 2.10 मीटर की सर्वश्रेष्ठ छलांग लगाई।
• प्रवीण टोक्यो खेलों में पुरुषों की ऊंची कूद में निषाद कुमार, मरियप्पन थान्गावेलु और शरद कुमार के बाद भारत के चौथे पदक विजेता हैं।

आईपीएस अधिकारी पंकज कुमार सिंह ने नए बीएसएफ प्रमुख के रूप में कार्यभार संभाला

• राजस्थान कैडर के 1988 बैच के आईपीएस अधिकारी पंकज कुमार सिंह ने सीमा सुरक्षा बल (BSF) के नए महानिदेशक (डीजी) के रूप में कार्यभार संभाला है। इससे पहले, वह दिल्ली में बीएसएफ मुख्यालय में विशेष डीजी के रूप में कार्यरत थे। 58 वर्षीय पंकज सिंह ने आईपीएस अधिकारी और भारत-तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस महानिदेशक (डीजी) एसएस देसवाल की जगह ली है, जो जुलाई 2021 से बीएसएफ डीजी का अतिरिक्त प्रभार संभाल रहे थे।
• इसके अलावा, तमिलनाडु कैडर के 1988 बैच के आईपीएस अधिकारी संजय अरोड़ा ने भारत-तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस (आईटीबीपी) के नए महानिदेशक के रूप में पदभार संभाला है।

वरिष्ठ पत्रकार और राज्यसभा के पूर्व सांसद चंदन मित्रा का निधन

• पूर्व राज्यसभा सांसद और वरिष्ठ पत्रकार चंदन मित्रा का निधन हो गया है। वह नई दिल्ली में द पायनियर अखबार के संपादक और प्रबंध निदेशक थे। मित्रा को अगस्त 2003 से 2009 तक राज्यसभा के सदस्य के रूप में नामित किया गया था।
• जून 2010 में, मध्य प्रदेश से भाजपा द्वारा मित्रा को राज्यसभा में एक और कार्यकाल के लिए चुना गया था। उनका कार्यकाल 2016 में समाप्त हो गया था। जुलाई 2018 में, उन्होंने भाजपा से इस्तीफा दे दिया और तृणमूल कांग्रेस (टीएमसी) में शामिल हो गए।

एलेजांद्रो प्रीतो ने बर्ड फ़ोटोग्राफ़र ऑफ़ द ईयर 2021 का पुरस्कार जीता

• मैक्सिकन फोटोग्राफर एलेजांद्रो प्रीतो बर्ड फोटोग्राफर ऑफ द ईयर (BPOTY) 2021 के विजेता के रूप में उभरे हैं। उन्होंने संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका और मैक्सिको के बीच कांटेदार तार-क्लैड सीमा की दीवार पर घूरते हुए एक बड़े रोडरनर की तस्वीर को कैप्चर करने के लिए जीता है, जो हैरान की तरह दिखता है।
• छवि को 'अवरुद्ध' शीर्षक दिया गया है। बर्ड फ़ोटोग्राफ़र ऑफ़ द ईयर में £5,000 का नकद पुरस्कार मिलता है। उन्हें 73 देशों की 22,000 प्रविष्टियों में से चुना गया था।

 बैंकिंग और आर्थिक

आरबीआई : एनयूई लाइसेंसों पर पांच सदस्यीय पैनल स्थापित करेगा

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) ने आवेदनों की जांच करने और नई अम्ब्रेला इकाई (NUE) लाइसेंस पर सिफारिशें देने के लिए एक समिति का गठन करेगा। श्री. पी वासुदेवन के पास 5 सदस्यीय समिति की अध्यक्षता है। समिति एनयूई के व्यापक आर्थिक प्रभाव से सुरक्षा जोखिमों तक कई पहलुओं को देखने के लिए जिम्मेदार होगी। लाइसेंस जारी करने से पहले समिति की सिफारिशों पर विचार किया जाएगा।
• एनयूई भारतीय राष्ट्रीय भुगतान निगम (NPCI) के साथ प्रतिस्पर्धा करने के लिए अपना स्वयं का भुगतान बुनियादी ढांचा स्थापित करेंगे। सरकार एनयूई के साथ एकीकृत भुगतान इंटरफेस (UPI) के समान एक भुगतान प्रणाली बनाने की उम्मीद करती है। यह प्रणाली छोटे और मध्यम उद्यमों, व्यापारियों और उपभोक्ताओं पर केंद्रित होगी। आरबीआई ने अगस्त 2020 में "फॉर-प्रॉफिट एनयूई (NUEs)" बनाने के लिए दिशानिर्देश जारी किए थे।

J&K LG Manoj Sinha inaugurates initiative for women

• In Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has launched a Rural Enterprises Acceleration Programme titled ‘Saath’ for Self Help Group (SHG) women. The programme aims to transform the lives of women and make them independent and strong in social and financial aspects, by mentoring the women associated with SHGs and create market linkages of products created by these women.
• Jammu and Kashmir already has 48000 SHGs, with around four lakh women connected to these SHGs. The J&K administration further aims to create 11000 more SHGs in the coming year. This will transform the lives of these women and make them independent and strong in social and financial aspects.

Ladakh announces snow leopard as state animal, black-necked crane as state bird

• The Union Territory of Ladakh has declared snow leopard (Panther unica) as the new state animal and black-necked crane (Grus nicricollis) as the new state bird. The notification in this regard was released by Shri Radha Krishna Mathur, Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Ladakh on August 31, 2021.
• The decision was taken keeping in view bifurcation of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh into separate administrative divisions in 2019. In the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, the black-necked crane and Kashmir stag (Hangul) were the state bird and animal respectively.

 PM Modi releases special Rs 125 coin on ISKCON founder's

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually unveiled a special commemorative coin of Rs 125 to mark the 125th birth anniversary of ISKCON founder Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. In July 1966, Prabhupada founded the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) commonly known as the ‘Hare Krishna movement’. The spiritual leader was born as Abhay Charan De on September 1, 1896, in Calcutta and later came to be known by the honorific A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Tokyo Paralympics: Avani Lekhara won two medals

• Avani Lekhara won the bronze medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions SH1 event with a score of 445.9 to become the first Indian woman to win two medals at the Paralympics. Lekhara had also won gold in the 10m air rifle standing SH1 event.
• India’s medal tally now stands at 12 at these Paralympics. It has now won two golds, six silvers and four bronze medals. This is India’s best tally at a single edition of the Para Games. It had won four medals at Rio 2016 and four at the 1984 Paralympics.

 Tokyo Paralympics: Praveen Kumar wins silver medals

• Praveen Kumar became India’s fourth medallist in men’s high jump and 11th medallist overall at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020 as he won silver with an Asian record jump of 2.07m. Praveen cleared the Asian record with a 2.07m jump, finishing behind Great Britain’s Jonathan Broom-Edwards, who managed the best jump of 2.10m on a rain-soaked track at the Olympic Stadium.
• Praveen is India’s fourth medallist in men’s high jump at Tokyo Games after Nishad Kumar, Mariyappan Thangavelu, and Sharad Kumar.

IPS officer Pankaj Kumar Singh takes charge as new BSF chief

• Pankaj Kumar Singh, a 1988-batch IPS officer from the Rajasthan cadre, has taken charge as the new Director General (DG) of the Border Security Force (BSF). Prior to this, he was serving as the special DG at the BSF headquarters in Delhi. The 58-year-old Pankaj Singh replaces IPS officer and Indo-Tibetan Border Police Director General (DG) SS Deswal who was holding the additional charge of BSF DG since July 2021.
• Apart from this, Sanjay Arora, a 1988-batch IPS officers from Tamil Nadu cadre, has taken over as the new DG of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

 OBITUARY

Senior Journalist and former Rajya Sabha MP Chandan Mitra passes away

• Former Rajya Sabha MP and senior journalist Chandan Mitra has passed away. He was the Editor and Managing Director of The Pioneer newspaper in New Delhi. Mitra was nominated as a member of the Rajya Sabha from August 2003 to 2009.
• In June 2010, Mitra was elected to another term in the Rajya Sabha by BJP from Madhya Pradesh. His term ended in 2016. In July 2018, he resigned from the BJP and joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Alejandro Prieto wins Bird Photographer of the Year 2021

• Mexican photographer Alejandro Prieto has emerged as the winner of the Bird Photographer of the Year (BPOTY) 2021. He has won for capturing a photograph of a greater roadrunner staring up at the barbed-wire-clad border wall between the USA and Mexico, with what almost looks like a sense of bewilderment.
• The image has been given the title as ‘Blocked’. The Bird Photographer of the Year comes with a cash prize of £5,000. He was chosen from among 22,000 entries from 73 countries.

 BANKING AND ECONOMIC

RBI to set up five-member panel on NUE licences

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will set up a committee to scrutinize applications and give recommendations on New Umbrella Entity (NUE) licenses. The 5 member committee will be headed by Shri. P. Vasudevan. The committee will be responsible for looking into several aspects of NUE, from the macroeconomic impact of such a step to the security risks. The committee’s recommendations will be taken into consideration before doling out the licences.
• NUEs will establish their own payment infrastructure to compete with the National Payments Corp. of India (NPCI). The government hopes to build a settlement system similar to the unified payments interface (UPI) with the NUEs. The system will be focused on small and medium enterprises, merchants and consumers. The RBI had in August 2020 issued guidelines for creating “for-profit NUEs”.
