छत्तीसगढ़ के मुख्यमंत्री ने गोबर आधारित बिजली उत्पादन परियोजना का शुभारंभ किया

• छत्तीसगढ़ के मुख्यमंत्री भूपेश बघेल ने शनिवार को गांधी जयंती के उपलक्ष्य में किसानों के एक कार्यक्रम में गाय के गोबर को ईंधन के रूप में इस्तेमाल करने वाली बिजली उत्पादन परियोजना का शुभारंभ किया।
• बेमेतरा जिले के बेसिक स्कूल मैदान में एक किसान रैली को संबोधित करते हुए बघेल ने कहा कि इस परियोजना में ग्रामीणों, महिलाओं और युवाओं की भागीदारी होगी और यह महात्मा गांधी के 'ग्राम स्वराज' के सपने को साकार करने की दिशा में एक कदम है।
• "ग्लोबल वार्मिंग से पूरी दुनिया चिंतित है। हर जगह हरित ऊर्जा की बात हो रही है, इसलिए हमारी सरकार ने गाय के गोबर से बिजली बनाने का फैसला किया है। हर गांव में गौठानों (ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में एक जगह) में ऐसी इकाई स्थापित की जाएगी। जहां गोधन न्याय योजना के तहत गाय के गोबर की खरीद की जाती है।"

 अलीबाग के प्रसिद्ध सफेद प्याज को भौगोलिक संकेत टैग

• महाराष्ट्र के रायगढ़ जिले में अलीबाग के प्रसिद्ध सफेद प्याज ने फसल को एक विशिष्ट पहचान और व्यापक बाजार देकर खुद को एक 'भौगोलिक संकेत' अर्जित किया है।
• उन्होंने बताया कि अलीबाग का सफेद प्याज, जिसमें औषधीय गुण होते हैं और जिसका उपयोग हृदय रोगों के उपचार, कोलेस्ट्रॉल को नियंत्रित करने और इंसुलिन के निर्माण के लिए किया जाता है, का उल्लेख 1883 में आधिकारिक राजपत्र में किया गया है।
• "यहां के कृषि विभाग और कोंकण कृषि विश्वविद्यालय ने संयुक्त रूप से 15 जनवरी, 2019 को जीआई आवेदन जमा किया था। इस साल 29 सितंबर को पेटेंट रजिस्ट्रार के मुंबई कार्यालय में प्रस्ताव की जांच की गई और जीआई टैग प्रदान करने का निर्णय लिया गया।

 महाराष्ट्र: पालघर के प्रसिद्ध वड़ा कोलम चावल को भौगोलिक टैग

• महाराष्ट्र के पालघर जिले के वाडा में व्यापक रूप से उगाए जाने वाले चावल की एक किस्म को 'भौगोलिक संकेत' का टैग दिया गया है, जो इसे एक विशिष्ट पहचान के साथ-साथ व्यापक बाजार प्रदान करेगा।
• 29 सितंबर को मुंबई में हुई बैठक में वाडा कोलम चावल को 'भौगोलिक संकेत' का टैग मिला है।
• वड़ा कोलम, जिसे ज़िनी या झिनी चावल के नाम से भी जाना जाता है, पालघर की वाडा तहसील में उगाई जाने वाली एक पारंपरिक किस्म है, जिसके दाने सफेद रंग के होते हैं।

विश्व महिला टीम शतरंज चैंपियनशिप में भारत ने जीता पहला रजत पदक

• भारत ने शनिवार को फिडे विश्व महिला टीम शतरंज चैंपियनशिप के फाइनल में रूस से 0-2 से हारकर रजत पदक जीता।
• बोर्ड पर डी हरिका की शानदार जीत के बावजूद पहला मैच 1.2.-2-5 से हारने के बाद, भारतीयों को दूसरे में 3-1 से बाहर कर दिया गया क्योंकि एक मजबूत रूसी टीम ने खिताबी जीत हासिल की। यह विश्व टीम शतरंज चैंपियनशिप में भारत का पहला पदक था।

क्रिसिल ने अमीश मेहता को नया एमडी और सीईओ नियुक्त किया

• अमीश मेहता को 01 अक्टूबर, 2021 से रेटिंग एजेंसी क्रिसिल के नए प्रबंध निदेशक और मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी (एमडी और सीईओ) के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है। उन्होंने आशु सुयश का स्थान लिया है। क्रिसिल का स्वामित्व एसएंडपी के पास है।
• मेहता को उद्योगों में नेतृत्व का दो दशकों से अधिक का अनुभव है और अक्टूबर 2014 में अध्यक्ष और मुख्य वित्तीय अधिकारी के रूप में क्रिसिल में शामिल हुए। जुलाई 2017 में, उन्हें वैश्विक विश्लेषणात्मक केंद्र, भारत अनुसंधान और एसएमई, वैश्विक नवाचार और उत्कृष्टता केंद्र और कॉर्पोरेट रणनीति के लिए जिम्मेदार, अध्यक्ष और मुख्य परिचालन अधिकारी के रूप में पदोन्नत किया गया था।

विश्व कृषि पशु दिवस 2021: 02 अक्टूबर

• विश्व कृषि पशु दिवस (WDFA) 02 अक्टूबर को मनाया जाता है, जो महात्मा गांधी की जयंती का प्रतीक है। इस दिन का आयोजन अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पशु कल्याण संगठन, विश्व पशु संरक्षण के साथ-साथ एशिया फॉर एनिमल्स गठबंधन द्वारा कृषि पशु कल्याण के महत्व और तात्कालिकता को दिखाने के लिए किया जाता है। यह दिन उन जानवरों की अनावश्यक पीड़ा और मृत्यु को उजागर करने के लिए समर्पित है, जिन्हें भोजन के लिए पाला और वध किया जाता है।
• फ़ार्म एनिमल राइट्स मूवमेंट (FARM) द्वारा 1983 से हर साल वर्ल्ड डे फ़ॉर फ़ार्म्ड एनिमल्स का आयोजन किया जाता है, इस साल एनिमल जस्टिस, द एनिमल लॉ फ़र्म, द एनिमल एक्टिविज़्म मेंटरशिप प्रोग्राम, यहूदी वेज, स्विच4गुड, और देर टर्न की भागीदारी के साथ मिलकर किया जा रहा है।

 67वां राष्ट्रीय वन्यजीव सप्ताह 2021: 02 से 08 अक्टूबर

• भारत के वनस्पतियों और जीवों की रक्षा और संरक्षण के उद्देश्य से 2 से 8 अक्टूबर के बीच पूरे भारत में प्रतिवर्ष राष्ट्रीय वन्यजीव सप्ताह मनाया जाता है। वन्यजीव सप्ताह 2021 2 अक्टूबर से 8 अक्टूबर तक मनाया जाता है। 2021 में हम 67वां वन्यजीव सप्ताह मना रहे हैं। इस वर्ष राष्ट्रीय वन्यजीव सप्ताह थीम 2021: "वन और आजीविका: लोगों और ग्रह को बनाए रखना" है।
• भारतीय वन्यजीव बोर्ड का गठन किया गया था और भारत के वन्यजीवों की रक्षा के दीर्घकालिक लक्ष्यों के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए 1952 में वन्यजीव सप्ताह के विचार की अवधारणा की गई थी। प्रारंभ में, 1955 में वन्यजीव दिवस मनाया गया था जिसे बाद में 1957 में वन्यजीव सप्ताह के रूप में उन्नत किया गया था।

भारतीय संगठन लाइफ ने तीन अन्य लोगों के साथ वैकल्पिक नोबेल साझा किया

• दिल्ली स्थित पर्यावरण संगठन "लीगल इनिशिएटिव फॉर फॉरेस्ट एंड एनवायरनमेंट (LIFE)" को 2021 राइट लाइवलीहुड अवार्ड, एक अंतरराष्ट्रीय सम्मान, जिसे स्वीडन के वैकल्पिक नोबेल पुरस्कार के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, से सम्मानित किया गया है। LIFE को इस पुरस्कार के लिए "कमजोर समुदायों को उनकी आजीविका की रक्षा करने और स्वच्छ पर्यावरण के अपने अधिकार का दावा करने के लिए सशक्त बनाने के लिए जमीनी दृष्टिकोण" के लिए चुना गया है।

• यह पुरस्कार 1980 में जर्मन-स्वीडिश परोपकारी जैकब वॉन उस्कुल द्वारा स्थापित किया गया था, जो "उन लोगों का सम्मान और समर्थन करते हैं जो पर्यावरण संरक्षण, मानवाधिकार, सतत विकास, स्वास्थ्य, शिक्षा जैसे क्षेत्रों में व्यावहारिक और अनुकरणीय योगदान प्रदान करते हैं, जो नोबेल पुरस्कार सूची में शामिल नहीं हैं। राइट लाइवलीहुड अवार्ड 1 मिलियन स्वीडिश क्राउन ($115,000) के नकद पुरस्कार और विजेताओं को उजागर करने और विस्तार करने के लिए दीर्घकालिक समर्थन के साथ आता है।

USIBC शिव नादर और मल्लिका श्रीनिवासन को ग्लोबल लीडरशिप अवार्ड प्रदान करेगा

• यूएस इंडिया बिजनेस काउंसिल (USIBC) ने शिव नादर और मल्लिका श्रीनिवासन को अपने 2021 ग्लोबल लीडरशिप अवार्ड के प्राप्तकर्ता के रूप में चुना है। शिव नादर एचसीएल टेक्नोलॉजीज लिमिटेड के संस्थापक और मानद अध्यक्ष हैं। मल्लिका श्रीनिवासन ट्रैक्टर्स एंड फार्म इक्विपमेंट लिमिटेड (TAFE) की अध्यक्ष और प्रबंध निदेशक हैं। दोनों को 6-7 अक्टूबर, 2021 को होने वाले 2021 इंडिया आइडियाज समिट में सम्मानित किया जाएगा।
• ग्लोबल लीडरशिप अवार्ड्स जो 2007 से प्रतिवर्ष दिए जाते हैं, संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका और भारत के शीर्ष कॉर्पोरेट अधिकारियों को सम्मानित करते हैं। बयान के अनुसार, उन्होंने अनुकरणीय नेतृत्व का प्रदर्शन किया है और दोनों देशों के बीच रणनीतिक और आर्थिक साझेदारी को आगे बढ़ाने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई है। निशा देसाई बिस्वाल USIBC की अध्यक्ष हैं।

Chhattisgarh CM launches cow dung based power generation project

• Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday launched an electricity generation project that uses cow dung as fuel at a farmers' event to mark Gandhi Jayanti , officials said.
• Addressing a farmers' rally at Basic School ground in Bemetara district, Baghel said the project will see involvement of villagers, women and youth, and was a step towards realizing Mahatma Gandhi's dream of 'Gram Swaraj' (village self rule).
• "The entire world is worried over global warming. There is talk of green energy everywhere, so our government has decided to make electricity from cow dung. In every village, such a unit will be set up in gauthans (a place in rural areas where cattle are kept), where cow dung is procured under the Godhan Nyay Yojana scheme," he said.

 Alibag's famed white onion gets Geographical Indication Tag

• The famed white onion of Alibag in Maharashtra's Raigad district has earned itself a 'Geographical Indication', giving the crop a unique identity and wider markets, agriculture department.
• They pointed out that Alibag's white onion, which has medicinal qualities and is used for the treatment of heart ailments, controlling cholesterol and creation of insulin, has been mentioned in the official gazette as long back as 1883.
• "The agriculture department here and Konkan Agriculture University had jointly submitted the GI application on January 15, 2019. On September 29 this year, the proposal was scrutinised in the Mumbai office of the Registrar of Patents and it was decided to confer GI tag on Alibag's white onion.

Maharashtra: Palghar's Famed Wada Kolam Rice Gets Geographical Indication Tag

• A variety of rice widely grown in Wada in Palghar district in Maharashtra has been given a 'Geographical Indication' tag, which will give it a unique identity as well as wider markets.
• Wada Kolam rice got the 'Geographical Indication' tag in a meeting held in Mumbai on September 29.
• Wada Kolam, also known as Zini or Jhini rice, is a traditional variety grown in Wada tehsil of Palghar, with the grain being off white in colour.

India win first-ever medal, a silver at World Women's Team Chess Championship

• India clinched a silver medal after going down 0-2 to Russia in the final of the FIDE World Women's Team Chess Championship on Saturday.
• After losing the first match 1.2.-2-5 despite a brilliant win for D Harika on the board , the Indians were outclassed 3-1 in the second as a strong Russian team stormed to a title triumph. It was India's first ever medal in the world team chess championship.

 APPOINTMENT & RESIGNATION

CRISIL appointed Amish Mehta as new MD & CEO

• Amish Mehta has been appointed as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of rating agency Crisil with effect from October 01, 2021. He has replaced Ashu Suyash. Crisil is owned by S&P.
• Mehta has more than two decades of leadership experience across industries and joined Crisil in October 2014 as President and Chief Financial Officer. In July 2017, he was elevated as the President and Chief Operating Officer, responsible for the global analytical centre, India research and SME, the global innovation and excellence hub and corporate strategy.

World Day for Farmed Animals 2021: 02nd October

• World Day for Farmed Animals (WDFA) is observed on October 02, which marks the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The day is organised by the International animals’ welfare organization, World Animal Protection along with Asia for Animals coalition to show the importance and urgency of farm animal welfare. The day is dedicated to exposing the needless suffering and death of farmed animals who are raised and slaughtered for food.
• World Day for Farmed Animals has been organized each year since 1983 by the Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM), this year with the participation of Animal Justice, the Animal Law Firm, the Animal Activism Mentorship Program, Jewish Veg, Switch4Good, and Their Turn.

 67th National Wildlife Week 2021: 02nd  to 08th October

• National Wildlife Week is annually celebrated across India between 2nd to 8th October with an aim to protect and preserve the flora and fauna of India. The Wildlife Week 2021 is celebrated from 2nd October to 8th October. In 2021, we are celebrating 67th Wildlife Week. This year National Wildlife Week theme 2021: “Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet”.
• The Indian Board of Wildlife was constituted and the idea of Wildlife Week was conceptualised in 1952 to raise awareness about the long term goals of protecting the wildlife of India. Initially, in 1955 the Wildlife day was celebrated which was later upgraded as Wildlife Week in 1957.

Indian organisation LIFE shares Alternative Nobel with three others

• The Delhi-based environmental organisation “Legal Initiative for Forest and Environment (LIFE)” has been felicitated with the 2021 Right Livelihood Award, an international honour, also known as Sweden’s alternative Nobel Prize. LIFE has been selected for the award for its “grassroots approach of empowering vulnerable communities to protect their livelihoods and claim their right to a clean environment.”
• The Award was established in 1980 by German-Swedish philanthropist Jakob von Uexkull to “honour and support those who offer a practical and exemplary contribution in such fields as environmental protection, human rights, sustainable development, health, education, which are not included in Nobel Prize list. The Right Livelihood Award comes with a cash prize of 1 million Swedish crowns ($115,000) and long-term support to highlight and expand Laureates’.

USIBC to present Global Leadership Award to Shiv Nadar and Mallika Srinivasan

• The US India Business Council (USIBC) has chosen Shiv Nadar and Mallika Srinivasan as the recipient of its 2021 Global Leadership Award. Shiv Nadar is the founder and chairman emeritus of HCL Technologies Limited. Mallika Srinivasan is the chair and managing director, Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE). Both will be honoured at the 2021 India Ideas Summit to be held on October 6-7, 2021.
• The Global Leadership Awards which are given annually since 2007, honour top corporate executives from the United States and India. According to the statement, they have demonstrated exemplary leadership and played a significant role in advancing the strategic and economic partnership between the two countries. Nisha Desai Biswal is the President of USIBC.
