शांतिर अग्रसेना 2021 सैन्य अभ्यास में भाग लेगी भारतीय सेना

• बांग्लादेश में 'शांतिर अग्रसेना 2021 (SHANTIR OGROSHENA 2021) (शांति का फ्रंट रनर) नामक एक बहुराष्ट्रीय सैन्य अभ्यास 04 से 12 अप्रैल, 2021 तक आयोजित किया जा रहा है। इस अभ्यास का विषय "रोबस्ट पीस कीपिंग ऑपरेशंस” है। बांग्लादेश के 'राष्ट्र पिता' बंगबंधु शेख मुजीबुर्रहमान की जन्म शताब्दी और देश की मुक्ति के गौरवशाली 50 वर्ष पूरे होने के उपलक्ष्य में यह अभ्यास आयोजित किया जा रहा है।
• रॉयल भूटान आर्मी, श्रीलंका आर्मी और बांग्लादेश आर्मी की टुकड़ी के साथ भारतीय सेना भी इस बहुराष्ट्रीय अभ्यास में भाग ले रही है।
• भारतीय दल में 30 कर्मचारी शामिल होंगे, जिनमें द डोगरा रेजिमेंट के बटालियन के अधिकारी, जेसीओ और जवान शामिल हैं।
• संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका, यूके, तुर्की, सऊदी अरब, कुवैत और सिंगापुर भी सैन्य पर्यवेक्षकों के रूप में अभ्यास में भाग लेंगे।

भारत सरकार ने 14 अप्रैल, डॉ बी आर अंबेडकर के जन्मदिन को सार्वजनिक अवकाश घोषित किया

• केंद्र सरकार ने 14 अप्रैल को डॉ. बीआर अंबेडकर के जन्मदिन को सार्वजनिक अवकाश घोषित किया है। डॉ. बी. आर. अंबेडकर भारतीय संविधान के स्कल्प्टर थे और देश हर साल पहले से ही उनके जन्मदिन को अंबेडकर जयंती के रूप में मनाता है। सरकार ने घोषणा की है कि इस वर्ष से 14 अप्रैल को सार्वजनिक अवकाश के रूप में घोषित किया जाएगा। 14 अप्रैल 2021 को अंबेडकर की 130 वीं जयंती होगी।
• बाबासाहेब अंबेडकर का मूल नाम भीमराव रामजी अंबेडकर है।
• उनका परिवार 1897 में मुंबई में बस गया और बाबासाहेब ने एल्फिंस्टन हाई स्कूल में दाखिला लिया। मैट्रिक के बाद, उन्होंने 1907 में एल्फिंस्टन कॉलेज में प्रवेश लिया।
• उन्होंने 1912 में बॉम्बे विश्वविद्यालय से अर्थशास्त्र और राजनीति विज्ञान में डिग्री प्राप्त की। बाबासाहेब अम्बेडकर एक प्रसिद्ध समाज सुधारक और दलित आइकन थे, उन्होंने असमानता, अन्याय और दलित समुदाय के सदस्यों के साथ भेदभाव के खिलाफ असमान रूप से बात की।
• बाबासाहेब अम्बेडकर का निधन 6 दिसंबर 1956 को हुआ था। 1990 में, उन्हें मरणोपरांत भारत रत्न, भारत के सर्वोच्च नागरिक पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था।

महाराष्ट्र: अम्बोली जैव विविधता विरासत स्थल के रूप में नामित

• महाराष्ट्र सरकार ने सिंधुदुर्ग जिले में पश्चिमी घाटों में अम्बोली में एक क्षेत्र घोषित किया है, जहाँ एक दुर्लभ मीठे पानी की मछली की प्रजातियों को जैव विविधता विरासत स्थल के रूप में खोजा गया था। मुख्यमंत्री उद्धव ठाकरे के बेटे तेजस ठाकरे, जो एक वन्यजीव शोधकर्ता हैं, और उनकी टीम ने सिंधुदुर्ग जिले की सावंतवाड़ी तहसील में अंबोली के पास नई मीठे पानी की मछली प्रजातियों - "शिस्टुरा हिरण्यकेशी" की खोज की थी। राज्य सरकार ने एक अधिसूचना जारी कर अंबोली में क्षेत्र को जैव विविधता विरासत स्थल घोषित किया। शिस्टुरा एक छोटी और रंगीन मछली है जो पानी में रहती है और ऑक्सीजन की प्रचुर मात्रा में प्रवाहित होती है।

उत्तर प्रदेश में गाजियाबाद नगर निगम बीएसई में सूचीबद्ध

• गाजियाबाद नगर निगम ने खुद को BSE में सूचीबद्ध किया और BSE BOND का उपयोग करके निजी प्लेसमेंट बेसिस पर नगर निगम बांड जारी करके सफलतापूर्वक 150 करोड़ रुपये जुटाए। यह देश में किसी भी नगर निगम द्वारा जारी किया गया पहला ग्रीन बॉन्ड है। धन का उपयोग गाजियाबाद के इंदिरापुरम में तृतीयक सीवेज उपचार संयंत्र के निर्माण के लिए किया जाएगा। धन का उपयोग आंशिक रूप से परियोजना को निधि देने के लिए किया जाएगा, जिसकी कीमत 240 करोड़ रुपये है। यह ट्रीटमेंट प्लांट सीवेज के पानी को उपचार के बाद उद्योगों के लिए उपयोग करने में सक्षम करेगा।
• गाजियाबाद नगर निगम उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य में धन जुटाने वाला दूसरा नगर निगम है। इससे पहले, लखनऊ नगर निगम को BSE में सूचीबद्ध किया गया था।

तीन राफेल फाइटर जेट्स की चौथी खेप पहुंची भारत

• इंडियन एयरफोर्स (IAF) की स्ट्राइक क्षमता को और बढ़ाने के लिए इस्ट्रेस एयर बेस फ्रांस से नॉन-स्टॉप उड़ान भरने के बाद तीन राफेल फाइटर जेट्स की चौथी खेप भारत पहुंच चुकी है। संयुक्त अरब अमीरात (यूएई) के वायु सेना के टैंकरों द्वारा बीच हवा में राफेल लड़ाकू जेट विमानों में ईंधन भरने की सुविधा प्रदान की गई थी।
• भारत के लिए फ्रांस से उड़ान भरने वाले तीन राफेल लड़ाकू विमान जामनगर एयरबेस पर उतरने वाले थे। हैमर मिसाइलों से लैस विमानों ने बालाकोट की तरह हवाई हमले की क्षमता को बढ़ाया है।

केंद्र ने वापस ले लिया छोटी बचत योजनाओं पर ब्याज कटौती का आदेश

• सरकार ने 2021-22 की पहली तिमाही के लिए राष्ट्रीय बचत प्रमाणपत्र (NSC) और सार्वजनिक भविष्य निधि (PPF) सहित छोटी बचत योजनाओं पर ब्याज दरों में कमी करने के अपने आदेश को वापस ले लिया है। इससे पहले 31 मार्च 2021 को वित्त मंत्रालय ने छोटी बचत योजनाओं के लिए ब्याज दरों में 50-110 आधार अंकों की कटौती की घोषणा की थी। छोटी बचत योजनाओं के लिए ब्याज दरों को तिमाही आधार पर अधिसूचित किया जाता है।
• हालाँकि, जारी किए गए आदेश सरकार द्वारा 01 अप्रैल, 2021 को वापस ले लिए गए। यह लगातार चौथी तिमाही है कि सरकार ने ऐसी योजनाओं पर दरों को बनाए रखा है जो 1 अप्रैल से प्रभावी हैं और 30 जून, 2021 तक प्रभावी रहेंगी।

WEF के जेंडर गैप सूचकांक 2021 में भारत 140 वें स्थान पर

• वर्ल्ड इकोनॉमिक फोरम द्वारा ग्लोबल जेंडर गैप रिपोर्ट 2021 में 156 देशों में से भारत 140वें स्थान पर 28 स्थान खिसक गया है। 2020 में, भारत 153 देशों में से 112 वें स्थान पर था। आइसलैंड ने 12 वीं बार दुनिया में सबसे अधिक लिंग-समान देश के रूप में सूचकांक में शीर्ष स्थान हासिल किया है। रिपोर्ट में अफगानिस्तान सबसे खराब प्रदर्शन करने वाला देश है।

दक्षिण एशिया:

• भारत दक्षिण एशिया में तीसरा सबसे खराब प्रदर्शन करने वाला देश बन गया।
• दक्षिण एशिया में बांग्लादेश का सबसे अच्छा प्रदर्शन है।
• भारत के पड़ोसियों में, बांग्लादेश 65 वें, नेपाल 106 वें, पाकिस्तान 153 वें, अफगानिस्तान 156 वें, भूटान 130 वें और श्रीलंका 116 वें स्थान पर है।
• दक्षिण एशिया में, केवल पाकिस्तान और अफगानिस्तान भारत से नीचे थे.

मार्च 2021 में जीएसटी राजस्व संग्रह

• भारत की आर्थिक रिकवरी अप्रचलित बन रही है। मार्च महीने के लिए जीएसटी संग्रह में 1.23 लाख करोड़ रुपये का शीर्ष रहा है, जिसने जुलाई 2017 में माल और सेवा कर के कार्यान्वयन के बाद एक नया रिकॉर्ड स्थापित किया। मार्च 2021 के महीने में सकल जीएसटी राजस्व, रिकॉर्ड पर पहुंच गया, जिसमें 123,902 करोड़ में से CGST 22,973 करोड़, SGST 29,329 करोड़, IGST 62,842 करोड़ और सेस रु. 8,757 करोड़ है।

फेसबुक और गूगल समुद्र के नीचे बनाएंगे 'इको' और 'बिफ्रोस्ट' नामक नए केबल

• फेसबुक और गूगल अमेरिका से सिंगापुर और इंडोनेशिया के लिए नए सबसी केबल बनाने की योजना बना रहे हैं। फेसबुक ने दो नए सबसी केबल इको और बिफ्रोस्ट के निर्माण के लिए प्रमुख क्षेत्रीय और वैश्विक भागीदारों के साथ साझेदारी की है, जो एशिया-प्रशांत क्षेत्र और उत्तरी अमेरिका के बीच महत्वपूर्ण नए कनेक्शन प्रदान करेंगे। जबकि गूगल केवल इको में निवेश कर रहा है। इन केबलों से कुल ट्रांस्पेसिफिक क्षमता में 70 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि होगी।
• ये परियोजनाएँ अभी भी विनियामक अनुमोदन के अधीन हैं, पूरी होने पर, इन केबलों से बहुत अधिक इंटरनेट क्षमता, अतिरेक और विश्वसनीयता प्रदान करने की उम्मीद की जा रही है। घोषणाएं ऐसे समय में हुई हैं जब कोविड -19 महामारी ने विश्वसनीय इंटरनेट पहुंच की आवश्यकता को बढ़ा दिया है।

UNESCAP: 2021-22 में भारत की आर्थिक विकास दर 7%

• एशिया और प्रशांत के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र आर्थिक और सामाजिक आयोग (United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific – UNESCAP) ने नवीनतम अपडेट में कहा कि, सामान्य व्यावसायिक गतिविधि पर महामारी का प्रभाव के कारण पिछले वित्त वर्ष में 7.7% के संकुचन के बाद 2021-22 में भारत की आर्थिक वृद्धि दर 7% रिकॉर्ड करने का अनुमान है।
• यह भी उल्लेख किया गया है कि गैर-निष्पादित ऋणों को देखते हुए कम उधार लागत को बनाए रखना एक चुनौती होगी।

पेटीएम मनी ने पुणे में खोला नया R&D सेंटर

• ऑनलाइन निवेश प्लेटफॉर्म पेटीएम मनी ने पुणे, महाराष्ट्र में एक नई R&D सुविधा स्थापित की है, जो विशेष रूप से इक्विटी, म्यूचुअल फंड और डिजिटल गोल्ड के क्षेत्र में उत्पाद नवाचार को चलाएगी। कंपनी ने कहा कि वह नए धन उत्पादों और सेवाओं के निर्माण के लिए 250 से अधिक इंजीनियरों और डेटा वैज्ञानिकों को नियुक्त करने की योजना बना रही है।
• पेटीएम मनी का लक्ष्य छोटे शहरों और कस्बों से आने वाले अधिकांश उपयोगकर्ताओं के साथ, FY21 में 10 मिलियन से अधिक उपयोगकर्ता और 75 मिलियन वार्षिक लेनदेन प्राप्त करना है।

INTERNATIONAL

Indian Army to participate in Military Exercise SHANTIR OGROSHENA 2021

• A multinational Military Exercise named ‘SHANTIR OGROSHENA’ 2021 (Front Runner of the Peace) is scheduled to be held in Bangladesh from April 04 to 12, 2021. The theme of the exercise is “Robust Peace Keeping Operations”. The exercise is being held to commemorate the birth centenary of Bangladesh ‘Father of the Nation’ Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and mark glorious 50 years of liberation of the country.
• The Indian Army is also participating in this multinational exercise, along with a contingent of the Royal Bhutan Army, Sri Lankan Army and Bangladesh Army.
• The Indian contingent will comprise 30 personnel including Officers, JCOs and Jawans of a Battalion from The DOGRA Regiment.
• USA, UK, Turkey, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Singapore will also attend the exercise as Military observers.

GoI declares 14th April, birthday of Dr B R Ambedkar as public holiday

• The central government has declared April 14, Dr BR Ambedkar's birthday a public holiday. Dr B R Ambedkar was the sculptor of the Indian Constitution and the country already celebrates his birthday as Ambedkar Jayanti every year. The government has announced that from this year 14th April will be declared as a public holiday. It will be Ambedkar’s 130th birth anniversary on April 14, 2021.
• Babasaheb Ambedkar's original name is Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar.
• His father Ramji Sakpal was a Subedar in the army and his mother Bhimbai Kapal was a housewife.
• The family settled in Mumbai in 1897 and Babasaheb enrolled at Elphinstone High School. After matriculation, he took admission to Elphinstone College in 1907.
• He graduated from Bombay University in 1912 with a degree in Economics and Political Science. Babasaheb Ambedkar was a renowned social reformer and a Dalit icon, he spoke unequivocally against the inequality, injustice, and discrimination faced by the members of the Dalit community.
• Babasaheb Ambedkar died on December 6 in 1956. In 1990, he was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award.

Maharashtra: Amboli named as biodiversity heritage site

• The Maharashtra government has declared an area at Amboli in Western ghats in Sindhudurg district, where a rare freshwater fish species was discovered, as a biodiversity heritage site. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray”s son Tejas Thackeray, who is a wildlife researcher, and his team had discovered the new freshwater fish species – Schistura Hiranyakeshi” near Amboli in Sawantwadi tehsil of Sindhudurg district. The State government issued a notification declaring the area at Amboli as a biodiversity heritage site. Schistura is a small and colourful fish that lives in water and streams in an abundance of oxygen.
• Earlier, the State government had declared the Glory of Allapalli in Gadchiroli district, Landor Khori Park in Jalgaon, Ganesh Khind in Pune, myristica swamp vegetation in Sindhudurg district as biodiversity heritage sites. The discoveries of the freshwater fish species were published in the International Journal of Ichthyology in the October 2020 edition by Tejas Thackeray and co-authors.

Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam in Uttar Pradesh lists itself at BSE

• Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam listed itself at BSE and successfully raised Rs. 150 Crores by issuing Municipal Bond on Private Placement Basis using BSE BOND. This is the first-ever green bond issuance by any Municipal Corporation in the country. The money will be used for the construction of a tertiary sewage treatment plant at Indirapuram in Ghaziabad. The money will be used to fund the project partly which is worth Rs 240 crore. This treatment plant will enable the sewage water to be used for industries after treatment.
• Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam is the second Municipal Corporation to raise funds in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, Lucknow Municipal Corporation had listed itself at BSE.

4th batch of three Rafale fighter jets land in India

• The fourth batch of three Rafale fighter jets landed in India after flying non-stop from Istres Air Base France, in a further boost to the strike capability of the Indian Air Force (IAF). The Rafale fighter jets were provided mid-air refuelling by air force tankers of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
• The three Rafale fighter aircraft which took off from France for India were scheduled to land at the Jamnagar airbase. The planes equipped with the Hammer missiles have enhanced their capability to carry out air-to-ground strikes like the one in Balakot.

Centre withdraws order cutting interest rates on small savings schemes

• The government has withdrawn its order slashing interest rates on small savings schemes, including National Savings Certificates (NSC) and Public Provident Fund (PPF), for the first quarter of 2021-22. Earlier on March 31, 2021, the Finance Ministry had announced a sharp cut in interest rates for small savings schemes by 50-110 basis points. Interest rates for small savings schemes are notified on a quarterly basis.
• However, the orders issued were withdrawn by the government on April 01, 2021. This marks the fourth consecutive quarter that the government has maintained the rates on such schemes that are effective from April 1 and remain in effect till June 30, 2021.

India ranks 140th in WEF’s gender gap index 2021

• India has slipped 28 places to rank 140 among 156 countries in the Global Gender Gap Report 2021, by World Economic Forum. In 2020, India ranked 112th among 153 countries. Iceland has topped the index as the most gender-equal country in the world for the 12th time. Afghanistan is the worst-performing country in the report.

South Asia:

• India emerged as the third-worst performing country in South Asia.
• Bangladesh is the best performer in South Asia.
• Among India’s neighbours, Bangladesh ranked 65, Nepal 106, Pakistan 153, Afghanistan 156, Bhutan 130 and Sri Lanka 116.
• In South Asia, only Pakistan and Afghanistan ranked below India.

Global Gender Gap Report

• The Global Gender Gap Report 2021 is the 15th edition of the annual publication by WEF.
• The Global Gender Gap Index was first introduced by the World Economic Forum in 2006 to compare countries’ gender gaps across four dimensions: economic opportunities, education, health and political leadership.

GST revenue collection in March 2021

• India’s economic recovery is gathering steam. The GST collections for the month of March have topped Rs 1.23 lakh crore, setting a new record since the implementation of Goods and Services Tax in July 2017. The gross GST revenue collected in the month of March 2021 rose to a record of Rs. 1,23,902 crore of which CGST is Rs. 22,973 crore, SGST is Rs. 29,329 crore, IGST is Rs. 62,842 crore and Cess is Rs. 8,757 crore.

Facebook and Google to build new cables under the sea called ‘Echo’ and ‘Bifrost’

• Facebook and Google are planning to build new subsea cables from the US to Singapore and Indonesia. Facebook has partnered with leading regional and global partners to build two new subsea cables Echo and Bifrost that will provide vital new connections between the Asia-Pacific region and North America. While Google is only investing in Echo. These cables will increase overall transpacific capacity by 70 per cent.
• These projects are still subject to regulatory approvals, when completed, these cables are expected to deliver much-needed Internet capacity, redundancy, and reliability. The announcements come at a time when the Covid-19 pandemic has increased the need for reliable Internet access.

UNESCAP: India’s Economic Growth Of 7% in 2021-22

• The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) said in the latest update that, India’s is estimated to record economic growth of 7% in 2021-22, over a contraction of 7.7% witnessed in the previous fiscal on account of the pandemic’s impact on normal business activity.
• It also noted that maintaining low borrowing costs while keeping non-performing loans in check would be a challenge.

Paytm Money opens new R&D centre in Pune

• Online investment platform Paytm Money has set up a new R&D facility in Pune, Maharashtra, which will drive product innovation, especially in the area of equity, mutual funds, and digital gold. The company added that it plans to hire over 250 engineers and data scientists to build new wealth products and services.
• Paytm Money aims to achieve over 10 million users and 75 million yearly transactions in FY21, with the majority of users coming from small cities and towns.
