मालदीव के अब्दुल्ला शाहिद ने 76वें UNGA की अध्यक्षता जीती, मालदीव UNGA में अध्यक्ष होगा

• मालदीव के विदेश मंत्री अब्दुल्ला शाहिद ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा (UNGA) के 76वें सत्र की अध्यक्षता जीती। यह संयुक्त राष्ट्र इतिहास में पहली बार है, मालदीव UNGA में राष्ट्रपति का पद संभालेगा। UNGA के राष्ट्रपति चुनाव में अब्दुल्ला शाहिद की जीत एक "गर्व की उपलब्धि" और "वैश्विक मंच पर देश के कद को ऊपर उठाने में एक कदम" है।

• भारत और इंडोनेशिया के बीच CORPAT का 36वां संस्करण 30 और 31 जुलाई 2021 को हिंद महासागर क्षेत्र में आयोजित किया जा रहा है। भारतीय नौसेना जहाज (आईएनएस) सरयू, एक स्वदेश निर्मित अपतटीय गश्ती पोत और इंडोनेशियाई नौसेना जहाज केआरआई बंग टोमो समन्वित गश्त (कॉर्पैट) कर रहा है।
• इसके अलावा, दोनों देशों के समुद्री गश्ती विमान भी भाग ले रहे हैं। अभ्यास को C-19 महामारी के मद्देनजर 'गैर-संपर्क, समुद्र में केवल' अभ्यास के रूप में आयोजित किया जा रहा है। भारत और इंडोनेशिया वर्ष 2002 से वर्ष में दो बार अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समुद्री सीमा रेखा (आईएमबीएल) के साथ समन्वित गश्त का आयोजन कर रहे हैं।

• राष्ट्रीय बाघ संरक्षण प्राधिकरण (एनटीसीए) ने बाघों और जंगलों की रक्षा में उनके प्रयासों के लिए 'बाघरक्षकों' को मान्यता दी। कार्यक्रम के दौरान एनटीसीए का त्रैमासिक न्यूजलेटर स्ट्राइप्स भी जारी किया गया।

इंटेल ने केंद्रीय माध्यमिक शिक्षा बोर्ड के सहयोग से 'एआई फॉर ऑल' पहल शुरू की

• इंटेल ने केंद्रीय माध्यमिक शिक्षा बोर्ड (CBSE), शिक्षा मंत्रालय के सहयोग से भारत में सभी के लिए कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता (artificial intelligence- AI) की बुनियादी समझ पैदा करने के उद्देश्य से एआई फॉर ऑल पहल शुरू करने की घोषणा की।
• इंटेल के एआई फॉर सिटिजन्स प्रोग्राम (AI For Citizens program) पर आधारित, एआई फॉर ऑल एक 4 घंटे का, स्व-गतिशील शिक्षण कार्यक्रम है जो एआई को समावेशी तरीके से नष्ट करता है। यह एक छात्र पर लागू होता है, माता-पिता के घर में रहने के लिए यह किसी भी क्षेत्र में एक पेशेवर या यहां तक कि एक वरिष्ठ नागरिक के लिए भी है। कार्यक्रम का लक्ष्य एआई (AI) को अपने पहले वर्ष में 10 लाख नागरिकों तक पहुंचाना है। इंटेल में भागीदारी और पहल करना।

• वंतिका अग्रवाल ने राष्ट्रीय महिला ऑनलाइन शतरंज का खिताब जीता है। उसने 11 राउंड से 9.5 अंक हासिल किए। प्रतियोगिता में पश्चिम बंगाल की अर्पिता मुखर्जी ने दूसरा और तमिलनाडु की श्रीजा शेषाद्रि ने तीसरा स्थान हासिल किया।

• इंग्लैंड और डर्बीशायर के पूर्व गेंदबाज माइक हेंड्रिक का निधन हो गया है। उन्होंने इंग्लैंड की एशेज-श्रृंखला की दो जीत में प्रमुख भूमिका निभाई और 1974 और 1981 के बीच अपने देश के लिए 30 टेस्ट मैचों में 87 विकेट लिए। हेंड्रिक, जिन्होंने 267 प्रथम श्रेणी मैचों में 770 विकेट और 22 एकदिवसीय मैचों (ODIs) में 35 विकेट लिए, वे आयरलैंड के पहले पेशेवर कोच थे।

• विश्व रेंजर दिवस प्रतिवर्ष 31 जुलाई को ड्यूटी के दौरान मारे गए या घायल हुए रेंजरों की याद में और विश्‍व की प्राकृतिक और सांस्कृतिक विरासत की रक्षा के लिए रेंजर्स द्वारा किए गए कार्य का जश्न मनाने के लिए मनाया जाता है। विश्व रेंजर दिवस उनके महत्वपूर्ण कार्यों का समर्थन करने का अवसर प्रदान करता है, जो पर्यावरण अभियान से लेकर शिक्षा तक है। यह दिन ड्यूटी के दौरान अपनी जान गंवाने वाले रेंजरों को श्रद्धांजलि देने का भी एक अवसर है।

• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मित्रता दिवस 30 जुलाई को विश्व स्तर पर मनाया जाता है। यह दिन जीवन में दोस्तों और दोस्ती के महत्व को चिह्नित करने के लिए मनाया जाता है। यह दिन उस भूमिका की भी वकालत करता है जो दोस्ती विश्‍व भर में कई संस्कृतियों में शांति को बढ़ावा देने का कार्य करती है।
• 2011 में, संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने नस्ल (race), रंग (colour), लिंग (gender), धर्म (religion) आदि के बावजूद विभिन्न देशों के लोगों की दोस्ती का एक मजबूत बंधन बनाने के उद्देश्य से अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मित्रता दिवस की घोषणा की। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मित्रता दिवस एक पहल है जो यूनेस्को (UNESCO) द्वारा शांति की संस्कृति को मूल्यों (values), दृष्टिकोणों (attitudes) और व्यवहारों (behaviours) के एक समूह के रूप में परिभाषित करने के प्रस्ताव पर आधारित है जो हिंसा को अस्वीकार करते हैं और समस्याओं को हल करने की दृष्टि से उनके मूल कारणों को संबोधित करके संघर्षों को रोकने का प्रयास करते हैं। इसके बाद 1997 में संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा द्वारा इसे अपनाया गया।

बैंकिंग और अर्थव्यवस्था

आरबीआई ने मडगांव अर्बन को-ऑपरेटिव बैंक लिमिटेड मडगांव का लाइसेंस रद्द किया

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने मडगाम अर्बन को-ऑपरेटिव बैंक लिमिटेड, मडगांव, गोवा का लाइसेंस रद्द कर दिया है, क्योंकि बैंक अपनी वर्तमान वित्तीय स्थिति के साथ अपने वर्तमान जमाकर्ताओं को पूरा भुगतान करने में असमर्थ होगा। आरबीआई के अनुसार, बैंक द्वारा जमा किए गए आंकड़ों के अनुसार, लगभग 99 प्रतिशत जमाकर्ताओं को जमा बीमा और क्रेडिट गारंटी निगम (DICGC) से उनकी जमा राशि की पूरी राशि प्राप्त होगी। बैंक ने 29 जुलाई, 2021 को कारोबार की समाप्ति से बैंकिंग कारोबार करना बंद कर दिया है।
• सहकारी समितियों के रजिस्ट्रार, गोवा से भी बैंक को बंद करने और बैंक के लिए एक परिसमापक नियुक्त करने का आदेश जारी करने का अनुरोध किया गया है। परिसमापन पर, प्रत्येक जमाकर्ता डीआईसीजीसी अधिनियम (DICGC Act), 1961 के प्रावधानों के अधीन, डीआईसीजीसी से पांच लाख रुपये की मौद्रिक सीमा तक अपनी जमा राशि की जमा बीमा दावा राशि प्राप्त करने का हकदार होगा। लाइसेंस रद्द करने और परिसमापन की कार्यवाही शुरू होने के साथ, डीआईसीजीसी अधिनियम, 1961 के अनुसार बैंक के जमाकर्ताओं को भुगतान करने की प्रक्रिया गति में आ जाएगी।

Maldives’ Abdulla Shahid won the Presidency of the 76th UNGA, Maldives will hold the office of President at the UNGA

• FM of Maldives Abdulla Shahid won the Presidency of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). This is for the first time in the history of the United Nations (UN), Maldives will hold the office of President at the UNGA. Abdulla Shahid’s victory at the UNGA Presidential election is a “proud accomplishment” and “a step forward in elevating the country’s stature on the global stage”.
• Maldives’ decision to join the UN in 1965, immediately after its independence, sparked a debate on how a “microstate”, could possibly contribute to the organisation. Over the years, Maldives has cleared all the doubts by raising its voice on issues of concern and playing a prominent role in the UN as well as in the other multilateral organisations including the Commonwealth.

36th edition of CORPAT between India and Indonesia is being held on 30 and 31 July 2021

• The 36th edition of CORPAT between India and Indonesia is being held on 30 and 31 July 2021, in the Indian Ocean region. The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Saryu, an indigenously built Offshore Patrol Vessel and Indonesian Naval Ship KRI Bung Tomo is undertaking coordinated patrol (CORPAT).
• Besides this, Maritime Patrol Aircraft from both nations are also participating. The exercise is being conducted as a ‘non-contact, at sea only’ exercise in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. India and Indonesia have been conducting the Coordinated Patrols along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) since 2002 twice a year.
• The basic aim of CORPAT is to keep the Indian Ocean Region safe and secure for commercial shipping, international trade and conduct of legitimate maritime activities. CORPATs help build understanding and interoperability between navies and facilitate the institution of measures to prevent and suppress Illegal Unreported Unregulated (IUU) fishing, drug trafficking, maritime terrorism, armed robbery and piracy.

14 Tiger Reserves of India get (CA|TS) Recognition on the occasion of International Tiger Day

• From India, 14 tiger reserves have received the accreditation of the Global Conservation Assured Tiger Standards (CA|TS), on the occasion of International Tiger Day on July 29, 2021.
• The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) recognized the ‘BaghRakshaks’ for their efforts in protecting Tigers and forests. The NTCA’s quarterly newsletter STRIPES was also released during the event.

Intel launched ‘AI For All’ initiative in collaboration with Central Board of Secondary Education

• Intel in collaboration with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Ministry of Education, announced the launch of the AI For All initiative with the purpose of creating a basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) for everyone in India.
• Based on Intel’s AI For Citizens program, AI For All is a 4-hour, self-paced learning program that demystifies AI in an inclusive manner. It is as applicable to a student, a stay at home parent as it is to a professional in any field or even a senior citizen. The program aims to introduce AI to 1 million citizens in its first year. Vantika Agarwal Won the national women online chess title with the score of 9.5 points

• Vantika Agarwal has won the National Women Online Chess title. She scored 9.5 points from 11 rounds. Arpita Mukherjee of West Bengal took the second spot and Tamil Nadu’s Sreeja Seshadri secured the third spot in the competition.
• In the absence of over-the-board events due to the ongoing pandemic, the All India Chess Federation has decided to consider the performance of this online event for the selection of players for the Asian individual championship and other events.

OBITUARY

Former England Cricketer Mike Hendrick passed away

• Former England and Derbyshire bowler, Mike Hendrick has passed away. He played a major role in two of England’s Ashes-series victories and took 87 wickets in 30 Tests for his country between 1974 and 1981.
• Hendrick, who took 770 wickets in 267 first-class matches and 35 wickets in 22 ODIs, was also the first professional coach of Ireland.

World Ranger Day 2021: 31st July

• World Ranger Day is observed every year on 31 July to commemorate the Rangers killed or injured while on duty and to celebrate the work that Rangers do to protect the world’s natural and cultural heritage. World Ranger Day offers a chance to support their vital work, which ranges from environmental campaigning to education. The day is also an opportunity to pay tribute to rangers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
• A Ranger is a person tasked with preserving and protecting parklands and natural protected areas. A Ranger typically refers to a forest ranger or a park ranger. It was on this day in 1992 that International Ranger Federation (IRF) was founded. World Ranger Day was created by the International Ranger Federation and was first held in 2007.

International Day of Friendship 2021: 30th July

• International Day of Friendship is observed globally on 30th July. This day is celebrated to mark the importance of friends and friendship in life. The day also advocates the role that friendship plays in promoting peace in several cultures across the world.
• In 2011, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the International Friendship Day with an aim to forge a strong bond of friendship of people of various countries irrespective of race, colour, gender, religion, etc. The International Day of Friendship is an initiative that follows on the proposal made by UNESCO defining the Culture of Peace as a set of values, attitudes and behaviours that reject violence and endeavour to prevent conflicts by addressing their root causes with a view to solving problems. It was then adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1997.

BANKING AND ECONOMY

RBI cancelled licence of Madgaum Urban Co-operative Bank limited Margao

• The Reserve Bank of India has cancelled the licence of Madgaum Urban Co-operative Bank Limited, Margao, Goa, as the bank with its current financial position would be unable to pay its present depositors in full. According to the RBI, as per the data submitted by the bank, about 99 per cent of the depositors will receive full amounts of their deposits from the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC). The bank ceases to carry on banking business with effect from the close of business on July 29, 2021.
• The Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Goa, has also been requested to issue an order for winding up the bank and appoint a liquidator for the bank. On liquidation, every depositor would be entitled to receive deposit insurance claim amount of his/her deposits up to a monetary ceiling of Rs. five lakh from the DICGC subject to the provisions of the DICGC Act, 1961. With the cancellation of licence and commencement of liquidation proceedings, the process of paying the depositors of the bank as per the DICGC Act, 1961 will be set in motion.
