सरकार ने उपभोक्ता अधिकारों की रक्षा और उन्हें लागू करने के लिए प्राधिकरण स्थापित किया

• सरकार ने उपभोक्ताओं के अधिकारों को बढ़ावा देने, उनकी रक्षा करने और उन्हें लागू करने के उद्देश्य से उपभोक्ता संरक्षण अधिनियम, 2019 के तहत केंद्रीय उपभोक्ता संरक्षण प्राधिकरण (CCPA) की स्थापना की है।
• CCPA भारतीय लोक प्रशासन संस्थान (IIPA) के परिसर में अपना कामकाज शुरू करेगा। उपभोक्ता मामलों के विभाग में अतिरिक्त सचिव, निधि खरे को CCPA का मुख्य आयुक्त नियुक्त किया गया है।
• CCPA की स्थापना उपभोक्ता संरक्षण अधिनियम, 2019 की धारा 10 के तहत की गई है, जो 20 जुलाई, 2020 को लागू हुआ। 

NITI Aayog, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation ने AIM iCREST इनक्यूबेटर प्रोग्राम लॉन्च किया

• NITI Aayog के अटल इनोवेशन मिशन (AIM) ने भारत में बड़े पैमाने पर ऊष्मायन पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र को सक्षम करने के लिए नवाचार को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए अपनी तरह की पहली पहल AIM iCREST शुरू की है। AIMiCREST उच्च प्रदर्शन करने वाले स्टार्टअप बनाने पर केंद्रित एक रोबो इकोसिस्टम के लिए एक इनक्यूबेटर क्षमता वृद्धि कार्यक्रम है।
• AIM ने बिल एंड मेलिंडा गेट्स फाउंडेशन और वाधवानी फाउंडेशन के साथ सहयोग किया है, जो उद्यमिता और नवाचार स्थान में विश्वसनीय समर्थन और विशेषज्ञता प्रदान करेगा।
• पहल के तहत, एआईएम के इनक्यूबेटरों को अपग्रेड करने के लिए सेट किया गया है और ऊष्मायन उद्यम अर्थव्यवस्था को बढ़ावा देने के लिए अपेक्षित समर्थन प्रदान किया गया है, जो उन्हें अपने प्रदर्शन को बढ़ाने में मदद करेगा। 

मिजोरम में ग्रीन एजी परियोजना की शुरुआत

• केंद्र सरकार ने 28 जुलाई को मिजोरम में ग्रीन एजी परियोजना की शुरुआत कर दी। यह परियोजना कृषि क्षेत्र में उत्सर्जन कम करने और टिकाऊ कृषि पद्धतियों को सुनिश्चित करने के मकसद से शुरू की गई है।
• मिजोरम उन पांच राज्यों में शामिल है, जहां परियोजना लागू की जानी है। मिजोरम के अलावा राजस्थान, मध्य प्रदेश, ओडिशा और उत्तराखंड इस परियोजना का हिस्सा हैं। इस परियोजना के तहत पांच लैंडस्कैप में 1.8 मिलियन हेक्टेयर भूमि आएगी। लक्ष्य के मुताबिक, कम से कम 1,04,070 हेक्टेयर कृषि भूमि टिकाऊ विकास और जल प्रबंधन के लिए विकसित की जाएगी। उम्मीद है कि कृषि की सतत विकास की पद्धतियों से 49 मिलियन कार्बन डाईऑक्साइड के बराबर उत्सर्जन कम होगा।
• ग्रीन एजी परियोजना को ग्लोबल एनवायरमेंट फैसिलिटी द्वारा वित्त पोषित किया गया है। कृषि, सहकारिता एवं किसान कल्याण विभाग (डीएसीएंडएफडब्ल्यू) पर इस परियोजना को क्रियान्वित कराने की जिम्मेदारी है। खाद्य एवं कृषि संगठन (एफएओ) और पर्यावरण, वन एवं जलवायु परिवर्तन मंत्रालय भी इसे लागू करने में अहम भूमिका निभाएंगे।

 बैंकिंग और अर्थव्यवस्था

C-19 का मुकाबला करने के लिए भारत को USD 3 मिलियन के अनुदान को ADB ने दी मंजूरी

• एशियाई विकास बैंक (ADB) ने C-19 महामारी के प्रति सरकार की आपातकालीन प्रतिक्रिया का समर्थन करने के लिए अपने एशिया प्रशांत आपदा प्रतिक्रिया कोष से भारत को 3 मिलियन अमरीकी डालर (लगभग 22 करोड़ रुपये) के अनुदान को मंजूरी दी है।
• जापानी सरकार द्वारा वित्तपोषित इस अनुदान का उपयोग भारत के C-19 प्रतिक्रिया को मजबूत करने के लिए थर्मल स्कैनर और आवश्यक वस्तुओं की खरीद के लिए किया जाएगा।इस समर्थन से रोग निगरानी को बढ़ावा मिलेगा और early detection, contact tracing व उपचार में मदद मिलेगी

 समझौते और सम्‍मेलन

स्मार्ट ग्रिड प्रौद्योगिकी में PFC ने IIT-कानपुर के साथ समझौते पर किये हस्ताक्षर

• पावर फाइनेंस कॉरपोरेशन (PFC) ने भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान कानपुर के साथ स्मार्ट ग्रिड टेक्नोलॉजी में प्रशिक्षण, अनुसंधान और उद्यमिता विकास (Entrepreneurship Development) के लिए एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं।समझौता एक वर्चुअल प्लेटफार्म पर था. समझौते का उद्देश्य स्मार्ट ग्रिड प्रौद्योगिकी पर अनुसंधान और विकास के लिए बुनियादी ढांचे के विकास में आईआईटी-कानपुर को सहायता प्रदान करना है।
• समझौते के तहत पीएफसी, आईआईटी-कानपुर को 2,38,97000 रुपये की वित्तीय सहायता प्रदान करेगा। परियोजना के हिस्से के रूप में IIT-K 90 प्रतिभागियों को स्मार्ट ग्रिड तकनीक पर प्रशिक्षण प्रदान करेगा और 9 चयनित उम्मीदवारों को फेलोशिप प्रदान करेगा। जिन्हें आईआईटी-कानपुर के स्टार्ट-अप इनोवेशन और इनक्यूबेशन सेंटर द्वारा सहायता प्रदान की जाएगी और उद्यमशीलता की गतिविधियों(entrepreneurial activities) में हिस्सा लेने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया जाएगा 

विज्ञान और तकनीक

नासा ने लॉन्च किया अपना मंगल अभियान; फरवरी 2021 तक मंगल तक पहुँचने की संभावना

• अमेरिका की अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी नासा ने गुरुवार को अभी तक का सबसे बड़ा और वजनी रोवर मंगल ग्रह के लिए रवाना कर दिया। कार के आकार का वाहन 25 कैमरों, दो माइक्रोफोन, ड्रिल मशीन और लेजर उपकरण के साथ लाल ग्रह के लिए भेजा गया है। यह सात महीने में 48 करोड़ किलोमीटर की यात्रा कर फरवरी 2021 में मंगल ग्रह पर पहुंचेगा। यह वहां पर जीवन की संभावना को देखते हुए आवश्यक प्रयोग करेगा और लौटते समय वहां की मार्टियन चट्टान का टुकड़ा भी धरती पर लाएगा। अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी(नासा) का यह मिशन अमेरिकी समयानुसार सुबह 7:50 बजे लांच किया गया है।

दिग्गज बॉलीवुड अभिनेत्री कुमकुम का निधन

• दिग्गज बॉलीवुड अभिनेता कुमकुम का निधन हो गया। उनका असली नाम ज़िबुननिसा था। उन्होंने मदर इंडिया, कोहिनूर, एक सपेरा एक लुटेरा, नया दिल, उजाला, राजा और रनक, लालकर, आंखें, गीत, जैसी 100 से अधिक हिंदी फिल्मों में अभिनय किया है।
• कुमकुम ने 1963 में पहली बार भोजपुरी फिल्म “गंगा मैया तोहे पियरी चढ़ाऊबो” में अभिनय किया था। कुछ लोकप्रिय गीतों में जिसमें कुमकुम ने अभिनय किया उसमें “कभी आर, कभी पार” और “मेरे महबूब क़यामत होगे” शामिल हैं। 

बॉलीवुड के एक्शन डायरेक्टर परवेज खान का निधन

• बॉलीवुड के एक्शन डायरेक्टर परवेज खान का निधन हो गया।वह 1986 से फिल्म उद्योग में काम कर रहे थे। उनकी कुछ प्रसिद्ध फिल्मों में अंधाधुन, बदलापुर, बुलेट राजा, फुकरे, रा-वन, जॉनी गद्दार, विश्वरूपम, विश्वरूपम 2, देव डी, गैंगस्टर, सेहर, अब तक छप्पन, द लीजेंड ऑफ भगत सिंह, सोल्जर, और मिस्टर एंड मिसेज खिलाडी शामिल हैं।

एन. शिवरामन रेटिंग एजेंसी इक्रा(ICRA) के नए सीईओ

• घरेलू रेटिंग एजेंसी इक्रा(ICRA) ने एन. शिवरामन को अपना नया प्रबंध निदेशक और समूह मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी (सीईओ) नियुक्त किया है। एजेंसी ने मंगलवार को यह जानकारी दी। एजेंसी ने एक बयान में बताया कि शिवरामन के पास इंजीनियरिंग क्षेत्र की प्रमुख कंपनी एलएंडटी के साथ 34 साल काम करने का अनुभव है।

मानव तस्करी के खिलाफ विश्व दिवस : 30 जुलाई

• संयुक्त राष्ट्र हर साल 30 जुलाई को मानव तस्करी के खिलाफ विश्व दिवस के रूप में मनाता है। महासभा ने वर्ष 2013 में 30 जुलाई को मानव तस्करी के पीड़ितों की स्थिति के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने और उनके अधिकारों के संवर्धन और संरक्षण के लिए व्यक्तियों में तस्करी के खिलाफ विश्व दिवस के रूप में नामित किया।
• तस्करी के खिलाफ विश्व दिवस के लिए 2020 की थीम: "Committed to the Cause - Working on the Frontline to End Human Trafficking" थीम मानव तस्करी पहले responders अर्थात प्रतिक्रिया देने वालों पर  ध्यान केंद्रित करेगी। वे लोग हैं जो विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में काम करते हैं तस्करी के पीड़ितों के न्याय के लिए पहचान, समर्थन, परामर्श और न्याय की मांग करना और तस्करों की प्रतिरक्षा को चुनौती देने का कार्य करते हैं।

Govt establishes authority to protect and enforce consumer rights

• The government has set up the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), under Consumer Protection Act, 2019 with the objective to promote, protect and enforce the rights of consumers.
• The CCPA will begin its functioning in the premises of Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA).Smt. Nidhi Khare, the Additional Secretary in the Department of Consumer Affairs, has been appointed as the Chief Commissioner of CCPA.
• The CCPA has been set up under the section 10 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, which came into force on 20 July, 2020. 

NITI Aayog, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation launch AIM iCREST incubator program

• NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), has launched AIM iCREST, a first of its kind initiative, for advancing innovation to enable the incubation ecosystem, at scale in India. AIMiCREST is an Incubator Capabilities enhancement program for a Robust Ecosystem focused on creating high performing Startups.
• AIM has collaborated with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Wadhwani Foundation, which will lend credible support and expertise in the entrepreneurship and innovation space.
• Under the initiative, the AIM’s incubators are set to be upscaled and provided requisite support to foster the incubation enterprise economy, that will help them to significantly enhance their performance. 

Green-Ag project launched in Mizoram

• Green-Ag, a project funded by Global Environment Facility (GEF), which aims to catalyze sustainable transformation of Indian agriculture sector without compromising the country’s food security and farmers’ income, has been launched in Mizoram.
• In Mizoram, the project will be implemented in Dampa Tiger Reserve in west Mizorams Mamit district and Thorangtlang Wildlife Sanctuary in Lunglei district in the southern part of the state covering more than 30 villages.
• Mizoram is among five Indian states where the project will be implemented. The other four states are Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.

ADB approves USD 3 million grant to India

• Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved USD 3 million (about Rs 22 crore) grant to India from its Asia Pacific C-19 Response Fund to further support the government’s emergency response to C-19.
• The grant will be used to procure thermal scanners and essential commodities to strengthen India’s C-19 response.

PFC signs agreement with IIT-Kanpur in smart grid technology

• Power Finance Corporation (PFC) has signed an agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology- Kanpur for Training, Research, and Entrepreneurship Development in Smart Grid Technology.
• The agreement was on a virtual platform. The objective of the pact is to provide support to IIT-Kanpur in developing infrastructure for research and development on smart grid technology.
• Under the agreement, PFC will provide financial assistance of worth Rs 2, 38,97000 to IIT-Kanpur.

NASA launches its Mars Mission; to reach Mars by February 2021

• The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has its Mars mission named Mars Perseverance Rover 2020 on July 30. The Mars Rover aims to reach the Red Planet by the year 2021.
• The rover was launched aboard Atlas V-541 in Florida. The Mars Perseverance rover is a robot that will deploy first-ever interplanetary helicopter.

• Veteran Bollywood actor Kumkum passed away. Her real name was Zaibunnissa. She has featured in over 100 Hindi films like Mother India, Kohinoor, Ek Sapera Ek Lootera, Naya Daur, Ujala, Raja Aur Runk, Lalkar, Aankhen, Geet, among others. 

Bollywood action director Parvez Khan passes away

• Bollywood action director, Parvez Khan passed away. He had been working in the film industry since 1986. Some of his well-known films include Andhadhun, Badlapur, Bullett Raja, Fukrey, Ra-One, Johnny Gaddaar etc.

Rating Agency ICRA appoints N. Sivaraman as MD and Group CEO

• The board of directors of Indian credit rating agency ICRA Ltd has appointed N Sivaraman as the Managing Director & CEO of the Company and CEO of ICRA Group for a period of three years with effect from August 10, 2020.
• He will replace Naresh Takkar, whose service was terminated in August 2019 and the post was lying vacant since last one year.

• United Nations observes 30 July every year as World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.The 2020 theme for the World Day against Trafficking: “Committed to the Cause – Working on the Frontline to End Human Trafficking”.
• In 2013, the General Assembly designated July 30 as the World Day against Trafficking in Persons to raise awareness of the situation of victims of human trafficking and for the promotion and protection of their rights.
