इटली के प्रधान मंत्री जुसेपी कोंते ने दिया इस्तीफा

• इटली के प्रधान मंत्री, जुसेपी कोंते (Giuseppe Conte) ने अपना सीनेट बहुमत खोने के बाद इस्तीफा दे देकर, महामारी और मंदी से जूझ रहे देश को राजनीतिक अनिश्चितता में छोड़ दिया। उन्होंने इतालवी राजनीतिक संकटों के अंतिम मध्यस्थ राष्ट्रपति सर्जियो मटारेला को अपना इस्तीफा सौंप दिया, जिन्होंने उन्हें केयरटेकर के तौर पर आगे के कदमों पर चर्चा करने के लिए आमंत्रित किया।
• इटली पहला यूरोपीय देश था जिसने C -19 महामारी की पूरी ताकत का सामना किया था और तब से बुरी तरह से पीड़ित है, अर्थव्यवस्था मंदी की चपेट में आ गई और अब भी रोजोना 400 लोगों की मौत हो रही है। देश के कुछ हिस्से आंशिक लॉकडाउन के तहत हैं, टीकाकरण कार्यक्रम धीमा हो गया है और यूरोपीय संघ के रिकवरी फंडों में अरबों यूरो खर्च करने की योजना पर सहमति बन रही है।

केंद्र ने स्टार्टअप इंडिया सीड फंड स्कीम ’को मंजूरी दी

• केंद्र सरकार ने 945 करोड़ रुपये की स्टार्ट-अप इंडिया सीड फंड स्कीम ’(SISFS) को मंजूरी दे दी है, जिसका उद्देश्य उत्पाद परीक्षण, बाजार-प्रवेश, अवधारणा के प्रमाण, प्रोटोटाइप विकास और नीति के लिए स्टार्ट-अप को वित्तीय सहायता प्रदान करना है।
• 945 करोड़ रुपये की स्टार्टअप इंडिया सीड फंड स्कीम (SISFS) इस वर्ष 1 अप्रैल से 2025 तक चालू हो जाएगी और सरकार द्वारा गजट नोटिफिकेशन के अनुसार, इसे पूरे भारत में चयनित इनक्यूबेटरों के माध्यम से वितरित किया जाएगा। उद्योग और आंतरिक व्यापार संवर्धन विभाग (DIIT) द्वारा इस योजना को लागू किया जाएगा। योजना के तहत धन का चयन देश भर में चयनित इनक्यूबेटरों के माध्यम से किया जाएगा। स्टार्टअप को केवल एक बार बीज समर्थन प्राप्त होगा।
• इनक्यूबेटर योजना के लिए आवेदन की तिथि पर कम से कम दो साल के लिए चालू होना चाहिए।
• इनक्यूबेटर में कम से कम 25 व्यक्तियों को बैठने की सुविधा होनी चाहिए। इनक्यूबेटर के पास आवेदन की तारीख में शारीरिक रूप से ऊष्मायन से कम से कम पांच स्टार्टअप होने चाहिए।
• इनक्यूबेटर के पास पूर्णकालिक मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी होना चाहिए, जो व्यवसाय विकास और उद्यमिता में अनुभवी हो।

 भारत में आयोजित की गई भारत-जापान एक्ट ईस्ट फोरम की 5 वीं संयुक्त बैठक

• भारत-जापान एक्ट ईस्ट फोरम (AEF) की 5 वीं संयुक्त बैठक नई दिल्ली में आयोजित की गई थी। बैठक की अध्यक्षता विदेश सचिव हर्षवर्धन श्रृंगला और भारत में जापान के राजदूत सुजुकी सातोशी (Suzuki Satoshi) ने की।
• AEF ने 5वीं बैठक के दौरान, कनेक्टिविटी, जलविद्युत, सतत विकास, जल संसाधनों के दोहन, और कौशल विकास सहित विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में भारत के उत्तर पूर्वी क्षेत्र में चल रही परियोजनाओं की प्रगति की समीक्षा की गई। उन्होंने स्वास्थ्य सेवा, कृषि-उद्योग और एसएमई, बांस मूल्य श्रृंखला विकास, स्मार्ट सिटी, पर्यटन और लोगों से लोगों के आदान-प्रदान जैसे नए क्षेत्रों में सहयोग पर विचारों का आदान-प्रदान किया।
• AEF की स्थापना साल 2017 में भारत के “Act East Policy” और “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” यानि मुक्त इंडो-पेसिफिक के जापान के दृष्टिकोण दृष्टि के तहत उत्तर-पूर्वी क्षेत्र में भारत-जापान सहयोग के लिए एक मंच प्रदान करने के लिए की गई थी।

 Economic Survey 2021: वर्ष 2021 की आर्थिक समीक्षा की मुख्य बातें

• केन्द्रीय वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने 29 जनवरी 2021 को संसद में आर्थिक समीक्षा, 2020-21 (Economic Survey 2020-21) पेश किया। इस वर्ष की आर्थिक समीक्षा का प्रमुख फोकस कोविड -19 महामारी से हुआ नुकसान और प्रभाव हैं। सर्वेक्षण में यह आकलन किया जाएगा कि भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था घातक C-19 वायरस से कैसे प्रभावित हुई है और यह कैसे सुधर रही है। साथ ही इसमें 2021-22 के लिए भारत के सकल घरेलू उत्पाद विकास का भी अनुमान जारी किया गया है।
• इस साल की आर्थिक समीक्षा को मुख्य आर्थिक सलाहकार कृष्णमूर्ति सुब्रमण्यन के मार्गदर्शन में आर्थिक मामलों के विभाग (DEA) के अर्थशास्त्र प्रभाग द्वारा तैयार किया गया है। आर्थिक समीक्षा 2020-21 के बाद 1 फरवरी को केंद्रीय बजट 2020-21 पेश किया जाएगा।

 भारत की "वैक्सीन मैत्री" पहल शुरू

• वैक्सीन मैत्री पहल, भारत द्वारा पड़ोसी देशों को COVID-19 टीके प्रदान करने की पहल है। हाल ही में, श्रीलंका और बहरीन ने पहल के तहत भारत से COVID-19 टीके प्राप्त किए हैं। भारत द्वारा पड़ोसी देशों को COVID-19 टीके प्रदान करने के लिए वैक्सीन मैत्री पहल 20 जनवरी को शुरू की गई थी।
• श्रीलंका को "वैक्सीन मैत्री" पहल के एक भाग के रूप में भारत से 5 लाख Covid-19 टीके मिले हैं।
• वैक्सीन की खेप बहरीन में भी भेजी गई है। देश को पहल के तहत 10,800 टीके मिलेंगे।
• भारत ने पहल के तहत श्रीलंका और बहरीन से पहले पड़ोस के सात देशों को 5 मिलियन से अधिक खुराक दी है।
• 7 देश हैं- मालदीव (100,000 टीके), भूटान (150,000 टीके), नेपाल (1 मिलियन टीके), बांग्लादेश (2 मिलियन टीके), म्यांमार (1.5 मिलियन टीके), मॉरीशस (100,000 टीके), और सेशेल्स (50,000 टीके) है।
• कोविशिल्ड की वाणिज्यिक आपूर्ति मोरक्को, ब्राजील, (प्रत्येक 2 मिलियन खुराक), और बांग्लादेश (5 मिलियन खुराक) को भी भेजी गई है।
• भारत में C-19 टीकाकरण कार्यक्रम 16 जनवरी, 2021 को दो स्वीकृत टीकों (आपातकालीन-उपयोग) - कोविशिल्ड और कोवाक्सिन के साथ शुरू हुआ। पहले चरण में स्वास्थ्य कार्यकर्ताओं और 50 वर्ष से ऊपर के लोगों का टीकाकरण किया जा रहा है।

 नियुक्ति एवं इस्‍तीफे

स्वामीनाथन जानकीरमन और अश्विनी कुमार तिवारी बने एसबीआई के एमडी

• मंत्रिमंडल की नियुक्ति समिति (ACC) ने तीन साल की अवधि के लिए भारतीय स्टेट बैंक (SBI) के नए प्रबंध निदेशक (MD) के रूप में स्वामीनाथन जानकीरमन और अश्विनी कुमार तिवारी की नियुक्ति को मंजूरी दे दी है। इससे पहले, स्वामीनाथन जानकीरमन एसबीआई में डिप्टी मैनेजिंग डायरेक्टर (फाइनेंस) थे और अश्विनी कुमार तिवारी एसबीआई के सहायक, एसबीआई कार्ड के एमडी और सीईओ थे।
• SBI के एक अध्यक्ष और चार प्रबंध निदेशक हैं। दिनेश कुमार खारा बैंक के वर्तमान अध्यक्ष हैं। बैंक के अन्य दो एमडी सी.एस. सेट्टी और अश्वनी भाटिया हैं। दोनों पद अक्टूबर 2020 से खाली थे।

 लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल चंडी प्रसाद मोहंती नए सेना उपाध्यक्ष के रूप में नियुक्त

• लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल चंडी प्रसाद मोहंती को नए उप सेना प्रमुख के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है। वह लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल एसके सैनी से 1 फरवरी, 2021 को पद ग्रहण करेंगे, जो 31 जनवरी 2021 को सेवानिवृत्त हो रहे है। लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल सीपी मोहंती राष्ट्रीय भारतीय सैन्य कॉलेज, देहरादून और राष्ट्रीय रक्षा अकादमी के पूर्व छात्र हैं। वे राजपूत रेजिमेंट से 1982 बैच के इन्फैंट्री ऑफिसर हैं।
• उप सेना प्रमुख भारतीय सेना का दूसरा सबसे अधिक श्रेणी का अधिकारी होता है। कार्यालय एक वरिष्ठ अधिकारी द्वारा लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल के पद पर रखा गया है।

73 वां शहीद दिवस: 30 जनवरी

• हर साल 30 जनवरी को महात्मा गांधी की स्मृति में शहीद दिवस या Martyr's Day मनाया जाता है, जिनकी 1948 में नाथूराम गोडसे द्वारा बिड़ला हाउस में हत्या कर दी गई थी। भारत की स्वतंत्रता के संघर्ष में स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों द्वारा किए गए बलिदानों को याद करने और उनके प्रति हमारे सम्मान को दर्शाने के लिए दिन मनाया जाता है।
• इसके अलावा ध्यान देने वाली बात यह भी है कि 23 मार्च को भगत सिंह, शिवराम राजगुरु और सुखदेव थापर के सम्मान में भारत में शहीद दिवस मनाया जाता है, जिन्हें 1931 में इसी दिन फांसी लगा दी गई थी।

• वैश्विक स्तर पर सबसे मजबूत ब्रांडों की ब्रांड वित्त की वैश्विक 500 रैंकिंग, जिसने ब्रांडों की सापेक्ष शक्ति निर्धारित की, सबसे मूल्यवान और मजबूत वैश्विक ब्रांडों पर अपनी वार्षिक रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, WeChat सबसे ऊपर है।

• ऑस्ट्रेलिया स्थित लोवी इंस्टीट्यूट द्वारा जारी किए गए नए कोरोनावायरस प्रदर्शन सूचकांक में 98 देशों में से भारत को 86 वें स्थान पर रखा गया है। Covid -19 प्रतिक्रिया पर सार्वजनिक रूप से उपलब्ध और तुलनीय आंकड़ों के आधार पर देशों को स्थान दिया गया था। द लोवी इंस्टीट्यूट सिडनी में स्थित एक स्वतंत्र अंतर्राष्ट्रीय नीति थिंक टैंक है।
• सूचकांक में क्रमशः न्यूजीलैंड, वियतनाम और ताइवान शीर्ष तीन देश हैं। किसी भी अन्य देश की तुलना में महामारी की सबसे ख़राब हैंडलिंग के लिए ब्राज़ील सूची में सबसे नीचे स्थान पर रहा। सार्वजनिक रूप से उपलब्ध डेटा की कमी के कारण चीन को सूची से बाहर रखा गया था।

भारती एक्सा जनरल इंश्योरेंस ने किसानों के लिए लॉन्च की 'कृषि सखा' ऐप

• भारती एक्सा जनरल इंश्योरेंस ने भारतीय किसानों के लिए वन-स्टॉप शॉप, कृषि सखा ऐप लॉन्च किया है, जो उन्हें अपनी दैनिक खेती की जरूरतों को पूरा करने के लिए प्रासंगिक जानकारी प्रदान करता है। यह किसानों को सर्वोत्तम कृषि पद्धतियों को अपनाने और उनकी उत्पादकता बढ़ाने के लिए मार्गदर्शन भी प्रदान करता है। इस ऐप के माध्यम से किसानों को फसल बीमा से संबंधित जानकारी के लिए प्रधानमंत्री फसल बीमा योजना (PMFBY) पोर्टल तक पहुंच भी प्राप्त होगी।

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte resigns

• Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte resigned after losing his Senate majority, plunging the country into political uncertainty just as it’s battling the pandemic and a recession. He tendered his resignation to President Sergio Mattarella, the ultimate arbiter of Italian political crises, who invited him to stay on in a caretaker capacity pending discussions on what happens next.
• Italy was the first European country to face the full force of the Covid-19 pandemic and has since suffered badly, with the economy plunged into recession and deaths still rising by around 400 a day. Parts of the country remain under partial lockdown, the vaccination programme has slowed and a deadline is looming to agree on plans to spend billions of euros in European Union recovery funds.

Centre Approves ‘Startup India Seed Fund Scheme’

• The Central Government has approved the Rs 945-crore ‘Start-up India Seed Fund Scheme’ (SISFS), which aims to provide financial assistance to start-ups for the product trials, market-entry, proof of concept, prototype development and commercialization.
• The Rs 945 crore Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS) will become operational from April 1 of this year till 2025 and this will be disbursed through selected incubators across India, according to a gazette notification by the government. The scheme will be implemented by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DIIT). The funds under the scheme will be disbursed through the selected incubators across the country. The startup will receive seed support only once.
• The incubator should be operational for at least two years on the date of application to the scheme.
• The incubator must have facilities to seat at least 25 individuals. The incubator must have at least five startups undergoing incubation physically on the date of application.
• The incubator must have a full-time Chief Executive Officer, experienced in business development and entrepreneurship.

 5th Joint Meeting of the India-Japan Act East Forum

• The 5th joint meeting of the India-Japan Act East Forum (AEF) was held in New Delhi. The meeting was co-chaired by Foreign Secretary Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla, and Suzuki Satoshi, Ambassador of Japan to India.
• During the 5th meeting, the AEF reviewed the progress of ongoing projects in the North Eastern Region of India in various areas including connectivity, hydropower, sustainable development, harnessing of water resources, and skill development. They also exchanged views on cooperation in new areas such as healthcare, agro-industries and SMEs, bamboo value chain development, smart city, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
• The AEF was established in 2017 to provide a platform for India-Japan collaboration in the North Eastern Region under India’s “Act East Policy” and Japan’s vision for a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”.

 Economic Survey 2021: Key highlights of Economic Survey

• Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman has presented Economic Survey 2020-21 in the Parliament on 29 January 2021. The major focus of this year’s economic survey is the losses and impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The survey will provide an assessment of how the Indian economy has been impacted by the deadly COVID-19 virus and how it is improving. It will also project India’s gross domestic product growth for 2021-22.
• The Economic Survey document is prepared by the Economics Division of the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) under the guidance of the Chief Economic Advisor Krishnamurthy Subramanian. The Economic Survey 2020-21 will be followed by the Union Budget 2020-21 which will be tabled on February 1.

 India’s “Vaccine Maitri” Initiative begins

• Vaccine Maitri Initiative is an initiative launched by India to gift COVID-19 vaccines to neighbouring countries. Recently, Sri Lanka and Bahrain have received the COVID-19 vaccines from India under the initiative. The Vaccine Maitri initiative was launched by India on January 20 to gift COVID-19 vaccines to neighbouring countries.
• Sri Lanka has received 5 lakh Covid-19 vaccines from India as a part of the “Vaccine Maitri” initiative.
• Consignment of vaccines has also been sent to Bahrain. The country will receive 10,800 vaccines under the initiative.
• India has already delivered over 5 million doses to seven countries in the neighbourhood under the initiative before Sri Lanka and Bahrain.
• The 7 countries are- the Maldives (100,000 vaccines), Bhutan (150,000 vaccines), Nepal (1 million vaccines), Bangladesh (2 million vaccines), Myanmar (1.5 million vaccines), Mauritius (100,000 vaccines), and Seychelles (50,000 vaccines).
• Commercial supplies of Covishield have also been sent to Morocco, Brazil, (2 million doses each), and Bangladesh (5 million doses).

 APPOINTMENTS AND RESIGNATIONS

Swaminathan Janakiraman and Aswini Kumar Tewari appointed as MDs of SBI

• The appointments committee (ACC) of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Swaminathan Janakiraman and Ashwini Kumar Tewari as new Managing Directors (MDs) of State Bank of India (SBI) for a period of three years. Prior to this, Swaminathan Janakiraman was the deputy managing director (Finance) at SBI and Ashwini Kumar Tewari was serving as MD & CEO of SBI Card, a subsidiary of SBI.
• SBI is headed by a Chairman and four managing directors. Dinesh Kumar Khara is the current Chairman of the bank. The other two MDs of the bank are C.S. Setty and Ashwani Bhatia. The two posts were vacant since October 2020.

 Lt Gen Chandi Prasad Mohanty appointed as new Army Vice-Chief

• Lieutenant General Chandi Prasad Mohanty has been appointed as the new Vice-chief of Army staff. He would assume the office on February 1, 2021, from Lt General SK Saini, who is superannuating on 31 January 2021. Lt General CP Mohanty is an alumnus of Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun, and National Defence Academy. He is a June 1982 batch Infantry Officer from the Rajput Regiment.
• Vice-Chief of Army Staff is the deputy head and the second-highest-ranking officer of the Indian Army. The position is held by the senior officer in the rank of Lt-General, of the Commander in Chief grade.

73rd Martyrs’ Day observed on 30 January

• Martyr’s Day or Shaheed Diwas is observed every year on January 30 in the memory of Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated at Gandhi Smriti in the Birla House by Nathuram Godse in 1948. The day is observed to remember the sacrifices made by freedom fighters in the struggle for India’s independence and to pay our respects to them.
• Notably, Martyrs’ Day is also observed in India on March 23 to pay respect to Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar, who was hanged death on this day in 1931.

Reliance Jio ranked 5th strongest brand globally

• Billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s four-year-old telecom venture Reliance Jio has been ranked the fifth strongest brand globally behind the likes of Ferrari and Coca-Cola. As per the ranking, Reliance Jio has emerged as the 5th strongest brand in the world. Reliance Jio has made its entry to the world’s strongest brands. Reliance has been ranked as the 5th strongest brand in the world. It has a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 91.7 out of 100.
• The Brand Finance’s Global 500 ranking of the strongest brands globally, which determined the relative strength of brands, is topped by WeChat, according to its annual report on most valuable and strongest global brands.
• As per the Brand Finance Global 500 2021 ranking, Apple has been named as the most valuable brand in the world.
• The brand value of the company is US$263.4 billion. Amazon is the second most valuable brand followed by Google.
• TATA has retained its spot as the most valuable brand of India. It has been placed at the 77th position globally and has a brand value of US$21.3 billion.
• WeChat is the strongest brand in the world with a BSI score of 95.4. WeChat has surpassed Ferrari to rank as the strongest brand.
• Ferrari is the 2nd strongest brand in the world.
• Russian bank Sber and Coca-Cola are the 3rd and 4th strongest brands respectively.

India Ranks 86 among 98 Countries in Lowy Institute’s Covid-19 Response Index

• India has been ranked at 86th position among 98 countries in the new Coronavirus Performance Index released by Australia-based Lowy Institute. Countries were ranked based on the publicly available and comparable data on Covid-19 response. The Lowy Institute is an independent international policy think tank, located in Sydney.
• New Zealand, Vietnam and Taiwan are the top three countries respectively in the index. Brazil was ranked at the bottom of the list for worst handling of the pandemic than any other country. China was excluded from the list due to lack of publicly available data.

Bharti AXA General Insurance launches ‘Krishi Sakha’ App for farmers

• Bharti AXA General Insurance has launched Krishi Sakha App, a one-stop-shop for Indian farmers that offers them relevant information to cater to their daily farming needs. It also provides guidance to farmers to adopt best farming practices and enhance their productivity. The farmers through this app will also have access to the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) portal for crop insurance-related information.
