फेसबुक का नाम बदलकर मेटा

• फेसबुक को अब मेटा कहा जाएगा, एक रीब्रांड में जो "मेटावर्स" के निर्माण पर ध्यान केंद्रित करता है, एक साझा आभासी वातावरण जो यह दावा करता कि वह मोबाइल इंटरनेट का उत्तराधिकारी होगा। नाम परिवर्तन, जिस योजना के लिए सबसे पहले वर्ज द्वारा रिपोर्ट की गई थी, वह फेसबुक के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण रीब्रांड है, लेकिन यह पहला नहीं है। 2019 में इसने कंपनी और उसके सोशल ऐप के बीच अंतर पैदा करने के लिए एक नया लोगो लॉन्च किया।

इंडो-पैसिफिक रीजनल डायलॉग शुरू

• 27, 28 और 29 अक्टूबर 2021 को तीन दिवसीय ऑनलाइन कार्यक्रम के रूप में इंडो-पैसिफिक रीजनल डायलॉग (IPRD) 2021 का आयोजन किया जा रहा है। IPRD 2021 '21 वीं सदी के दौरान समुद्री रणनीति में विकास: अनिवार्यता, चुनौतियां और आगे का रास्ता' विषय पर केंद्रित होगा। यह आठ विशिष्ट उप-विषयों पर ध्यान केंद्रित करेगा।
• नेशनल मैरीटाइम फाउंडेशन आईपीआरडी 2021 के लिए भारतीय नौसेना का नॉलेज पार्टनर है। यह IPRD 2021 के लिए भारतीय नौसेना का मुख्य आयोजक भी है।

18वें आसियान-भारत शिखर सम्मेलन में भाग लेंगे पीएम मोदी

• भारत के प्रधान मंत्री, नरेंद्र मोदी ने दक्षिण पूर्व एशियाई राष्ट्रों के 18वें संघ (आसियान)-भारत शिखर सम्मेलन में वस्तुतः भाग लिया। यह 9वां आसियान-भारत शिखर सम्मेलन था जिसमें पीएम मोदी ने भाग लिया था। शिखर सम्मेलन ब्रुनेई के सुल्तान की अध्यक्षता में आयोजित किया गया था।
• आसियान देशों के राष्ट्राध्यक्षों/शासनाध्यक्षों ने आसियान-भारत सामरिक साझेदारी की स्थिति और C-19 और स्वास्थ्य, व्यापार और वाणिज्य, कनेक्टिविटी, और शिक्षा और संस्कृति के प्रमुख क्षेत्रों में हुई प्रगति की समीक्षा के लिए शिखर सम्मेलन में भाग लिया। वर्ष 2022 आसियान-भारत संबंध साझेदारी के 30 वर्ष पूरे करेगा और इसे 'आसियान-भारत मैत्री वर्ष' के रूप में मनाया जाएगा।

रक्षा मंत्री श्री राजनाथ सिंह ने डेफएक्सपो 2022 के लिए राजदूतों के गोलमेज की अध्यक्षता की

• मित्र देशों के साथ-साथ विश्‍व के रक्षा निर्माण उद्योगों के लिए एक प्रमुख आउटरीच में, रक्षा मंत्री, राजनाथ सिंह ने नई दिल्ली में डेफ एक्सपो 2022 के लिए राजदूतों के राउंड टेबल की अध्यक्षता की। DefExpo 2022 एशिया की सबसे बड़ी रक्षा प्रदर्शनी होगी। राउंड टेबल का उद्देश्य विदेशी मिशनों के राजदूतों को डेफएक्सपो 2022 की योजना, व्यवस्था और अन्य विवरणों के बारे में जानकारी देना था, जो 10-13 मार्च, 2022 के बीच गुजरात के गांधीनगर में आयोजित किया जाएगा।
• राजदूतों, मिशनों के प्रमुखों और रक्षा संलग्नकों सहित 200 से अधिक प्रतिनिधियों ने राउंड टेबल में भाग लिया, जो भारतीय रक्षा क्षेत्र में बढ़ती वैश्विक रुचि को दर्शाता है। इस अवसर पर चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस स्टाफ जनरल बिपिन रावत, चीफ ऑफ एयर स्टाफ एयर चीफ मार्शल वीआर चौधरी, सचिव (रक्षा उत्पादन) श्री राज कुमार और रक्षा मंत्रालय और गुजरात सरकार के अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारी भी उपस्थित थे।

विज्ञान एवं तकनिक

भारत ने परमाणु सक्षम अग्नि-V बैलिस्टिक मिसाइल का सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण किया

• हाल ही में रक्षा अनुसंधान एवं विकास संगठन (DRDO) ने सतह से सतह पर मार करने वाली बैलिस्टिक मिसाइल अग्नि-5 (Agni-5) का सफल परीक्षण किया है। परीक्षण-फायरिंग 27 अक्टूबर, 2021 को ओडिशा के एपीजे अब्दुल कलाम द्वीप से शाम लगभग 7:50 बजे की गई थी। अग्नि-5 एक परमाणु सक्षम अंतरमहाद्वीपीय बैलिस्टिक मिसाइल (ICBM) है, जो तीन चरणों वाले ठोस-ईंधन वाले इंजन का उपयोग करती है।
• भारत के रक्षा मंत्रालय ने कहा कि अग्नि -5 का सफल परीक्षण विश्वसनीय न्यूनतम प्रतिरोधक क्षमता रखने की भारत की घोषित नीति के अनुरूप है जो 'नो फर्स्ट यूज' की प्रतिबद्धता को रेखांकित करता है। मिसाइल का पांच बार सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण किया जा चुका है और यह सेना में शामिल होने की प्रक्रिया में है। सतह से सतह पर मार करने वाली बैलिस्टिक मिसाइल अग्नि-5 का सफल परीक्षण भी पूर्वी लद्दाख में चीन के साथ जारी सीमा गतिरोध के बीच आ गया है।

अनीता आनंद कनाडा की रक्षा मंत्री बनने वाली दूसरी महिला

• भारत-कनाडाई अनीता आनंद कनाडा की राष्ट्रीय रक्षा मंत्री नियुक्त होने वाली दूसरी महिला बन गईं क्योंकि प्रधान मंत्री जस्टिन ट्रूडो ने अपने नए मंत्रिमंडल की घोषणा की। ओटावा के रिड्यू हॉल में एक समारोह में गवर्नर-जनरल मैरी मे साइमन ने मंत्रियों को शपथ दिलाई। वह 1990 के दशक में किम कैंपबेल के बाद रक्षा मंत्री के रूप में सेवा करने वाली पहली महिला हैं।

एसएमबी नियोबैंक फ्लोबिज ने मनोज बाजपेयी को माईबिलबुक का ब्रांड एंबेसडर बनाया

• भारतीय छोटे से मध्यम आकार के व्यवसायों (SMBs) के लिए एक नियोबैंक फ्लोबिज़ ने पद्म श्री पुरस्कार विजेता अभिनेता मनोज बाजपेयी को अपने प्रमुख उत्पाद के लिए ब्रांड एंबेसडर के रूप में घोषित किया। वह डिजिटल समाधानों के महत्व को चिह्नित करने के लिए ''बिजनेस को ले सीरियसली'' अभियान को बढ़ावा देंगे। उन्होंने SMB क्षेत्र में माईबिलबुक की पहुंच को तेज करने और GST (गुड्स एंड सर्विसेज टैक्स) बिलिंग और अकाउंटिंग सॉफ्टवेयर का उपयोग करने में आसान माईबिलबुक को अपनाने को बढ़ावा देने के लिए हस्ताक्षर किए हैं।

के वी कामथ को एनएबीएफआईडी का अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया गया

• भारत सरकार ने के वी कामथ को नेशनल बैंक फॉर फाइनेंसिंग इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर एंड डेवलपमेंट (एनएबीएफआईडी) के अध्यक्ष के रूप में नियुक्त किया है। वह भारत में एक प्रसिद्ध बैंकर हैं और न्यू डेवलपमेंट बैंक (एनडीबी) के पहले प्रमुख हैं। NaBFID भारत में एक नव स्थापित विकास वित्तीय संस्थान (DFI) है। इसे नेशनल बैंक फॉर फाइनेंसिंग इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर एंड डेवलपमेंट (NaBFID) अधिनियम 2021 के अनुसार बुनियादी ढांचे के वित्तपोषण के लिए स्थापित किया गया है। NaBFID की अधिकृत शेयर पूंजी एक लाख करोड़ रुपये है। NaBFID की प्रारंभिक चुकता पूंजी 20,000 करोड़ रुपये है।

विश्व सोरायसिस दिवस 2021: 29 अक्टूबर

• सोरायसिस और सोरियाटिक आर्थराइटिस से पीड़ित लोगों के लिए जीवन की गुणवत्ता में सुधार के संबंध में जागरूकता पैदा करना और सशक्तिकरण और कार्रवाई को बढ़ावा देने के लिए इंटरनेशनल फेडरेशन ऑफ सोरायसिस एसोसिएशन (IFPA) द्वारा प्रतिवर्ष 29 अक्टूबर को विश्व सोरायसिस दिवस मनाया जाता है। 2021 के विश्व सोरायसिस दिवस का विषय "एकता के लिए कार्रवाई" है।
• सोरायसिस एक प्रकार का त्वचा रोग है जिसके कारण त्वचा की कोशिकाएं दस गुना तेज हो जाती हैं। सोरायसिस के कारण त्वचा पर सफेद शल्कों से घिरे उबड़-खाबड़ लाल धब्बे बन जाते हैं।

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय इंटरनेट दिवस 2021: 29 अक्टूबर

• पहली बार इंटरनेट के उपयोग का जश्न मनाने के लिए विश्‍व भर में प्रतिवर्ष 29 अक्टूबर को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय इंटरनेट दिवस मनाया जाता है। यह दिन पहला इलेक्ट्रॉनिक संदेश भेजने का प्रतीक है जिसे 1969 में एक कंप्यूटर से दूसरे कंप्यूटर में स्थानांतरित किया गया था। उस समय इंटरनेट को ARPANET (एडवांस्ड रिसर्च प्रोजेक्ट्स एजेंसी नेटवर्क) के रूप में जाना जाता था।
• कैलिफोर्निया विश्वविद्यालय, लॉस एंजिल्स (यूसीएलए) में एक छात्र प्रोग्रामर चार्ली क्लाइन ने 29 अक्टूबर, 1969 को पहली बार इलेक्ट्रॉनिक संदेश 'एलओ' प्रसारित किया।
• पहला अंतर्राष्ट्रीय इंटरनेट दिवस 29 अक्टूबर 2005 को दूरसंचार और प्रौद्योगिकी के इतिहास में इस महत्वपूर्ण घटना को मनाने के लिए मनाया गया था।

Facebook to change corporate name to Meta

• Facebook is now called Meta, in a rebrand that focuses on building the “metaverse,” a shared virtual environment that it bets will be the successor to the mobile internet. The name change, the plan for which was first reported by the Verge, is a significant rebrand for Facebook, but not it’s first. In 2019 it launched a new logo to create a distinction between the company and its social app.
• The metaverse is a term coined in the dystopian novel “Snow Crash” three decades ago and now attracting buzz in Silicon Valley. Zuckerberg said the new name, coming from the Greek word for “beyond,” symbolized there was always more to build. It refers broadly to the idea of a shared virtual realm that can be accessed by people using different devices.

Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue starts

• Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue (IPRD) 2021 is being organized as a three-day online event on 27, 28 and 29 October 2021. IPRD 2021 will focus on the theme ‘Evolution in Maritime Strategy during the 21st Century: Imperatives, Challenges and Way Ahead’. It will focus on eight specific sub-themes.
• The National Maritime Foundation is the Indian Navy’s knowledge partner for IPRD 2021. It is also the Indian Navy’s chief organiser for IPRD 2021.

PM Modi to attend18th ASEAN-India summit virtually

• Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has attended the 18th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-India Summit virtually. This was the 9th ASEAN-India Summit attended by PM Modi. The Summit was held under the chairmanship of the Sultan of Brunei.
• The Heads of State/Government of the ASEAN Countries participated in the Summit to review the status of the ASEAN-India Strategic Partnership and progress made in key areas of Covid-19 & Health, Trade & Commerce, Connectivity, and Education & Culture. The year 2022 will mark 30 years of ASEAN-India relations partnership, and will be celebrated as ‘ASEAN-India Friendship Year’.

Defence minister Shri Rajnath Singh chairs Ambassadors’ Round Table for DefExpo 2022

• In a major outreach to the friendly foreign countries as also to the defence manufacturing industries of the world, Defence minister, Rajnath Singh has chaired the Ambassadors’ Round Table for Def Expo 2022, in New Delhi. DefExpo 2022 will be Asia’s largest defence exhibition. The Round Table was aimed to brief the Ambassadors of foreign missions about the planning, arrangements and other details of DefExpo 2022, which will be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat between March 10-13, 2022.
• More than 200 delegates, including Ambassadors, Heads of Missions and Defence Attaches attended the Round Table, reflecting the growing global interest in the Indian Defence space. Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Secretary (Defence Production) Shri Raj Kumar and other senior officials of the Ministry of Defence & Government of Gujarat were also present.

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

India successfully tests nuclear-capable Agni-V ballistic missile

• Recently, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has carried successful test-firing of surface-to-surface ballistic missile Agni-5. The test-firing was carried around 7:50 PM from APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha on October 27, 2021. Agni-5 is a nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), which uses a three-stage solid-fuelled engine.
• The defence ministry of India said the successful test of Agni-5 is in line with India’s stated policy to have credible minimum deterrence that underpins the commitment to ‘No First Use’. The missile has been successfully tested five times and is in the process of induction into the Army. The successful test-firing of surface to surface ballistic missile Agni-5 has also come in the midst of a lingering border stand-off with China in Eastern Ladakh.

Anita Anand is only the second woman to become Canada’s defence minister

• Indo-Canadian Anita Anand became just the second woman to be appointed Canada’s minister of national defence as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his new cabinet. The ministers were sworn in by governor-general Mary May Simon in a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa. She is the first woman to serve as defence minister since Kim Campbell in the 1990s.

• FloBiz, a neobank for Indian Small to Medium-sized Businesses (SMBs), announced Padma Shri Awardee actor Manoj Bajpayee as the brand ambassador for its flagship product. He will promote the ‘’Business Ko Le Seriously’’ campaign to mark the importance of digital solutions. He has signed to accelerate myBillBook’s outreach to the SMB sector and promote the adoption of myBillBook– a simple to use GST (Good & Services Tax) billing and accounting software.

K V Kamath appointed as NaBFID chairperson

• The government of India has appointed K V Kamath as chairperson of the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID). He is a well-known banker in India and is the first head of the New Development Bank (NDB). NaBFID is a newly set up development financial institution (DFIs) in India. It has been set up for infrastructure financing as per the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID) Act 2021. The authorized share capital of the NaBFID is Rs one lakh crore. The initial paid-up capital of NaBFID is Rs 20,000 crore.

World Psoriasis Day 2021: 29th October

• World Psoriasis Day is observed every year on 29 October by the International Federation of Psoriasis Associations (IFPA) to promote awareness, empowerment, and action for improving the quality of life for people with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. The theme for 2021 World Psoriasis Day is “Uniting for action”.
• Psoriasis is a kind of skin disorder that reasons skin cells to multiply up to ten times faster. Psoriasis causes the skin to build up into bumpy red patches embraced with white scales.

International Internet Day 2021: 29th October

• International Internet Day is celebrated on October 29 every year across the world to celebrate the usage of the internet for the first time. The day marks the sending of the first electronic message which was transferred from one computer to another in 1969. At that time the Internet was known as ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network).
• Charley Kline, a student programmer at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), transmitted the first-ever electronic message ‘LO’ on October 29, 1969.
• The first International Internet Day was celebrated on October 29, 2005, to celebrate this momentous event in the history of telecommunications and technology.
