काजा कलास बनी एस्टोनिया की पहली महिला प्रधानमंत्री

• काजा कलास, रिफार्म पार्टी की नेता एस्टोनिया की पहली महिला प्रधानमंत्री बनेंगी। कलास के नेतृत्व वाली रिफॉर्म पार्टी ने देश की 101 सीटों वाली संसद,रिगिकोगु में 34 सांसदों के साथ एस्टोनिया में 2019 का संसदीय चुनाव जीता।
• एस्टोनिया, इस प्रकार वर्तमान में दुनिया का एकमात्र देश बन जाएगा जहां राष्ट्रपति केर्स्टी कालजुलैद और प्रधानमंत्री दोनों महिलाएं हैं।

PM मोदी ने की 35 वीं प्रगति बैठक की अध्यक्षता

• प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने विभिन्न परियोजनाओं, शिकायतों और कार्यक्रमों की समीक्षा करने के लिए 35 वीं PRAGATI बैठक की अध्यक्षता की। इस बैठक में, 15 राज्यों से संबंधित 54,675 करोड़ रुपये के मूल्य की समीक्षा के लिए दस एजेंडा आइटम लिए गए। इनमें नौ परियोजनाएं और एक कार्यक्रम शामिल था। इसके अलावा प्रधानमंत्री ने प्रधानमंत्री भारतीय जन औषधि परियोजना की भी समीक्षा की।
• PRAGATI का पूरा नाम Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation है।
• कुल 9 परियोजनाओं में से 3 परियोजनाएँ रेल मंत्रालय, 3 सड़क परिवहन और राजमार्ग मंत्रालय की और एक-एक परियोजना उद्योग और आंतरिक व्यापार, ऊर्जा मंत्रालय और विदेश मंत्रालय के संवर्धन विभाग की हैं।
• राज्य ओडिशा, कर्नाटक, आंध्र प्रदेश, महाराष्ट्र, छत्तीसगढ़, पंजाब, झारखंड, बिहार, तेलंगाना, राजस्थान, गुजरात, पश्चिम बंगाल, हरियाणा, उत्तराखंड, और उत्तर प्रदेश हैं।

 गणतंत्र दिवस परेड में उत्तर प्रदेश की राम मंदिर की झांकी ने जीता पहला पुरस्कार

• गणतंत्र दिवस 2021 की परेड में प्रदर्शित की गई उत्तर प्रदेश की राम मंदिर की झांकी को सभी झांकीयों में पहला पुरस्कार मिला है। उत्तर प्रदेश की झांकी का विषय 'अयोध्या: उत्तर प्रदेश की सांस्कृतिक विरासत' था। प्राचीन पवित्र शहर अयोध्या की सांस्कृतिक विरासत, राम मंदिर की प्रतिकृति, 'दीपोत्सव' की झलक और रामायण महाकाव्य की विभिन्न कहानियों को झांकी में दर्शाया गया था।
• त्रिपुरा की झांकी ने गणतंत्र दिवस परेड में दूसरा पुरस्कार जीता। वहीँ उत्तराखंड की झांकी 'देव भूमि - देवताओं की भूमि' विषय पर राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों के बीच तीसरे स्थान पर रही। केंद्रीय लोक निर्माण विभाग (Central Public Works Department) की झांकी, 'अमर जवान' विषय पर आधारित सशस्त्र बलों के शहीद हुए नायकों को श्रद्धांजलि देने के लिए विशेष पुरस्कार से सम्मानित की गई।

 चुनाव आयोग ने डिजिटल वोटर आईडी कार्ड "E-EPIC" शुरू किया

• चुनाव आयोग ने मतदाताओं के फोटो पहचान पत्र का इलेक्ट्रॉनिक संस्करण e-EPIC शुरू किया है, जिसे मोबाइल फोन और व्यक्तिगत कंप्यूटर पर संग्रहीत और डाउनलोड किया जा सकता है। भौतिक कार्ड को प्रिंट करने और मतदाताओं तक पहुंचने में समय लगता है। ऐसे में इस नई शुरुआत की मदद से दस्तावेज को तेजी से और आसानी से पहुंचाने का विचार है।
• e-EPIC, EPIC का एक सुरक्षित पोर्टेबल डॉक्यूमेंट फॉर्मेट (PDF) संस्करण है, जिसे मोबाइल पर डाउनलोड या कंप्यूटर पर सेल्फ-प्रिंटेबल रूप में रखा जा सकता है।
• मतदाता कार्ड को अपने मोबाइल पर संग्रहीत कर सकता है, इसे डिजी लॉकर पर पीडीएफ के रूप में अपलोड कर सकता है या इसे प्रिंट कर स्व-लैमनैट कर सकता है।
• ई-इलेक्टर फोटो पहचान पत्र निर्वाचक फोटो पहचान पत्र का एक गैर-संपादन योग्य डिजिटल संस्करण है और इसे डिजिटल लॉकर जैसी सुविधाओं में सेव किया जा सकता है साथ ही पीडीएफ प्रारूप में मुद्रित किया जा सकता है।

 केंद्रीय मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने खोला NCLAT चेन्नई बेंच

• केंद्रीय वित्त और कॉर्पोरेट मामलों के मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने नैशनल कंपनी लॉ अपीलेट ट्रिब्यूनल (NCLAT) की चेन्नई पीठ का वर्चुअली उद्घाटन किया है। नई दिल्ली में प्रिंसिपल बेंच के बाद यह देश की दूसरी NCLAT बेंच होगी।
• NCLAT के पास कंपनी अधिनियम, दिवाला और दिवालियापन संहिता और भारतीय प्रतिस्पर्धा आयोग के तहत मामलों पर अधिकार क्षेत्र है।
• कर्नाटक, तमिलनाडु, केरल, आंध्र प्रदेश और तेलंगाना तथा लक्षद्वीप और पुडुचेरी के केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों के न्यायाधिकरण के खंडपीठों के आदेशों के खिलाफ ताज़ा अपील चेन्नई बेंच के समक्ष दायर करनी होगी।

भारत और मोहन बागान के पूर्व गोलकीपर प्रशांत डोरा का निधन

• पूर्व भारतीय राष्ट्रीय फुटबॉल टीम के गोलकीपर, प्रशांत डोरा का निधन हो गया है। उन्होंने घरेलू फुटबॉल में टॉलीगंज अग्रगामी, कलकत्ता पोर्ट ट्रस्ट, मोहम्मडन स्पोर्टिंग, मोहन बागान और ईस्ट बंगाल का प्रतिनिधित्व किया था।
• 1997-98 और 99 में जब बंगाल ने बैक-टू-बैक संतोष ट्रॉफी खिताब जीता, तब उन्हें भी बेस्ट गोलकीपर के रूप में चयन किया गया। राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर, डोरा ने SAFF कप और SAF गेम्स जैसी प्रतियोगिताओं में पांच प्रदर्शन किए।

मेघालय ने जीता बेस्ट इलेक्टोरल प्रैक्टिस 2020 के लिए राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार

• मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकारी कार्यालय, मेघालय को राष्ट्रीय सर्वश्रेष्ठ चुनावी आचरण पुरस्कार -2020 में भारतीय निर्वाचन आयोग (ECI) द्वारा चुनाव में सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी अनुप्रयोगों के लिए एक विशेष पुरस्कार के लिए चुना गया था। राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद ने नई दिल्ली में आयोजित राष्ट्रीय मतदाता दिवस पुरस्कार समारोह में मेघालय के सीईओ एफ.आर. ख़ारकोंगर को वर्चुअली पुरस्कार प्रदान किया गया।
• यह पुरस्कार सीईओ के कार्यालय द्वारा सम्पूर्ण चुनावी नामांकन (E2E) प्रक्रिया में निर्वाचक गतिविधियों में निरंतर और सुसंगत आईटी अनुप्रयोग प्रयासों और सभी श्रेणियों के मतदाताओं के लिए, दोनों सामान्य और विकलांग व्यक्तियों (PWD) के लाभ के लिए प्रौद्योगिकी का लाभ उठाने के लिए दिया जाता है।
• ECI लगातार गैर-चुनावी अवधि जैसे कि मतदाता पोर्टल, मतदाता हेल्पलाइन ऐप, एसएमएस, 1950 हेल्पलाइन, राजनीतिक पार्टी पंजीकरण और ऑनलाइन ट्रैकिंग को कवर करने के लिए प्रौद्योगिकी का उपयोग कर रहा है।

भारत ने भ्रष्टाचार धारणा सूचकांक (सीपीआई) 2020 में 86 वीं रैंक हासिल की

• ट्रांसपेरेंसी इंटरनेशनल द्वारा जारी भ्रष्टाचार धारणा सूचकांक (सीपीआई) 2020 में 180 देशों में से भारत को 86 वाँ स्थान दिया गया है। इस वर्ष 2019 की तुलना में भारत का स्थान छह पायदान खिसक गया है, पहले वह 80 वें स्थान पर था। 2020 में भारत के लिए सीपीआई स्कोर 40 है। भारत बुर्किना फासो, मोरक्को, पूर्वी तिमोर, त्रिनिदाद और टोबैगो और तुर्की के साथ संयुक्त रूप से अपनी स्थिति साझा कर रहा है।

शीर्ष देश:

• न्यूजीलैंड और डेनमार्क ने संयुक्त रूप से 88 के स्कोर के साथ पहला स्थान हासिल किया है।

न्यूनतम देश:

• सोमालिया और दक्षिण सूडान 12 के स्कोर के साथ 179 वें स्थान पर सबसे निचले स्थान पर हैं।
• CPI सूचकांक 180 देशों और क्षेत्रों को सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के भ्रष्टाचार के कथित स्तरों के अनुसार विशेषज्ञों और कारोबारियों के अनुसार रैंक देता है। सूचकांक 0 से 100 के पैमाने का उपयोग करता है, जहां 0 अत्यधिक भ्रष्ट है और 100 बहुत साफ है।

 बैंकिंग और आर्थिक

धनलक्ष्मी बैंक बोर्ड ने जे के शिवन को एमडी और सीईओ के रूप में नियुक्ति को मंजूरी दी

• केरल स्थित धनलक्ष्मी बैंक के निदेशक मंडल ने जे के शिवन को बैंक के प्रबंध निदेशक और सीईओ के रूप में नियुक्त करने की मंजूरी दे दी है। यह याद किया जा सकता है कि केरल स्थित शेयरधारकों ने 30 सितंबर, 2020 को एमडी और सीईओ सुनील गुरबक्सनी के खिलाफ मतदान किया था। फिर उसी वर्ष दिसंबर में, ऋणदाता ने शिवन को नए एमडी और सीईओ के रूप में नियुक्त किया।
• हालांकि, भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) के बैंकिंग नियामक ने धनलक्ष्मी बैंक बोर्ड को जे के शिवन को बैंक के अगले प्रमुख के रूप में नियुक्त करने से पहले शेयरधारकों की मंजूरी लेने के लिए कहा था।

Kaja Kallas to become Estonia’s first female prime minister

• Kaja Kallas, the leader of the Reform Party will become Estonia’s first female prime minister. The Reform Party, led by Kallas, won the 2019 parliamentary election in Estonia with 34 MPs in the country’s 101-seat parliament, Riigikogu.
• Estonia would thus currently become the only country in the world where both the president Kersti Kaljulaid and the prime minister are women.

PM Modi Chairs 35th PRAGATI Meet

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has chaired the 35th PRAGATI meeting to review multiple projects, grievances and programmes. In the meeting, ten agenda items were taken for review worth Rs. 54,675 crore, related to 15 states. These included nine projects and one programme. Prime Minister also reviewed the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana.
• PRAGATI stands for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation.
• Of the total 9 projects, 3 projects were from the Ministry of Railways, 3 from Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and 1 project each from Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Power Ministry and Ministry of External Affairs.
• The States are Odisha, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Jharkhand, Bihar, Telangana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Bengal, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh.

 Ram Temple tableau of Uttar Pradesh on Republic Day wins 1st prize

• The Ram Temple tableau of Uttar Pradesh that was on display during the Republic Day 2021 has bagged the first prize among all tableaux. The theme of Uttar Pradesh’s tableau was ‘Ayodhya: Cultural Heritage of Uttar Pradesh’. The cultural heritage of ancient holy town Ayodhya, a replica of a Ram temple, a glimpse of ‘Deepotsav’ and various stories from Ramayana epic were depicted in the tableau.
• The Tripura tableau won the second prize for the Republic Day parade. Uttarakhand’s tableau on the theme ‘Dev Bhoomi — The Land of the Gods’ was adjudged third among the states and union territories. The tableau of Central Public Works Department (CPWD), with the theme ‘Amar Jawan’, bagged a special prize for paying tribute to the fallen heroes of the armed forces.

 Election Commission rolls out digital voter ID cards “e-EPIC”

• The Election Commission has rolled out the electronic version of the voters’ photo identity card e-EPIC, which can be stored on mobile phones and downloaded on personal computers. The physical card takes time to print and reach the voter, and the idea is to provide faster delivery and easy accessibility to the document.
• The e-EPIC is a secure portable document format (PDF) version of the EPIC which can be downloaded on mobile or in a self-printable form on the computer.
• The voter can store the card on his/her mobile, upload it as a PDF on Digi locker or print it & self-laminate.
• The e-elector photo identity card is a non-editable digital version of the elector photo identity card and can be saved in facilities such as digital locker as well as can be printed in the PDF format.

 Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman opens NCLAT Chennai Bench

• Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman has virtually inaugurated the Chennai Bench of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT). This will be the second NCLAT Bench in the country, after the Principal Bench in New Delhi.
• The NCLAT has jurisdiction over matters under the Companies Act, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code and the Competition Commission of India.
• Fresh appeals against the orders of the Benches of the tribunal having jurisdiction in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and the Union Territories of Lakshadweep and Puducherry will have to be filed before the Chennai Bench.
• Justice Bansi Lal Bhat, acting Chairperson, NCLAT; Rajesh Verma, Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs; and Justice Venugopal M, judicial member, and Balvinder Singh, technical member of the NCLAT Chennai Bench, were present.

 OBITUARY

Former India and Mohun Bagan goalkeeper Prasanta Dora passes away

• Former Indian National Football team goalkeeper, Prasanta Dora has passed away. He was represented Tollygunge Agragami, Calcutta Port Trust, Mohammedan Sporting, Mohun Bagan and East Bengal in domestic football.
• He has also adjudged the Best Goalkeeper when Bengal lifted back-to-back Santosh Trophy titles in 1997-98 and 99. At the national level, Dora made five appearances in competitions such as SAFF Cup and SAF Games.

Meghalaya wins National Award for Best Electoral Practices 2020

• The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Meghalaya was selected for a Special Award for Information Technology applications in Elections by the Election Commission of India (ECI), in the National Best Electoral Practices Awards-2020. President Ram Nath Kovind virtually conferred the award to Meghalaya CEO F.R. Kharkongor at the National Voters’ Day Award function held in New Delhi.
• The award recognises the sustained and consistent IT application efforts in electoral activities being made by the Office of the CEO in the entire Enrolment to Elections (E2E) process and for leveraging technology for the benefit of all categories of voters, both general and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
• The ECI has consistently been championing the use of technology covering the non-election period, such as voter portal, voter helpline app, SMS, 1950 helpline, political party registration and online tracking. 

RANKING

India Secures 86th Rank in Corruption Perception Index 2020

• India has been ranked 86th among 180 countries in the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2020, released by Transparency International. This year, India’s rank has slipped six places compared to 2019, when it was ranked at 80th spot. The CPI score for India in 2020 is 40. India is sharing its position jointly with Burkina Faso, Morocco, East Timor, Trinidad and Tobago and Turkey.

Top Country:

• New Zealand and Denmark have jointly secured the first position with scores of 88.

Lowest Country:

• Somalia and South Sudan rank lowest at 179th position with scores of 12.
• The CPI index ranks 180 countries and territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption according to experts and business people. The index uses a scale of 0 to 100, where 0 is highly corrupt and 100 is very clean.

 BANKING AND ECONOMY

Dhanlaxmi Bank Board approves appointment of J K Shivan as MD and CEO

• Board of Directors of Kerala-based Dhanlaxmi Bank have given the approval to appoint J K Shivan as managing director and CEO of the Bank. It may be recalled that the shareholders of the Kerala-based had voted against MD & CEO Sunil Gurbaxani On September 30, 2020. Then, in December that year, the lender appointed Shivan as the new MD & CEO.
• However, the banking regulator, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), had asked the Dhanlaxmi Bank Board to get shareholders’ approval before appointing J K Shivan as the next chief of the bank.
