श्रम कानूनों में सुधार के लिए संसद द्वारा पारित श्रम संहिता

• एक ऐतिहासिक कदम में, संसद ने 23 सितंबर, 2020 को श्रम कानूनों में सुधार के लिए तीन श्रम संहिताएं पारित की हैं। ये श्रम संहिता औद्योगिक संबंध संहिता, 2020 हैं; व्यावसायिक सुरक्षा, स्वास्थ्य और कार्य की शर्तें कोड, 2020 (OSH कोड) और सामाजिक सुरक्षा कोड, 2020।
• ये श्रम कोड बदलते कारोबारी माहौल में पारदर्शिता लाने का लक्ष्य रखते हैं। 

रेलवे ने 2023 तक ब्रॉड गेज मार्गों के 100% विद्युतीकरण को पूरा करने का लक्ष्य रखा

• रेल मंत्री पीयूष गोयल ने कहा कि रेलवे ने 2023 तक अपने ब्रॉड गेज मार्गों के 100 प्रतिशत विद्युतीकरण की योजना बनाई है।
• इस वर्ष 1 अप्रैल को कुल 63,631 रूट किलोमीटर में से लगभग 63 प्रतिशत ब्रॉड गेज लाइनों का विद्युतीकरण किया जा चुका है। देश में कुल 23,765 रूट किलोमीटर लाइनों का विद्युतीकरण होना बाकी है। 

EAM डॉ एस जयशंकर CICA के वित्त मंत्रियों की विशेष मंत्रिस्तरीय बैठक में भाग लिया

• केंद्रीय विदेश मंत्री डॉ एस जयशंकर ने 24 अक्टूबर 2020 को CICA के विदेश मंत्रियों की विशेष मंत्रिस्तरीय बैठक में भाग लिया।
• एशिया में शांति, सुरक्षा और स्थिरता को बढ़ावा देने की दिशा में सहयोग बढ़ाने के लिए CICA एक अंतर-सरकारी मंच है। CICA का अर्थ एशिया में सहभागिता और विश्वास निर्माण उपायों पर सम्मेलन ’है।
• CICA का सचिवालय नूर-सुल्तान, कजाकिस्तान पर आधारित है। इसमें भारत सहित 27 सदस्य राज्य हैं; 8 पर्यवेक्षक राज्य और 5 पर्यवेक्षक संगठन।

अलेक्जेंडर लुकाशेंको ने 6 वें कार्यकाल के लिए बेलारूस के राष्ट्रपति के रूप में शपथ ली

• बेलारूस के राष्ट्रपति अलेक्जेंडर लुकाशेंको ने 23 सितंबर 2020 को छठे कार्यकाल के लिए शपथ ली है।
• 66 साल के सत्तावादी नेता ने राष्ट्रपति चुनाव में 80% वोट हासिल कर एक और 5 साल का कार्यकाल हासिल किया।
• लुकाशेंको 26 साल पहले 20 जुलाई 1994 को कार्यालय की स्थापना के बाद से बेलारूस के राष्ट्रपति के रूप में सेवारत हैं। 

अधिग्रहण और विलय

CCI, ने PharmEasy के साथ Medlife के विलय को मंजूरी दी

• भारतीय प्रतिस्पर्धा आयोग (CCI) ने मेडलाइफ़ और एपीआई होल्डिंग्स के प्रस्तावित संयोजन को मंजूरी दी।
• यह सौदा एपीआई होल्डिंग्स द्वारा मेडलाइफ के 100 प्रतिशत इक्विटी शेयरों के प्रस्तावित अधिग्रहण से संबंधित है। Medlife शेयरधारकों को एपीआई होल्डिंग्स की 19.59 प्रतिशत इक्विटी शेयर पूंजी प्राप्त करनी है।
• पटना स्थित एक कंपनी, मेडलाइफ का मूल्य 31 जनवरी, 2020 तक 375 मिलियन डॉलर था।

रेल राज्य मंत्री सुरेश अंगड़ी का 65 साल की उम्र में निधन

• केंद्रीय रेल राज्य मंत्री सुरेश अंगड़ी का निधन हो गया, वह 65 वर्ष के थे।
• सुरेश अंगदी कर्नाटक के बेलगावी निर्वाचन क्षेत्र से चार बार लोकसभा सांसद थे। वह 2004, 2014 और 2019 में चुने गए थे। 

पूर्व ऑस्ट्रेलियाई क्रिकेटर डीन जोन्स का निधन

• पूर्व ऑस्ट्रेलियाई क्रिकेटर और प्रसिद्ध टिप्पणीकार, डीन जोन्स का निधन। उन्होंने 1984 में वेस्ट इंडीज में एक टेस्ट मैच में ऑस्ट्रेलिया के लिए अपनी शुरुआत की।
• उन्होंने कमेंट्री में जाने से पहले 1984 से 1994 के बीच ऑस्ट्रेलिया के लिए 52 टेस्ट और 164 वनडे खेले। उन्होंने लगभग 9500 अंतर्राष्ट्रीय रन बनाए। 

नियुक्ति और इस्तीफे

17 वर्षीय खुशी चिंदलिया को UNEP के भारतीय क्षेत्रीय राजदूत के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया

• सूरत की एक 17 वर्षीय लड़की, ख़ुशी चिंदलिया को संयुक्त राष्ट्र पर्यावरण कार्यक्रम (UNEP) टुंजा इको-जेनरेशन के लिए भारत में क्षेत्रीय राजदूत के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है।
• ख़ुशी, जिसे पर्यावरण के संरक्षण में योगदान के लिए भारत का ग्रीन एम्बेसडर ’नामित किया गया है।
• ख़ुशी फरवरी 2021 तक विभिन्न जागरूकता कार्यक्रमों पर टीईजी के साथ काम करेगी। स्वाभाविक रूप से, ख़ुशी भारत के उन 100 युवाओं में से एक है, जिनके निबंधों को यूनेस्को की पुस्तक में छापा जाएगा।

सरकार ने उदय कोटक का कार्यकाल ऋण-ग्रस्त आईएल एंड एफएस के अध्यक्ष के रूप में एक वर्ष बढ़ाया

• सरकार ने उदय कोटक के ऋण-ग्रस्त आईएल एंड एफएस समूह के गैर-कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष के रूप में कार्यकाल 3 अक्टूबर 2020 से एक वर्ष बढ़ा दिया है।
• कोटक को सरकार द्वारा 2018 में बोर्ड के प्रमुख के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया था, ताकि राज्य के बोर्ड को संभालने के बाद कंपनी को मुश्किलों से बाहर निकालने में मदद मिल सके।

शिवांगी सिंह राफेल विमान उड़ाने वाली पहली महिला पायलट बनीं

• फ्लाइट लेफ्टिनेंट शिवांगी सिंह हाल ही में शामिल राफेल विमान को उड़ाने वाली पहली महिला फाइटर पायलट बनकर इतिहास रचा हैं। राफेल को आधिकारिक तौर पर 10 सितंबर, 2020 को भारतीय वायु सेना में शामिल किया गया था।
• सिंह वर्तमान में राफेल उड़ाने के लिए प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त कर रहे हैं, जो अंबाला में स्थित है।

विश्व फार्मासिस्ट दिवस

• स्वास्थ्य में सुधार में फार्मासिस्ट की भूमिका के बारे में जागरूकता पैदा करने के लिए विश्व फार्मासिस्ट दिवस प्रतिवर्ष 25 सितंबर को मनाया जाता है।
• 2020 का विषय: "वैश्विक स्वास्थ्य को बदलना"।
• यह दिन 2009 में इस्तांबुल, तुर्की में विश्व कांग्रेस ऑफ़ फ़ार्मेसी एंड फ़ार्मास्युटिकल साइंसेज में FIP काउंसिल (इंटरनेशनल फ़ार्मास्यूटिकल फ़ेडरेशन या फ़ेडरेशन इंटरनेशनल फार्मासेक्यूटिक) द्वारा नामित किया गया था।

 विश्व समुद्री दिवस 2020

• विश्व समुद्री दिवस 2020 को 24 सितंबर को एक ऑनलाइन कार्यक्रम के रूप में विश्व स्तर पर मनाया गया। विश्व समुद्री दिवस मनाने की सही तारीख व्यक्तिगत सरकारों पर छोड़ दी जाती है, लेकिन आमतौर पर सितंबर में अंतिम सप्ताह के दौरान यह मनाया जाता है।
• विश्व समुद्री दिवस 2020 की थीम "एक स्थायी ग्रह के लिए सतत शिपिंग" है।

National

Labour Codes passed by Parliament to reform labour laws

• In a historic move, the Parliament has passed three labour codes on September 23, 2020 to reform the Labour Laws. These labour codes are Industrial Relations Code, 2020; Occupational Safety, Health & Working Conditions Code, 2020 (OSH Code) and Social Security Code, 2020.
• These labour codes aim to introduce transparency in the changing business environment. 

Railways target to complete 100% electrification of broad gauge routes by 2023

• Railways has planned for 100 per cent electrification of its broad gauge routes by 2023 said by the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.
• Around 63 per cent broad gauge lines have already been electrified out of a total 63,631 route kilometers as on 1st of April this year. A total of 23,765 route kilometre lines are yet to be electrified in the country. 

EAM Dr S Jaishankar attends Special Ministerial Meeting of FMs of CICA

• The Union Minister of External Affairs, Dr S Jaishankar participated in the Special Ministerial Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the CICA on 24 September 2020.
• CICA is an inter-governmental forum for enhancing cooperation towards promoting peace, security and stability in Asia. CICA stands for the ‘Conference on Interaction & Confidence Building Measures in Asia’.
• The Secretariat of CICA is based at Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.It has 27 member states including India; 8 observer states and 5 observer organizations. 

International

Alexander Lukashenko sworn in as President of Belarus for 6th term

• President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko has been sworn in for a sixth term on 23 September 2020.
• The 66 year-old authoritarian leader won 80% of the vote in the presidential election to gain another 5 year term.
• Lukashenko is serving as the President of Belarus since the establishment of the office 26 years ago, on 20 July 1994. 

Acquisitions and Mergers

CCI approves merger of Medlife with PharmEasy

• The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved the proposed combination of Medlife and API Holdings.
• The deal pertains to the proposed acquisition of 100 per cent equity shares of Medlife by API Holdings. Medlife shareholders are to get up to 19.59 per cent equity share capital of API Holdings.
• Medlife, a Patna-based company, was valued at $375 million as of January 31, 2020.

Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi passes away at 65

• Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi has passed away after he contracted Chinese virus disease. He was 65-years-old.
• Suresh Angadi was a four-time Lok Sabha MP from Karnataka’s Belagavi constituency. He was elected in 2004, 2014 and 2019. 

Former Australian Cricketer Dean Jones passes away

• Former Australian cricketer and renowned commentator, Dean Jones passed away. He made his debut for Australia in a Test match in the West Indies in 1984.
• He played 52 Tests and 164 ODIs for Australia between 1984 and 1994 before venturing into the commentary. He scored almost 9500 international runs.

17-Year-Old Khushi Chindaliya Appointed As UNEP’s Indian Green Ambassador

• A 17-year-old girl from Surat, Khushi Chindaliya has been appointed as the Regional Ambassador for India for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Tunza Eco-Generation, a recurring event with monthly goals.
• Khushi, who has been named India’s ‘Green Ambassador’ for her contribution to the conservation of the environment.
• Khushi will work with TEG on various awareness programs till February 2021. Crucially, Khushi is one of the 100 youths in India whose essays will be featured in a UNESCO book. 

Govt extends term of Uday Kotak as Chairman of Debt-ridden IL&FS by One Year

• The government extended the term of Uday Kotak as non-executive chairman of debt-ridden IL&FS group by one year with effect from the 3rd day of October 2020.
• Kotak was appointed by the Government as the head of the lender”s board in 2018 to help the troubled company come out of difficulties, after the state took over the board.

Shivangi Singh becomes first woman pilot to fly Rafale aircraft

• Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh makes history by becoming the first woman fighter pilot to fly the recently inducted Rafale aircraft. The Rafale was officially inducted on September 10, 2020 in the Indian Air Force.
• Singh is currently receiving the training to fly the Rafale, which is based in Ambala.

World Pharmacist Day

• The World Pharmacist Day is observed on September 25 annually to create awareness about the role of a pharmacist in improving health.
• 2020 theme: “Transforming global health“.
• The day was designated in 2009 by the FIP Council (International Pharmaceutical Federation or Federation International Pharmaceutique) at the World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Istanbul, Turkey.

 World Maritime Day 2020

• World Maritime Day 2020 is observed globally on 24th September in the form of an online event. The exact date of celebrating World Maritime Day is left to the individual governments but is usually celebrated during the last week in September.
• The theme of World Maritime Day 2020 is “Sustainable shipping for a sustainable planet”.
