गोवा में सैंड ड्यून पार्क के लिए विश्व बैंक द्वारा 3 करोड़ रूपए की राशी की मंजूरी

• भारत के पहले सैंड ड्यून पार्क और इंटरप्रिटेशन सेंटर गोवा में विकसित किए जाने वाले हैं। विश्व बैंक ने इस कार्यक्रम के तहत लगभग 3 करोड़ रुपये की राशि की मंजूरी दी हैं। गोवा राज्य जैव विविधता बोर्ड ने इस परियोजना का प्रस्ताव दिया है, जिसे विश्व बैंक द्वारा वित्तीय सहायता के साथ लागू किया जाएगा।
• सैंड ड्यून पार्क प्रोजेक्ट में सैंड ड्यून इकोसिस्टम के महत्व पर स्थानीय लोगों और पर्यटकों को शिक्षित करने के लिए इंटरप्रिटेशन सेंटर होंगे। पार्क में सैंड ड्यून वेजिटेशन के नुकसान को कम करने के लिए प्रकृति के अनुकूल सामग्री से बने पुल भी होंगे। इसके अलावा, सैंड ड्यून वेजिटेशन की नर्सरी भी स्थापित की जाएगी, जो समुद्र तट पर अपनी प्रतिकृति (replantation) को सक्षम कर सकेगी जहां वनस्पति विलुप्त हो गई है।

 साद अल-हरीरी एक बार फिर बने लेबनान के प्रधानमंत्री

• लेबनान के पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री साद अल-हरीरी ने संसदीय चुनावों में बहुमत प्राप्त करने के बाद पुन: प्रधानमंत्री पद की शपथ ली है। हरीरी को 118 में से 65 संसदीय वोट मिले, जिससे उन्हें अपनी नई सरकार बनाने का जनादेश मिला। अक्टूबर 2019 में, हरीरी ने 2019-20 के जन-विरोध के चलते अपना इस्तीफा दे दिया था।
• इससे पहले उन्होंने लेबनान के प्रधान मंत्री के रूप में 9 नवंबर 2009 से 13 जून 2011 तक और फिर 18 दिसंबर 2016 से 21 जनवरी 2020 तक कार्य किया था। इस साल सरकार बनाने के बाद हरीरी तीसरे व्यक्ति हैं जिन्हें अकादमिक हसन दीब और फिर राजनयिक मुस्तफा अदीब के बाद सरकार बनाने में सफलता मिली।

मंडी जिले ने PMGSY के कार्यान्वयन में किया टॉप

• केंद्रीय ग्रामीण विकास मंत्रालय द्वारा PMGSY कार्यक्रम को लागू करने में देश के शीर्ष प्रदर्शन करने वाले 30 जिलों की सूची जारी की गई है। हिमाचल प्रदेश के मंडी जिले ने प्रधानमंत्री ग्राम सड़क योजना (PMGSY) के सफल कार्यान्वयन में देश के 30 जिलों में शीर्ष स्थान प्राप्त किया है। इसके अलावा हिमाचल प्रदेश ने PMGSY के तहत सड़कों के निर्माण में राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर दूसरा स्थान भी हासिल किया है।
• मंडी जिले को वर्ष 2020-21 में PMGSY के तहत सबसे अधिक लंबी सड़कों के निर्माण के लिए शीर्ष स्थान मिला है। हिमाचल प्रदेश के छह और जिलों ने भी शीर्ष 30 सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन वाले जिलों में स्थान प्राप्त किया है, जिसमें चंबा, शिमला, कांगड़ा, ऊना, सिरमौर, हमीरपुर और सोलन शामिल हैं।

 भारत को 35 साल बाद मिली ILO गवर्निंग बॉडी की चेयरमैनशिप

• भारत को 35 वर्षों के लंबे अंतराल के बाद अंतर्राष्ट्रीय श्रम संगठन (International Labour Organization) के शासी निकाय की अध्यक्षता मिली है। श्रम और रोजगार सचिव, अपूर्वा चंद्रा, को अक्टूबर 2020- जून 2021 तक की अवधि के लिए ILO के शासी निकाय का अध्यक्ष चुना गया है। चंद्रा महाराष्ट्र कैडर के 1988 बैच के भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा के अधिकारी हैं। वह नवंबर 2020 में होने वाली गवर्निंग बॉडी की बैठक की अध्यक्षता करेंगे।

 नीति आयोग ने शहरी शिक्षा नीति में सुधार के लिए पैनल का किया गठन

• नीति आयोग ने शहरी शिक्षा नीति प्रणाली (urban planning education system) में सुधारों की शुरुआत करने के लिए एक 14-सदस्यीय सलाहकार समिति का गठन किया है। इस पैनल की अध्यक्षता नीति आयोग के उपाध्यक्ष राजीव कुमार करेंगे। समिति के सदस्य नीति आयोग के सीईओ अमिताभ कांत और आवास और शहरी मामलों के मंत्रालय (MoHUA), शिक्षा मंत्रालय (MoE) और पंचायती राज मंत्रालय के सचिव होंगे।
• समिति ग्रेजुएट और पोस्टग्रेजुएट के स्तर पर बहु-विषयक, पाठ्यक्रम और अन्य संबंधित मुद्दों के संदर्भ में वर्तमान प्रणाली की जांच करेगी और तेजी से शहरीकरण की चुनौतियों से निपटेगी।
• समिति भारत में शहरी नीति शिक्षा प्रणाली की जांच करेगी और भारत में योग्य शहरी नियोजकों की उपलब्धता, मांग और आपूर्ति का पता लगाएगी।

संयुक्त राष्ट्र दिवस: 24 अक्टूबर

• वर्ष 1948 से हर साल 24 अक्टूबर को संयुक्त राष्ट्र दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है। साल 1945 में सभी के लिए शांति, विकास और मानव अधिकारों का संरक्षण करने के लिए सामूहिक कार्रवाई का सहयोग करने के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र की स्थापना की गई थी। सुरक्षा परिषद के पांच स्थायी सदस्यों सहित अपने हस्ताक्षरकर्ताओं के बहुमत द्वारा घोषणापत्र के अनुसमर्थन के बाद संयुक्त राष्ट्र आधिकारिक रूप से अस्तित्व में आया था।
• इसे संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ द्वारा 1971 में अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर मनाए जाने की घोषणा की गई थी और इस संयुक्त राष्ट्र के सदस्य देशों में सार्वजनिक अवकाश के रूप में मनाया जाता है।

 विश्व पोलियो दिवस: 24 अक्टूबर

• पोलियो टीकाकरण के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने और पोलियो को खत्म करने के लिए हर साल 24 अक्टूबर को दुनिया भर में विश्व पोलियो दिवस मनाया जाता है। विश्व पोलियो दिवस पोलियो मुक्त दुनिया की ओर वैश्विक प्रयासों को उजागर करने और दुनिया के हर कोने से पोलियो उन्मूलन की लड़ाई में उन लोगों के अथक योगदान का सम्मान करने का अवसर प्रदान करता है।
• इस दिन की शुरुआत रोटरी इंटरनेशनल द्वारा जोनस साल्क के जन्म के उपलक्ष्य में की गई थी, जिन्होंने पोलियोमाइलाइटिस के खिलाफ टीका विकसित करने वाली पहली टीम का नेतृत्व किया था। विश्व पोलियो दिवस 2020 की थीम “A win against polio is a win for global health” है। अगस्त 2020 तक के आकड़ों के अनुसार, वर्तमान में अफगानिस्तान और पाकिस्तान केवल दो राष्ट्र हैं, जहां पोलियोवायरस का निरंतर संचरण बना हुआ हैं।

• संयुक्त राष्ट्र द्वारा प्रत्येक वर्ष 24 अक्टूबर को विश्व विकास सूचना दिवस का आयोजन किया जाता है। इस दिन का उद्देश्य विकास की समस्याओं के लिए विश्व जनमत का ध्यान आकर्षित करना है और समग्र विकास और विकास के लिए उन्हें हल करने के लिए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सहयोग को मजबूत बनाना है।

मास्टरकार्ड ने भारत में डिजिटल फर्स्ट प्रोग्राम के विस्तार के लिए अटलांटिस के साथ की साझेदारी

• मास्टरकार्ड ने भारत में डिजिटल फर्स्ट प्रोग्राम का विस्तार करने के लिए अटलांटिस के साथ साझेदारी की है। इस साझेदारी का उद्देश्य मास्टरकार्ड के उपयोगकर्ताओं को एक प्रौद्योगिकी समाधान प्रदान करना है, जो उन्हें बेस्ट-इन-क्लास डिजिटल बैंकिंग अनुभव लेने में सक्षम बनाएगा।
• भारत में लॉन्च के बाद, इस साझेदारी का विस्तार मलेशिया, सिंगापुर और थाईलैंड तक होगा। साझेदारी मास्टरकार्ड के उपयोगकर्ताओं को तुरंत खाता एक्सेस और सुविधाजनक भुगतान करने में सक्षम बनाएगा।
• डिजिटल फर्स्ट प्रोग्राम का उद्देश्य यूजर्स बेहतर अनुभवों के जरिए अपने साथ जोड़े रखना है।
• यह किसी भी डिजिटल डिवाइस के माध्यम से प्रीपेड, डेबिट और क्रेडिट कार्ड और खाता आधारित भुगतान पर चालू होगा।

 बैंक ऑफ बड़ौदा ने टोयोटा किर्लोस्कर मोटर के साथ मिलाया हाथ

• बैंक ऑफ बड़ौदा (BoB) ने टोयोटा किर्लोस्कर मोटर (TKM) के साथ एक समझौता किया है, जिसके बाद बैंक TKM द्वारा बेचे जाने वाले वाहनों की पूरी श्रृंखला के लिए प्रमुख फाइनेंसर होगा।
• भारत के तीसरे सबसे बड़े सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंक ने एक बयान में कहा कि समझौते के तहत ग्राहक 90 प्रतिशत की उच्च ऑन-रोड फंडिंग, 84 महीने की लंबी आसान क़िस्त, कोई पूर्व भुगतान या फोरेक्लोसर फीस जैसे अनुकूलित समाधानों का लाभ उठा सकते हैं। दूसरी ओर, टीकेएम बढ़ते डीलर प्रतिस्पर्धी ब्याज दरों के साथ 'डिजीटल फाइनेंस चैन सीरिज' से लाभान्वित होंगे।

World Bank sanctions Rs 3 crore for Sand Dune Park in Goa

• India’s first sand dune parks and interpretation centres are set to be developed in Goa. World Bank has sanctioned around Rs.3 crore under the programme. The Goa state biodiversity board has proposed the project, which will be implemented with financial assistance from the World Bank.
• Andorra has joined the International Monetary Fund (IMF), to become its 190th member.
• Andorra is a microstate situated between France and Spain. However, it is the largest microstate in Europe.
• IMF’s Membership allows the Andorran government to benefit from IMF policy advice, especially as the country tackles the crisis caused by COVID-19 and can now receive an annual review or “health check” of its economy by the IMF, tap technical assistance, and access IMF lending if needed.

 Saad al-Hariri reappointed as Lebanon Prime Minister

• Former Lebanese Prime Minister, Saad al-Hariri has been re-appointed to the post, after winning a slim majority of votes in parliament election. Hariri received 65 parliamentary votes out of 118, giving him the mandate to form his new government.
• In October 2019, Hariri announced his resignation amid 2019-20 mass-protests. Previously he had served as Prime Minister of Lebanon from 9 November 2009 to 13 June 2011 and then from 18 December 2016 to 21 January 2020.
• Hariri is the third person to be tasked with forming a government this year, after academic Hassan Diab, who succeeded in forming a government but resigned and then diplomat Mustafa Adib.

Mandi district bags top position for implementation of PMGSY

• Union Ministry of Rural Development has declared the list of top-performing 30 districts in the country for implementing the PMGSY programme.
• Himachal Pradesh's, Mandi district has bagged top position among 30 districts of the country in the successful implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
• Himachal Pradesh has also secured the second position at the national level for construction of roads under PMGSY.

 India gets Chairmanship of ILO Governing body after 35 years

• India has assumed the Chairmanship of the Governing Body of International Labour Organization (ILO), after a gap of 35 years.
• The Labour and Employment Secretary, Apurva Chandra, has been elected as the Chairperson of the Governing Body of the ILO for the period October 2020- June 2021.
• Chandra is a 1988 batch Indian Administrative Service officer of Maharashtra Cadre. He would preside over the upcoming the Governing Body’s meeting, to be held in November 2020.
• The Governing Body is the apex executive body of the ILO which decides policies, programmes, agenda, budget and elects the Director-General.
• At present, ILO (Headquarter- Geneva, Switzerland) has 187 members. It meets three times a year, in March, June and November.

 NITI Aayog panel for reforms in urban planning education

• NITI Aayog has constituted a 14-member advisory committee to look into introducing reforms in the urban planning education system. The panel will be headed by NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar.
• The members of the committee include Amitabh Kant, CEO of NITI Aayog and secretaries of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs(MoHUA), Ministry of Education(MoE) and Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
• The committee will examine the current system in terms of multidisciplinarity, curriculum and other related issues at the level of graduates and postgraduates against the challenges of rapid urbanization.
• The committee will examine the urban planning education system in India and examine the availability, demand and supply of the qualified urban planners in India.

United Nations Day: 24 October

• 24th October has been celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948.
• The United Nations was founded in 1945 to support collective action to realize peace, development and human rights for all.
• With the ratification of the UN Charter by the majority of its signatories, including the five permanent members of the Security Council, the United Nations officially came into being.

 World Polio Day: 24 October

• The World Polio Day is celebrated annually on October 24, to raise awareness for polio vaccination and eradication of polio.
• World Polio Day provides an opportunity to highlight global efforts toward a polio-free world and honour the tireless contributions of those on the frontlines in the fight to eradicate polio from every corner of the globe.
• The Day was established by Rotary International to commemorate the birth of Jonas Salk, who led the first team to develop a vaccine against poliomyelitis. 2020 theme for World Polio Day is “A win against polio is a win for global health.”
• As of August 2020, Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only two nations which remain with the continued transmission of wild poliovirus.

 World Development Information Day: 24 October

• The United Nations’ World Development Information Day is held on October 24 every year.
• The day aims to draw the attention of world public opinion to development problems and the need to strengthen international cooperation to solve them for overall growth and development.
• The General Assembly in 1972 established World Development Information Day to draw the attention of the world to development problems and the need to strengthen international cooperation to solve them.
• The Assembly decided that the date for the Day should coincide with United Nations Day, 24 October, which was also the date of the adoption, in 1970, of the International Development Strategy for the Second United Nations Development Decade.

Mastercard partners with Atlantis to expand Digital First Program in India

• Mastercard has entered into a partnership with Atlantis to expand the Digital First Program in India.
• The partnership aims to provide the users of Mastercard, a technology solution that enables them to enjoy a best-in-class digital banking experience.
• After the launch in India, the partnership will expand to Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. The partnership allows the users of the Mastercard to have immediate account access and convenient payments.

 Bank of Baroda ties up with Toyota Kirloskar Motor

• Bank of Baroda (BoB) has entered into a tie-up with Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), whereby the bank will be one of the preferred financiers for the entire range of vehicles sold by the latter.
• India’s third-largest public sector bank, in a statement, stated that under the tie-up, customers can avail customised solutions such as high on-road funding of 90 per cent, long repayment period of 84 months, no prepayment or foreclosure charges.
• On the other hand, TKM dealers will benefit from ‘digitised supply chain finance’ with competitive interest rates.
