सीबीडीटी ने असेसमेंट ईयर 2021-22 के लिए इनकम टैक्स रिटर्न फाइल करने की ड्यू डेट बढ़ाई

• केंद्रीय प्रत्यक्ष कर बोर्ड (CBDT) ने व्यक्तियों के लिए आकलन वर्ष (AY) 2021-22 के लिए आयकर रिटर्न दाखिल करने की नियत तारीख को दो महीने बढ़ाकर 30 सितंबर, 2021 कर दिया है। इससे पहले समय सीमा 31 जुलाई, 2021 थी।
• महामारी के कारण करदाताओं को राहत प्रदान करने के लिए आयकर अधिनियम 1961 के तहत अनुपालन के लिए समय सीमा बढ़ाने का निर्णय लिया गया है। सरकार ने आकलन वर्ष 2021-2022 के लिए कंपनियों के लिए आयकर रिटर्न दाखिल करने की नियत तारीख को भी 31 अक्टूबर से बढ़ाकर 30 नवंबर, 2021 कर दिया है।

कोको गौफ ने परमा में एमिलिया-रोमाग्ना ओपन जीता

• अमेरिकी 17 वर्षीय कोको गॉफ ने पर्मा में एमिलिया-रोमाग्ना ओपन के फाइनल में वांग कियांग को 6-1 6-3 से हराकर अपना दूसरा डब्ल्यूटीए खिताब जीता।
• तीसरी वरीयता प्राप्त गौफ - विश्‍व में करियर के उच्चतम 30वें स्थान पर – उन्‍हे वांग को हराने के लिए सिर्फ एक घंटे 14 मिनट का समय लिया।
• पहला सेट सील करने से पहले गॉफ ने 5-1 से तीन ब्रेक प्वाइंट बचाए।
• इसके बाद उन्‍होने दूसरे सेट के पांचवें गेम में वांग को तोड़ा और डब्ल्यूटीए दौरे पर अपना पहला क्ले-कोर्ट खिताब जीता।

टेनिस खिलाड़ी रूड ने जीता जिनेवा ओपन का खिताब

• तीसरी वरीयता प्राप्त कैस्पर रूड ने शनिवार को क्लेकोर्ट जेनेवा ओपन के फाइनल में डेनिस शापोवालोव को 7-6 (6) 6-4 से हराकर एटीपी टूर पर अपने करियर का दूसरा खिताब जीता।
• नॉर्वेजियन रुड ने जीत हासिल करने के लिए कनाडा की दूसरी वरीयता प्राप्त करने के लिए एक भी ब्रेक पॉइंट नहीं दिया और उन्‍होने पिछले साल अर्जेंटीना ओपन खिताब जीता था।

भारतीय मुक्केबाजी के पहले द्रोणाचार्य पुरस्कार विजेता ओपी भारद्वाज का निधन

• बॉक्सिंग के पहले द्रोणाचार्य अवार्डी कोच ओम प्रकाश भारद्वाज का शुक्रवार को निधन हो गया।
• 1970 के दशक में रूस के दौरे से, भारद्वाज अपने साथ एक को पटियाला ले आए और अपने पत्र टाइप करने के लिए सिर्फ एक उंगली का उपयोग करते हुए, वह नियमित रूप से मुक्केबाजों को प्रदान की जाने वाली सुविधाओं के बारे में संघ के साथ बात की थी।

भारत के पूर्व परमाणु ऊर्जा आयोग के पूर्व अध्यक्ष, श्रीकुमार बनर्जी का निधन

• भारत के परमाणु ऊर्जा आयोग के पूर्व अध्यक्ष डॉ। श्रीकुमार बनर्जी का निधन हो गया है। वह 2012 में परमाणु ऊर्जा आयोग के अध्यक्ष और परमाणु ऊर्जा विभाग के सचिव के रूप में सेवानिवृत्त हुए। उन्होंने 2010 तक छह साल तक भाभा परमाणु अनुसंधान केंद्र (बीएआरसी) के निदेशक के रूप में भी काम किया था।
• डॉ बनर्जी को 2005 में पद्मश्री और 1989 में शांति स्वरूप भटनागर पुरस्कार विज्ञान के क्षेत्र में, विशेष रूप से परमाणु ऊर्जा और धातु विज्ञान के क्षेत्रों में उनकी असाधारण सेवा के लिए मिला।

आरबीआई ने राजेश बंसल को अपने इनोवेशन हब का सीईओ नियुक्त किया

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने 17 मई से प्रभावी रूप से इलेक्ट्रॉनिक नकद हस्तांतरण और डिजिटल वित्तीय सेवाओं के विशेषज्ञ राजेश बंसल को रिजर्व बैंक इनोवेशन हब के मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी के रूप में नियुक्त किया है।
• बंसल को भारत और कई एशियाई और अफ्रीकी बाजारों में समावेशी विकास को सक्षम करने के लिए प्रौद्योगिकी आधारित जनसंख्या-पैमाने पर भुगतान उत्पादों, इलेक्ट्रॉनिक नकद हस्तांतरण, डिजिटल वित्तीय सेवाओं और डिजिटल आईडी को डिजाइन करने में पच्चीस वर्षों से अधिक का अनुभव है।

नरिंदर बत्रा दूसरे कार्यकाल के लिए फिर से FIH अध्यक्ष चुने गए

• नरेंद्र बत्रा को लगातार दूसरे कार्यकाल के लिए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हॉकी महासंघ (FIH) के अध्यक्ष के रूप में फिर से चुना गया है। वह FIH की वर्चुअल 47वीं कांग्रेस के दौरान चुने गए, जहां उन्होंने बेल्जियम हॉकी महासंघ के प्रमुख मार्क कॉड्रॉन को केवल दो मतों से हराया। वह 2024 तक पद संभालेंगे क्योंकि FIH ने कार्यकाल को चार से घटाकर तीन साल कर दिया है।
• अनुभवी भारतीय खेल प्रशासक विश्व निकाय के 92 साल पुराने इतिहास में शीर्ष पद पर नियुक्त होने वाले एकमात्र एशियाई हैं। वह भारतीय ओलंपिक संघ (IOA) के अध्यक्ष और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ओलंपिक समिति (IOC) के सदस्य भी हैं।

हिमंत बिस्वा सरमा BWF परिषद के लिए चुने गए

• भारतीय बैडमिंटन संघ (बीएआई) के अध्यक्ष हिमंत बिस्वा सरमा को 2021-25 की अवधि के लिए सी के सदस्य के रूप में चुना गया है।
• बीडब्ल्यूएफ के वर्चुअल एजीएम और काउंसिल चुनाव में 22 मई, 2021 को 20 सदस्यीय बीडब्ल्यूएफ परिषद के लिए 31 प्रतियोगियों में से सरमा चुने गए, जहां उन्हें 236 वोट मिले। वह बैडमिंटन एशिया के उपाध्यक्ष और असम के मुख्यमंत्री भी हैं।

विश्व कछुआ दिवस 2021: 23 मई मनाया गया

• विश्व कछुआ दिवस प्रतिवर्ष 23 मई को अमेरिकी टोर्टोइस रेस्क्यू, एक गैर-लाभकारी संगठन द्वारा मनाया जाता है। विश्‍व भर में कछुओं और उनके लुप्त हो रहे आवासों की रक्षा के लिए लोगों में जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए यह दिन मनाया जाता है।
• यह दिन 2000 से अमेरिकी टोर्टोइस रेस्क्यू द्वारा मनाया जा रहा है, जो 1990 में कछुए की सभी प्रजातियों की सुरक्षा के लिए स्थापित एक गैर-लाभकारी संगठन है। 2021 विश्व कछुआ दिवस का विषय "टर्टलस रॉक!" है।

बैंकिंग और अर्थव्यवस्था

आरबीआई ने पूर्ण-केवाईसी पीपीआई की सीमा को 1 लाख रुपये से बढ़ाकर 2 लाख रुपये किया

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने पूर्ण-KYC PPI (KYC -अनुपालन PPI) के संबंध में अधिकतम बकाया राशि को 1 लाख रुपये से 2 लाख रुपये तक बढ़ा दिया है। इसके अलावा, भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) ने अनिवार्य किया है कि सभी प्रीपेड भुगतान साधन (PPI) या मोबाइल वॉलेट जैसे पेटीएम, फ़ोनपे और मोबिक्विक पूरी तरह से KYC- अनुरूप हैं, जिन्हें 31 मार्च, 2022 तक इंटरऑपरेबल बनाया जा सकता है।
• PPI जारीकर्ताओं को अधिकृत कार्ड नेटवर्क (कार्ड के रूप में PPI के लिए) और UPI (इलेक्ट्रॉनिक वॉलेट के रूप में PPI के लिए) के माध्यम से इंटरऑपरेबिलिटी प्रदान करनी होगी। इंटरऑपरेबिलिटी स्वीकृति पक्ष पर भी अनिवार्य होगी। मास ट्रांजिट सिस्टम के लिए PPI (PPI-MTS) को इंटरऑपरेबिलिटी से छूट दी जाएगी। गिफ्ट PPI जारीकर्ताओं के लिए इंटरऑपरेबिलिटी का विकल्प रखना वैकल्पिक होगा।

CBDT extended the due date for filing income tax returns for assessment year 2021-22

• The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the due date for filing income tax returns for assessment year (AY) 2021-22, for individuals, by two months, to September 30, 2021. Earlier the deadline was July 31, 2021.
• The decision to extend timelines for compliances under the Income-tax Act 1961 has been taken to provide relief to taxpayers due to the C-19 pandemic. The government has also extended the due date of Income Tax Returns filing for companies for Assessment Year 2021-2022 from October 31 to November 30, 2021.

Coco Gauff wins Emilia-Romagna Open in Parma

• American 17-year-old Coco Gauff clinched her second WTA title by beating Wang Qiang 6-1 6-3 in the final of the Emilia-Romagna Open in Parma.
• Third seed Gauff - ranked a career-high 30th in the world - needed just one hour 14 minutes to overcome Wang - a player 12 years her senior.
• Gauff saved three break points at 5-1 before sealing the first set.
• She then broke Wang in the fifth game of the second set to cruise to her first clay-court title on the WTA tour.
• The teenager's victory comes 19 months after she broke through for her maiden title as a 15-year-old, beating 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko to claim the Linz Open crown.

Tennis player Ruud wins Geneva Open title

• Third seed Casper Ruud claimed his second career title on the ATP Tour after beating Denis Shapovalov 7-6(6) 6-4 in the final of the claycourt Geneva Open on Saturday.
• Norwegian Ruud did not concede a single break point to the Canadian second seed to prevail in the battle of the 22-year-olds and add to the Argentina Open title he won last year.

OP Bhardwaj, Indian boxing first Dronacharya awardee passed away

• Om Prakash Bhardwaj, boxing’s first Dronacharya Awardee coach who passed away on Friday.
• From a tour to Russia in the 1970s, Bhardwaj brought one with him to Patiala and using just one finger to type his letters, he routinely sparred with the federation over the facilities provided to the boxers. “Frequently, his letters used to land at the federation office and he wrote whenever he desired,” says former secretary of the erstwhile Indian Amateur Boxing Federation, Ashok Gangopadhyay. “His list of demands was long but it was always in the best interest of the boxers.”

Former Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission of India, Srikumar Banerjee Passed Away

• The former Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of India, Dr. Srikumar Banerjee, has passed away. He retired as Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary of the Department of Atomic Energy in 2012. He had also served as the Director of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) for six years till 2010.
• Dr Banerjee received the Padma Shri in 2005 and the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in 1989 for his exceptional service in the field of science, especially in the areas of atomic energy and metallurgy.

RBI appointed Rajesh bansal as CEO of its Innovation Hub

• The Reserve Bank of India has appointed Rajesh Bansal, an expert in electronic cash transfers and digital financial services, as the Chief Executive Officer of the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub with effect from May 17.
• Bansal has over twenty five years of experience in designing technology-led population-scale payment products, electronic cash transfers, digital financial services and digital IDs to enable inclusive development in India and multiple Asian and African markets.

Narinder Batra re-elected as FIH President for second term

• Narinder Batra has been re-elected as the President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) for the second consecutive term. He was elected during the virtual 47th Congress of FIH, where he beat Marc Coudron, Chief of Belgium Hockey Federation, by just two votes. He will hold the office until 2024 because the FIH has reduced the term from four to three years.
• The veteran Indian sports administrator is the only Asian to be appointed to the top post in the world body’s 92-year-old history. He is also the President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and a Member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Himanta Biswa Sarma elected to BWF Council

• The Badminton Association of India (BAI) President Himanta Biswa Sarma has been elected as a Member of the c for the period 2021-25.
• Sarma was elected among 31 contestants to the 20-member BWF Council on May 22, 2021, at the virtual AGM and Council election of BWF, where he got 236 votes in favour. He is also the Vice President of Badminton Asia and the Chief Minister of Assam.

World Turtle Day celebrated 2021: 23 May

• The World Turtle Day is observed on May 23 every year by American Tortoise Rescue, a nonprofit organization. The day is celebrated to raise awareness among people to protect turtles and tortoises and their disappearing habitats around the world.
• The day is being celebrated since 2000 by American Tortoise Rescue, a nonprofit organization established in 1990 for the protection of all species of tortoise and turtle. The theme of 2021 World Turtle Day is “Turtles Rock!”.

BANKING AND ECONOMY

RBI increased the limit for Full-KYC PPIs to Rs 2 lakh from Rs 1 lakh

• The Reserve Bank of India has increased the maximum amount outstanding in respect of full-KYC PPIs (KYC-compliant PPIs) from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh. Apart from this, The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has mandated that all prepaid payment instruments (PPIs) or mobile wallets such as Paytm, PhonePe and Mobikwik are fully KYC-compliant be made interoperable by March 31, 2022.
• The PPI issuers will have to provide interoperability through authorised card networks (for PPIs in the form of cards) and UPI (for PPIs in the form of electronic wallets). Interoperability shall be mandatory on the acceptance side as well. PPIs for Mass Transit Systems (PPI-MTS) shall remain exempted from interoperability. It will be optional for Gift PPI issuers to have the option of interoperability.
