इस्माइल साबरी याकूब मलेशिया के नए प्रधान मंत्री

• इस्माइल साबरी याकूब को मलेशिया के नए प्रधान मंत्री के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है। इससे पहले वह मलेशिया के उप प्रधानमंत्री थे। वह प्रधान मंत्री के रूप में मुहीद्दीन यासीन का स्थान लेंगे, जिन्होंने संसद के निचले सदन में बहुमत का समर्थन खोने के बाद पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया था।
• याकूब की नियुक्ति मलेशिया के राजा सुल्तान अब्दुल्ला सुल्तान अहमद शाह ने की थी।

भारत पेट्रोलियम कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड ने एआई-सक्षम चैटबॉट 'उर्जा' लॉन्च किया

• भारत पेट्रोलियम कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड (BPCL) ने अपने ग्राहकों को सहज स्व-सेवा अनुभव और प्रश्नों/मुद्दों के तेजी से समाधान के लिए एक मंच प्रदान करने के लिए ऊर्जा नामक एक एआई-सक्षम चैटबॉट (पायलट परीक्षण के बाद) लॉन्च किया। URJA भारत में तेल और गैस उद्योग में ऐसा पहला चैटबॉट है। URJA को BPCL के प्रोजेक्ट अनुभव के तहत लॉन्च किया गया है और यह वर्तमान में 13 भाषाओं को सपोर्ट करता है।
• बीपीसीएल के ग्राहक इंटरफेस को व्यापक और डिजिटल रूप से एकीकृत बनाने के उद्देश्य से, ऊर्जा, चैटबॉट अब कंपनी की वेबसाइट पर बी2बी और बी2सी दोनों के लिए किसी भी प्रश्न के लिए उपलब्ध है। प्रोजेक्ट अनुभव के तहत, ऊर्जा एक एकीकृत संचार मंच का प्रतिनिधित्व करती है जो सभी बीपीसीएल संचार को किसी भी चैनल से जोड़ता है, सभी ग्राहक टचप्वाइंट को एक और एकजुट आवाज के साथ एकीकृत करता है।

भारत की लॉन्ग जम्पर शैली सिंह ने जीता रजत पदक

• भारत की लंबी कूद खिलाड़ी शैली सिंह ने 22 अगस्त को नैरोबी में चल रही विश्व एथलेटिक्स U20 चैंपियनशिप में महिलाओं की लंबी कूद स्पर्धा में रजत पदक जीता।
• शैली ने तीसरे प्रयास में 6.59 मीटर की छलांग लगाकर रजत पदक जीता जबकि स्वीडन की माजा अस्काग ने 6.60 मीटर की छलांग लगाकर स्वर्ण पदक जीता।

 नियुक्ति एवं इस्‍तीफे

ला गणेशन को मणिपुर का नया राज्यपाल नियुक्त किया गया

• तमिलनाडु के वरिष्ठ भाजपा नेता ला गणेशन को रविवार को मणिपुर का नया राज्यपाल नियुक्त किया गया।
• वर्तमान राज्यपाल नजमा हेपतुल्ला के स्थान पर गणेशन राज्य के 17वें राज्यपाल बने।
• राष्ट्रपति भवन से एक विज्ञप्ति में कहा गया है कि गणेशन "मणिपुर के नए राज्यपाल" होंगे, जिस तारीख से वह अपना पदभार ग्रहण करेंगे।
• हेपतुल्ला ने 10 अगस्त को पद छोड़ दिया था और उसी दिन सिक्किम के राज्यपाल गंगा प्रसाद को प्रभार दिया गया था।

केंद्रीय सतर्कता आयोग ने सलाहकार बोर्ड के अध्यक्ष के रूप में टी एम भसीन को फिर से नियुक्त किया

• केंद्रीय सतर्कता आयोग (CVC) ने टीएम भसीन को बैंकिंग और वित्तीय धोखाधड़ी सलाहकार बोर्ड (ABBFF) के अध्यक्ष के रूप में फिर से नियुक्त करने की घोषणा की है।
• 50 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की बैंक धोखाधड़ी की जांच करने और कार्रवाई की सिफारिश करने के लिए पैनल का गठन किया गया था। पूर्व सतर्कता आयुक्त, सीवीसी, श्री भसीन अब 21 अगस्त, 2021 से अगले दो वर्षों की अवधि के लिए बोर्ड के अध्यक्ष बने रहेंगे।

उत्तर प्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री कल्याण सिंह का निधन

• उत्तर प्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री कल्याण सिंह का निधन हो गया। उन्होंने दो बार उत्तर प्रदेश के सीएम के रूप में कार्य किया - जून 1991 से दिसंबर 1992 और सितंबर 1997 से नवंबर 1999 तक और बाबरी मस्जिद के विध्वंस के दौरान यूपी के सीएम रहे। वह दो बार संसद सदस्य और राजस्थान और हिमाचल प्रदेश के पूर्व राज्यपाल हैं।

• 2019 से प्रतिवर्ष 22 अगस्त को धर्म या विश्वास के आधार पर हिंसा के कृत्यों के पीड़ितों की याद में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस मनाया जाता है। इस दिन का उद्देश्य धर्म या विश्वास के आधार पर या उसके आधार पर बुरे कामों के पीड़ितों और बचे लोगों को याद करना है।
• पोलैंड द्वारा प्रस्तावित 28 मई 2019 को 73 वीं संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा में इस दिन को अपनाया गया था। यह जागरूकता फैलाता है कि अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समुदायों को अपराधियों को जवाबदेह ठहराकर और सरकारों को यह प्रदर्शित करते हुए कि नरसंहार या अन्य अत्याचारों को 'फिर कभी नहीं (never again)' सहन करने के लिए कार्रवाई की जानी चाहिए, पिछले दुर्व्यवहारों से बचे लोगों के लिए न्याय प्राप्त करने के लिए मिलकर काम करना चाहिए।

Ismail Sabri Yaakob is the new Prime Minister of Malaysia

• Ismail Sabri Yaakob has been appointed as the new Prime Minister of Malaysia. Before this, he was the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia.
• He will succeed Muhyiddin Yassin as the PM, who resigned from the post after losing majority support in the lower house of parliament. The appointment of Yaakob was done by Malaysia’s King Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd launched AI-enabled chatbot ‘URJA’

• Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) launched (after pilot test) an AI-enabled chatbot, named Urja to provide its customers with a platform for seamless self-service experience and faster resolution of queries/issues. URJA is the first such chatbot in the oil and gas industry in India. URJA has been launched under the Project Anubhav of BPCL and it currently supports 13 languages.
• With the objective of making BPCL’s customer interface comprehensive and integrated digitally, Urja, the chatbot is now available on the company website for any queries for both B2B & B2C. Under Project Anubhav, Urja represents an integrated communication platform that connects all BPCL communication to any channel, unifying all customer touchpoints with a single and cohesive voice.

India's ace long jumper Shaili Singh won silver medal

• India's ace long jumper Shaili Singh clinched a silver medal in the women's long jump event at the ongoing World Athletics U20 Championships in Nairobi on August 22.
• Shaili jumped 6.59m in the third attempt registering her best show in the event to bag the silver while Sweden's Maja Askag won gold with a jump of 6.60m.

La Ganesan appointed as the new Governor of Manipur

• Senior BJP leader from Tamil Nadu La. Ganesan was on Sunday appointed as the new governor of Manipur.
• Ganesan became the 17th Governor of the state as he replaced the incumbent Governor Najma Heptulla.
• A communique from the Rashtrapati Bhavan said Ganesan will be the new “Governor of Manipur with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office”.
• Heptulla had demitted office on August 10 and on the same day the charge was given to Sikkim Governor Ganga Prasad.

Central Vigilance Commission re-appointed T M Bhasin as Chairman of Advisory Board

• The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has announced the re-appointment of T M Bhasin as chairman of the Advisory Board for Banking and Financial Frauds (ABBFF).
• The panel was constituted to examine bank frauds of over Rs 50 crore and recommend action. The former vigilance commissioner, CVC, Mr Bhasin will now continue to head the board for a further period of two years, with effect from August 21, 2021.

Former CM of Uttar Pradesh Kalyan Singh passed away

• Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Kalyan Singh passed away. He had served as the CM of Uttar Pradesh twice — June 1991 to December 1992 and September 1997 to November 1999 and was the CM of UP during the demolition of the Babri Masjid. He’s a two-time Member of Parliament and a former governor of Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh.

International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition 2021 :23rd August

• United Nations observes 23 August every year as “International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition”. The Day is observed to inscribe the tragedy of the slave trade in the memory of all peoples. It is a day to honour the memory of the men and women who, in Saint-Domingue in 1791, revolted and paved the way for the end of slavery and dehumanization.
• The day was designated by UNESCO to memorialize the transatlantic slave trade. It is a day to honour the memory of the men and women who, in Saint-Domingue in 1791, revolted and paved the way for the end of slavery and dehumanization.
• It was on the night of 22 and 23 August 1791, in Santo Domingo (today Haiti and the Dominican Republic) that saw the beginning of the uprising that would play a crucial role in the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade.

 World Sanskrit Day 2021: 22nd August

• World Sanskrit Day, (also known as Sanskrit Diwas), is celebrated every year on Shraavanapoornima, which is the Poornima day of the Shraavana month in the Hindu calendar, which is also marked as Raksha Bandhan. In 2021, this day is being observed on August 22, 2021.
• The day commemorates the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit and aims to promote its revival and maintenance. The Government of India decided to celebrate World Sanskrit Day in 1969, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan that falls on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravana.

• The International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief is observed on August 22 every year since 2019. The day aims to remember the victims and survivors of evil acts on the basis of or in the name of religion or belief.
• The day was adopted at the 73rd UN General Assembly on 28 May 2019 as proposed by Poland. It spreads awareness that international communities must work together to achieve justice for the survivors of past abuses by holding perpetrators accountable and demonstrating to governments that action must be taken to ‘never again’ tolerate genocide or other atrocities.
